Three women who've spent years inside the PCOS conversation — one as a clinician, one as a hormone tracking specialist, one as a board-certified OBGYN and culinary medicine physician — and they still said, out loud, that nobody has all the answers. That alone makes this episode worth your time.Today Dr. Susan Fox is joined by Rose McKenzie, clinical manager at Mira, and Dr. Basma Faris, founder of her namesake practice and creator of the Adopt a Mediterranean Diet for PCOS course, for a conversation about what it actually looks like to track, understand, and act on your own hormonal and metabolic data — especially when you have PCOS.Mira is a medical-grade at-home hormone monitor tracking four hormones using fluorescent technology. A CGM — continuous glucose monitor — shows you in real time how your blood sugar responds to food, stress, sleep, and where you are in your cycle. Together, these tools are changing what it means for a woman with PCOS to know her own body. You'll learn why PCOS is a metabolic disorder on a spectrum — and why where you are on that spectrum is not where you have to staywhat a 2023 University of Toronto study revealed about how glucose levels shift between the follicular and luteal phases — and what that means if you have insulin resistancewhy 70% of people with PCOS have insulin resistance — and why the other 30% matters just as muchhow high insulin drives testosterone production, how testosterone impairs insulin sensitivity, and why breaking that cycle requires interrupting it at multiple points simultaneouslywhat Mira hormone data actually looks like in a postpartum breastfeeding woman with PCOS — and why this population is almost always missedwhy elevated fasting glucose and elevated post-meal glucose are two different problems pointing to two different root causeshow long to use a CGM before you've learned what you need to know, and what "glucorexia" is — and why more data isn't always better. This episode is for you if you have PCOS and feel like every protocol you've tried was designed for someone else;, you're postpartum and nobody has looked closely at your hormones; you're tired of being told what to eat without being monitored when you follow the rules; you want to understand the insulin-testosterone feedback loop in plain language; you're a provider curious about integrating hormone and metabolic
In today's episode of Health Youniversity, Dr. Susan Fox sits down with Dr. Katie Worrilow — founder and Chief Scientific Officer of Life Air Systems, postdoctoral-trained reproductive physiologist, and former scientific director of IVF programs for over 20 years — for a conversation that will change how you think about your IVF cycle.Dr. Katie spent twenty years noticing something. That when construction began outside the hospital, when the medevac pad got repaved, when the parking lot was resurfaced — clinical pregnancy rates dropped. Not because of the medicine. Not because of the protocol. Because of the air surrounding the embryo during the most critical six to seven days of its existence outside the body. That realization became Life Air Systems — a patented air purification technology now installed in 41% of US IVF programs, awarded 23 patents, over 60 registered trademarks globally, and the 2025 Edison Award for innovation in healthcare. The data from clinical studies across several thousand patients showed a nearly 20 percentage point increase in clinical outcomes with complete air quality control. Across the full installation base worldwide, the average increase in clinical pregnancy rates is 14.9 percentage points — with corresponding improvements in implantation rates and blast conversion rates. You'll learn why the air surrounding a human embryo during culture matters. Why the environment, and chemical pathogens like toluene from warm asphalt do to embryo development — and why you won't see the damage at day 3, only at day 5. Blastocyst conversion rates and implantation rates are the metrics that tell the real story — air quality has to do with both. And you'll learn what questions to ask your IVF clinic before your next retrieval or transfer about air quality at the transfer stage, why the same variable that improves outcomes also reduces the likelihood of needing multiple retrieval cycles — and what that means financially and emotionally. And you'll understand why Dr. Susan is calling out fertility insurance providers and employee benefits managers in this episode directly. This episode is for you if you're preparing for an IVF cycle and want to do everything possible to optimize your outcome, you've had a beautiful day 3 embryo report followed by a devastating day 5, you've been through one or more failed cycles and are trying to figure out what to do differently before the next one, you want
If you've been working all day, running around, or living a little too much in your head, this short guided meditation is designed to help you shift out of "doing" mode and back into being. In this visualization, I guide you into a peaceful nighttime beach setting where you encounter a radiant goddess figure who bathes you in what I call the nectar of compassion — a symbol of the feminine qualities many of us forget to give ourselves: softness, warmth, receptivity, and care. You can practice this meditation lying down and return to it anytime you need to release stress, reconnect with your body, and transition into a calmer, more intuitive state. In this meditation, we explore:
In today's episode of Health Youniversity, Dr. Susan Fox sits down with Zsofia Jamieson and Marta Han — co-founders of The Fertility Class and certified teachers of the Aviva Method — for a conversation about something most fertility conversations completely skip: movement.Zsofia was diagnosed with severe PCOS as a teenager and told she might never conceive. She healed naturally through movement and nutrition, eventually bringing the Aviva Method from Hungary to the UK and the US. Marta navigated hypothalamic amenorrhea and years of infertility tied to over-exercising and undernourishment, yet restored her cycle through holistic practice. A decade after meeting in a London playground, they built The Fertility Class — a cycle-synced, pelvic-centered movement platform now reaching women worldwide. This episode is about what rhythmic pelvic movement actually does to the reproductive system — and why it's one of the most underused tools in the fertility conversation. Blood flow. Hormonal axis regulation. Reflexology point stimulation. Nervous system support. Emotional release. All from 30 minutes of movement, three times a week. You'll learn what the Aviva Method is — a therapeutic movement practice developed by a Hungarian physiotherapist and ballet dancer in the 1960s with over 25 years of research behind it, why pelvic-centered movement is categorically different from yoga, kegels, or cycle-synced exercise — and what it actually does to the follicular environment, how rhythmic contraction and release of the lower belly muscles increases blood flow to the uterus, fallopian tubes, and ovaries, why the hypothalamic-pituitary-ovarian axis responds to specific movement and reflexology point stimulation, why sitting 8 to 10 hours a day is quietly affecting your fertility markers. And why the fertility class also has a men's program — (because male factor accounting for 40% of infertility). This episode is for you if you've been doing "all the right things" fertility-wise but haven't addressed how you're moving — or not moving, if you have PCOS, irregular cycles, painful periods, or hypothalamic amenorrhea and want to understand what movement can do, if you're heading into IVF and want to improve your markers and your outcomes before your first appointment, and if you're ready to start relating to your body as something worth moving for.

Welcome back to our weekend Cabral HouseCall shows! This is where we answer our community's wellness, weight loss, and anti-aging questions to help people get back on track! Check out today's questions: S: What's the deal with smoothies? Why are they recommended so much? Not just by Equilife but from a lot of other wellness practitioners. In general I find they don't satiate me for long and could end up causing me to overeat in the long run. But more than that, I developed a different issue. I found Equilife, as it seems many have, when experiencing gut issues (probably post infectious IBS) and looking for answers. My issues kept coming and going. Then I started to realize it was aggravated during detoxes. (This all evolved over a year and a half.) I finally discussed with AI. In a nutshell, AI suggested I eat warm foods only, cooked veggies. Eat foods in a particular order. This wasn't high risk so I tried this advice. It helped so much. So now I wonder, is it really best to recommend smoothies for everyone? Especially when the detox with shakes or smoothies are recommended as a starting point before other protocols? Seems like if smoothies were to be recommended, it might be better post gut healing? (I now remember a Chinese medicine practitioner telling me years ago that warm food is better for a sensitive gut. I had forgotten that temporarily.) Btw - it's all cold or raw food that can be too much for me right now. Not just shakes or smoothies but I also tested these things alone, outside of the detox. I just see smoothies recommended as nutrition for all kinds of reasons and to people with all kinds of gut issues and don't really hear anyone discuss when it is not good for some of us. Now I just need to figure out how long to heal before I can add back cold food and raw veggies at times. I miss my carrot sticks but glad my gut is happier. So why are smoothies such a thing in the wellness community? Katie: Thank you for everything you have done and taught me. I had a Prenuvo scan done (thank you for the code) and found that I have a small pineal gland cyst, multiple kidney cysts, a syrinx in my spinal cord and a cyst on my cervix. I lived a very unhealthy first 33 years, but have been living clean the last 3. Big 5 showed bacterial overgrowth, mold, candida, heavy metals, mitochondrial dysfunction, high manganese, high bedtime cortisol, and low T3. Hormones and omegas were optimal. What is the root cause of cyst formation? Besides going through protocols and proteolytic enzymes is there anything else I should do? Of course, not looking for diagnosis or treatment plan. Liz: Hi Dr. Cabral, I am a 36 year old female with no history of health problems before the last 2 years. On June 26, 2024 I underwent an XILF lumbar fusion surgery to fuse my L4/L5 because of chronic back pain. I soon found that this was the biggest mistake of my life. I haven't been the same since. I have been experiencing unrelenting, chronic nausea and abdominal discomfort on a daily basis. I also experience brain fog and chronic fatigue. As such, my performance at work has significantly decreased, my mood has been at an all time low, some days I can't even get out of bed. I wish I never had the surgery, had I known my quality of life would have plummeted so drastically. I've gone to countless specialists (a gastroenterologist, endocrinologist, rheumatologist, an ENT, neurologist, OBGYN, Accupuncture, even tried Reiki, and every test result shows unremarkable/normal results. I recently went to pain management and they gave me an epidural after seeing significant scar tissue around the surgical site. I am not experiencing any relief. In fact, I think I feel worse. I am getting married in May and want to start a family but have not been able to get myself right since my surgery. I'm scared I'll never be able to find relief. I don't know where else to turn or what else to do. I just want to get back to normal again and enjoy my life. If there's anything you can think of that I can try, I'll do it. I'm at my wits end. Please help me. Rebecka: Hi Dr. Cabral. I have recently been diagnosed with Anemia. I have not been told the specific type of Anemia. I feel terrible 24/7. My symptoms include fatigue, weakness, dizziness, chest pain and shortness of breath. I feel this is an off and on chronic problem as I have realized I've been having these symptoms for years. My RBC are low, my retic is low and low lymphocytes. Mcv and mch values were high on my CBC. Vitamin b12 and folate normal and my TSH was what I considered low normal. I also experienced a hot flash after lunch every day. I am very petite at 5ft 1 and 95-100lbs and I am 43 years old. What tests should I be doing to figure out the root cause of my anemia? I know hormones and stress can play a role as well. I live a very stressful lifestyle working full time with 2 young daughters. On top of all this, I had an ultrasound of my abdomen in December. It showed biliary sludge and a 2cm hemangioma on my liver. Are there and herbs to dissolve the sludge before it causes any more pain or complications? I would just like to feel "good" again and live a somewhat normal life. Please help me. Renee: Hi Dr Cabral, Firstly thank you for your dedication to helping people globally find answers to their health challenges. I am an IHP lv 2 and would greatly appreciate any advice on a client with CIDP (MADSAM syndrome) — Chronic Inflammatory Demyelinating Polyradiculoneuropathy. A 62 yr old male, fit, dealing with symptoms for 2 yrs, legs are weak and seem to be getting weaker, continues to experience widespread fasciculations (nerve twitching), which are now also affects his hands. His neurologist has recommenced treatment with IVIG (Intravenous immunoglobulin) to address what body is doing to the nerves. I will be having him on the DESTRESS protocol and highly recommending the Big 5 to get to the root cause. Your thoughts on using IVIG along with removing toxicities and replacing deficiencies would be extremely appreciated as I am very keen to help him reverse this and get his life back. Welcome back to our weekend Cabral HouseCall shows! This is where we answer our community's wellness, weight loss, and anti-aging questions to help people get back on track! Check out today's questions: Sheena: Hi Dr C! Hope you and your team are well. I've been hearing a lot about colostrum lately and it piqued my interest. Can you speak a little about it? Do you use it? Is there a brand you would recommend? Is it safe for anyone? Who should avoid it? Side effects? I take a probiotic everyday, can colostrum replace this?? Looking forward to hearing your response. Thanks in advance! Frankie: Hi Stephen, My name is Frankie Im 21 years old, and I wanted to follow up from Episode 3382, where you mentioned my symptoms could be connected to gut issues, low vitamin D, magnesium, metals, or GERD. Since then, I followed a strict LPR diet for about two months no gluten, coffee, alcohol, peanuts, oats, onions, garlic, broccoli, beans, etc. My LPR symptoms improved by around 70%, and while I still have some mucus in my throat, its nowhere near as potent as before. During and after the protocol, I focused on rebuilding my gut with some gut-rebuilding supplements and slowly reintroducing foods. Its now been about three months since finishing the protocol, and Ive gained around 14 pounds. I also still deal with loose stool almost every day, which hasnt improved much. It’s honestly shocked me because Im very dialed in with both my food and workouts, yet the weight gain and digestive changes still happened. I wanted to get your thoughts on what direction to take from here. I havent run the Big 5 protocol since Im based in Canada, and it would end up costing quite a bit more with shipping and exchange rates. Also, I just wanted to mention its surprising how many young people my age are struggling with digestive and gut related issues. Its becoming way too common. Thanks again for all the work you do, and I hope you have a great day I listen to you every morning. Frankie Gary: Hi Dr. Cabral. Im 49, male & over the last 4 years taken a deep interest in my health. I had cerebral malaria (2003) & as a result developed essential tremor both hands. Listened to 2 podcasts & working on noticeable triggers like ltd caffeine & alcohol. It hasnt got worse, but really is there any way to reverse it? Neurologist says surgery has no guarantee. I would value the truth & if it were your wife what you would do please. So much life ahead 🙠(PS. Partner is an IHP so DESTRESS at the heart of our approach) we want to do EVERYTHING we can. Thank you Sienna: Hi Dr. Cabral - so excited about your new Pea Protein, got great feedback from the support team, however would love your response. Pea Protein safe for kids? Since DNS is I would approach it in same way, Dr. AI says generally kids get enough from food so not recommended… Do you give this to your daughters in same way you have it? Ie a little more protein in smoothies *daily* or just in baked goods like pancakes occasionally. Thank you! Welcome back to our weekend Cabral HouseCall shows! This is where we answer our community's wellness, weight loss, and anti-aging questions to help people get back on track! Check out today's questions: Lara: Hi, dr. Cabral! Hope you and your family are well.. I'm wondering about some ingredients in supplements, how to know which are ok? Have you maybe done a podcast about it ? It would be great to have a check list when it comes to supplements, please.. For example, gellan gum? You've said xanthan gum is not ok, guar is ok, what about the others? And I am wondering about other ingredients as well, fillers and additives.. which are ok and which are not Thank you so much! Happy healing to everyone! Rachel: Love your podcast thank you for all you do and hope to become an IHP one day! Anyway, this question is about my Dad. I have been doing some research, but would love your advice. He is 66 years old with diabetes and takes metformin. He has recently developed the early onset of neuropathy in his foot. What can he do to help slow the progression or even reserve the neuropathy? Supplement suggestions or diet advice? Thanks so much! Sarah: Hi Dr. Cabral! Will you please suggest an all natural method to get rid of flat warts I have all over my legs? I did run the big five labs and I've been working on all the imbalances for six months now, but the flat warts have not budged. Thank you so much for all you do! Tony: Hello Dr. Cabral, Suffered some early trauma and have had chronic stress most of my life. Never ate vegetables and fruits growing up. Now, @34 I have sibo, dysbiosis, leaky gut and nervous system dysregulation. Working on them with the DESTRESS protocol, and therapy. Wondering how to introduce new foods. I'm not kidding when I say I've been on a restricted diet my whole life and new foods cause immune flares and can tank me for a few days. I'm sure like the graduated exercise program in IHP, it's about introducing them slowly and letting the immune system adapt, but wondering if you had any tips on food expansion. Ran the big 5. Low potassium/sodium. DHEA of 3, some yeast and fungal markets elevated. Want to regulate nervous system and repair my gut over the next 12 months. Thanks! Kelsey: Hi Dr. Cabral! Hoping you can shed some light on this. After coming off hormonal birth control earlier this year, my cycle has been irregular and my PMS symptoms have become intense. I'm wondering how long it typically takes the endocrine system to rebalance? I'm also curious if supporting the liver or increasing certain micronutrients might help speed the process.
