Two local monks missing; Last seen outside local monastery drinking a liquid known as the "Sacred Brew". Appearing in a series of cryptic videos and audio files (released on Mondays and Thursdays) released on the internet, they seem to be alive and well and are being forced to interview hilarious, t…
In this glorious return to form during the great pandemic of '20, the monks sat down and shared their thoughts on how creativity can drive a man mad, how technology enables us to do the big dumb dumb all the time, and how we may all need an existential crisis every now and then to stay sharp. Of course, none of it makes sense. But it's all a lot of fun! Actually wait...
So, plot! What is it? How did it get there? Have you lost it? Luckily, we sort-of-half-have an idea of the answers to some of these questions! This is #monksgang and the day has arrived when the airwaves will be irreconcilably stained by the presence of part 2 of our storytelling series. Get the cat in the microwave and the popcorn burning and prop the fire up on your lap, it's gonna be a brainy one.
Salutations comrades! In this first installment of our five part starytelling series we talk about the basic ideas that act as the inspirational spark for a writer (character relationships, world building), and take the first horrific steps towards generating our own nightmare-fuel fictional hellscape; communist orcworld.
Greetings compadres, this weeks the monks got down and dirty with Charlie Chaplin and his time on America's naughty step and dissected HBO's new TV take on Alan Moore's classic comic book Watchmen! Enjoy!!!
Hello there children. This week the monks had the pleasure of interviewing five time Emmy award nominated puppeteer and criminal consultant, John Ethan Charleston. We taked about the perils of wardrobe malfunctions in the workplace, the imminent rise of the sadboi machines and Elon Musk's piss drenched fleet of tesla taxis soon to be roaming the streets of San Francisco mowing down drunks and racoons alike. Enjoy!!!
Wagwan brethren, this week the Monks returned from a disappointingly riot free trip to the city of Barcelona and immediately sat down to talk about a violence riddled movie, "Joker"! We talked about what we liked and didn't, briefly discussed some of the finer points of the film's psychology (badly) and compared Joaquin Phoenix's turn as the clown prince of crime with that of his predecessors. Enjoy!
Greetings friends, and thanks for tuning in, or at least reading the f*****g description, you crafty dogs! This week the monks reflected on the points of last week's podcast and subsequently came to discuss the damaging nature of social media (again) and then to contemplate all of our dooms in the fiery clutches of climate change. Enjoy!
What's up fellow spooky bois. This week our intrepid heroes delved deep into the psyche of a one master James Hogan in an attempt to piece together the puzzle of his missing genre: the so called "Badass Horror". They discussed the music, worldbuilding and character design that would make this genre tick, and used some of the lessons learned along the way to piece together some wisdom. Also, at some point Mykola farts (ha). Enjoy!!!
Greetings fellow sentient beings! During this cycle of employment and subsequent relaxation, the monks decided to rant for excessive amounts of time about one of their favourite time wasters, the infamous Rick and Morty! They played a game of Roy (with very mixed and sometimes horrifying results) and then launched head on into the show's philosophy. Enjoy!
Salutations fellow believers in the great, flying lasagna lord, and thank you for blessing us up with your sacred presence. On this 32nd foray into the world of podcasting, the monks lament with sorrow and joy their return to university and then promptly engage in a lengthy lecture about the nature of intelligence. Spread the fairly-alright-not-too-bad-news!!!
My good friends, this podcast constitutes the greatest act of blasphemy in the history of our young nation's constitution. So, if you're into that sort of thing, sit back, strip down to your undies and grab yourself a sizable bucket of full fat bacon fires; this one gets greasy. And the good carpet shall be spoiled.
In a frankly bizarre and meandering outing, the monks discuss the power of a lazy mind and how all of our dumb-dumb heads are responsible for the strange state in which the world presently finds itself. Side paths include a brief period of time travel assisted sabotage and a cheeky bit of hypnosis via repetition. Enjoy!!!
Good afternoon ladies and gents, thanks for tuning in. In this wildly inconsistent roller coaster ride of a podcast, the monks bounce from cautionary tales of butchers with scissors, to tricky riddles, to memories of failed communist states. Honestly at this point, you all know what sort of sh*te to be expecting. Enjoy, or we'll come to your house and rob your left socks!
"Monkus Trunkus, diddledy dunkus, prepare to be cursed by the greatest chungus." -Stoner Steve (God rest his soul) Greetings brethren, and welcome to this unholy sermon. In this episode, our unlikely heroes discuss Leo's rise to power as Ireland's benevolent dictator, and the truth of brother James's plan to fool the curious masses is revealed. Stay tuned; this one gets weird.
Salutations my treasured acquaintances, and welcome to our humble abode. On this week's episode our disheveled heroes discussed our new episode naming system, the perils of drawing your country's leader in the classroom, and the origins of James Bond. Many rabbit holes were traversed; all have been gassed and sealed for all eternity. Enjoy!!!
So. You're here, you made it. Was starting to think I'd be waiting all day. Take the shoes off please, I don't want you to scuff the floor. Now, here's how this is gonna go. You're gonna sit your ass down, flake out and listen, intently. Absorb every word, every sweet drop of nonsense, because one day an old man will knock on your door and make some pretty serious threats. There is a very specific sequence of words which will cause this old man to enter into a dormant state. Those words are contained in this podcast. So listen up, and relax, you've still got time. At least... some time.
Salutations my brethren, and welcome to this latest episode of Monks in the Trunk. In this outing, the monks discuss the benefits and disadvantages of being a wooden toy, and ponder the likelihood that a pair of dangerous cartoon characters lie dormant in their back garden awaiting the perfect moment to arise from their slumber. Also, insurance was flogged. Lots of insurance. Enjoy!
Greetings my dear followers, and welcome back to this asscamp of wisdom and foolishness. This week we caught up with Megan Yeates, science student and immunity enthusiast, and talked about the fascinating and brutal world of disease and cure. We roasted the anti-vaxx community, discussed new cancer treatment methods and briefly brought up James's favourite topic of consciousness. So please enjoy our most technical and in depth podcast yet, and if you have any questions, google the answers ya dweebs. How are my favourite apostles, this week the monks sat down and talked dirty with future forensic scientist Jonathan Charles, and gained an insight into the wacky and ruthless world of forensic investigation. We went over some disturbing crimes and how the perpetrators were caught, discussed the finer details of some interesting forensic techniques and occasionally spouted about Mark Zuckerburg and semen (separately, of course). How we doing boyos and girlos, for our second foray into the den of mischief that is the TFM studio, we talked to Luke Rynne Cullen, young entrepreneur and trinity orchestra frontman. We discussed the obstacles that face startups in the modern world, the authenticity of ideas and went on a brief offshoot into the field of economics. It was surprisingly interesting, even for someone (James) who had no clue what was going on! On this episode we settled into our new surroundings in Trinity, discussed our brief hiatus and also delved into some wacky sci-fi shit, including teleportation and time travel. Greetings my enlightened siblings and welcome back to this videographical pillar of society. On what was possibly the least Christmassy December day in living memory, the Monks arrived at Audiohaus Dublin, kicked off their sodden boots and donned the famous robes for a chat with the man known as Meeks. We discussed Mykola being inspired and discovering purpose, Mykola being inspired and discovering purpose, and Mykola being inspired and discovering purpose. Oh, we also briefly touched on a phenomenon known as the law of attraction (not about pulling nurses in Copper's) and were periodically reminded about the crushing reality of a 9-5 life. Enjoy!
