And this conversation goes a lot deeper than seeing clearly. Dr. Bryce Applebaum is a functional neuro optometrist who rewires the connection between the eyes and the brain. Vision is not the same as eyesight. Eyesight is how you focus light. Vision is how your brain tells your eyes to move, converge, track, and make sense of the world. And in 2026, with the average adult spending over seven hours a day on screens, that system is under more stress than it has ever been. In this episode, you'll discover: • Why your prescription should not get stronger every year as an adult, and why a worsening prescription is a sign your brain is adapting to stress, not a normal part of aging • The connection between functional vision problems and ADHD, including why convergence insufficiency and eye turns are diagnosed far more often in kids labeled with ADHD, and how vision training has gotten patients off medication entirely • Why blue light blocking glasses are not enough, what is actually causing your brain fog and eye fatigue after hours on a screen, and the overnight contact lenses that reshape your cornea while you sleep Plus the foods that protect your eyes, the foods that accelerate macular degeneration, and why vision belongs at the top of your list if you are dealing with brain fog. Hey friend, Do you have flare-ups that seem to come out of nowhere, and you cannot trace them to anything you ate or did? Has your doctor said "everything looks fine" while your body is clearly not fine? Have you wondered if the hard week you just had has anything to do with the way your body feels right now? I'm Ashley — a mom living with chronic illness in a neurodivergent family. If you're dealing with constant fatigue, brain fog, inflammation, and broken sleep while trying to keep up with your kids, you're not alone. Chronic Illness Moms is a podcast for moms with chronic illness or chronic symptoms who want stress relief, better sleep, and simple, realistic habits that actually work inside a full, demanding life. In this episode, I'm walking through the connection most of us were never taught — the real biological link between unprocessed emotional stress and physical inflammation. I'm explaining how your immune system responds to emotional stress the same way it responds to physical threats, and giving you one small subtractive win: pulling ONE emotional input out of your life for seven days and noticing what your body does. Have you ever walked into a room and completely forgotten why you were there? Do you constantly find yourself trying to remember where you put your keys? Since Brian's unexpected passing in January, Adrienne has found herself forgetting appointments, losing her train of thought mid-sentence, rereading emails multiple times, and wondering if something was actually wrong with her. As it turns out, she's not alone. In this episode, Adrienne explores the very real experience often called widow brain or grief brain—the memory lapses, brain fog, difficulty concentrating, and decision fatigue that so many people experience after a major loss. She shares her own struggles navigating grief, probate, finances, parenting, and everyday life while trying to function with what sometimes feels like 97 browser tabs open at once.Along the way, she explores cognitive overload and what has helped her cope. Learning that forgetting things may not be a sign that you're failing—it may be a sign that your brain is working overtime to adapt to a life you never expected. If you've ever wondered why grief makes even simple tasks feel harder, this conversation is for you.Because sometimes healing looks a lot less like moving on and a lot more like walking back into the room to remember why you went there in the first place.Send us Fan MailFor those who have reached out asking how to support Adrienne and her family during this time, click here to donate. If you've been struggling with brain fog, fatigue, poor concentration, or memory issues and you've been told everything looks “normal,” this episode will help you understand what may actually be going on beneath the surface. We explore the emerging science behind the blood-brain barrier, a protective system that shields your brain from inflammation, toxins, and immune activity in the rest of the body. When this barrier is functioning well, your brain operates with clarity and stability. But when it becomes compromised, it may allow inflammatory signals, immune activity, and metabolic stress to affect cognitive function, potentially contributing to brain fog, fatigue, mood changes, and long-term cognitive decline.02:00 — Why the brain is different from the rest of the body06:10 — What is the blood-brain barrier? (Your brain's protection system)08:20 — The 3 main pathways to brain inflammation11:55 — A “leaky brain” barrier matters more than you think14:30 — What weakens the blood-brain barrier17:10 — Can the blood-brain barrier heal? 3 mechanisms of support21:20 — Gut health, gluten & molecular mimicry explainedRESOURCES: Grab all the links and resources mentioned in this episode at https://www.nicolegoodehealth.com/the-goode-health-podcast/episode-129DISCLAIMER: The content in this podcast and related website is not intended to be a substitute for medical advice. Welche Risikogruppen sollten genauer hinschauen? Und wann kann eine Supplementierung sinnvoll sein? HEALTH NERDS. Mensch, einfach erklärt. Is Functional Medicine truly addressing the root causes of Chronic Illness or has it started falling into the same symptom-focused patterns as conventional healthcare? In this episode of the Health Detective Podcast, Michele Scarlet sits down with Reed Davis, founder of Functional Diagnostic Nutrition (FDN), to explore the philosophy, principles, and clinical framework that have helped thousands of practitioners and clients uncover the hidden stressors behind chronic health challenges. Drawing on nearly three decades of experience, Reed shares how FDN was created to focus on Root Cause Healing rather than diagnoses, symptoms, or condition-specific protocols. He explains why so many people continue to struggle with Gut Health issues, Hormone Imbalance, Burnout, Brain Fog, Anxiety, fatigue, and other chronic symptoms despite being told their labs are “normal.” Together, Michele and Reed discuss the concept of Metabolic Chaos, the limitations of both conventional and Functional Medicine models, and why lasting Health Transformation requires looking at the whole person rather than isolated symptoms. You'll learn: What Metabolic Chaos really means and why it matters Why hidden stressors are often the true drivers of chronic symptoms How Functional Lab Testing helps identify healing opportunities The FDN D.R.E.S.S. framework: Diet, Rest, Exercise, Stress Reduction, and Supplementation Why supplements should support not replace the foundations of health Reed's perspective on peptides, biohacking, detox protocols, and wellness trends The role of Natural Healing, Functional Wellness, and Holistic Health in long-term outcomes Why practitioners must focus on healing principles rather than chasing symptoms Reed also shares how FDN evolved into a global Practitioner Training program and why Health Coaches, Functional Health Practitioners, alternative medicine practitioners, and wellness professionals are increasingly seeking a more comprehensive approach to helping clients achieve better outcomes. Whether you're working to improve your own health or exploring a future as an FDN Practitioner, this episode offers a powerful look at the framework, mindset, and healing principles that continue to define Functional Diagnostic Nutrition. If you're passionate about Functional Health, Root Cause Health, Practitioner Education, Functional Diagnostics, and helping people create lasting change, this conversation is one you won't want to miss.

What if your chronic pain, migraines, anxiety, fatigue, IBS, or other persistent symptoms aren't permanent at all? In this fascinating conversation, Dr. Mariza sits down with Dr. Howard Schubiner, physician, researcher, and leading expert in neuroplastic symptoms, to explore a groundbreaking approach that is helping people reverse chronic pain and other conditions long considered lifelong and irreversible. Dr. Schubiner explains how the brain creates pain as a protective danger signal, why emotional injuries can activate the same neural pathways as physical injuries, and how unresolved trauma, chronic stress, adverse childhood experiences, and self-silencing can contribute to chronic symptoms years or even decades later. Together, they discuss the growing body of research around neuroplastic pain, the connection between emotions and physical symptoms, and why many people continue suffering despite normal scans, medications, and conventional treatments. Dr. Mariza also shares her own experience with chronic migraines, leading to a powerful live demonstration of how pain reprocessing techniques can begin shifting the brain's expectations and neural patterns in real time. This conversation offers hope for anyone who has been told they simply need to manage their symptoms for the rest of their life. HOWARD SCHUBINER Dr. Howard Schubiner is a physician, researcher, educator, and one of the leading voices in the field of neuroplastic symptoms. He is the author of Unlearn Your Pain and has spent decades helping patients recover from chronic pain, migraines, fibromyalgia, IBS, anxiety, chronic fatigue, and other conditions through evidence-based approaches rooted in neuroscience, emotional processing, and neuroplasticity. IN THIS EPISODE What neuroplastic symptoms are and why they are often misunderstood How childhood experiences, trauma, and chronic stress can contribute to chronic pain Why migraines, IBS, fibromyalgia, anxiety, and fatigue may share similar brain-based mechanisms The powerful connection between emotions and physical symptoms How pain reprocessing therapy helps retrain the brain's danger signals Why self-silencing and people-pleasing often show up in women with chronic symptoms The role of emotional awareness and expression in healing A live demonstration of changing neural pathways through visualization and safety signals QUOTES“Pain can be a message that our brain sends.” “Emotional injury causes the same parts of the brain to light up as physical injury.” “Chronic pain is not necessarily a life sentence.” RESOURCES MENTIONED Use code ENERGIZED and get 30% off on your first BATCH order http://hellobatch.com/ENERGIZED Get your copy of Dr. Howard Schubiner Newest Book now https://www.amazon.com/Unlearn-Your-Pain-Recovering-Depression/ Unlearn Your Pain Website The Association for the Treatment of Neuroplastic Symptoms (ATNS) Howard Schubiner Instagram Howard Schubiner Facebook RELATED EPISODES 751: Bloating, Brain Fog & Hormone Chaos? What if the foods marketed as “healthy” are actually contributing to the very symptoms so many women are struggling with today? In this eye-opening conversation, Dr. Mariza sits down with Julia Putzeys, certified Nutritional Therapy Practitioner and founder of the Trash Panda app, to expose the hidden reality of ultra-processed foods and how they impact energy, hormones, metabolism, mood, inflammation, and long-term health. Together, they unpack the confusing world of food marketing, ingredient labels, food additives, artificial flavors, seed oils, and the growing prevalence of ultra-processed foods in the modern food supply. Julia shares her own journey from believing she was eating healthy to discovering how many seemingly nutritious products were filled with ingredients that offered little nourishment and often contributed to poor health outcomes. They also discuss the powerful mindset shift from calorie counting and restriction toward nourishment, nutrient density, and real food. As mothers, both Dr. Mariza and Julia share practical strategies for helping children develop a healthier relationship with food while avoiding the traps of hyper-palatable, addictive processed products. She described feeling disoriented, disconnected, and unable to fully process what was happening around her, and if you've ever felt that way during a migraine, I want you to know there's a reason for it. I explain the two major things I believe are often at play here: underlying metabolic waste and toxin overload in the body, and a form of dissociation that can develop when someone has been living with pain for a very long time. What if the key to better energy, faster recovery, sharper focus, and healthier aging has been hiding in the smallest molecule on Earth? Greg 'The Hydrogen Man' and I uncover why TRUE hydrogen water is becoming one of the biggest breakthroughs in wellness, performance, and cellular health. Unlike ordinary water, molecular hydrogen works at the cellular level—helping combat oxidative stress, support mitochondrial function, reduce inflammation, and optimize overall vitality. But here's the catch… not all hydrogen water is created equal. Many products on the market lose potency quickly or fail to deliver therapeutic levels of hydrogen. So what makes TRUE hydrogen water different? If you've been struggling with fatigue, brain fog, poor recovery, low energy, or accelerated aging, this episode could completely change the way you think about hydration and health.Supplements Featured In This Episode:• Acceleradine® Iodine https://www.acceleratedhealthproducts.com/products/acceleradine-iodine-supplement • Accelerated Methylene Blue® https://www.acceleratedhealthproducts.com/products/accelerated-methylene-blue-supplement Not sure what food to eat and avoid? “What if your bloating, fatigue, brain fog, anxiety, stubborn weight gain, and hormone symptoms are actually starting in your gut?” In this episode, Dr. Mariza sits down with Dr. Cassie Smith — dual board-certified endocrinologist, founder of Modern Endocrine, and author of Fix Your Gut, Fix Your Hormones — to unpack the powerful connection between gut health, hormone balance, stress, metabolism, inflammation, and reproductive health. Together, they dive into how chronic stress, poor gut health, blood sugar dysregulation, inflammation, and lifestyle overload silently impact everything from cortisol and insulin to estrogen, progesterone, thyroid function, and fertility. Dr. Cassie explains why so many women are told their labs are “normal” while still feeling exhausted, bloated, anxious, inflamed, and disconnected from their bodies — and why gut dysfunction is often the missing piece conventional medicine overlooks. They also explore the growing metabolic and hormonal crisis happening in younger women, the connection between PCOS, insulin resistance, gut dysfunction, and birth control, and why many women are struggling to restore healthy cycles and fertility later in life. This conversation is a powerful reminder that hormones do not work in isolation. Your gut, nervous system, metabolism, sleep, stress resilience, and hormones are all deeply interconnected. If you've been feeling like your body is trying to tell you something but nobody has connected the dots yet, this episode will help you understand where healing truly begins. DR. CASSIE SMITH Dr. Cassie Smith is a dual board-certified endocrinologist and the founder of Modern Endocrine. After becoming frustrated with the limitations of conventional medicine, she built a practice focused on uncovering the root causes behind hormone dysfunction, metabolic issues, fertility struggles, and gut-related symptoms. She is also the author of the book Fix Your Gut, Fix Your Hormones. IN THIS EPISODE Why chronic stress has such a powerful impact on gut health and hormones How gut dysfunction contributes to fatigue, brain fog, bloating, anxiety, and weight resistance The connection between estrogen decline, microbiome diversity, and inflammation Why insulin resistance and metabolic dysfunction are rising in younger women The hidden relationship between PCOS, gut health, cortisol, and fertility Why birth control is often used as a Band-Aid instead of addressing root causes The foundational lifestyle habits that support gut and hormone healing Why slowing down, resting, and reducing nervous system overload matters for recovery QUOTES “Your hormones are doing the best they can in the environment you give them.” “It doesn't matter how many supplements or hormones we throw at you if the foundations aren't in place.” “Your gut is where all healing begins.” “Your body cannot heal in survival mode.” RESOURCES MENTIONED Get your “Fix Your Gut, Fix Your Hormones” Book by Dr. Cassie Smith https://guthormonefix.com/ Order my newest book: The Perimenopause Revolution https://peri-revolution.com/ Modern Endocrine Website Modern Endocrine Instagram Modern Endocrine Facebook Modern Endocrine Tiktok Modern Endocrine Youtube Hormones, Metabolism and You PodcastThe Menopause Gut Book by Cynthia Thurlow RELATED EPISODES 741: Estrogen, Gut Health, Mitochondria, and Cardiovascular Health: What Changes In Perimenopause with Dr. Siobhan Mitchel 743: Why Your Heart Risk Changes in Menopause (And What You Can Do About It) with Dr. Jayne Morgan 738: The Hidden Link Between Inflammation, Hormones & Fertility with Dr. Natalie Crawford 740: Why You're Bloated, Gaining Weight & Feeling Off in Menopause (It Starts in Your Gut) with Cynthia Thurlow
Is your brain accumulating toxins that are stealing your focus, memory, and mental clarity without you even knowing it? Research shows that heavy metals enter the brain by hijacking your own mineral pathways, a process known as ionic mimicry. And most people have no idea it's happening. I sit down with Clark Engelbert to break down exactly how metals like aluminum, lead, cadmium, and mercury cross the blood-brain barrier and what they do to the brain. Clark shares current research on aluminum in postmortem autistic and Alzheimer's brains and explains why mineral deficiency opens the door to metal toxicity. His client results speak for themselves: nonverbal autistic kids going verbal, ADHD symptoms reduced, panic disorder resolved, bone density improved, all through mineral balancing and HTMA. If brain fog, memory loss, or cognitive decline concerns you, this episode will reframe your approach to reclaiming your brain's health. "Everyone is subclinically toxic in metals. It doesn't really matter who you are, where you live, or your stage of life. If you're eating well, exercising, taking supplements, and still don't feel like yourself, your nervous system may be stuck in survival mode. Most people assume low energy means they need more discipline, another supplement, or the latest health hack. But what if the real problem isn't effort at all? Studies estimate that over 70% of primary care visits are linked to stress-related disorders. At the same time, mitochondrial dysfunction is increasingly recognized as a contributor to fatigue, poor recovery, and reduced resilience. In this episode of Uncover Your Eyes, Dr. Meenal Agarwal sits down with Dr. Scott Sherr, a Physician who specializes in health optimization medicine. They explore the connection between chronic stress, nervous system dysregulation, and cellular energy production. Together, they discuss hyperbaric oxygen therapy, methylene blue, and practical strategies to improve recovery and performance. In this episode, you'll uncover:

I lived with severe brain fog for 15 years. I couldn't focus, my words didn't come easily, and I spent a fortune trying to fix it from the top down...little worked until I realized the problem wasn't in my head—it was in my feet.In this video, I break down the scientifically proven connection between your feet, your circulation, and your cognitive decline. We cover how your brain requires a massive 20% of your body's oxygen to function, and why sitting at a desk all day weakens the calf muscles that act as a "second heart" to pump that oxygenated blood back up to your skull. I also explain how modern cushioned shoes act as sensory deprivation chambers, muffling the critical signals your feet send to your brain. This sensory lack forces your nervous system into a constant, low-level survival state that completely kills your executive function. You don't need another brain supplement to get your mental edge back. You need to fix your foundation. I share the exact barefoot walking and foot-strengthening protocols I used to lift the fog and restore my cognitive sharpness.Thank you to our sponsors!Suppgrade Labs | Grab your DAKE and Minerals 101 duo at shopsuppgradelabs.com and use code DAVEPOD for 15% off todayEssentia | Go to https://myessentia.com/daveand use code DAVE for $100 off The Dave Asprey Upgrade.iRestore | Reverse hair loss at www.irestore.com/DAVE and get exclusive savings on the iRestore Elite, use code DAVETimestamps:00:00 – Personal Experience00:47 – Root Cause: Not in Your Head01:05 – Blood Flow and Brain Function02:10 – The Calf Pump03:52 – Foot Sensory Signals04:26 – Nervous System Impact06:22 – How to Fix It07:51 – Personal ResultsConnect with Dave Asprey!Website: https://daveasprey.comTikTok: https://www.tiktok.com/@daveaspreyofficialInstagram: https://www.instagram.com/dave.asprey/Facebook: https://www.facebook.com/Daveaspreyofficial/X: https://x.com/daveaspreyYouTube: https://www.youtube.com/c/daveaspreybprThe Human Upgrade Podcast: https://www.instagram.com/TheHumanUpgradePodcast/ https://m.facebook.com/Thehumanupgrade/Danger Coffee: https://dangercoffee.com/DAVE15Dave Asprey's BEYOND Conference: https://beyondconference.com/Dave Asprey's New Book - Heavily Meditated: https://daveasprey.com/heavily-meditated/Dave's favorite supplements: https://www.shopsuppgradelabs.com/discount/DAVE15Upgrade Labs: https://upgradelabs.com40 Years of Zen: https://40yearsofzen.comSee Privacy Policy at https://art19.com/privacy and California Privacy Notice at https://art19.com/privacy#do-not-sell-my-info.
As You Wish Talk Radio with James Gilliland UFOs/UAPs, Daviid Wilcock, Frequency Medicine, Advanced Et's, Avoid The Failed Disclosure Frequency Medicine, Toxic Exposure, UFO Disclosure, and Staying Healthy in a Changing World James Gilliland Opens with Solar Activity and Global Upheaval In this episode of As You Wish Talk Radio, produced by the ECETI group, host James Gilliland opens with a broad update on solar, geopolitical, spiritual, and UFO-related events. James says the Sun is showing no sign of calming down and connects solar activity with severe weather, earthquakes, volcanic activity, and broader planetary shifts. James frames these events as part of a larger energetic and planetary transition, while also commenting on global conflicts, underground facilities, political corruption, and what he sees as widening exposure of hidden systems. James Critiques the UFO/UAP Community and Calls for Integrity Much of the opening monologue focuses on James's concern that the UFO and UAP communities have become compromised by jealousy, competition, gossip, controlled narratives, and attacks on authentic contact work. He strongly criticizes what he describes as backstabbing, character assassination, and the spreading of meritless rumors, particularly in relation to attacks on David Wilcock, Corey Goode, ECETI, and himself. James argues that spiritually and technologically advanced off-world beings will not engage with a community dominated by ego, deception, and lack of integrity. He calls for accountability, de-escalation, apologies, and a shift away from what he sees as entertainment-driven disclosure toward genuine spiritual and ethical preparation for contact. Introducing Gail and Rebecca and the Topic of Frequency Healing After the monologue, James brings on two guests, Gail and Rebecca, whom he describes as knowledgeable in frequency healing, new technologies, and the challenge of staying healthy in a toxic world. He says he has personally received treatments from them that felt miraculous and explains that he wanted to promote their work because people are being bombarded by toxic food, chemtrails, harmful frequencies, environmental contamination, and other stressors. The conversation then turns toward energy medicine, Rife technology, biofield measurement, detoxification, and the need for people to reclaim responsibility for their own wellness. Gail's Nursing Background and Biofield Work Gail explains that she became a nurse at a young age, later became a nurse practitioner, and eventually earned advanced degrees while pursuing a deep interest in healing. She says her direction changed after encountering the work of Donna Eden, which introduced her to energy medicine and the world of frequency. Gail describes studying integrative and pastoral health, remote viewing, and other healing-related fields. She also explains her use of a Bio-Well camera, which photographs the fingertips to produce information about the human biofield, aura integrity, meridians, chakras, and energetic balance. Gail says the goal is not merely to measure energy, but to help identify areas where balance may be needed. The Pearl Device, Rife Frequencies, and Remote Healing Gail also discusses a device called the Pearl, which she says stands for Photon Emission Resonant Light and uses Rife frequencies. She explains that the device can project frequencies into a room through an argon gas tube or work directly with a person through electrodes. Gail says she has used it in both in-person and remote healing contexts and believes it can affect people, animals, and plants. She describes herself as a science-oriented person who enjoys combining research, personal experience, and spiritual guidance to understand how frequency-based tools may help support healing and balance. Rebecca's Medical Background and Her Shift Away from Conventional Practice Rebecca shares that she worked as a physical therapist for about 30 years, mainly with children. She says that over time, especially from the early to late 1990s, she observed a shift in her caseload toward more children with autism and began questioning patterns she saw in developmental changes. Rebecca discusses her concerns about childhood injections, pharmaceutical influence, and the way families outsource health decisions to external authorities. She explains that after 2020, she no longer wanted to work in the conventional medical system and eventually turned toward Rife technology and natural healing approaches. F-Scan, Rife Technology, Detox Pathways, and Pathogens Rebecca explains that she uses an F-Scan device from Switzerland and describes it as having a broad range of frequencies. She says Rife technology works by sending specific frequencies that resonate with pathogens, using the analogy of an opera singer shattering a glass by matching its resonant frequency. She emphasizes that opening detoxification pathways is just as important as targeting pathogens, including support for the skin, liver, kidneys, and other systems. Rebecca says environmental toxins from air, food, water, and chemtrails can burden the body, and she discusses the importance of herbs, homeopathics, and natural support for detoxification. James's Experience with Brain Fog and Frequency Treatments James shares that he personally experienced significant brain fog and memory recall issues, including difficulty remembering the names of people he knew well. He connects this to possible pathogens, mold exposure, black mold, solar activity, and environmental stress. After receiving frequency treatments, he says the names and memories began returning quickly, which impressed him. Rebecca responds that one of the effects people may notice after a session is feeling better quickly, and the group contrasts this with pharmaceutical advertisements that list long side effects while presenting an appealing lifestyle image. Fear, Authenticity, Intuition, and Service Gail and Rebecca both connect frequency medicine with broader spiritual themes. Rebecca says fear is one of the lowest emotional frequencies and argues that fear has long been used to make people outsource their power. Gail says integrity and authenticity are among the highest frequencies and explains that part of their upcoming workshop will include developing intuition and using inner guidance as a tool for discernment. James adds that kindness, service, humor, and living from the heart are essential, saying people should begin by being decent human beings rather than chasing spiritual titles or guru status. Toxic Food, Mold, Heavy Metals, and the Need for Discernment The discussion also covers processed foods, mold, yeast, fungus, heavy metals, citric acid, genetically modified mold, and the possibility that toxins in food and the environment are contributing to health challenges. Rebecca says she is seeing significant mold-related patterns even in people without obvious mold exposure and suspects food may be one source. James adds that boxes, labels, and food weights can be misleading and criticizes processed foods as nutritionally poor and potentially damaging. The speakers encourage listeners to use discernment, question what they are told, and recognize the body as a frequency-based system rather than only a physical machine. Upcoming ECETI Workshop and Closing Invitation Near the end, James asks about Gail and Rebecca's upcoming event, which they identify as taking place the last weekend of July, around July 24–26. James says the event will offer practical information, healing technologies, and the opportunity to be at ECETI, where attendees may also experience UFO sightings, higher-dimensional beings, or spontaneous energetic shifts. He also mentions future interest in alternative healing technologies, including medbed-related discussions, while cautioning that some tools may be genuine and others may be scams. The episode closes with James thanking Gail and Rebecca for their work, encouraging listeners to keep an open mind, loving heart, and pure intent, and reminding them to stay alert amid confusion in the UFO field.
We talk a lot about hormones in midlife, hot flashes, weight gain, sleep issues, low libido. But one of the biggest complaints I hear from women is actually about their brain. The brain fog. The anxiety that comes out of nowhere. The flat motivation. The unpredictable sleep. The feeling that you just do not feel like yourself anymore. And for a lot of women, that is the part that feels the most unsettling. In this episode, I sit down with Dr. Scott Sherr to go much deeper into what may actually be happening underneath those symptoms. We talk about mitochondria, brain energy, neurotransmitters, methylene blue, nitric oxide, GABA, glutamate, and even nicotine, and how all of these may play a role in the way the midlife brain feels and functions. This is one of those conversations that helps connect the dots between hormones and everything else that is happening in the brain and nervous system during this transition. If you have been feeling mentally flat, overstimulated, exhausted, or like your brain has changed in ways no one can fully explain, this conversation is going to open up a whole new lens on what may be going on. In this episode, we cover: Why brain fog is such a common midlife complaint What mitochondria actually are and why they matter for brain energy How estrogen loss may contribute to mitochondrial dysfunction How methylene blue may support mitochondria, energy production, and mental clarity The difference between low-dose and high-dose methylene blue use The truth about methylene blue and nitric oxide Why GABA, glutamate, progesterone, magnesium, and B6 matter for the midlife brain How stress and sympathetic overload affect mood, sleep, and focus Why nicotine is being explored for cognition, brain inflammation, and vagus nerve support Why HRT may help, but may not be the whole story for every woman Who this episode is for This episode is for women in perimenopause and menopause who are dealing with brain fog, anxiety, fatigue, poor motivation, sleep disruption, feeling overstimulated, or simply not feeling like themselves anymore. It is especially for women who want to understand what may be happening beyond hormones alone and are curious about the role of mitochondrial health, brain energy, and neurotransmitters in midlife symptoms. Dr. Sherr is a board-certified internal medicine physician and a specialist in Hyperbaric Oxygen Therapy. He's the COO of Troscriptions, a company developing physician-formulated buccal troches designed to support things like energy, focus, sleep, and stress resilience using compounds like methylene blue and other novel ingredients. “What if the exhaustion, brain fog, low libido, and metabolic changes women experience in midlife are actually rooted in a deeper cellular energy crisis?” In this episode, Dr. Mariza sits down with Dr. Andrew Salzman — physician, inventor, biochemical engineer, and Chief Scientific Officer of Wonderfeel — to unpack the powerful connection between NAD, mitochondrial health, inflammation, ovarian aging, gut integrity, nitric oxide, and the dramatic energy shifts women experience during perimenopause and menopause. Dr. Salzman explains why menopause represents a major biological inflection point for women and how declining NAD levels may be contributing to fatigue, brain fog, poor recovery, metabolic dysfunction, sleep issues, reduced stress resilience, cardiovascular changes, and shifts in sexual health. Together, they explore the evolutionary role of menopause, why ovarian senescence accelerates aging pathways, how inflammation and the enzyme CD38 rapidly deplete NAD stores, and why the gut microbiome may be one of the biggest drivers of inflammation and energy decline in modern women. They also dive into nitric oxide production, cardiovascular health, the brain's dependence on NAD for sleep and cognitive function, and why ingredients like NMN and creatine are gaining attention for supporting healthy aging and resilience in midlife. If you've ever looked in the mirror and thought, “I don't feel like myself anymore,” this conversation will help connect the dots between your symptoms, your mitochondria, and your long-term vitality. ANDREW SALZMAN Dr. Andrew Salzman is a physician, inventor, biochemical engineer, and the Chief Scientific Officer of Wonderfeel. With more than 30 years of experience in drug discovery and development, over 170 scientific publications, and more than 50 patents, Dr. Salzman has spent decades studying aging biology, inflammation, cellular resilience, nitric oxide signaling, and mitochondrial health IN THIS EPISODE Why menopause is a major biological inflection point for women How declining NAD levels impact energy, metabolism, sleep, and brain function Why CD38 accelerates inflammation and NAD depletion during aging The surprising connection between gut health, inflammation, and menopause symptoms How estrogen decline contributes to leaky gut and systemic inflammation Why nitric oxide is essential for circulation, libido, cardiovascular health, and cognition The role of NAD in circadian rhythm, sleep quality, and stress resilience Why NMN and creatine are gaining attention for healthy aging and vitality QUOTES“Menopause will happen, but the question is: how do we maintain vibrancy and resilience through it?” “NAD is the common currency that drives energy throughout the body.” “The gut is the foundational driver of inflammation as we age.” “Without NADPH, you don't have nitric oxide production.” RESOURCES MENTIONED Subscribe and Save $15 on Wonderfeel Youngr™ NMN: https://tidd.ly/4rPnckS Use code ENERGIZED and get 30% off on your first BATCH order https://hellobatch.com/ENERGIZED Order my newest book: The Perimenopause Revolution https://peri-revolution.com/ Wonderfeel Website Wonderfeel Instagram Wonderfeel YouTube RELATED EPISODES 741: Estrogen, Gut Health, Mitochondria, and Cardiovascular Health: What Changes In Perimenopause with Dr. Siobhan Mitchel 691: The Fertility Crisis No One Talks About: Why Your Health Today Impacts Future Generations with Dr. Ann Shippy 717: “I Don't Feel Like Myself Anymore”: The Mental & Emotional Reality of Perimenopause 743: Why Your Heart Risk Changes in Menopause (And What You Can Do About It) with Dr. Jayne Morgan
If you have Hashimoto's and have been told your blood sugar is "borderline" or "fine for now," this conversation will change how you think about it. Inna sits down with Dr. Jason Shumard, a functional medicine practitioner with more than two decades of experience in diabetes and insulin resistance, to unpack why blood sugar troubles and thyroid autoimmunity so often travel together. The surprising takeaway is that elevated blood sugar usually isn't a sugar problem at all. It's a signal that something has gone wrong at the level of the cell, and chasing the number alone tends to leave the real issue untouched.Dr. Jason walks through what's actually happening when insulin can no longer do its job, and why the receptors on your cells stop responding in the first place. He explains the role that hidden drivers like infections, mold, heavy metals, chronic inflammation and everyday stress play in keeping the cycle going, and why these overlap so heavily with the same triggers behind Hashimoto's. He and Inna also dig into the lab markers worth paying attention to beyond a basic glucose reading, the optimal ranges he looks for, and the simple ratio already sitting on most standard bloodwork that can flag insulin resistance early. The discussion gets especially practical around carbohydrates, GLP-1 medications, and the idea of cycling rather than relying on any single tool forever. Dr. Jason offers a refreshingly balanced view, neither demonizing carbs nor treating medications as a permanent fix, and shares why restoring true cellular function is what allows so many people to move toward remission. It's an honest, hopeful look at a topic that affects far more people with thyroid issues than most realize, and a reminder that the body is often far more capable of healing than we've been led to believe. For full show notes, please see: https://innatopiler.com/podcasts/lowering-blood-sugar-insulin-resistance-hashimotos-dr-jason-shumard/Get ThyroLove - the first all in one bottle multi-nutrient comprehensive formula designed specifically for those with Thyroid Autoimmunity at ThyroLove.com - use code “Podcast” to get 10% off and free shipping If you are struggling to lose weight with Hashimoto's, Inna has a 10 day plan just for you at InnaTopiler.com/jumpstartIf you need help with fatigue or brain fog with Hashimoto's, please check out Inna's 9 Day Exhaustion Solution at innatopiler.com/energyIf you don't yet know your thyroid type, please be sure you sign up for Inna's next free training at InnaTopiler.com/zoomcallFor more information about everything Hashimoto's please visit InnaTopiler.com Get ThyroLove - use code “Podcast” to get 10% off and free shipping
Can nervous system regulation help chronic fatigue syndrome (CFS) and long COVID symptoms like brain fog, crashes, and fatigue? What if the root issue is a hypersensitive nervous system stuck in survival mode rather than another protocol you need to stack? On this episode of the She Talks Health Podcast, I sat down with Miguel Bautista, founder of CFS Recovery, to talk about nervous system-driven chronic conditions and why “doing more” can backfire when your system is already overwhelmed. Miguel shared his personal recovery story from years of escalating symptoms, being bedridden and then hospitalized, and the turning point when a doctor finally explained that his symptoms weren't random, but signals from a nervous system on high alert. We talked about how long COVID, chronic fatigue syndrome, and fibromyalgia can look incredibly similar, often differing mainly by the trigger, and why trying to overdo recovery can actually flare symptoms even more. Miguel explained the “nervous system threshold” idea, when life stressors, perfectionism, and self-pressure max out your capacity, your body starts sending louder signals to force a slowdown. We also unpacked why your response to symptoms matters so much for nervous system regulation. Fear, frustration, and catastrophic thinking can fuel the same loop that keeps symptoms going — and that's why we always say to stop obsessively Googling your symptoms! We also discussed how recovery becomes more predictable through education, stopping the cycle of obsessive symptom tracking, and gradually building physical, cognitive, and emotional capacity through repeatable “progress cycles.” If you've been dealing with chronic fatigue, a dysregulated nervous system, chronic stress, or any symptom that has you feeling stuck with no clear answers, this episode will shed so much light on what could possibly going on. I hope this episode points you toward chronic fatigue recovery and a more symptom-free future. Disclaimer: This information is being provided to you for educational and informational purposes only. We describe how these sensations can appear during everyday situations, how they can quickly trigger fear, and how that fear can intensify the symptoms. We explain some possible physical causes of anxiety-related dizziness, especially changes in breathing. When we breathe faster and more shallowly, carbon dioxide levels can drop, which may lead to lightheadedness, tingling, feeling unreal, chest tightness, unsteadiness, vision changes, or brain fog.We also discuss other contributors, including muscle tension in the neck, shoulders, jaw, and scalp, as well as blood sugar swings, dehydration, sleep deprivation, overstimulation, and caffeine or other stimulants. We note that these sensations are real, but they are often linked to a dysregulated nervous system rather than a medical emergency. We then share practical ways to help the body feel steadier: gentle diaphragmatic breathing, movement such as walking or stretching, meditation or quiet nervous system rest, reducing overall nervous system load, and paying attention to triggers like caffeine and lack of sleep. We also emphasize using non-catastrophic self-talk during symptoms. We close by encouraging patience and self-compassion, noting that recovery often happens gradually as the nervous system learns safety again.#AnxietyDizziness #Lightheadedness #AnxietySymptoms #PanicAttackRelief #AnxietyLoop #FightOrFlight #PhysicalAnxiety #Derealization #OvercomingPanic #AnxietyIsReal #AnxietySupport #NervousSystemRegulation #VagusNerve #SomaticHealing #CalmYourNervousSystem #NervousSystemHealing #BodyMindConnection #BreathworkForAnxiety #DiaphragmaticBreathing #SomaticAwareness #AnxietyRecovery #HolisticHealing #StressReduction #CaffeineFree #BloodSugarBalance #MindfulMovement #SleepDeprivation #DigitalDetox #Overstimulation #CalmTheMind #MindfulSelfTalk #SelfCompassion #MindfulnessPractice #AnxietyCoaching #MentalHealthMatters #InnerPeace #HealingIsLinear #AnxietyCoachesPodcast #GinaRyan #YouAreNotAloneSee Privacy Policy at https://art19.com/privacy and California Privacy Notice at https://art19.com/privacy#do-not-sell-my-info.

The Hidden Causes of Brain Fog, Anxiety, and Chronic Illness: Mold, Parasites, Histamine, and Low Cortisol If you're exhausted, inflamed, and can't figure out why, the answer might be hiding in your histamine, your hormones, your home, or something living inside you that your doctor will never test for. Watch this episode on YouTube for the full video experience: https://www.youtube.com/@DaveAspreyBPR Host Dave Asprey sits down with Dr. Jessica Peatross, a former hospitalist turned functional medicine powerhouse who walked away from a conventional medical career after discovering that 90% of disease traces back to lifestyle, environment, and the toxins most doctors ignore. After graduating magna cum laude and earning her medical degree from the University of Louisville, Dr. Jess pursued training in functional medicine, nutrigenomics, and alternative therapies, and now helps thousands of patients reverse chronic illness through her KillBindSweat method and WellnessPlus app. She is also the formulator and CMO of Aegis Formulas and a leading voice at international health conferences. If chronic illness, mold toxicity, or hormonal chaos is on your radar, she is the person you want in your corner. Together, Dave and Dr. Jess go deep into the hidden drivers of mystery symptoms that functional medicine is finally starting to crack open. They cover why low cortisol is more dangerous than high cortisol, how histamine and mast cell activation syndrome explain everything from anxiety and brain fog to endometriosis and POTS, and why most "Lyme disease" is actually undiagnosed mold toxicity. They also break down the parasite epidemic hiding in plain sight across the United States, the B vitamin mistake making millions of people sicker, and why your metabolism, mitochondria, and mental health are all downstream of things your standard lab panel will never catch. This episode also gets into the real story behind Dr. Jess surrendering her California medical license rather than comply with a system she believed was working against patient health. Her firsthand account of the medical board process is something every person who cares about medical freedom needs to hear. After collapsing outside her own hospital from extreme fatigue, Dr. Khan was ultimately forced to leave clinical anesthesia and spend months bedridden, confronting the very medical system she once served from the other side of the white coat. What unfolds is a rare and intimate look at long COVID through both the physician's lens and the patient's lived experience — and an honest conversation about how chronic illness can unravel careers, identities, relationships, and the illusion of control.Together, we explore the complex realities of long COVID symptoms, including crushing fatigue, respiratory complications, sudden asthma, dizziness, heart rate and blood pressure fluctuations linked to dysautonomia, and the cognitive dysfunction often referred to as “brain fog.” Dr. Khan also explains why many patients never received a confirmed positive COVID test — and why that should never invalidate the severity of their symptoms or disability. For women navigating midlife health changes, unexplained exhaustion, burnout, hormonal shifts, or prolonged recovery after illness, this episode offers both validation and language for experiences that are too often dismissed. We also dive into the complicated dynamics of the doctor-patient relationship: why medical appointments can feel intimidating, how systemic pressures affect who gets believed, and why so many patients walk away feeling unheard or gaslit. Dr. Khan shares practical, patient-centered strategies for advocating for yourself within a fragmented healthcare system — including symptom tracking, prioritizing the most disruptive issues first, and creating a trusted primary care “home base” to help coordinate care across specialties. This is more than a conversation about long COVID. It's a conversation about resilience, identity, chronic illness, medical advocacy, and what happens when high-achieving people are forced to redefine health, productivity, and worth. If this episode resonates with you, subscribe to the podcast, share it with someone who may need support, and leave a review to help more people searching for long COVID resources, chronic illness validation, and patient advocacy find this conversation.Bio Dr Zeest Khan is a Stanford-trained anesthesiologist who specializes in open-heart surgery. She developed long COVID after working on the front lines of the pandemic in 2020, and was bed-bound for nearly a year. She thought her doctors would help her, but they were confused, too. So she started approaching her own health the way she cared for her complex and critically ill patients in the operating room: by making one scary decision at a time. After falling for a couple of medical scams, she realized how vulnerable people with chronic illness are, and started a podcast to help combat medical misinformation. Most of us don't think about brain health until something goes wrong. We think it's normal to experience brain fog or we just accept cognitive decline is inevitable as we age. Science shows you can physically change your brain at any age. You can grow new neurons, build stronger connections, and even shrink your risk of Alzheimer's — and it doesn't require anything mysterious or extreme. My guest is Dr. Majid Fotuhi, a renowned neurologist and one of the world's leading experts in brain health. He received his MD from Harvard Medical School and his PhD in Neuroscience from Johns Hopkins University School of Medicine, where he now serves as an adjunct professor at the Mind/Brain Institute. He's also the author of the new book The Invincible Brain. Some of the things we discuss are: Why your brain is an organ you can care for like your teeth or your heart — not a mysterious black box you're stuck with The 12-week brain fitness study that showed older adults physically grew their brains by 1–3%, making them up to three years younger on an MRI Why genetics play a surprisingly small role in late-life Alzheimer's — and how exercise can cancel out the effects of the highest-risk gene The exact amount of exercise that strengthens your brain (and why doing more than this won't help) Why sleep is an active brain-cleaning process — and what 20+ years of insomnia does to the memory center of your brain The one rule about food Dr. Fotuhi cares about more than keto vs. Mediterranean vs. vegetarian How chronic stress physically shrinks your brain, plus the perspective shift his daughter learned that keeps her calm under pressure Simple daily ways to challenge your brain — from memorizing names to license plates in traffic The Therapist's Take: My top three strategies for building a physically stronger, younger brain starting today Related Episodes 91 — The Biggest Threats to Your Brain Health and the Lifestyle Changes You Should Make Today to Stay Sharp with Dr. Austin Perlmutter 212 — What Are You Feeding Your Brain? Hey friend, Is there a 2:47pm version of you who can't read the same email three times without forgetting what it said? Have you reached for the second coffee and felt almost nothing — except more tired an hour later? Have you wondered why caffeine isn't fixing your fatigue the way it used to? I'm Ashley — a mom living with chronic illness in a neurodivergent family. If you're dealing with constant fatigue, brain fog, inflammation, and broken sleep while trying to keep up with your kids, you're not alone. Chronic Illness Moms is a podcast for moms with chronic illness or chronic symptoms who want stress relief, better sleep, and simple, realistic habits that actually work inside a full, demanding life. There was a stretch where the afternoons were the hardest part of my day. Mornings were okay — by 2 or 3 my brain was completely offline, and I'd reach for the second cup, not because I wanted coffee but because I wanted my brain back. Sometimes it helped for an hour. Sometimes it didn't help at all. In this final episode of the caffeine mini-series I share the thing I didn't know about caffeine for years (it doesn't actually create energy — it borrows it from later), why the afternoon crash isn't random, and a five-minute experiment to try instead of the second cup. Inflammation is tied to some of the biggest health problems in the world — heart disease, diabetes, cancer, autoimmune conditions, gut disorders, brain health issues, fatigue, brain fog, joint pain, mood changes, and more. And one of the best ways to understand what is driving that inflammation may begin in your gut. Dr. Will Bulsiewicz, bestselling author of Fiber Fueled and Plant Powered Plus, joins Chuck Carroll to reveal how the gut microbiome can shape inflammation throughout the body — and what you can do to start reducing inflammation naturally. Dr. B also shares practical steps for people with sensitive stomachs, bloating, IBS, or food intolerances who want to improve gut health without making symptoms worse. This is your gut-first guide to understanding inflammation, identifying what may be driving your symptoms, and taking the first steps toward better health.
