Most higher ed campaigns play it safe—and end up milk toast. In this episode of Talking Tactics, Safaniya Stevenson sits down with Baldwin&'s Ashley Yetman and Emily Watson to unpack why bold ideas beget bold design. Partnering with the North Carolina School Board Association on a hearts & minds campaign, they leaned into disarming nostalgic illustrations and creator collaborations to humanize messaging. They reveal how taking creative risks can unite communities, energize audiences, and spark real impact in education marketing.Guest Names:Ashley Yetman, Co-CEO, Director of Brand Strategy, Baldwin&Emily Watson, Group Creative Director, Baldwin&Guest Socials: Ashley Yetman - https://www.linkedin.com/in/ashley-yetman-a39a0b14/Emily Watson - https://www.linkedin.com/in/emily-watson-b9383312/Guest Bios:Ashley Yetman - As 1/3 of the kick-ass, co-CEO team, Ashley Yetman has been growing and leading the brand strategy practice at Baldwin& since 2016 — after years in the Bay Area, working on global brands like Apple, Audi, AAA and Callaway Golf. Happy Tuesday! We're basically a whole new radio station, Common Man longs for Baker Mayfield, lots of QB injuries, Tom Brady is a little too involved in the Raiders, we go Inside the Buckeyes, CBJ have playoff plans, Krispy Kreme needs a You Open? guy, Dabo has a meltdown, we recap the Ryan Day presser & we give you some Rapid Fire.
Happy National Farm Animal Awareness Week, everyone! In this episode, we're both running on fumes. Mike just got off a redeye flight, having slept maybe three hours total, and is in physical pain. Erin has just returned to normalcy after a week-long "crash out" that started when something fell out of a kitchen cabinet. This was all happening while she was also having a nightmare with QuickBooks and her taxes, manually entering transactions and spending days dehydrated at a co-working space to meet the deadline. Meanwhile, Mike was in Seattle and Bellingham for a wedding, staying in a beautiful, architect designed house on a lake that had some definite signs of wealth. Biggest problem was the Wi-Fi. We also share our thoughts on a rather sad whale museum he visited that had a comically small TV for its theater. We then get into some planning for our upcoming trip to Ohio to ride the Goodyear blimp, debating whether we should fly or drive. We give a PSA for the upcoming Track and Field World Championships in Tokyo before diving into some NFL stories , including a niche Philly Eagles bar in Tokyo , Jalen Hurts' mom's unhinged TikTok posts , a breakdown of which NFL stadium has the most expensive hot dog and the cheapest, and the hilarious story of Hunter Renfrow missing calls from the Panthers because his daughter was watching Bluey. We also react to a bongo performance of the national anthem at a hockey game and give an important update on Erin's garage toad, Toady. We discuss the controversy surrounding comedian Hannah Berner, who is being accused by fellow comedian Kim Congdon of not paying $10,000 for jokes used in her comedy special. We also celebrate the return of the viral "Krispy lady," who finally tried a Krispy Kreme donut. We cover some interesting competitions, like the world record for the fastest 100 meter dash on Legos barefoot and a high stakes boat docking competition in the Chesapeake Bay. We also talk about the man who breakdanced during a city council meeting to protest a property tax hike. Finally, we share the incredibly wholesome tale of a mom who asked the "workmen of the world" to help convince her son to take naps.

This one's for the P-Hounds only — and wow, do we get feral. JD retells the legend of a friend who ate 36 Krispy Kremes in a single day — a tale of gluttony, shame, and heroic replenishment runs. We spiral into Donut Daddy mukbang hell (yes, he sticks his fingers in them). Rachel relives flight trauma with a sweaty cigar-stained kilt man and a bag-bin bandit who deserved the death penalty. Plus: panic-ordering salads at LaGuardia, pit stain reveals, and an AMA that somehow turns into a Coen Brothers bus-driver mobster pitch. It's chaos. It's gross. It's oddly arousing (don't ask). It's Thumb War at its most unhinged. If you're reading this and you're not a Patron? You're missing the donut dump of the century. Subscribe to our Patreon! http://bit.ly/44Mo8xU Send us an email! Ryan Detrick, chief market strategist at the Carson Group, says that he expects the stock market to go through "a 4% to 6% normal, mild pullback" in short order, a downturn that he says is likely to be good for the market, helping it get ready to benefit from positive economic news and an eventual cut in interest rates. Detrick says that he expects developed Europe to remain strong, and he believes investors who are heeding market worries should rebalance their portfolios to get back onto their plan, because diversification pays off when a market is touchy about headline events. David Trainer, founder and president at New Constructs, says that while warm Krispy Kreme donuts may make people happy, the company's stock — which he has warned about since it went through its IPO in June 2021 — is stale. He says that this is a meme stock with a negative economic book value and real potential to go to zero. Tom Martin, senior portfolio manager at Globalt Investments, brings his disciplined, earnings-driven approach to stocks to the Market Call.

The meme stock craze kicked back into full throttle again, but this time, the rally might have been driven by AI. In this episode we dive into how AI models could have been the key influence to a new era of meme stocks, including OpenDoor and Krispy Kreme. Send us a textIn this week's episode of The Skinny on Wall Street, Kristen and Jen break down the latest wave of meme stock mania and what it reveals about market sentiment. They dive into Opendoor and other “DORK” stocks (Krispy Kreme, Opendoor, Kohl's, etc.), explaining how short squeezes and retail investor hype have driven massive price swings despite weak fundamentals. The conversation also unpacks the housing market's current dynamics—record-high home prices, the impact of higher mortgage rates, and why real estate inventory levels are starting to shift. The hosts then turn their attention to policy, analyzing Marjorie Taylor Greene's proposal to remove the capital gains tax cap on primary residences. They explore whether this change would meaningfully improve housing affordability or simply benefit older, wealthier homeowners, and why the real barrier for many sellers is “mortgage rate lock-in.” Kristen and Jen also discuss how inventory, pricing trends, and affordability challenges are shaping the broader market outlook. Finally, they examine how AI is creeping into investment banking with OpenAI's new “agentic mode” designed to automate financial modeling. Kristen and Jen share their hands-on experience testing the tool, explaining where it can help and where it falls short. They discuss the risks of over-reliance on AI, the importance of building skills manually, and what the rise of these tools might mean for the future of knowledge work. For a 14 day FREE Trial of Macabacus, click HERE Our Investment Banking and Private Equity Foundations course is LIVEnow with our M&A course included!
