We're still traveling... eating, drinking, and hanging out in the southeastern US. Today we're in Hickory North Carolina visiting with friends who took us to an awesome, local, one-of-a-kind restaurant... Charolais (named after a French breed of taurine cattle, apparently known as the best breed for beef production in the world).Join us for a quick visit and let us tell you about this little NC gem.
Sandi and I decided to venture into NC to visit some family members and generally throw down at the Biltmore Estate. Well, much to our surprise we were introduced to a fabulous restaurant... the Red Stagg Grill, just across the street from the Biltmore.Great food, Great Service, Great Memories. Give it try whenever you're in the area. You won't be disappointed.Join us!
Downtown Nashville at the River House, a newish, upscale restaurant with great good and great service. We felt - and tasted - a fresh atmosphere for Music City with a cosmo-downtown feel. Please join us.
This is a good one. Get the chickens out of the way, move away from the scooters... we're all about the Grand Cafe, a great Key West dining spot with food and service to die for. Oh, and did I mention the outstanding art by Jerzy Paterek? With a cozy dining room, a semi-secret bar, and a huge front porch overlooking the crazy wonderful people on Duvall Street, this restaurant has a full menu, a great vibe, and isa one-of-a kind when it comes to eating, drinking , and hanging out.Join Us!
Union Station in Nashville is a great destination with a really good restaurant - StationAiry (get it...) - a great lobby bar, Live Nashville Music every day, comfortable lodging, and a trainload full of history. Once the L&N Nashville train station, responsible for inbound and outbound traffic throughout the region, this refurbed gem is a refreshing, retro hotel in the middle of a city that's trying so hard to renounce it's history. We loved it.We think you'll love it.Give it a try and let us know what you think.
In 2004, Chef Thomas Keller brought Bouchon to the Venetian Resort-Hotel-Casino in Las Vegas. Bouchon's interior was designed by Adam D. Tihany, who recreated the original Bouchon's environment… classic mosaic floor, magnificent pewter bar, antique light fixtures with hand-painted murals. The interior space is as beautiful as the food and service are outstanding. We've been many times over the years, and recently Sandi and I dined at Bouchon to celebrate her birthday. Please join us for a six minute and 46 second conversation about this marvelous restaurant. And do yourself a favor next time you're in Las Vegas… Beat It To Bouchon!
Delilah Las Vegas is a Swanky, Upscale, Throwback to the 20s and 30s restaurant with great food, entertainment, and all kinds of great looking people hanging about. We were seated promptly, ate wonderful food, and left wanting more... but be careful.Delilah was a treat and will get even better as it matures.Enjoy!
We're back in Vegas at Wazuzu, a restaurant we have walked past hundreds of times. It was always full and doesn't take reservations so we thought it was just another Vegas buffet.Au contraire mon frère!Wazuzu is a great little find on the casino floor at the Encore in Las Vegas. Great food, terrific service, lovely atmosphere... don't walk past it. Get on your dragon and dive in! You definitely won't be sorry.
Our guest today is none other than co-host Sandra Mak Noelting talking about her newest cookbook... Respect The Rice (available from Barnes & Noble).Just released, Sandra's Respect The Rice cookbook was created to provide a little guidance and a lot of flavors. Respect the Rice was born from Sandra's passion… a desire to demonstrate and instruct us how excellent meals can be created from those boxes of rice, some chicken, and a few other ingredients that you probably already have on-hand.Listen while Sandra explains where it all came from. White Limozeen. A newish 'over-the-top, indoor-outdoor rooftop bar & restaurant' atop the Graduate Hotel in near-downtown Nashville. It's a fluffy pink and white place with a great selection of specialty drinks, Nashville's version of homestyle French menu items, great service, and even better people watching.A bit of a young crowd and usually crowded, so there's usually a little wait time.We liked it . We want to go back. We think you'll find it interesting too. Listen to our review, give it a try and let us know what you think.Cheers!
Shades of NOLA! This new (to Nashville) breakfast and brunch spot is in the Hillsboro Village area of Nashville in one of the newly-built buildings on Belcourt and 21st. With a great menu of starters, specialties, eggs & omelets and, of course, their full-line of benedicts, coffees, cocktails and beer, this place is a must! We visited recently and had a delicious meal with a hint of New Orleans.Hope you like it as much as we did. Listen here for our review.
We're back... at Perry's Steakhouse & Grille in the Cool Springs area of Nashville.Perry's Cool Springs ( I think that's what they're calling it) brings their "award-winning menu, impeccable ambiance, unique signatures, tableside presentations and exceptional service for DINE-IN or TO-GO"... straight off their website - And I we agree!Great Bar, Great Dining, Great Service. Try It, You'll Like It. But go early. It's popular and fills-up fast. Sandi and I have been a couple times and really liked it. Listen here and we'll tell you all about it. Bon Appétit
What a delightful little Italian Restaurant!Good food, cozy little atmosphere, great service... what else do you need. We had a nice time and a safe time at CoCo's in Nashville. A little tricky to find and kind of hard to get into, but take the time. It's worth it for a fun evening with good Italian food.Enjoy!

Pancho & Lefty's Cantina is the newest offering from the same Pancho & Lefty's Cantina in downtown Nashville. This one is located in the old Local Taco building in the Sylvan Park neighborhood. We were lucky to visit this cool Mexican restaurant before the lock-downs and we had a great time with interesting Mexican food, tequila, and beer. You definitely have something to look forward to when the air is clear and social distances get smaller.
Josephine is a cool, intimate restaurant on 12 South in Nashville. Really good food by an award winning chef with great service in a comfortable setting. Set your sights high and have a delicious brunch or dinner at Josephine.
etc. (Etcetera) restaurant in the Green Hills area of Nashville is a gorgeous little place with outstanding food. Tucked behind Green Hills, this unassuming location has some of the best food we've eaten this year. With great food, a great vibe, good drinks, and good service, this place is already in the running for 'Best of 2020'.You'll love it!
Deacons New South is perfectly named for its New South, aged steaks and excellent dining selections. A large restaurant, Deacon's serves not only aged steaks but all the other meats, fish, and birds you can shake a steak knife at. Farm fresh food - charcuterie, veges, gluten free stuff, great drinks, excellent service - are all staples at this modern and very cool restaurant. Take a trip to downtown Nashville and dine in style at Deacon's New South.
The Butcher & Bee is a modern, farm-to-table restaurant with a very broad and super interesting menu. Prepared flawlessly, the unique dining selections are created just a glance away over a utilitarian chef's counter... which we recommend. Great dining, drinking, and people-watching are run-of-the-mill at Butcher & Bee.East Nashville is just a hop across the Cumberland River and it's well worth the drive to visit Butcher & Bee. And did I mention the awesome Israeli Fried Chicken? Wow.See you there!
Muriel's Jackson Square is called a 'casual, fine dining' restaurant... but the only thing casual about the place might be a few of the patrons, because the food is Upscale, Contemporary Creole Cuisine! Nothing casual about that. The Bar & Courtyard, the Seance Lounge, the Plantation, all provide lovely evidence of the history packed into this building and restaurant that is Muriel's. Craft cocktails, elegant dining space, spectacular dining selections (don't forget the crawfish & goat cheese crepes! YUM), comfortable, delicious, easy to find... French Quarter at it's best.
The Pelican Club, on the corner of Bienville and Exchange Alley in the French Quarter, is a cozy, contemporary Creole restaurant with my favorite duck dish in the whole world... Trio of Duck. The Escargot en Croute is also awesome and provides a yummy appetizer to any of the delicious ala carte entrees. Three separate dining areas - including a great bar - gives you enough reasons to go back again and again.Great art on the walls, great food on the table, talent in the kitchen, and first class service on the floor makes for a one-of-a-kind, French Quarter experience you won't forget.
Put on your Pink Poodle Skirt or your Fonzie Leather Jacket and beat it down to Fat Kat Slim's... a modern, retro diner in the heart of blossoming downtown Nashville. This is a very kool joint that has a lot going on. Good food, good menu, good drinks, good vibe, cool 50's chatskis... we spent an afternoon scoping out Fat Kat Slim's and came away happy.Listen up and take trip down to Fat Kat Slim's for a Twilight Zone, Dobie Gillis, Rick Nelson getaway. You'll be glad you did.
Restaurant R'evolution is an upscale, modern, somewhat exciting, New Orleans restaurant with a very modern and revolutionary update to Cajun and Creole cooking. The cross-cultural fusion of food and flavors is built on the culinary history of seven nations that contributed to the unique flavors so integral to NO.We spent Christmas 2019 at Restaurant R'evolution and enjoyed the restaurant, bar, vibe, food... this place has it all.
2019 was a great year... we ate delicious food, drank wonderful libations, and hung-out at some very cool places! This episode highlights the best restaurants, best dishes, and the most interesting places Sandi and I reviewed in 2019. Stay tuned for a great, new Season 2.
Biscuit Love is a cute little breakfasty restaurant in Hillsboro Village, Nashville, in the old Sunset Grill location. Good menu with lots of unique eats... like Bonuts! Don't leave without trying some Bonuts and the potato casserole is yummy also. There are two other Biscuit Love locations... one in Franklin and one in the Gulch. Open from 7 to 3 every day, you're sure to find something good to eat and drink.
Central Bar + Kitchen is touted as 'West End's Hottest New Restaurant'... so we had to try it on for size. This new restaurant, located on West End in the Nashville Marriott at Vanderbilt University, serves good food, good service, and has a fairly well-stocked bar. We found one-of-a-kind items on the menu that were as tasty as they were unique. With an attractive, comfortable indoor dirinkery and dining room, Central Bar + Kitchen can easily host your casual get-together, bachlorette party, holiday festivities, or just a great hang. And, don't forget... you can play Santa and participate in their holiday toy drive by taking a new child's to to be donated to charity. That action will get you a free appetizer!
Today we’re taking a few liberties with our policy to not review chains - at least large chains - but we found a pretty cool Italian restaurant in Nashville that we think is worthy of sharing. It’s called North Italia and it’s on the perimeter of the Green Hills Mall in Nashville Tennessee. There seems to be a lot happening in Green Hills these days!Anyway, the food was very good, the service was good, and it had a very open, airy, kind of urban feel. Oh, and brunch and Happy Hour. What more could you want?Listen and try it out... see what you think. We liked it.
After a short break (due to caloric overload from our Go West Tour) Sandi and I are back in business this holiday season with new, cool places to eat, drink, and hangout. To kick it off, we’re at Cole’s Kitchen in Nashville. Cole’s is the re-invention of the Firefly Grille by Master Restaurateur Curt Cole with one of Nashville’s best menus. Give it a listen and please… Go To Cole’s.
The Mockingbird - one of Maneet Chauhan's Morph Hospitality Group Restaurants - is a cool, eclectic diner in an 'Old-School-Meets-the-Future' kind of way. With a deep menu full of surprises from around the world, good service from right here in Nashville, and a refreshing spin on downtown eateries... this place will make you smile. Please give it a try.
If you're a wine lover - and even if you're not - the 64 Wine Bar & Kitchen in Naperville, Illinois will make you very happy. 64 self-serve wines by the glass tops the list of really cool things you'll find here. The fascinating wine dispensers made me want to take one home. Nice bar, tables, and a great patio round out the list of cool things. An intriguing menu with very good food and terrific service make this restaurant a requirement! A tidy spot with with a lot of appeal. Try it on for size... you'll want one of those wine dispensers, too.
Salt Cellar Restaurant, Scottsdale... This surprising little subterranean restaurant is a seafood gem in an underground location - literally underground - known for its New England-style seafood served in an intimate underground hideaway with seaside decor & a bar. We were as delighted as we were surprised as we were served great seafood by a knowledgeable and attentive staff. This is definitely a 'must-do'.
Mora Italian, Scott Conant's Italian restaurant in Phoenix, is an upscale - but affordable - fun place to eat and drink. Located in the 'Golden Mile Corridor' between Camelback and Glendale, Mora has something for everybody. Clean wood and brick and red leather ambience with a large bar that opens onto a patio, Mora lives up to the picky pasta maker's reputation. If you haven't been, go... if you have been, go back and try something new. Our experience was first-class and our food was even better.
The Six | Seven Restaurant & Bar at the Edgewater Hotel in Seattle is our 5th stop on the Bill & Sandi Go West Tour, and what a stop it was! You probably know the Edgewater from the famous picture of those zany lads from Liverpool fishing out of their window. In any case, the Six | Seven was a delight, full of character, fun, and delicious dining and drinking. Our food was excellent, the service was great, and the atmosphere was always full of fun. Take a trip to Seattle just to visit the Six | Seven, and you'll know what we mean.
The Harbor Grill in Dana Point is a marina-side restaurant featuring some of the freshest and best seafood available. With a cozy dining room and a colorful garden terrace, Harbor Grill has welcomed guests for over 30 years with a variety of fresh seafood prepared in a bunch of different styles, a great wine list, premium cocktails, and service to die for.Whenever we're in the neighborhood, Harbor Grill is a definite go-to spot for lunch, dinner, and Sunday Champagne Breakfast. Oh... and don't forget the best key lime Pie outside of Key West!
We cruise down the Pacific Coast Highway and visit Watermarc as we continue the 'Bill & Sandi Go West Tour'. Watermarc Restaurant brings together the vision of pairing great food with great beverage. Not only is the Mayor's Table fun, comfortable, and entertaining... it's delicious!Located in the Lido House in Newport Beach, California (the old City Hall), The Mayor's Table is a very cool place to settle in for an evening of fine dining, great imbibing, and awesome hanging. Second stop on 'The Bill & Sandi Go West Tour', it was hard to leave with a great restaurant, rooftop bar and lounge, menu to die for... what else do you need?Stop by the Lido House and spend time at the Mayor's Table Pacific Pub and Kitchen. You will love it.
Mott 32 is a great new Asian themed restaurant in the Palazzo Casino in Las Vegas, Nevada... Vegas Baby, Vegas. Named for the first Chinese bodega in Manhattan in the mid 1800s, there are three Mott32s, and currently this is the only one in the the US. It's a lovely restaurant... a little dark and mysterious, with really good food and fun, interesting appointments. The menu is deep with a lot of options for you and your friends and family. You'll love this new-age Chinese restaurant.
The Rutledge is a modern, attractive, yummy new restaurant in Nashville, Tennessee serving modern American grill food. Located in the Green Hills area, we found The Rutledge to be comfortable and populare with a pleasant, unique menu. You can't miss the big white building... once you get close. Take a drive into Cool Springs just south of Nashville, have some lunch, dinner, or enjoy Happy Hour at this cool, new restaurant brought to you by the people that brought you Jonathan's.
Pemrose is committed to upgrading seafood dining in Nashville, and it's off to a great start! Located in the Gulch area of downtown Nashville, we visited Pemrose to check it out first-hand. With a comfortable atmosphere - a respite to the hectic bustle of growing downtown Nashville - we're sure you'll find it just as delightful and delicious as we did.
Pinewood Social is a very cool multi-activity joint housed in an old Trolley Barn in the Mill Hills area of Downtown Nashville. On the banks of the Cumberland river and chock full of history, this venue is also full of great food, a retro bowling alley, patio and pool, coffee bar... it's all great fun and great food. Take a trip downtown and enjoy Pinewood Social as much as we do.
Germantown Pub is a great little neighborhood bar and grill in the Germantown area just north of downtown Nashville. Good pub food, adult beverages, lots of beer for the beer-minded, a couple patios, and a really friendly atmosphere. Oh, and ask for the Pizza Burger. Yeow!
Emmy Squared is a craft pizza restaurant with loads of character, good pizza, and other interesting food selections. Fairly new to Nashville, the Emmy Squared that we're talking about today has been in its current location in Green Hills for about a month, so we're diving in early!
Jardin Restaurant at the Encore (Wynn) in Las Vegas is one you won't want to miss. Casual, Light, Airy, Romantic, Delicious... what else can I say? Great place, a bit out of the way, at least not smack-dab in the heart of tourist-ville. Yes, it's between the Encore Casino and the Wynn Casino, but it's a little slower, more leisurely paced restaurant. Oh, and it's beautiful! Oh, and the food and service are great!
Italian at it's best. For every occasion or just for a great hang, eat and drink at Giovanni Ristorante. One of the top ten in Nashville, we always have a great time, great food, great service, and make great memories.
Upstairs, as the name suggests, this is a great Key West restaurant with a great view and great food. Close to Mallory Square in Old Town, The Roof Top Cafe has been a Key West favorite for 30 years. You can't go wrong
Visit Abbondanza for for great Italian food, great service, and a great Italian, island experience. We've been to Abbondanza many times and highly recommend it for both locals and visitors to Key West. Full menu, sizable portions, wine and booze as expected... you won't be disappointed when you hang out at this Old Town favorite.
Quaint, Intimate, Unique... oh, and Delicious. The Yellow Porch in Nashville's Berry Hill area is a longtime favorite of ours. Interesting and eclectic food items are perched on the menu of this great little restaurant for lunch and dinner. See what you think. We're pretty sure you'll love it as we do.
