EJ interviews two winning scholarship recipients, the Senior Director of Operations and Community Relations at Keeneland, and Lane's End Farm's Tours and Hospitality manager. Battaglia also discusses some of the other Derby hopefuls of Trainer Kenny McPeek and the lifelong impact of Hall of Famer D. Wayne Lukas.    

The setting is President's Day at Oaklawn Park as EJ talks with Oaklawn Director of Racing, Jennifer Hoyt who comments on Oaklawn's new casino and hotel and the Rebel Stakes. The Trainer of Barber Road, John Ortiz, also is featured on the podcast as he explains how he came up through the industry ranks and now has a contender for the Kentucky Derby.

Lane and E.J. spotlight The G2 Twinspires.com Louisiana Derby featuring favorite, Epicenter. Owned by Winchell Thoroughbreds. Other contenders Rattle N Roll , Galt and Pioneer of Medina are discussed. In addition, 2 year Champion Filly, Echo Zulu, is the heavy favorite in the Twinspires.com Fairgrounds Oak. Both horses are owned or co-owned by Winchell Thoroughbreds  We learn from guest, David Fiske, Why this weekend is a super weekend for Winchell Thoroughbreds from Dubai to Louisiana and New Mexico.  

We talk with Hall of Fame guest Jay Privman and also revisit our previous interview with John Ortiz.

Just before basketball kicks off their March Madness, the Road to the Kentucky Derby kicks into high gear with four prep races. Highlighted by the Fountain of Youth at Gulfstream Park, this weekend will show off the rising stars in racing. Caleb Keller from TVG and trainer Kenny McPeek join the show and E.J. and Lane break down the four big races.

Only one prep race this week on The Road to the Derby but it's a wide open Grade 2 Risen Star Stakes  at the Fairgrounds. EJ sets it up and Lane breaks the race down. The Grade 2 Rachel Alexandra Stakes for 3 year old fillies (a Kentucky Oaks prep) is also discussed. Plus the guys recap the last three weeks of Derby preps and talk about the impact of a key race: The Kentucky Jockey Club Stakes at Churchill Downs last November. KWC is Officially 25 years old with this show in February 22.

The Kentucky WInners Circle kicks off the Road to Kentucky Derby 2022 with two great interviews and a look ahead to this weekend's Prep Races.  We spoke with Jerry Crawford about Mo Donegal. They "are over the Moon" about Mo Donegal's chances in the Holy Bull. Crawford says his group is "trying to catch lightning in a bottle" to make it to the Kentucky Derby. Trainer Kenny McPeek told us he has no concerns about Tiz the Bomb racing back on dirt. Smile Happy and Tiz the Bomb are work mates but McPeek says he will keep them in separated in their races for now.

We discuss the huge news of Medina Spirit's positive test and what it means for Baffert and Horse Racing's future. 

With the Derby Prep races over, the final countdown is on for the Kentucky Derby. We run down the Derby field as it stands with two weeks to go. In addition, trainer Kenny McPeek talks about Swiss Skydiver in the Apple Blossom and we wrap up our conversation with WLKY Sports Director Fred Cowgill.
