I know, you're probably smiling, thinking, yeah no kidding, Sherlock, that's the name of your show :-) And yes, that is exactly why I named it this because without community, we suffer, whether you believe that or not! People thrive, in my perspective, when you have a support group, a community of people that you can connect with. And in this day and age, you may be thinking that's Social Media talk, but it's all kinds of connecting. I network constantly and very consistently in our town, and not as often enough on Social Media. But that is a promise I've made to myself and you - but you have to listen to hear more on that. It took me much longer today to produce this as I've transitioned to Windows 10 and a whole new computer! So I'm working to get the hang of the new stuff, but wow, everything looks different on here after being with Windows 7 for 10 years!!! I hope you'll listen in to get a sneak peak of who will be part of my community of guests this year. Starting off my "Leap of Faith" interview series will be my awesome friend, mentor, and show contributor, Cynthia Bazin. She wasn't always a Laser Focused Mentor! You'll be inspired by her story! And then someone local to me that went from selling jewelry to designing her own. A young man that had a very terrible and frightening health challenge and what he is doing with his life! And in between I will continue to share my life lessons and dedicate my time and energy to building a community on my FaceBook Page where the Live Video interviews will be. So please go to my page and like it to keep updated if you would rather watch than just listen to the show. I will continue to provide the audio on here as well! In the meantime, my awesome community, let's rock 2019 together! And I'd love to hear how you feel about community! Passing On A Smile, Gail

What is the greatest adversity you have faced? How did you get through it and what happened afterward? In this episode of the 10 Factor guest Marcus Aurelius Anderson takes us through his own personal adversity and comeback journey. Then we fast forward to today and how he speaks, writes, inspires and coaches others to overcome their own Adversities to actualize their personal definition of success. Marcus Aurelius Anderson is an author, Keynote Speaker, TEDx Speaker and executive Mindset Coach. While preparing to deploy with the U.S. Army, Marcus suffered a severe spinal injury that left him paralyzed. After dying on the operating table twice, the surgeons saved his life, but told him he'd never walk again. Having no other option, Marcus started doing some brutally honest soul searching, looking for the lesson to be learned from his injury. Once he started seeing his Adversity as a gift instead of a curse, something miraculous began to happen... Marcus now speaks, writes, inspires and coaches others to overcome their own Adversities to actualize their personal definition of success. His TEDx talk “The Gift of Adversity” tells of how we can use our Adversity to make us into better leaders, citizens and human beings. In this episode of The 10 Factor find out: How Marcus’s life changed on a dime. Why when you have no other choice the choice is simple. What happened when Marcus started seeing his adversity as a gift instead of a curse. How a primary purpose or objective can motivate you more than you ever thought possible. Why misery loves company but not as much as mediocrity. The thought process Marcus went through when he thought he was never going to walk again. About the tremendous power we all have but never touch on. How charging a client too little can be detrimental to both parties. Why adversity is relative and is different for each person. The reason most of us don’t need more time; we need a deadline. The value of being grateful not only for the good things but the bad things that happen too. I hope you'll get a chuckle out of this. I attempted to provide you with a video of me doing this show. However, when you visit the video you'll learn it did not happen quite as I expected... But, the message is still quite clear on my show that there are changes coming! If you've listened to me for awhile you'll know I talk about Cynthia Bazin of Smart Chic all the time. And I've been encouraging you to become a member of the Inner Circle. Well, as of today it is now known as the Laser Focused Tribe and is a mentoring membership program and so much more for everyone. I highly encourage you, if you've ever struggled with focus, accountability, or simply want connections, this is the place. Along with that change, Cynthia will once again co-host with me a few times a month, bringing back our 'tips' segments. I am also announcing some changes today. I started out as --> But because of expert input Cynthia and I both embarked on the niche market of "women entreprenuers". However, we've both determined our audiences are comprised of both men and women. And, Cynthia always on live streaming has encouraged me to get on with my videos. And I know that is key to growing audience. So that's why I reference a video. Lots to learn on that aspect. But not only do I want to provide you the option to listen, but to also watch if that's more your preference. And also, adding back an interview segment, via video/audio. I will be (plans are anyway) featuring these on TheGailFoleyShow.com - a page on my OneAwesomeCommunity.com, so you can go directly to the videos if you prefer. This first one, however, is only on YouTube with all those crazy recommendations - but here it is Oops. Short Version Stayed tuned as things amp up! And thank you for listening! Passing On A Smile, Gail
Our guest, Cynthia Bazin, is the president of SmartChic. She is a keynote speaker and premier mentor in Personal Development, Branding, and Business Strategy. We discuss challenging decisions and how they catapult your life, leadership and career.
Seriously, did you blink and suddenly summer has been replaced by fall? What the heck? I'm still planning summer activities! Guess I better add them to my 2018 calendar because I never got to them this year! I also talk about blinking when you place orders online. Are you paying attention to the details of the transaction? You'll want to listen in for this because it's too much to type out. Just be aware at every step of the way what you're clicking and paying for and where it's actually coming from. And then let's throw a little rant in there about Equifax just now telling us all about a major hack that occurred in March!!! HELLO!!! Maybe there isn't much we can do to protect ourselves, thank you so much for your lack of security, but we have a right to know sooner rather than later! Add yourself to CreditKarma.com So be careful. Don't blink! Watch out for those trial offers that take an act of Congress to cancel, but not before they charge you again and again! Don't blink when it comes to those online purchases, be very savvy in your research. And then for fun, Cynthia Bazin is putting together something new and I'll keep you posted on my amazing Laser Focus Mentor friend :-) Passing On A Smile, Gail

Are you out networking on a regular basis? You passing out your business cards and collecting a few, too? Well, that's why I ask this question. So many times I ask someone what they do and if they like it, etc. Lots of questions. And then I'll ask for their business card. Now to me, in true networking etiquette, it is then that person's turn to say "And What Do You Do?" But sadly, often times that question is never asked. They are simply there to get and not give. And what exactly does that mean? It's the person that simply is out to get the deal and collect tons of business card, but with no real interest in you. Their only interest is if you like their pitch and will do business with them. But I think you know be by now that building a relationship in business is an absolute first step. People do business with those they like, know and trust. Think about your own buying choices. Here's a great read I highly recommend if you want to grow your business. "The Go-Giver" by Bob Burg and John David Mann It will share with you how invaluable being a go- giver can enhance your life, both personally and professionally. It really paves the way to building wonderful relationships. I have many friends that have never been my customers, but I'm so grateful to have them in my life. Speaking of friends, Cynthia Bazin and I will be doing our BeLive Wednesday, September 13th at 2 PM PST, 4 PM CST and 5 PM EST. We'll be talking about Personal Development. I actually have a certificate saying I am qualified to be a Personal Development trainer - too cool! Thanks to T. Harv Eker. Have an awesome day and keep on keeping on! Passing On A Smile, Gail
We start off this episode with an awesome quote Cynthia Bazin shared with us. "Eventually everything connects - people, ideas, objects. The quality of the connections is the key to quality per se." - Charles Eames Here's a quick overview of what we talk about. But you know the routine :-) Best to listen in to get the full scope of our conversation. It was a lot of fun sharing our experiences that have changed our lives and would love to hear some of yours! 1. Evaluate where you are right now 2. Pay attention to people you meet and your experiences 3. Be willing to stretch beyond your comfort zone 4. Regularly help connect others And mark your calendar for our weekly BeLive - this week on Wednesday. Love to have your interaction!!! Please come with your questions and concerns. Let's help each other! Passing On A Smile, Gail
Cynthia shares this awesome quote, which bears posting on your wall somewhere! I believe :-) "The value of life is not in its duration, but in its donation. You are not important because of how long you live, you are important because of how effective you live." --Myles Munroe We dig into this subject with 4 quick tips - not much discussion, we'll continue with that on our BeLive tomorrow - Wednesday! Same time though 9 AM PST 11 AM CST Noon EST at www,smartchic.me/live So just a quick glimpse of the topics today - because it's really about you listening, not reading so much. Can't feel the feelings quite the same way, don't you know :-) 1. Schedule reflection time 2. Practice the pause 3. Pay attention 4. Do a daily inventory So please join in our fun tomorrow as we ask you to participate in this topic. Do you have goals still to achieve, do you want to make a commitment to do more in the next 152 days? This is free mentoring my friends. Come with your concerns and experiences! Please, and shout this out, too! We'd appreciate it soooo very much :-) Passing On A Smile, Gail
It seems to be a chronic condition in our hurry up and wait world that we are always waiting on something. The download, the table at a restaurant, check in at the airport. How do you handle that? But more importantly how do you take care of someone you have to make wait? I have to give a shout out to a local coffee shop Reverie Roasters that showed me the way to reward people for having to wait! I was meeting a friend there and ordered a cup of java. However, the flavor I had chosen was quite popular and the pot was drained. So the young man says I'll brew another pot and bring your cup to you. Well, that was great service right there and so I just continued having my conversation with my friend. But I must confess I began having withdrawal symptoms as I watched my friend drink his brew. And then my cup arrived as promised. Not only did the coffee prove worth the wait, but I was also given a gift of a free cup, for having to wait!!! Now, that my friends is true customer appreciation!!! That is how you treat people that have to wait no matter the service or product you provide. So my show today is all about thoughts of ways you might improve your customer appreciation service when someone has to wait. So many ways, and I especially like the reward system, because guess what! I'll be back! So please enjoy the show and sharing would be most appreciated!!! Also, remember to listen in Wednesday when Cynthia Bazin, my Laser Focused guest brings us tips and strategies. And please note our BeLive is being switched to Wednesdays at 9 AM PST 11 AM CST and NOON EST. Hope your day is AWESOME!!! Passing On A Smile, Gail
I know the song "Let It Go" is winging around in your brain, but I promise we do not even attempt to sing this classic song! But we do address how difficult it can be and some tips to help you. These are the topics that we expand on when you have the time to listen. Tips on Letting Go! 1. Toxic relationships 2. Trying to figure out 'why' 3. Trying to please everyone 4. The impossible standards we feel we have to live up to. We dig in much deeper than just this short description on the show. And then tomorrow we will address other topics that go along with this. You can join us at SmartChic.me/live at 9 AM PST 11 AM CST and Noon EST This is where you get to share your concerns, ask your questions or just join in the overall conversation. We always get a lively discussion going from people commenting! It's fun. And comments tell us it's helpful to many of us and we'd love to hear from you. If you know someone having trouble letting go of something, maybe this is something you'd like to share. Sometimes it's extra hard to help someone if you're too close and a third party viewpoint will help with a new perspective. Passing On A Smile, Gail
This is my tale of what I've been through when my momentum died! Have you ever been on a roll and things were happening according to all your plans and then it came to a screeching halt? Well after 7 years with Send Out Cards I felt like I was standing still. My momentum had definitely died. Unfortunately, it's not all under our control. So many factors play into what keeps us going and what comes along to stop us. I chose to detour because I was suffering from the loss of my team and so many other things. I just did not feel I could start over and so I went in a different direction and received so many gifts. Sometimes, to get a better perspective of where we are, we have to go off our chosen path. Not quit, but detour until we find our way back home. That's what happened to me. I truly believe when you listen in if you've been on a career journey of your own you'll be able to relate. I have received so many unexpected gifts on my jaunt. I learned about podcasts :-) I met Cynthia Bazin and Lisa Bechtol, two very cherished friends I would never have met, and many, many more people in my life. It wasn't an easy chose, my heart ached walking away for awhile, but I just felt so stuck and was so tired of nothing happening. As the plateau lingered on I lost my passion and my drive. And I just had to find a way to get moving again. So I chose a very different direction. I caution you to keep your dream upper most in your mind when you get into a slump or your momentum dies. Don't completely walk away if you're stuck. Wander around, find a new perspective, take a different unrelated adventure and see what gifts you receive. And then get back in the game! That's what I'm doing. Passing On A Smile, Gail
This is a HUGE subject that we expand as usual on our BeLive tomorrow...but read on to get started on where this is going to take us. 5 Hot Tips on Building Integrity! 1. Integrity is consistency. 2. Showing Up 3. Integrity is being honest about what you're not! 4. Integrity is being kind. No gossip 5. Integrity is being vulnerable. The quote below that Cynthia shares, expresses very much the essence of how vital being in integrity is in every aspect of our lives. And we all know people that have no clue. Those people are quite exasperating in so many ways. If you can't trust someone to do as they say, can you trust them for anything. So whether it's a personal relationship or business it is paramount to success. I've met some pretty skanky people in my time that had no qualms about promising you they would take action or provide a service that never happened. I had one such so-called friend that duped an entire group of women in this town. We all believed her promises and that she would do what she said she would do. Just a few of these things for me. She never joined me in my card business, which she promised for years. Promised if I would be her vendor she would join, even put it on her calendar. Never paid me for my editing of her magazine, or for the many articles I wrote for it. Never gave me the publicity she promised to include in the programs when I emcee'd her events. Like I said, just a few of those things. And she did this to so many people, we just truly thought eventually she would own up to these promises. Nope, and not one of us has anything more to do with her. Keep this quote handy and join us for our BeLive 9 am PST 11 CST and Noon EST tomorrow at SmartChic.me/live Passing On A Smile, Gail
I have a few friends who hate their birthdays because they are only focused on the growing old aspect. Me, I celebrate full tilt all year long because it validates another year of life! Life is short and we might want to grasp it with both hands, or not! This is just my perspective. I believe that we are all unique and precious and bring something to this world. And our birthdays are days to celebrate that. Hopefully, with loved ones, family, friends, business associates. Because if you don't care about your birthday you are denying your unique gift and purpose to this world. I talk about birthdays today, because today just happens to be mine! And I am celebrating!!! I want to say thank you to every single person that has sent me a card, a message, voice mail, Marco Polo or posted an emoji on FaceBook helping me celebrate. I've received so many blessings and the words touch my heart. This is what you deny yourself if you don't personally welcome your birthday. I'm not excited about getting older, 'cause I still feel like a kid, although my body is challenging that feeling!!! But it is so much better than the alternative. I won't belabor this point, because this is my perspective and I'm not looking for a debate. I just want to give you some insight on what might be a more fun approach. I know some of you feel there is nothing good about your birthday, life has always sucked and this is not important to you. I'm hoping you'll feel differently if you just reach out and celebrate someone else - it sorta has a boomerang affect. Sorta like me always passing on a smile, it does usually come back to you. Join me again on Wednesday when Cynthia Bazin of SmartChic brings us tips and strategies and then when I co-host with her on BeLive on Thursdays! 9 AM PST 11 CST Noon EST www.smartchic.me/live Passing On A Smile, Gail
Hope you had an awesome 4th of July!!! We sure did and thought we would continue with the fun with these very precise and do-able tips from my friend, laser focused mentor, Cynthia Bazin. I'm just going to give you the tips so you'll have to listen in to get the full scoop as we discuss them. Please be sure to grab a pen and paper to take notes. I always do!!! Here we go! 1. Take Care of Your Hot Mess! Because we all have them! 2. Taking care of Yourself - Physically and Emotionally 3. DRESS UP!!!! Be ready for business, feel good about yourself 4. Serve Others In Some Way 5. Surround Yourself With Confidence Building People - no negative Nellies in your circle So, if you're presently struggling through a situation that is zapping your self confidence or you've never felt confident, these tips are simple. However, if you take heart and apply them they are very powerful. But things don't happen overnight, so be patient with yourself and adopt these tips into your daily routine. Remember, you must respect yourself first before someone else is going to and that all comes from having a certain air of confidence. So if you are confident about who you are, others will take notice. Cynthia and I will dig deeper into this conversation tomorrow on our BeLive that airs at 9 AM PST 11 AM CST and Noon EST this discussion is at SmartChic.me/live Please bring your questions and concerns or share some insight that might help someone else. This is a huge topic and tons of experts speak about it, and write books about it. We offer a free mentoring session that can help you now :-) We appreciate you listening and sharing and the comments make us dance! Have an absolutely AWESOME day and we hope to see you tomorrow. Hello One Awesome Community! Summer is the time for re-runs, so I hope you'll understand an occasional replay. This one I think is very timely due to all the weird telemarketing, robot, crazy calls and emails I am receiving. We must be aware and help others, too! Hope you'll listen in and share! Sorry, we also changed the BeLive from Tuesday, back to Thursday, but it will be later - 2 PM PST 4 PM CST and 5 PM EST Join us at SmartChic.me/live It's going to be a Q & A session, so bring your questions! Let's help shed some insight on your concerns. Or you might be able to help someone with your own experiences! Here is a bit of the show notes on this replay: This show is actually all about protecting yourself from shady business people. You know what we’re talking about – the deal that sounds too good to be true. Turns out to be too good to be true!! Yes, there are exceptions to the rule, but this can be a signal we often ignore. So today… Passing On A Smile, Gail
I bet this is a loaded question for many of you? You feel like you can't shut down, too much you have to get done, quotas to meet, events to attend. So many demands on us, I know. But when I was selling time share one of the key points I would focus on with the couple or family I was touring, rest and relaxation is what rejuvenates us to do better than if we never let up. Did you know that in Europe it is mandatory that people take 6 weeks vacation. Why? Because they KNOW the difference it makes in the productivity of their work force. People in the US are afraid of negative actions if their boss sees them putting in for vacation. Afraid it would look like they don't want to work. Statistics prove, however, that employers appreciate their employees that understand the importance of shutting down and relaxing. Those employers 'get it'. Think about it. How do you feel when you take a long deep breath or drink that fresh cup of coffee and shut down for just a few minutes. Doesn't that give you an extra surge to begin again? Even in a tiny dose? So then why not do it at least every weekend? Or if you can only do it one day a week because of obligations, are you actually giving yourself that day to rejuvenate? I am passion about this subject because I've watched what happens to stressed out, overworked, burnt out people. Stress is a killer, but so many people end up feeding on the adrenaline of achievement. So I get such a kick out of seeing what a chillin' out weekend does for them! I believe, you must make rejuvenating a priority in your life - you only have one life to enjoy. Give yourself that time to have that joy. Tomorrow, on Tuesday instead of Thursday this week, Cynthia Bazin and I will be doing our BeLive broadcast at 9 am PST 11 am CST and Noon EST. Subject will be about connecting! SmartChic.me/live And Wednesdays, Cynthia Bazin, Laser Focused Mentor joins me for tips and strategies. Passing On A Smile, Gail
I don't know about you, but this has been a major challenge for me. I just start forming a pattern and life strolls in and upsets my apple cart and I never get started again. Groan. Is this you, too? Well, in my conversation with my friend, laser-focused mentor, Cynthia Bazin today she gives us some great insight. It's so vitally important to get this, if you want to grow your business. One of my consistencies that I have practiced for years, is sending a 'Nice To Meet You' card after attending events. Sometimes there is no mailing address on their business card so that gives me an excuse to call them. This does take time and discipline, but people remember me as 'The Hey Card Lady' that also does a podcast!!! Here are the areas that Cynthia talks about today. To get the full scope of how important this is, you'll want to listen in and hopefully you'll share this with someone that struggles in this. 1. Timing 2. Who You Are 3. Value You Bring We'll be expanding on this subject tomorrow, Thursday, June 22nd with our BeLive Broadcast with Cynthia hosting and me co-hosting. Please join us at 9 AM PST 11 AM CST and Noon EST at SmartChic.me/live And please accept my apologies for not being consistent this week. Episode 274 was recorded and ready to post when my computer had other ideas!!! So if your wondering why this is 275 - that's why! Plus, I want to see if anyone notices and comments!!! Always looking for feedback :-) Have an AWESOME day! Passing On A Smile, Gail
Would you agree that sometimes it's difficult to be honest? I know there have been times in my life that I hedged the truth to save face maybe, or to keep from hurting someone's feelings. However, as life experiences teach you wisdom you come to realize being honest, no matter how hard it might be sometimes, truly is the best policy. Such a situation just happened to me where someone had to make a painful admission on a phone call. Our housekeeper had to call and tell me she had broken a little antique cream pitcher of mine. I know that had to be a hard phone call for her to make, but I thanked her for making it. Had I come home to find it missing I would have thought I had done something to it. And trust me, confusing someone is not a good thing. So I thought I would share how much I appreciated her honesty and to take the opportunity to remind you of how important it can be, from dealing with our family members, to our friends, and to the people we encounter every day. Are you a sales rep, realtor, customer service rep, encounter customers regularly? Then I certainly hope you aren't fudging the truth to make a sale. That is not nice and will bite you in the end. So a very short show today because I don't think I have to pound this is in. We all know it, but sometimes it is so much easier to dance around the truth than face the consequences. But I truly believe there are usually more consequences to come if you don't! I appreciate your listening and sharing and wanted to let you know ideas are percolating on some changes I am making here very soon. So stay tuned. And remember on Wednesdays I do tips and strategies with my good friend, laser-focused mentor, Cynthia Bazin. Passing On A Smile, Gail
If you've ever been in any kind of business we are sure you've heard that the fortune is in the follow up! And it rings true to everything we do. From making a promise to someone, to closing a sale, growing a relationship...that's our conversation today! I got into Send Out Cards because I understand how important it is and I've been preaching it for 11 years and before that. Because in my sales career I was always sending thank you cards. My cards included a personal reference to the conversation we had just 10 minutes prior. This ties into Cynthia's first tip 'blocking out the time' for the follow up. Footnote to this, my advertising clients followed me on all my projects because I stayed in touch, I followed up and more. We also talk about keeping the follow up short. People are busy and whether it's an email, card or a phone call, make it brief and to the point. If it's to set an appointment, have your availability already in front of you and guide the conversation in that direction. Saves a ton of time and exasperation. And how about a call to action? Cynthia elaborates on this point and then we talk more about the effective follow up. No pitching or pressuring to close a sale or force a meeting. Relationships take time to build and sometimes the 'no' simply means 'not now'. And every situation is different. Enjoy the process, but always make time for it. Just ask the most successful business person you know and start up a conversation about following up. I bet you'll get a few gold nuggets. Speaking of gold nuggets, be sure to tune into our BeLive Broadcast tomorrow at 9 AM PST 11 CST and Noon EST. You just need to go to SmartChic.me/live at that time! Hope to see you there. Passing On A Smile, Gail
Do you ever struggle with negative thoughts or self-talk that destroys your smile? We all have these days and they aren't fun. So today we talk about 5 ways that you can shift that outlook and embrace a sunnier outlook. But these are practices that you might want to add into your daily routine. Here's the 5 ways - just the title, so to get the most out of our discussions, you'll want to listen in and take notes. Invaluable insight to just some of the ways that Cynthia and I use to stay as positive as possible. 1. Exercise - Self-care 2. Own MY Happiness 3. Live Up To My Own Expectations 4. Say No More Often 5. Keep Growing & Learning Something New Hopefully, something here stirs you into action and you'll quickly add these simple ways into your life. I add one more item to this list - let me know what you think. Speaking of what you think, please join us on our BeLive Broadcast tomorrow at 9 AM PST, 11 AM CST and NOON EST for a Q & A - we want to hear what you think and what you might want to discuss! You'll find us at SmartChic.me/Live Replay will be at YouTube.com/gailfoley Thank you so much for listening and sharing - you make my day when you comment, too. Just sayin' :-) Passing On A Smile, Gail
Wow, we've been in a whirlwind of celebrations for this entire month! We've had 3 college graduations last weekend, a high school graduation party this weekend, an engagement announcement and our great grand baby's first birthday party!!!! YES, BIG WOW!!! I didn't immediately come up with this particular topic, but when you listen in you'll appreciate the importance of this quote: "You are a good and faithful servant! You've been faithful over a little. I'll put you in charge of much. Come, celebrate with me."-- Matthew 25:21 But in my perspective of what this quote is referring to, I find so many little 'wins' leading to the big events. Yet, many of us put blinders on and so super focus on the big goal that we forget to celebrate all the special moments leading to the BIG celebration. Many steps along the way make the arrival so sweet, and if you cherish those along the way, the success is so much more. I really believe that setting aside the main thing for a while and just doing something each day that means something to someone else enriches your day. Something as simple as sending an unexpected greeting card, writing a supportive email, responding to a friend request, smiling at a stranger. My friend, Cynthia Bazin, laser-focused mentor extraordinaire asks her Inner Circle members to share their wins EVERY day because she knows the value of those little moments. If you've not embraced the idea of celebrating your little wins, give it a try and see how joyful this approach can be. I learned this years ago and I know it makes a huge difference in my life, every day! And please remember that Wednesday, Cynthia and I will be sharing tips and strategies with you and on Thursday resuming our BeLive discussion on organizing! 9 AM PST 11 AM CST and NOON EST Enjoy an awesome day and thank you for listening, commenting and sharing! I sooooo appreciate it! Passing On A Smile, Gail
Wow, I think this is a BIG subject for a lot of people! Cynthia Bazin and I are both pretty organized, but we're still learning some new ones. I have a 24 year career background keeping other people organized as an Executive Secretary or Admin person. All those years I prided myself on being able to produce a document on demand for whoever needed it. However, I know that is not everyone's forte. I knew this for sure when I inherited 7 years of piles of unorganized, un-filed papers from a former secretary when I took over her position. Daunting, to say the least. Cynthia and I talk about ways to organize those piles, electronic and the old fashioned paper kind. You'll want to listen in to get the scoop and hear our fun as we discuss this topic. And then join us tomorrow at 9 AM PST, 11 AM CST or noon EST on our BeLive as we extend this conversation to include you and hear all your tips and strategies. What is your favorite way to keep organized? We'd love for you to join us on the show at www.SmartChic.me/Live So in the meantime, you can start being organized by adding this to your calendar! Would hate for you to miss it :-) And thank you in advance for sharing this - we all know someone that is chronically missing appointments or feeling overwhelmed by the inbox or pile of papers towering on their desks!! Passing On A BIG Smile, Gail
You have got to listen to this one, for sure! Cynthia and I never rehearse these segments, but we are always on the 'same page'. Today's show emphasizes that big time! Almost spooky! If you ever struggle to make decisions, big or small, these steps Cynthia and I share today may help you struggle less. And very importantly help you be more secure in your decision making. We also wrestle with the fear of making the wrong decision - that subject we will address next week on the show. So just a little glimpse of these 4 steps: 1. Clearing space to ponder 2. Physically and logically accessing - have to listen to find out how to best approach this step 3. What's important to us 4. Own that decision after you make it So that's just a tease for you to want to listen in. And tomorrow we will be talking about the "Smartest Decisions You Have Made In Life" on our BeLive Show. We're both making a list, but not sharing until we get on the show. We'd love for you to join us and share yours. Here's the video link that will tell you more. So while you're doing your social media visiting today we'd love for you to share the show and let people know about our upcoming discussion! And thank you in advance :-) Passing On A Smile, Gail
This is a HUGE subject that we talk about today and the tips are invaluable. If you've ever struggled with finding ways to incorporate positive action in your daily life, then this is a must listen to broadcast. I won't share the habits here, because listening to why they are important is invaluable. Grab a pen to write them down, I did :-) We continue this conversation on our BeLive today at 9 AM PST 11 AM CST and Noon EST at SmartChic.me/Live Please join us and share your habits that have helped you personally and professionally. Passing On A Smile, Gail
We've all been there, I'm thinking. We get so excited when we think we've found someone that can actually help us achieve our goals and accomplish our life long dream. But hold the presses! Do you know for sure they are really the right person, the right fit and have the right venue for you? These are all the things we talk about on the show today. It's so much more than just plunking down that credit card and praying this is it. Cynthia Bazin and I have both been pulled into the 'expert' that really has zero expertise or purchased an inflated product that proved to be an overwhelm rather than laser-focused on our goals. So if you're on the search for a mentor or an expert of any kind I think listening to today's conversation will enlighten you to the best practices to put in place, always, to get the best connection. And then you'll want to be sure to join in tomorrow (Thursday, April 27, 2017) for our BeLive broadcast at 9 AM PST 11 AM CST and Noon EST. At www.Smartchic.me/live It's going to be something new - we're going to open it up to you for a 'Questions and Answers' session. So whatever is pressing on you right now, professional or personal, we're going to address your concerns. And if you're on live you can join in on helping others with their needs. However, if for some reason you miss the live show you can find the replay on my YouTube Channel - on Friday. Enjoy your day and thank you for listening and sharing. Pass On A Smile, Gail
We start today's show off with an exceptional quote Cynthia shared... "Procrastination is the bad habit of putting off until the day after tomorrow what should have been done the day before yesterday." ~ Napoleon Hill Then we launch into these tips. But don't be fooled by these short little titles. We expand on these and give examples of our own. So please don't put this off - procrastinate :-) in listening because you may need these tips today, not tomorrow. And of course, your help in sharing and commenting is forever and always most appreciated. We continue this discussion on the BeLive that I co-host with Cynthia Bazin at 9 AM PST 11 AM CST and Noon EST on Thursdays. Join in the fun, mark your calendars and we'll catch you there! We follow the theme that we started on my podcast so if this resonates with you, we'll spend an hour on this subject tomorrow. And if you have to miss it you'll find the replays on my YouTube Channel. Tips To Push Past Procrastination 1. Stop The Excuses – Commit 2. Have This Only In Front Of You 3. Break It Down Super tiny steps– Stop the Overwhelm 4. Accountability Buddy And I threw in the importance of having a goal, a deadline!!! Passing On A Smile, Gail
If you listened to Episode 258 you know this show is a continuation of Business Etiquette, just not the same as that show :-) We will continue this topic on our BeLive discussion tomorrow at facebook.com/thesmartchic 9 AM PST 11 AM CST Noon EST Today's tips are simple reminders of what we all know. 1. Treat people like you want to be treated 2. Always be humble 3. Quality time vs quantity conversations Please listen in for the full scoop and then join us tomorrow and give us your thoughts. Passing On A Smile, Gail
Here are the 2 questions we ask you to ponder and our conversation weaves in and around why we ask you to ask this of yourself. 1. What Do Want Your Legacy To Be? 2. Right Now Are You Doing Those Things Lead To That Legacy? Do you ever ponder on what your purpose is? Do you ever question what your doing is really what you want to be doing? These are all combined into what your 'legacy' is... Our topic is very timely for many of us and Cynthia and I expand on how this is not necessarily a monumental impression you leave behind, but something very simple. And because this is such a deep subject we will be expanding this conversation on our Thursday BeLive at facebook.com/thesmartchic at 9 AM PST 11 CST and Noon EST We hope you'll listen to this show, make comments and share and then mark your calendars to join us. We'd love to have you on there live with us to give us your feedback, your experience. It may help someone else, because, we are all in this together. Passing On A Smile, Gail
I'm back from Italy, but will share those stories in future episodes because Wednesday is dedicated to hearing tips and strategies from my dear friend, Cynthia Bazin of SmartChic. Here is a very abbreviated list of these 5 tips she shares with us today. You'll want to listen in and take plenty of notes to get the full benefit of what Cynthia has to say. Like always she shares some amazing insight on this topic. And I, of course, had plenty to say about this subject. 1. Specify What You Want To Do 2. Do Your Research 3. Take small steps of action. 4. Remember there will be things that don't go perfectly 5. Set up a reward for yourself. Please take a minute to share these tips with that friend or acquaintance you know that has been floundering in indecision. It's never easy for most of us to take that step outside our comfort zone. But for those of you that have, you know the rewards are will worth it. We are so thankful you listen and share. Your feedback helps Cynthia and I stay on track to laser-focus on what is important to you because that's what this is all about. Passing On A Smile, Gail

This is sorta in the same vein as who's in your inner circle...because what you see on your walls every day do affect you. Do you have framed favorite quotes? Please listen in to find out my perspective on this question and hear all the updates coming your way. Basically, you'll be getting re-plays of past episodes because Cynthia Bazin and I are both traveling. I will be totally out of touch from March 18th through March 27th. In case, you don't know, Cynthia Bazin and I team up on Thursdays to extend our conversation from our Wednesday segments. We do this version in front of a live Facebook audience. And I realize that a lot of you may never get a chance to jump online to watch our BeLive segments, or simply find it easier if it's just an audio. So, light bulb moment :-) I thought I would share it with you this way. They are definitely a wee bit longer than my normal shows, but I truly believe you'll love them. Because of the length I do not add in my intro and exit tunes! Your feedback would be wonderful. I am amazed with the quality of the sound. So Cynthia and I are going to test the waters with our next Wednesday segment on BeLive so you'll see us in action doing our podcast tips and strategies!!! New shows with Cynthia and I will most likely start the last week of March. We are both traveling for the next several weeks. I will be setting up replays of the most popular segments in case you never heard them the first time :-) Have an awesome weekend, my One Awesome Community! I so, so appreciate you for listening, sharing and commenting! Passing On A Smile, Gail P.S. If you haven't subscribed yet, please go on over to OneAwesomeCommunity.com - my thank you gift to you is my e-book "Brand YOURSELF Awesome" because people want to know you behind your brand.
I think we all know the negative Nellie's in our lives. In fact, 30 years ago I was one! Not all the time, but I was a roller coaster ride with my spill over up and down emotions and I'm sure, tainted my relationships. Thankfully, a friend gave me an "attitude adjustment" and I set my course to change. I no longer hold that title. So Cynthia Bazin's 4 qualities today start with the importance of having positive people in your inner circle. A monumental and powerful quality that makes such an incredible difference. She goes on to share 3 more qualities that reflect on how we grow personally and professionally, depending on who's in our 'inner circle'. Have you taken a look lately at who occupies much of your time? Do they pump you up, tear you down, make you happy, create havoc? These are some of the things that you may want to focus on to determine who needs to stay and who needs to go. It's not always easy to distance yourself from certain people, but if you have a caustic person in your life that energy drain can be impacting you more than you know. So we invite you to listen in today, comment and share and then mark your calendar for our BeLive broadcast tomorrow as we expand on this same topic. Please join us and bring questions, insight, concerns and or just say Hi. We'd love to know you're there. It will be live at 9:30 AM PST, 11:30 AM CST and 12:30 PST at https://facebook.com/thesmartchic You can also find the previous shows on my on my YouTube channel :-) Thanks for listening. Passing On A Smile, Gail
Do you often find yourself responding to that nudge or that gut feeling? I truly believe most women understand and can relate to this subject. I attended an awesome seminar at a new local 'school' actually celebrating her 1st year, Finishing School For Modern Women. Now for those of you that immediately think like I do, yeah, we can get some manners going, etc. Not so. Nope this is not that at all. This is about women learning to claim their power in business, finance, communication and life. All taught by experts in their field. I actually know the founder and Head Mistress Jill and decided to attend this seminar called, Everyday Intuition! What an eye opening, fun, entertaining experience. I met women of all ages, including 2 grandmothers who brought their high school age granddaughters. We meditated, we discussed and we learned how to tap into our intuitive style and to give a reading for someone else!!! The Co Teacher for this event was Jennifer Jean Miller, a practicing physic from Florida. You can find out more at her site, Readings By Jennifer Jean So I really, really recommend you listen to my show today if you've ever been puzzled by how you respond to certain people, how you make decisions. Or what about when you decide to take a different route in your travels, just a nudge saying go this way? Then find out that saved you from a possible accident. So many people have experienced these things. Do you find you have a lot of coincidences in your life? Maybe they're not. And after you listen, comment and share, you may want to mark your calendars for our Wednesday Tips and Strategies show with Cynthia Bazin of SmartChic.me and for our BeLive Mentoring show on Thursday at 9:30 PST, 11:30 CST and 12:30 EST. Thank you always for listening - your feedback is priceless, just so you know. Passing On A Smile, Gail
The title is a bit long today, so here's the full gist of what we are talking about today: "Tips in Dealing with Communication Issues Within Relationships". I know that my husband and I often communicate easily when we know the train of thought immediately. We often answer the question we know is coming before it's asked. But a great many times we are clueless in being on the same page. So you may hear me tearing off a new tablet sheet on the show. I'm scribbling notes and needed more paper! Cynthia talks about keeping the line of communications open. Making a commitment to try to get better at sharing our thoughts and concerns with each other. The full title to this episode is 'with your audience'. And as always when Cynthia is in the house she shares an awesome quote with us. Today's quote: "Every time you have to make a choice about anything, think, Does this go toward or away from what I want? Always choose what goes toward what you want." --Barbara Shire Our conversation continues on how you conduct yourself when you are connecting with someone. The message is powerful and very easy to apply, if you choose to. And as you listen you will hear a pattern with the word 'message' because when you are connecting with your audience of one or one-thousand, you are giving a message. So listen in and receive the laser-focused tips that Cynthia Bazin with Smart Chic shares with us. You'll want to make your own notes, like I made mine. And to make sure you never miss any of these awesome tips and strategies sessions you can simply subscribe at OneAwesomeCommunity.com and get all new episodes delivered directly to your email inbox. Thank you for listening, commenting and sharing, we so appreciate hearing from you. Passing On A Smile, Gail
Are you a chronically late person who is always rushing to get to an appointment, finish a project? That's what this show is all about. Recent events led me to this subject, like most of my shows, and is something I believe in one form or fashion we do to ourselves. Whether it's because we are a procrastinator or like me, gets caught up in a project? Regardless of how we got to be a 'rusher' I truly believe it is in our best interest to change that habit or behavior. Because in reality it is a pattern of our life and spills over into everything we do. Think about it? How does rushing affect you and those around you. Is it causing you tension in a relationship? Is it reflecting in poor time management at work? Are your clients not feeling like you are doing a quality job for them? Listen in to hear my story, not all sunshine and roses, but real. I've been very guilty of what I am talking about, but I wanted to make a change badly enough that I did. I hope you'll share this with someone who won't hear your thoughts on this subject, but might listen from someone else. And thank you for listening, you're AWESOME! And remember, Wednesday we'll hear from Cynthia Bazin with her laser-focused tips!!! Passing On A Smile, Gail

There are two questions that we have to ask ourselves. The first is ‘Where am I going?’ and the second is ‘Who will go with me?' --Howard Thurman On today's show, Cynthia Bazin, mentor, motivational speaker, award winning media star and so much more, reflects on this quote. Listen in to get inspired by our conversation. You can get the drift from the show notes, but so much more is shared in our discussion. Two Questions To Ask Yourself Each Day 1. Where Am I Going? Every single day I want you to ground yourself and ask this question when something comes in at you. I want you to have the end result in mind. That final goal that you have. But every time the noise comes in. Every time someone asks you to do something. I want you to ask yourself. Am I moving towards or away from my intentions.. my goal. Put 1-3 things you want to do each day. 2. Who Will Go With Me? Who needs to go? Who is not coming along for the ride? Who always has a seat in this journey of life? Those people that stick with you. These are those you need to always stay loyal to. Who can you serve today. And who needs to invited along for the journey. These are the people that inspire you. Support you. Advise you. Are true friends to you. After you listen, we'd love for you to comment and share. Someone is struggling and maybe in silence. You'll never know you've helped someone if you never share. And thank you, we so appreciate it. Passing On A Smile, Gail
I simply could not resist this image I used to post this show. It just brings me joy when I look at it and reminds me of the joy I received today by 'going with the flow'. As an entrepreneur we wear all the hats, at least in the beginning. We're the webmaster, the graphic designer, the sales rep, the accountant, the marketing guru and whatever else it takes to actually do your business. Now, if none of these things are actually your business than, dang, you have a lot on your plate before he even get to work on your business. I happen to be one that wear all the hats and today, I had a huge list of 'to do's' I wanted to make a dent in. However, as early as breakfast time things shifted for me. Totally unexpected events. And I had a choice, do I allow for the interruption or do I relent and put my nose to the grindstone and do my 'to do's?' I chose to 'go with the flow'. Why, well, you'll need to listen to what I'm talking about when I say 'going with the flow'. It may or may not be what you are thinking I am talking about. One never knows. After you listen, I would love your comments and shares. Those of you that take the time, I appreciate it more than my words can ever convey. Passing On A Smile, Gail P.S. Remember, Cynthia Bazin will join me on Wednesday with her brilliant laser-focused tips! By subscribing to my channel you'll never miss it. Just saying :-)
Cynthia Bazin sets the tone on today's show when she suggests we start our day with the affirmation "I AM a leader." It's a powerful statement that your body will soon start to recognize as the truth, even if you don't feel that way right now. As our discussion unfolds with our Laser-Focused mentor, Smart Chic, Cynthia Bazin she focuses on 4 simple, but very powerful tips to enforce this affirmation. I'll give you a brief overview, but to get the full scope of this topic you'll definitely want to listen in and grab a pen to write them down. I write them down every show as she is sharing them! 1. Take control of your life. 2. Develop some sort of strategy. 3. You need a lot of energy. Self-care must be a priority. 4. Great people are supported by other great people. We talk in detail on how to apply these tips and would really love your feedback on what works for you. And sharing may help someone else. You'll also hear about the three different events where Cynthia will be speaking - so you'll want to visit her at SmartChic.me for all the information. Plus, if you listen you'll hear she can get discounted tickets to one of them :-) Thanks for listening, we so appreciate it! Passing On A Smile, Gail
This is a loaded subject and was triggered by my dentist appointment today! No, I'm not applauding or complaining, just reflecting on all the messages a simple smile can portray. Cynthia and I recently talked about first impressions, just 4 little tips, but I'm going to expand on that just a bit. How do you react when you meet a business person for the first time and their smile shows broken or missing teeth? We try not to judge, but isn't your very first impression, oh my goodness? If that person isn't taking care of her teeth, her health, her appearance can I trust her to do business with? I'm not saying we need Hollywood picture perfect teeth, but a healthy smile reflects a great deal of who you are. I wasn't thrilled about going to get a new crown today to replace one that had a cavity under it. My anxiety level was off the chart worried about the possibility of a root canal. And, of course, the cost is not cheap for good dental work. However, it is your health, and that smile that spreads from your heart to your eyes, and to your mouth which sends a very big message! I'd love for you to listen and share your thoughts. And then share this, maybe someone you know is beautiful except for that smile and you just don't know how to share this message. And thank you for listening. You make my day when I see you've listened. Passing On A Smile, Gail P.S. Remember on Wednesdays, it's tips and strategies with Cynthia Bazin
This subject on my show today is so enlightening! You may think you know all the things you need to do, but you've got to listen in to hear Cynthia's recent experience. It will give you pause for thought, we've all been there! The tips are short and sweet, but have the most impact when you actually listen. So no special tips here - better to grab your pen and paper or just listen many times to get it all! As always, we have fun sharing these tips and would love to hear from you if you have something to add to this list. Plus, hearing from you through comments and sharing helps us know we are listening to what you need to hear. On Thursdays we extend today's conversation with a BeLive mentoring and networking event, open to everyone. 9 AM PST, 11 AM CST and Noon EST. Please join us and participate via our chat stream, we'll be expanding on how we communication. And Friday, make sure you tune in to hear my interview with Awilda Rivera, Success Coach, Spiritual Advisor and so much more. Very awesome! And thank you in advance for sharing the show - 'cause someone needs help with this very subject, even if you don't. Passing On A Smile, Gail
Today is Martin Luther King, Jr,'s Day. So I believe this quote is far beyond being appropriate: "The quality, not longevity, of one's life is what is important." --Martin Luther King Jr. I share with you on this show, the immense power of everything we learn, from our mothers and our fathers, to our teachers, our mentors, our coaches. And then I talk about YOU and your gifts. You may never call yourself a 'teacher'. You may never be paid for the lessons you share. You may never know the power you transfer with your simple life knowledge. But you are, indeed, someone teaching and helping someone else grow. I talk about Shelly Drymon and her mission. Lisa Bechtol and her driving force, Cynthia Bazin mentoring motivation, April Bolivar, dog trainer. They have all been guests on my show for their incredible YOU power of sharing their gifts. Please listen, comment and share. And thank you. Passing On A Smile, Gail
Happy 2017! Isn't it exciting to be at a new beginning of a new year? I hope you had a great Holiday Season and found joy, fun and shared cherished moments. If this wasn't the case, I am truly sorry. So many people are ready to jump in with resolutions, and goals and commitments and ready to turn their life around with a new fresh start. This is awesome!!! As I grabbed my lunch today, I was thinking on this and picked up a favorite publication I receive. "Guideposts" I find this inspiring and uplifting and share my issues with my daughter who passes it on to a friend, who shares and we keep it going. Today I found an article by Dr. Norman Vincent Peale, Cofounder of Guideposts and the author of "The Power of Positive Thinking". This article is called "Let, HOPE, Light Your Way" a timeless New Year's message from 1987. And the word "Expectancy" jumped out at me when read Dr. Peale's explanation: "When you hope -- really hope - - then a magic ingredient comes into play. The ingredient is expectancy. Expectancy says 'This desired outcome can happen. I think it's going to happen. Right now it may be just a dream, but it's a realizable dream.' When you start hoping instead of just wishing, then expectation is stirring in you." I suddenly felt compelled to talk about this very subject to remind you how powerful the word HOPE is. I've heard well meaning people tell someone that you can't get anything by just hoping. Well, obviously, if there is action you can take to move it forward and include hope, yes it can happen! Listen in so you can hear more about my take on this article and I HOPE you'll share it with someone else that might need to know the power of HOPE. Passing On A Smile, Gail P.S. Tomorrow - Thursday, Cynthia Bazin will be sharing her take on the power of resolutions! If you subscribe on my channel you'll be sure to get it in your inbox, plus my e-book "Brand YOURSELF Awesome" - OneAwesomeCommunity.com
I simply could not end 2016 without one last shout out to my listeners and getting back in the groove! Holidays are warm and fuzzy and very distracting all at the same time. I've loved our family gatherings and our traditions of dinner together, gift exchanges and just being together... But when the dust settles and most of the family leaves, then you look around at your house totally decorated for the holidays and it imparts this feeling of being in a holding pattern. Even when I worked outside my home, I was always lethargic and rather non productive during the last week of the year. I pretty much feel that now and I work from home! Duh! But I realized that the word 'consistency' never stops echoing in my head when I think about not doing something that I normally do. And that made me realize I also miss the routine of normal life. This holiday lull can be very habit forming! So today I wanted to simply impart that realization, but mostly, I want to thank you from the bottom of my heart for your continuing to listen to me and give a purpose, to my purpose. Your comments and insight has kept me inspired to always do another one. And to my guests, wow, you were awesome and added so much to my show. And, of course, big hugs to Cynthia Bazin for her ongoing contributions. She has helped me reach more people and helped so many I know with her tips and strategies. So thank you to all of you, your awesomeness has made my year so very special and I can't thank you enough! Have a fun and fabulous celebration as you ring in 2017! This is me signing off on my show for 2016! Passing On A Smile, Gail
Acronyms have become a way of life...crazy abbreviations outside of any that niche industries have created. I imagine most of us have worked in a business or two where certain company abbreviations were well understood. But today with texting and 140 characters of Twitter, we are quickly loosing our social conversational skills. Have you recently got a text with a acronym you don't know? So do you ask, what did you just say? Or do you try to figure it out so you don't look or feel stupid? I've tried that, but for me, I want to know, what did you say??? I know a few that have been around for years: LOL - laugh outloud BTW - by the way ASAP - as soon as possible. ASAP has been a business slang for a long time, but the others have come from our mobile device use. Instead of conversation, some of us talk in short bits and spurts spouting abbreviations. I found a list of 50, here's just 3 I did not know: POV - point of view TWTH - Tuesday Wednesday Thursday SLAP - Sounds like a plan I'm just concerned the phrase "The Art of Conversation" won't make sense to a lot of people in the not too distant future. Who wants to spend all that energy talking in full sentences. I've heard on a couple TV shows expressions like, "Come With?" What! Saying "you want to come with me?" is too much to say??? Check yourself my friends, are you being clear with what you say or are you abbreviating to the point that the person on the other end is not clear of what you said. People won't usually ask for clarification for fear of looking stupid. Lots of miscommunication already through emails and texting, tough on relationships for sure. Imagine following up with a first date and sending 'SWAK' in a text. What if they don't know what you're saying? Just saying. Passing On A Smile, Gail P.S. Wednesday is more tips with Cynthia Bazin, Episode 228 and Episode 229 you'll hear Dayanna Valenciano Luna share her story of how her handbag line came to be. And you'll want to listen for the promo code for 50% off :-)
Do you hear the jingle bells? See all the trees already decorated and the Christmas lights on the houses? What about all the stores? Elves have been everywhere, long before Black Friday :-) That's why I just had to share how this season goes for me. It's all about creating that special Christmas card or two and the fun I have sending them to everyone! It's a long established tradition that I believe goes back to the 1700's! And so that's what I talk about today is the gift that a Christmas card truly is. Because it really is so much more than just a card. It's hearing from you. You're reaching out and wishing them a happy holiday, a Merry Christmas. How do you feel when you get a card in the mail, any time? But something about those heartfelt Christmas cards that just adds to the warmness of the holiday. So I invite you to listen in to my story about how I send cards and what my reflection is in this regard. I talk about Send Out Cards which I have been a part of for over 11 years now and how easy it is to use our system. But it doesn't really matter if you use ours or buy Hallmark or print off that family newsletter on your computer and stuff them into an envelope with those precious photos. What matters is that you send them. I love the photo cards with family all gathered together, in that frozen moment of time where you're all happy to be together. It's a stressful time of the year, except when you take the time to open those Christmas cards and display them for family and friends to enjoy, too. So grab a cup of eggnog or coffee and listen to my show, and sharing is always appreciated. And stay tuned tomorrow for Cynthia Bazin of SmartChic sharing more of her brilliance and on Thursday, April Bolivar of FollowAprilsLead.com will talk about training your dogs and her new book!!! In the meantime... Passing On A Smile, Gail P.S. To check out the Send Out Cards system and send a card on me - heycardlady.com
I'm not really fond of the fact this is the second scary subject I'm bringing to you, but when life lessons happen I have a mission to share it with you. And this is not one I wished I'd ever experienced. While my children are away doing family duties in another state we were asked to be with our grand daughter while they were gone. Our absolute pleasure, of course. Plus, puppy and dog duties, too. So being a very independent and active 18-year old she had plans last night. No biggie, we did too, and we were all to meet up later at her house. I planned to spend the night and help her with homework and getting off in a timely fashion in the morning. All was going as planned until we got a phone call at 9 PM telling us her wallet had been stolen and...her wallet was attached to her car keys!!! Yikes. And her license, school ID, base ID, insurance card and her whole young life in this wallet key chain combo. So we had to run out an extra key that only unlocked the car, not configured to drive it, and get things out that she had stowed for her friends. Thankfully, she had her phone so we were able to communicate. Well the evening continued with getting us all home and very worried about the severe implications. Mom and Dad immediately cancelled the debit card, but what about identity theft, and fraud on all levels? Not to mention getting a replacement license, etc. Losing her money and hundreds of dollars worth of gift cards she'd received. Changing the door locks, 'cause the house key was on that key ring, too!!! So at midnight the Sheriff's office came by to take down a statement to file a report. Need less to say, we did not get much sleep and our grand daughter did not get her homework done. Lesson is, as you hear me talk about on this show, we cannot leave our purses, wallets, keys, suitcases or what have you just casually stashed somewhere or with other people. You'll want to hear the whole story, 'cause I bet you've been there, done that. So if you don't mind, sharing this it could save someone else a great deal of pain. Passing On A Smile, Gail P.S. Wednesday's podcast with Cynthia Bazin on "Tips & Strategies" will be so much more uplifting! I promise :-)
Loaded question, huh? Because you're wondering what in the world am I talking about and you have no idea if you are or you aren't. Here's what my message is all about today. Are you drifting away from those really awesome good habits you've had and drifting into not so good behavior? Simple example. Did you used to have family meals around the dinner table every night? Did all the family activity start sidelining that? That happens. But what about those nights everyone is home and you opt for sitting in front of the TV instead of sitting at the table...you are drifting away from an invaluable habit. Gathering around the table should be far more often than our big holiday Thanksgiving meal. In all cultures breaking bread together is a sacred and valued practice. Yet, we all get soooo busy we drift and don't realize the consequences of moving away from it. So I talk about other habits we drift away from. Ever been totally committed to that work out EVERY day? And then you take that extended vacation, or you get the flu, or a new project takes up your time and suddenly you can't seem to get back on track? Happens to all of us! We have certain ingrained habits because that's what gives us our structure, our security. But what about those extra good ones we could institute, like meditating? So so good for the stress, but it stresses me out setting aside 20 minutes to do that!!! However, I am drifting back to getting back into that habit. And come Thursday, you'll hear me interview my awesome friend, partner, mentor Cynthia Bazin of Smart Chics and learn how she laser-focuses on her social media to grow her business. She has some incredible habits that have been very beneficial - so please put it down on your calendar to tune in. Or if you go to my site: oneawesomecommunity.com and subscribe you'll get a copy of my free e-book "Brand Yourself Awesome" and you'll get each podcast delivered right to your email when it's published. I hope you do, but either way thanks for listening. Passing On A Smile, Gail
I'm sure if you've been listening to me, you know I talk about keeping a gratitude journal. Every night I write down 5 things I am grateful for. And I also like to list things I accomplished after that, because I am always grateful I accomplished something :-) This show is about all the other little things that I am grateful for that may not ever make it into my journal. But never the less, I am grateful. Some of my musings I find quite hilarious and hope that comes across. Simple appreciation for things we all take for granted. I don't specifically mention this awesome sweet puppy (on my display here) in this show, because most people would dispute the love and affection of any animal, not to mention this adorable guy as no 'little' thing. by the way he's our sweet 5 month old Miniature Schnauzer grand-dog and stands just about 6" tall. So I'm hoping you can add to this list that I share here. I thought going into this show it would be a short one, but it didn't turn out that way. I did mention on this show that I have two interviews coming up you don't want to miss. Thursday, the 27th of October I interview Shelly Drymon of The Rescue Yourself Project and on November 2nd I have Cynthia Bazin on the show to share her awesome social media successes and how she uses them to grow her business. Both shows will be worth listening to and sharing with as many people as possible. Nuggets of gold on 2 very different subjects. And there will be more interviews coming. If you have any particular interests or people you would like to hear from, please let me know. I have had inquiries from a few people wanting to be guests, but I thought I would inquire of my listeners, first. Just email that to me at gail@1awesomecommunity.com. Passing On A Smile, Gail
Wondering what the heck I mean by that? It's something I've been preaching for a long time. Always encouraging people to attend their conventions and seminars. And, too, outside events not necessarily connected to their business or their profession in order to get another perspective... This episode today is about something a wee bit different! It's about actually meeting up with those Social Media friends that have been supporting you and encouraging you virtually. Cynthia Bazin of Smart Chics started an online membership group called the Inner Circle over 2 years ago and I am proud to say I was one of the first members. The group has grown and attracted some of thee most incredible women I have ever met. So when Cynthia organized an official meet up for us - I was in!!! And thank you, Cynthia!!! So in order to hear all about the fun we had and why you really, really want to consider creating a Mastermind Meet Up or a dinner gathering in your own backyard, you'll just have to listen. You'll hear me share all about our AWESOME Mastermind session and the additional fun we had breaking bread, shopping, hanging out, exploring and more. Connecting in person is magical. You really, really get to know that person so much more than a FB message or a networking FireTalk session or a Zoom event. Whether we know it or not, we're a tad bit guarded when we know EVERYONE has access to this recording. It's just human nature. But when you come together and let your hair down and open the discussion! Wham, feel the magic. I hope with all of my heart you will share this with others. There is always someone that needs to hear this from someone other than yourself. I can talk till I'm blue in my face to my hubby, but the minute he hears it from someone else, oh yeah! It's golden. Passing On A Smile, Gail
