So this tale is about business and personal. Even though at first things seemed challenging and a bit of an 'oops' type situation, when you 'own up' gifts emerge totally unexpectedly! Quite a few blessings, in fact. So these 2 stories intertwine with my perspective and I hope you can relate and get a smile out of my Life Lessons. I'd love a comment and definitely a share - you probably know someone that would appreciate knowing someone else had this goof! Passing On A Smile, Gail Foley P.S. This is a subject dear to my heart, because it's how I've built my businesses for years. Social Media showed up long after this became my main mode of operation. Guess, what? I have wrestled for years to use my in person networking efforts online. Just have never grasped it, so I finally accept that. But whether you have or not, however, you connect - the fun is learning about the other person - it is NOT, and I repeat, it is NOT about you! Having a true sense of curiosity of wanting to help people is what I believe makes it fun and leads to so many gems. One a new friend, two other friends, and three doing business with one another. But your true wealth comes from being known as a "Connector". To get the call, 'who do you know'? That brings me so much joy that I can actually help someone connect and collaborate with someone else. I hope this episode speaks to you and you find a different posture in your networking or embrace that you are already a connector. 'Cause it's AWESOME fun!! Hello my awesome listeners :-)  Just finally showing up to re-engage you in fixing what I really never did... I promised 7 years ago when I started this to always help you on your 'success journey', but I'm not really sure my stories did that.  Although I did leave you with a lesson, but were you able to apply it to your business? So I am switching it up and starting a private FaceBook group to invite those that really want to learn the things I've used to succeed.  It's not launched yet, but will be Your Success Connector. I will help you navigate if you  struggle connecting at networking events or just want to learn some of the things I use for growing my business. And one of the BEST tools I have alluded to, is my business, but never truly shared with you.  Shame on me.  So I plan to change all that. You'll find me every day on YouTube - my Live FB videos will be there!  And I will be showing many of the ways my business tools help people succeed. I would love for you to share whatever business tools you use and like.  Include your affiliate link if you have one :-) So you'll hear from me more often! And always, passing on a smile, Gail

Hello One Awesome Communities. Thank you for tuning in - once again I've been out of the loop and missing bringing you my messages.  First I had 2 weeks of computer re-set issues, which just getting this broadcast done was a challenge with a reset. And now I'm into my third week of a bronchial virus that has my voice a little bit whacked. But my message today all about stepping forward or stepping back depending on what path you're on or where the next one might take you. I was going to call it "You've Got The Power with Introspection" but that bored me right out of the gate.  So I'll just make it up as a go - haven't heard much about the series so there ya go. Sometimes we don't necessarily look back with regret, just a wonder.  What if I had done this instead of that?  It's said we should not look back, but sometimes we need to to know where we're headed next.  Every step we take leads our future, ever so slightly.  Doesn't have to be a major step.  Sometimes the most simple of things can have a huge impact on our lives. I tell a silly story about a path I almost took and really scratch my head on where this would take me.   I say some goofy things on here instead of referring to our awesome trainer by name, Brenda, I say the woman.  I blame on my froggy voice and foggy brain. I hope you have an over the top awesome day and weekend. Passing On A Smile, Gail

Today's episode is my usual story line of things I laugh at, but dig just a bit deeper in how you can use it in your business.  Diffuse the embarrassing moment, by seeing humor in it, at yourself, never at the expense of someone else... Today's show is all about how much this world needs more kindness. There are billboards around our town reminding people of that. And I forgot to mention that on my show.  This episode could go quite long if I quote all the signs of us needing more kindness towards each other. So I reflect on 3 articles that I just saw yesterday.  Two in our local Sunday paper.  This first one was on the Opinion page, by a Judge. The headline "Key to saving our nation is for us to love our neighbors." I think showing kindness to our neighbors is a great way to love our neighbors, don't you? And our local long time social columnist headlined her column, "Next time try a handwritten note instead of sending a text". Kindness and caring in a note, card, or a scrap piece of paper and it comes in the mail!!! What a concept!! Nothing new, but something forgotten that we need to renew, revitalize and take a true moment of your time to express something as simple as "Thinking of you." And send it in the mail NOT in a text. And the last reference from a national publication.  "Pen, Paper and Sympathy"...in these emotional times, the simple act of writing a note means so much. So listen in to hear more of my reflections on how we can show kindness every day, it will spread and blossom to the next person as they receive it. And my own personal perspective, I get a thrill when I receive a card, but I get triple the joy when I send it. Try it - see if that doesn't happen for you, too! You can find out how I send cards and what makes this show possible at HeyCardLady.com Just send something today, no matter how you do it. I promise you you will make a difference to someone! Wow!  It has been a day or two since I've been on here!  My last episode was during a lot of commotion and I took a step back and started enjoying things I had long put aside.  But I'm excited to come back with a new series called, "You've Got The Power" because we all do.  It just may take a lot to find it and use it.  Our ups and downs do not define us, how we work through them and appreciate the lessons we've learned, is what will. No one listening to me today is the same person you were when you heard me last, in any normal circumstances, but especially in our past year.  So I continue to focus on the power of being grateful for this moment.  As tough as it may be, you cannot hold a negative thought or feeling while you are feeling or expressing gratitude. I will be bringing one attribute a week in this series and will be posting the video version on my You Tube channel as always. YouTube.com/gailfoley  And there will be more short videos regularly on how as a business your gratitude can give your customers a fabulous customer experience!  And I no longer have my website.  I will have a new podcast channel format, very soon, but you can still find me where you usually do. This show is made possible by my many years of being the Hey Card Lady and it has never ever been more important than now to express gratitude to others as well.  So I am grateful for having many means to share that with you.  I cannot express in words how awesome it makes me feel to see people are still listening.  Thank you from the bottom of my heart. Ironically I actually talked about making a small shift on my show in July 2019.  Little did I know what a HUGE shift we would have a year later. My show today is after 2  1/2 months of silence from me.  I've been through the anger, the sadness, the hopelessness, the confusion, the anger again, the sleeplessness - and back again! I really was at a loss on what I might be able to say to inspire or enlighten you.  I was struggling to have some of my own.  I haven't found a way to do my card business because although a lot of people do it online, I've never been able to do that.  For 14 plus years my mode of operations has been in person networking.  And the 10 or more networking events I attend each month have all been sidelined.  So I still send cards and take care of my existing customers, but that's all. But I have undertaken the fun of sewing again - and making masks, then to a top or two.  This top in the video is hilarious - from the shoulders up I'm likin' it.  But beyond that I could fit one of my great grand babies in the front and her big sister in the back and you would never know they were there.  Not the right material for the pattern, but what I had. I also made a HUGE awning for my daughter's outdoor swing.  A friend of mine told me I'd bitten off more than I could chew - but I did it! But then I shifted to think maybe it was time to reconsider becoming a Quilter.  However, almost all of those tools are out of stock everywhere.  And the genius idea I had of taking a class was met with nope not right now! So the other day when my friend sent me a video about a solution she's found to sleep better I immediately took a look!  And then I looked some more!  I really truly liked what I saw!  So still the HeyCardLady, but also shifting to learn and play in another world of connections.  It's invigorating  to find a way to help people that is easy and self-explanatory.  So in lieu of passing on a smile - smile behind your mask and your eyebrows will prove you're smiling :-) Gail  Pass On

So I am always intrigued by expressions.  Where did they originate from and what in the world do they mean? I think most of us know what the expression 'Let's address the elephant in the room.' means, but what if you were not familiar with the phrase?  Wouldn't you be looking around for an elephant? What about the expression 'on a whim'?  What is a 'whim' and why would you anything on one? So I think you can see where I'm going with this.  As I did this show I tripped over a few more in just explaining this little language phenomenon. Wild ones that surprised me and new ones we wish we did not have. In conclusion I share some of my ideas on how to deal with our 'new norm' and how we might embrace life and others in a different way. All the times you see the expression, 'we're all in this together' may not seem fair to include you in your circumstances.  And my prayers go out to you.  But we truly are stuck in this situation together. I hope I give you just a glimmer of a smile and a bit of encouragement today.  And thank you for always giving me a smile and tons of encouragement when you continue listening to my perceptions.  Passing on a smile, always, to you,  Gail

This is one of my fun adventures that turned into a giggle fest that I cherish and love to share. I'd love to hear if you can relate to this funny one!  I know as I've personally shared this silly moment, many of us have experienced the same moment, just not with the same end results. I also want to re-iterate what we all need to feel right now - being connected.  Are you picking up the phone and saying Hi to someone you've not spoken to in a while or that you feel compelled to check on? I surprised myself by answering an email from someone I have not had any interest in connecting to in a life time of memories ago.  But it felt good to let the past fall away and to include that person who extended prayers to me.  Wild - I never thought I would ever do that. And, of course, I mention the one way that is easier for some people to reach out is to send a card, note, or picture because mail is still being delivered and the virus is not lingering on any of it.  If you don't have any stamps or cards or ways to send your friend or family member a note, just a reminder you can send cards from a free account with my HeyCardLady.com system, just have to fund it for what you want to send.  Easy and done for you, just put your words and pictures in it.  Or I believe the post office may still be open for stamps - I'd love a picture from my great grand baby who at 3 is quite the artist :-) I missed getting this done in March because I had to do a do over and than oops, it's April!  First time in 6 years I did not do at least one a month - plan on fixing that! I've only done 3 do overs in all these years, but had to be done! Be safe, stay healthy and we will overcome together. Passing On A Smile and a Virtual Hug, Gail

Common courtesy is all I'm asking for here!  That's what this show is all about.  How often are you left waiting and waiting for a return message?  Do you wait so long that you turn into a stalker trying to get a response? Well, I have and I don't like being that person, but I also hate hearing crickets!  I mean does it really take so much of someone's time to just answer back.  In all my many years of business practice that is the one thing I believed, at one time, was just a given.   In sales, I had to be the consistent itch to my advertisers making sure I got the ad, the new copy, the proof, the payment, etc.  Because I was responsible to the publication and wanted a paycheck for all my hard work. But today, and for the past 14 years I report only to myself.  As a network marketer I get a commission when I complete the sale, as in most sales position.  However, I don't have to report in to someone else first nor am I responsible for someone else's deadline or bottom line.   But it still stinks when someone cannot take time to answer back.  To return the proposal, to call you back.  I would much rather be told I am not interested than leave me hanging with a maybe.  Or have someone sign up for your service or product and never let you follow through on how to use it.  So why sign up? This has baffled me for a long time, but even more so as the skills of personal communication have been transferred to Social Media posts, likes and group interaction.  How about you and me, one on one?  All I'm asking for is common courtesy to respond in like.  If you were on the tennis court or playing pickleball or any game - would you not feel compelled to return the ball?   Passing On A Smile, Gail

I had written down several subjects to talk about today, but I researched my channel and oops, found out I talked on them way too many times already! So I went through my file of collected ideas.  Articles that spoke to me, ideas I had jotted down.  And the one article that grabbed me today was featured in the Sunday Morning Parade Magazine on March 15, 2015.  March 15th was my parent's anniversary - the Ides of March.  I should share that story some time :-) But today, it's about what this article shared in the power of our words and how they stir memories and bring back our past.  Some letters have changed the world.  In fact, that was the name of the article "Letters That Changed Our World." And I speak about it from my own personal perspective that hopefully will help you consider your own viewpoint on the subject. I've collected and kept cards and letters for years.  My mother and I, and now my daughter and I, get excited when we buy an old book and find a letter or note inside.  Or even that special inscription written in the book. It's a practice I've had forever when giving a book as a gift - I always write an inscription.  And so many books given to me, have been given with a very special message written inside. So this topic brought some good and bad memories to me, but I had to share how powerful they were for me.  And today I appreciate the difference between that heated email exchange and the softer words written in a note.  Have you ever written back in haste and anger and regretted it?  How about a letter?  Sometimes we cool down and don't send it or just feel relief that you wrote the feelings out? I'd love to hear what experiences you've had with words, the good, the bad, the ugly.  They all shape our worlds, some more profoundly more than others. Passing On A Smile, Gail

Let me share with you first why this title!  This quote spoke to me: "Life is like a ten-speed bike. Most of us have gears we never use."  ~ Charles Schultz And boy do I ever fall into that category!  So many gears I do not use.  But I also realize it's because I'm not always in alignment with my joy.   Joy shows up when we are in a place that align with our souls, our values, our dreams. I heard 2 speakers today that brought all this profoundly in front of me and helped me realize my own very recent journey.  You may have seen what I've been sharing on Social Media for about 3 weeks!  Facebook  and LinkedIn  When you're in alignment with what you do life works.  Cynthia and I always talk about you have to love what you do to be successful.  And so you have to define what success is for you.  Is it feeling joy at the end of the day?  Feeling of knocking it out of the ballpark?  What is it that brings you true satisfied feelings of total accomplishment? These are the questions I  pose to you on this show.  I've had many ups and downs since starting this podcast 5 years ago.  My passion for what I was doing at the time was waning and I had hoped to reinvigorate it with this show.  What I found was an entirely new passion!  And ironically, 5 years later the reason I got this started in the first place is finally reinvigorated thanks to a new company!!! So check out my pages, or simply visit me at HeyCardLady.com And as always, please share this, someone is needing to find that alignment, maybe this will encourage them.  One never knows :-) Thank you for listening.  I appreciate you so very very much. Love to know what you think on that subject!! What I talk about in this episode is how we're happy in our lives, in the relationships, the job, etc and then someone new comes along.  That new 'awful' boss.  That new addition to your friend's group that just rubs you wrong.  Oooh, you get the picture, I'm sure! It is never fun to have the dynamics of our lives shifted because of someone or something else suddenly entering into your picture. I talk about my dynamics being disrupted and how I literally had to move on, for my own sanity.  And this subject has come to me because someone who has been absent in my life for a very long time has decided to come back into it. It's been a peaceful few years, now unfortunately this one person will change my life's dynamics with tension and anxiety.  If I allow that.    I can't and I won't, so I share some of my strategies and perspectives on this subject that might shed some light on what you are dealing with.  It can literally be life altering as it has been for me.  Many have left me heart broken, but I continued to be me and found a way to learn and thrive in spite of it. So I hope this gives you some coping ideas.  And if you can, I'd love for you to share your ventures into the world of disrupted dynamics.  You cannot be in this world without that happening.  Hiding and hoping to keep them at bay are not sufficient to keep them out.    Thank you for listening :-) Passing On A Smile, Gail

One of my favorite quotes is: "If you have knowledge, let others light their candles in it."  ~ Margaret Fuller And that is basically what the show is about today! Do you have a wealth of wisdom that you are not sharing? Oh, I know, you're thinking I'm not an expert at anything, why would anyone listen to me?  Please step back and re-access this.  Each and every one of us knows something someone else may not.  It doesn't have to be monumental.  It can simply be what I share the majority of time, my perspective. If I'm thinking about something and I run it past a friend or two it expands my world and gives them an avenue to know they have knowledge someone else needs. Sharing YOU is all about participating in your ongoing education of life.  It's very profound when you think about it.  Do you ever help a new employee get the ropes of the place you've been employed maybe even a month longer?  That's invaluable in sharing YOU. Thankfully, I embrace sharing my stories because it is my passion so I am always sharing me.  And not only do I hope that my perspective will help someone, I feel blessed to be able to do that. If you have superior knowledge and experience and are passionate about something, maybe you can mentor people that need your guidance.  Maybe connect with just a few people to do the brain storming that I talk about. I reference 'community' not just because my show has that word in it, but because I truly believe connecting to a like minded group of people will enrich your life and theirs. I just spent the day with a lovely young lady that recently moved here from Chicago. And I remember how I felt when I moved here from Williamsburg, VA even though my kids had been transferred here first.  So I have been introducing her and sharing all that I know about this new home of hers.  Can you help someone new in your world?  Share YOU. I've got to tell you, this is a loaded subject for me!  Just a couple questions.  How often are you looking down at your phone?  How many people do you hear when you are focused with your head down?  Do your neck and shoulders get achy by the end of the day? So what happens if all these apply?  You miss out, BIG time, if you're not looking up.  You're like yeah, right, Gail, big whup!  Well, from my perspective it is. Especially when I watch parents of little precious children totally ignore their kids on the play ground.  They'll yelling, look at me, push me, play with me, and yet, there they are on an impersonal machine. I can rant a long time on this subject.  The drivers that think that a one minute glance on their phone to check a very insignificant message is more important than their life or someone else's...yeah I could rant a very long time on this. But most importantly, I want to share a few recent observations of mine.  For example, Saturday, I was attending an event of a friend's and manned her booth for a time.  While I was there and talking to people I noticed a table across from us - because I looked up!!!  I was not looking at that little impersonal screen.  And I discovered a new gem right here in my backyard.  A new women's organization that I truly connected with!  And 3 days later they requested I be their keynote speaker at their up and coming event!  Now that may not be a big win for you, but it was a 'knock your socks off' kind of thing for me! So in this episode I want to encourage you to engage in conversation that does not revolve around your phone or iPad or any kind of device, but your mouth and your ears.  Try it, I do believe you'll like it more than you know. And as I pass on a smile I want to SPOTLIGHT my friend and her wonderful mission.  Please share it. You can put smiles on many faces if you embrace this and tell others about it, too.  And thank you. Well, listen to my most recent tale and you will understand where I'm coming from...because I did a terrible injustice to myself and you, my loyal listeners. Thank you for jumping back in to listen, it's been quite a while!  The crud got me, but I lowered my resistance by not being aware enough of what I was doing to myself. Sounds crazy I know, but when you're hit with a virus and your voice disappears - not fun for a podcst talk show host - or anyone!  But it's hard to do justice to any spoken word when you have 2 big fat bull frogs taking up residence in your throat!! But it does give you time to reflect on what is going on.  And I figured out where I had created my own stress. And I encourage you to take stock of what you find yourself doing.  Are you self-sabotaging yourself by the simple choice you've made? We usually think it is a more deliberate act when we do something to sabotage ourselves, but nope, I found out differently. Thank you so much for listening.  You truly are One Awesome Community. This is the audio version of my recent LIVE FB post that I promised to send via mp3 file for your chosen format.  You can definitely hear the transition from my headphones to the webcam recording.  Working on blending it better... Do you dread de-cluttering?  I seem to get on a tangent and start without meaning to.  Once in awhile I'll put it on my 'To-Do' list which I really call, 'My On-Going' list, but that's when I have my daughter involved.  She is a Professional Organizer.  What I've found in this practice, with or without her present, is that while sorting, discarding and 'Goodwilling'  I find long lost treasures I had forgotten about. That quote that moved me.  The precious memory preserved in a picture.  The link to a cooking website - now that's funny, 'cause I don't like to cook.  However, I love to eat, so if it's easy I will make the attempt, thus the link. But I think you've got the picture.  You find unexpected gifts within the piles you've unintentionally created.  Now maybe you did it on purpose, but I find stuff gets away from me. But I've been told I was the most organized sales rep in the advertising world, but then how can you not be if you need to follow up, etc.  I had to be, then.   However, I'm not so organized now as I do my own biz, so piles accumulate and my energy is diffused.  So this is just my perspective on how important de-cluttering is to our life. I'd love to hear from you on what your tricks are to keep you out from under excess accumulation :-)  And please share this - someone might need to hear what I found out.  And thank you so much for listening! I know, you're probably smiling, thinking, yeah no kidding, Sherlock, that's the name of your show :-) And yes, that is exactly why I named it this because without community, we suffer, whether you believe that or not!  People thrive, in my perspective, when you have a support group, a community of people that you can connect with. And in this day and age, you may be thinking that's Social Media talk, but it's all kinds of connecting.  I network constantly and very consistently in our town, and not as often enough on Social Media.  But that is a promise I've made to myself and you - but you have to listen to hear more on that. It took me much longer today to produce this as I've transitioned to Windows 10 and a whole new computer!  So I'm working to get the hang of the new stuff, but wow, everything looks different on here after being with Windows 7 for 10 years!!! I hope you'll listen in to get a sneak peak of who will be part of my community of guests this year.  Starting off my "Leap of Faith" interview series will be my awesome friend, mentor, and show contributor, Cynthia Bazin.  She wasn't always a Laser Focused Mentor!  You'll be inspired by her story! And then someone local to me that went from selling jewelry to designing her own.  A young man that had a very terrible and frightening health challenge and what he is doing with his life! And in between I will continue to share my life lessons and dedicate my time and energy to building a community on my FaceBook Page where the Live Video interviews will be.  So please go to my page and like it to keep updated if you would rather watch than just listen to the show. I will continue to provide the audio on here as well! In the meantime, my awesome community, let's rock 2019 together! And  I'd love to hear how you feel about community! Passing On A Smile, Gail

Okay, my friends this is a wild and crazy episode.  I actually combine the audio from my FB Live with my regular audio...and here's why :-) Come mid-January I will be doing an online TV show on my FaceBook page.  And then I will upload that audio into my original podcast production.  That way, people that still want to just listen, can :-) So I share that on the show, too!  This title comes from what is going on for me right now.  I just had cataract surgery in my right eye.  Instructions of restrictions for a week were:  No vigorous exercise, no eye make up, no rubbing or putting pressure on the eye, no lifting over 20 pounds, no dust, water or dirt in the eye and NO BENDING from the waist putting the head past my knees!!! Well, I gotta tell you, it was one of the first things I tried to do when I got home from surgery!  I didn't know.  They told me while I was still feeling the affects of the anesthesia so I had no clue!  But my daughter caught me before I was in a full bend mode! Interesting side affect of not being allowed to bend!  You have to squat!  Well, guess what?!  The day after squatting all day - cause you don't realize how often you bend - I felt like I had exercised my legs vigorously!  I was exercising muscles I evidently NEVER use!  That was quite a rude awakening. So I challenge you to not bend when you usually instinctively do :-)  Just do it for a day and let me know how easy or hard it was for you.  And if your legs hurt the next day.  My husband reminded me that's an exercise we did the first day of our Pickelball class!  I remembered that and also the fact that I hurt like crazy! Hope you get a chuckle out of this show and share it.  You never know who needs to do squats!! Passing On A Smile, Gail

Really.  Think about it!  We don't realize how often we have to transition from one task or experience after another.  A lot of us marketing on FB or Instagram, Twitter, etc. talk about the changes in algorithms that affect our reach.  But, I came to realize that daily life's activity is just one transition upon transition. So on today's show I talk about these moments and how I deal with them.  Big, little, good, bad, ugly, you name it.  We all, I believe, deal with a lot every day. I hope you enjoy and will find this gives you a different perspective on how your day may unfold.  I would love to hear your comments and would always appreciate you sharing.  Someone may not be dealing well and my way of thinking may help them. Don't get me wrong, challenges are awesome and when done right can be very productive towards your goals.  However, if you cannot completely engage consistently and in the manner the challenge is set out - do yourself and your team a favor - don't do it! I really wished I had waited and joined the next challenge, but I will complete this one and move on instead.  It has taught me a ton about sooooo many things. Today's show is about things that I've had eating at me and I also ask you, what's eating YOU?  Because we all seem to have something that just isn't settled or keeps coming back. Fortunately for me, at this moment, my challenges are not too worrisome, but it's never good to let even little things simmer.  I found that out years ago when I would hold onto things way too long and they exploded out of proportion!!!  Not any more, (most of the time) I find a way to deal with the nasty stuff! I encourage you to take whatever steps you must take to live your passion, find your purpose.  There is no other feeling like it.  It's not a race to the top of the mountain of money.  It's a steadfast conviction that you have solutions that will help people THRIVE in their life!  Life is too short to struggle through pain and agony.  I've had a friend commit suicide.  I have a person very dear to me that suffers anxiety and is a stress junkie.  Another friend has been unable to fully digest her food in months.  But now I come and share with them solutions to change all that :-) The 700 Club long running Christian TV show has done a 4-Part Series on the very revolutionary discovery that our company's science is all about in producing these products.  What an extraordinary 3rd party endorsement! Then I tried putting the word, 'Reflection' in the title, but that wasn't right either. Last one before the one I ended up with was, 'What's Nudging Your Future?'  But not quite sure what picture would depict this thought pattern. Are you always saying, 'when I get this, when I achieve this, when I meet someone', etc.?  If you are, then I believe that's what's called a 'holding pattern'. When you're in a holding pattern in a plane it can feel pretty scary to be suspended up in the air.  Well, if you do that on the ground, waiting for something to come along, can be just as scary. Because your life is passing you by. I share some of my current temporary holding patterns today, and I want to encourage you to look at your own holding patterns.  What is it you're waiting for?  Can you do something else while you're waiting?  Because sometimes what you want never comes.  And then what kind of regrets might you have? I believe we might want to embrace what we have right in front of us while we're working towards what we feel is waiting for us.  I've been there.  Waiting for the right time to change jobs.  Waiting for the right time to end that bad relationship.  My list is long.  But I've learned, over time,  to focus on what I can do until I take those steps.   Have you noticed that when you're waiting for that when, and it does happen, it doesn't release you from the waiting game?  It just changes. So take a deep breath and examine what you're really waiting for.  Why are you floating in this self-proclaimed 'holding pattern'?  What if what you're waiting for never happens what have you missed while waiting. I know too many people that life passed by because they were holding onto 'when this happens' never came.    Have an awesome day - celebrate with passing on a smile to someone - make their day!  Then notice 'when' you do how it makes you feel :-) Sending you my smile, Gail

I guess professionals know where to go and how to do it.  Thankfully, the charge was not approved and they were cut off fast on one card.  Not so much on the other.  I was actually getting a fraud alert at the time I was dialing my phone! Talk about shaking up my life.  I am always very careful with my belongings.  I don't lose my keys nor my wallet, and definitely never had this happen.  But life happens and I am certainly grateful this is all that happened, because it is not the worst life can deliver. Here is the calendar link you'll hear me talk about - National Day Calendar The title of today's show came about with a series of things that happened to me.  Not coincidences, but happenings that made me scratch my head. Basically, the life lesson is to always keep on keepin' on.  Remember when you first start your business or new venture.  We all want immediate success and we launch with passion and determination.  We write our mission statement, we tell the world how we're going to make a difference and then nada. Nothing happens as fast as we planned.  And our enthusiasm begins to fizzle and fade away.  And sometimes so discouraged, we give up and turn to something new we can once again get excited over. I know - I've been there many times.  My daughter says I get bored easily.  Very true, but I'm very grateful I have stayed with Send Out Cards  for 12 years.  It's so fun to be able to say yes when someone says are you still doing Send Out Cards!  Oh yeah, I'm still the Hey Card Lady :-) And I've been doing this podcast for 3+ years.  So when I talk about You Just Never Know...someone suddenly needs your services, you'll be there.  But only if you stay the course.  Tough I know, especially in network marketing, but changing constantly costs you momentum!  And it's hard to reconstruct that once it's stopped. This subject came to me today because of many conversations over the past couple days.  And today the speaker at our Women's luncheon asked how do you deal with 'those' people at work? So it got me to thinking how some people in our lives love to 'nudge' us with sarcasm, criticism, and often just plain meanness!  How do we deal with them??? Crazy, behavior that drives us crazy, right?  I guess I agree that the best way is to have an open conversation before it builds out of proportion.  I used to literally chew on things for months and they would grow and get nastier in my mind, over time. Once I learned that was most destructive on my part and adversely affected those in my life, I grew up and grew out of that behavior.  Now, don't get me wrong, I am not fond of confrontation, but being able to clarify helps keep that at bay.  At least for me it does. So our luncheon speaker addressed that fellow worker who got miffed and started a bit of a rumor over something.  How to stop this, she suggested, is to find out why this person was miffed and control what turned out to be a misunderstanding. 'Cause I think we've all hurt someone's feelings without meaning to and don't even know it.  I know people with a cutting, teasing type of sense of humor that hurts my feelings and they don't mean to.  But it's not my kind of humor so I take it wrong.  Until I toughen my skin and remind myself, that's them, not me. So I invite you to visit HeyCardLady.com and maybe send that person a heartfelt card sharing with them how they make you feel.  Easier to do sometimes then person to person.  But don't let it stew like I have.  Life is way tooooooo short :-) Thank you for listening, and the card is a gift from me, costs you nothing, but can gain you so much :-) Passing On A Smile, Gail

Does this ever cross your mind when you cannot remember something or you do something really out of the ordinary?  Like weirder than usual for me? So that's what I talk about on my show today.  Here's a description of 'brain fog' thanks to one of my favorite experts.  Dr. Axe  Brain fog symptoms usually include:  -low energy or fatigue (including chronic fatigue syndrome) -irritability. trouble concentrating. headaches. -forgetfulness and trouble remembering information. -low motivation, feeling hopeless or mildly depressed. -anxiety. confusion.  Lots of symptoms for 'Brain Fog' and when I researched 'Busy Brain' there are a lot of studies on that, too. In the 'busy brain' sector it's all about keeping our brains active to keep them from deteriorating.  But I also believe that we have so much going on in our brains it can also lead to a lot of confusion and distraction.  And, of course, I speak only from my experience. I know that our memories do not age, they just get overloaded with all the memories stored.  The older we are, the more stuff is stuffed in there.  And to get answers to questions, sometimes it takes a few minutes to go through those files. And then there's the time when out of nowhere a weird memory just resurfaces from a bazillion years ago!  What's with that!!! So I talk about practicing meditation and I'm sure Yoga is powerful.  Anything that might slow the processes down to a calmer mode and a time to rejuvenate our brains!  We work on our bodies, but it's the brain that drives it all!  Which tells me we need to give it our utmost fitness attention as well. Thanks for listening, I so appreciate you!  More than words can say :-) Passing On A Smile, Gail

OAC 301 The Magical Power of Words!

I am so grateful, my awesome friend, Lisa Bechtol posted the Episode image and these words.  This post inspired this podcast episode!  Thank you, Lisa :-) #SpeakKindness "Words are, in my not-so-humble opinion, our most inexhaustible source of magic. Capable of both inflicting injury, and remedying it." -- JK Rowling #WeChoose #LookInTheMirror #icare #CareWarrior#Believe I've spoken about the "Power of a Thank You" card, because that's the business I'm in.  I'm an "Appreciation Consultant" educating and helping people with Relationship Marketing...but most vital to this show is to reflect how magical words truly are. This can be awesome magic, or black magic.  Depending on who is saying what and the words that are spoken. Bullying has become an absolutely horrendous destructive behavior in our society.  From day care to senior care - age does not discriminate on people being nasty to someone, just because they choose to be. I was bullied in school and my mother always said, remember: "Sticks and stones will break your bones, but words will never hurt you." Isn't that way too scary to tell that to your kid?  But when I was growing up that was what was supposed to make me feel better, I guess. Well, I've learned and I'm sure you have to, that bones will heal, but that verbal abuse can dig in and linger in our hearts forever. There have been young suicides due to online bullying.  People literally ganging up in their hatred because someone did not meet their standards.  Beyond terrifying. But let's focus on the magic of awesome words. Magic happens when you encourage your child, friend or spouse, or anyone you know in the pursuit of their dreams or achievements.  What an incredible thing to be able to tell someone - "That was so awesome!  You're awesome.  I am so proud of you!  I know you'll make your dream come true.  You knocked it out of park..."  So forth and so on! So think about it today, whether you're doing self-talk (boy can we destroy ourselves with that) or talking to a colleague or a loved one.  You pumping them up or dumping them down???  How have words spoken to you today felt, black magic or AWESOME encouraging magical magic? I could go on and on on this subject, but I'll save some for another day!  Thanks for being an awesome listener!  I appreciate you soooo much! Passing On A Smile, Gail

    OAC 300 Are YOU Invigorated???

Wow, wow, wow!!! I can't believe this is Episode 300 of One Awesome Community!  Thank you for your ongoing listening!  If not for you, there would be no Episode 300 :-) I hope you are feeling the energy of starting a new year brings!  It's time to reflect and make some real decisions around your dreams and goals. I started my Podcast to bring awareness to my passion of Send Out Cards.  I've been a marketing representative and now an Appreciation Consultant with them for 12 years.  However, I've somehow missed the mark on that... So I began thinking what else I could do, maybe an Online TV show? So I started my research.  Picked out the website program, the best video system, outlined the sponsorship package, etc.  And was very 'invigorated' at the thought of a new project. Thankfully, a couple of  simple events re-directed my attention. And what transpired from those events will be revealed when you listen to today's show!  I can't divulge it all in the notes, why would you ever listen??? However, I will share with you here a quote that I share with you on the show.   "When you put together deep knowledge about a subject that intensely matters to you, charisma happens.  You gain courage to share your passion, and when you do that, folks follow." --Jerry Porras I talk about this quote in terms of the title.  Being invigorated and why I am sooooo excited. Part of that is that a lot of people start podcasts, but don't stick with it.  I feel really good about still being passionate when I put on my headphones and start talking into my mic! My plans for 2018 are to bring you more ways to hear my podcast and the platform where you can listen will be an awesome change...like I said, I AM INVIGORATED!!!!  ARE YOU???  Passing On A Smile, Gail

    OAC 299 Gratitude Rules!

Sorry, I've been off creating Christmas Cards and helping my customers do the same.  This is my 12th Christmas sharing how easy Send Out Cards makes it to send our seasonal cards - for every season!  But it's a recent Weight Watchers brochure that actually gave me the title to today's show!  This is a regular subject for me and I don't believe it can ever be re-visited too often.  Because life circles around and sometimes we forget. Yet, I've learned that focusing on gratitude definitely is the best way for me to rule my life.  And I express that every night in a 'gratitude journal'.  Nothing fancy, just a notebook, with lines :-)  and a pen and my thoughts of what I am grateful for that day. I believe, at least for me, when I reflect on who and what I am grateful for I can't focus on the negative crap that might be circulating in my life, directly or indirectly. I have a tough time listening to or watching the news.  It is rarely uplifting and invigorating.  So by choosing my own path of gratitude I can block out what I cannot control. I invite you to take a moment and reflect on someone you haven't shown your gratitude towards lately.  Maybe it's that spouse who supports you every day, but somehow you overlook saying how grateful you are that they are by your side. We all tend to take for granted what we have, it's just human nature.  We go about our lives and do our thing and never stop and reflect until something changes our status quo.  Don't let that happen to you... Some of what I say here I wished I'd said on the show, but it comes out as it needs to be said, but I 'hear' more sometimes when I write it out. In my interview with Engel Jones  of Twelve Minute Conversations Podcast  he asked me what was one habit I've maintained over the years and it was 'posting nightly in my Gratitude Journal'. And in closing I just want to let you know how grateful I am, to you, for listening!  And a have a very Merry Christmas.   (In case, I don't get on here next week!) Passing on Christmas Cheer, Gail

I have been posting and sharing this issue for several days after I found several posts on LinkedIn. However, I was greatly disturbed when I saw absolutely no mention on FaceBook about what may happen to our businesses and social connection if we do NOT stop this from happening! To learn more faster and to take action quicker here is an awesome link that helped me reach out and protest to our Congressmen and Senators, Speaker of the House, etc.  Battle For The Net And here is another site with a link to the petition on the official White House website!  There is another petition as well!  I'm signing all of them! 6 Ways You Can Protest This is a very serious show about a very destructive action about to take place if we don't stand up and fight this.  I want to keep telling my stories on my podcast, I want to do videos on YouTube, I want to buy from you, your products, your services, but I just have one voice to help protect our rights!  Let's join hands and do this because together we can do this!!!!   We had to fight to keep the net neutrality in place before and it's time to fight the fight again!!!  If you're thinking you don't have time to do this, well, if you are conducting business on line you might want to re-think that.  'Cause if we don't stop this you may not have a business online.  That's just how serious this really is. I read and re-read all about this before I jumped on this band wagon and took up the charge because I wanted to make sure I shared things with you as they are, not just a half-baked perspective of mine.  And the more I read the more disturbing this is!  Please take the time to listen, to embrace this battle with those of us already speaking out.  We have a VOICE and we need to ROAR!!!!  Now, today! Please share this so more people can join in protecting our internet. Passing on my concerns, Gail

OAC 297 With A Song In Your Heart!

I start off by talking about a song in 'My' heart, but this is really about all of us finding that song in our hearts. It doesn't have to be a vocal song, it may come in another form that makes your heart sing.  Do you tune into your body's vibrations?  Do you listen as your heart feels heavy vs feeling full of joy? I know, a lot of skeptics are saying - "Really, Gail, a heart is an organ, plain and simple."  I have read too many stories not to know how emotions physically affect our heart.  And I know when mine is singing to me. So my show today is basically to encourage you to continuously know your heart will guide you to your purpose, expose you to your passion. This subject came to be as I've been watching the playoffs on the TV Show "VOICE".  It never ceases to amaze me how much talent is out there and I love seeing people experience this awesome dream they have! We don't all want that, but I believe most of us want to feel that song in our heart.  Whether it comes from being a parent, a teacher, an actor, an athlete, a great leader...So many roles that that song in your heart can take on. As you live your life, I encourage you to not be so much in your head trying to analyze what you should be doing, but maybe let your heart speak to you.  Listen to the lilt in your voice, feel the sparkle in your eye, your energy lift when things are right with what you are doing...the heart truly knows and these are the signals. I know when my energy is a little low that I am concerned about doing a show.  Because I want to give you my all.  And then I get a silly smirk on my face and know that the minute I put my headset on the energy is there and I am ready to rock n roll!  Because my heart is sooo happy when I am telling a story or sharing my rants with you! So thank you for putting a song in my heart and have an absolutely AWESOME Thanksgiving. Passing On A Smile, Gail
