What about wheat sensitivity concerns, even with European-style semolina? And are you missing crucial micronutrients when your fiber comes from grains instead of vegetables? Jenn breaks down whether this high-fiber alternative is truly a win for your health goals or just another processed food in disguise. Like what you're hearing? Most women think brain fog in perimenopause is inevitable. It isn't. In this episode, I explain what's really going on: your brain isn't broken, it's running on empty; and that's a solvable biology problem, not a willpower problem. I break down what happens as estrogen and progesterone fluctuate, how that impacts brain energy, and why symptoms like forgetfulness, poor focus, and “slow-motion thinking” can show up even when you're doing everything right. Then I share four science-backed strategies to rebuild a sharper, more resilient brain—covering nutrition, training for cognitive performance, regulating your mental “gears,” and a practical supplement toolkit to amplify the foundations WHAT YOU'LL LEARN: How blood sugar crashes sabotage cognition (and the breakfast fix) Why protein & healthy fats matter for focus in perimenopause The role of omega-3s (EPA/DHA) in neuroinflammation and clarity Why higher-intensity exercise can improve focus via lactate → BDNF How to use training strategically before deep work or high-stakes meetings The 3 Gears framework for focus, creativity, and stress regulation Why micro-breaks between meetings improve engagement and reduce stress buildup The supplement stack discussed (omega-3s, magnesium forms, ubiquinol/CoQ10, B vitamins) How to start with one change and build momentum without overwhelm TIMESTAMPS 00:00 Brain Fog in Perimenopause: What's Really Going On 02:37 Strategy 1: High-Quality Nutrition 05:25 Strategy 2: Exercise for Focus (Lactate, BDNF & Brain Energy) 08:59 Strategy 3: 3 Gears Framework for Focus & Stress 13:05 Strategy 4: The Supplement Toolkit (What Actually Helps) 17:28 How to Reclaim Your Focus & Energy VALUABLE RESOURCES Join The High Performance Health Community Click here for discounts on all the products I personally use and recommend • Longevity Supplement Masterclass – https://academy.angelafosterperformance.com/longevity-masterclass-27 • Omega-3 Episode featuring Dr. Bill Harris – https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=J42kJPyHPoA A BIG thank you to our sponsors who make the show possible Get 10% off MitoQ NAD+ - www.mitoq.com with code ANGELA Get 35% off Timeline Mitopure by visiting this link while the offer lasts - https://www.timeline.com/promotions/angela35 ABOUT THE HOST Angela Foster is an award winning Nutritionist, Health & Performance Coach, Speaker and Host of the High Performance Health podcast. Can you do all the therapy and still have brain fog? Yes. Can you talk through your past and still have chronic fatigue? Absolutely. Here's the tension. We've been told that processing trauma means talking about it. That resilience means surviving hard things. But what if your body is still holding what your mind thinks it released? I go deeper into this with Marie Demasio in Episode 157. She shared how she'd done so much work after losing her son. She thought she was past it. Then she visited our mutual friend, Dr. Bryce Applebaum. He told her that her vision was a mess. Her brain was inflamed. This was never just about the mind. It's about what the body holds. In this episode you'll hear more about: (01:45) Why brain fog is one of the most common blocks to living from safety. (03:22) What neuroception is and how your body's dashboard works. (04:48) How brain inflammation sends ongoing cues of danger. (06:15) Why dissociation and fog are survival strategies, not dysfunction. (08:30) The cycle of caffeine, sugar, and pushing through brain fog. (10:05) Why I assess brain inflammation first in my program. (11:42) The specific supplements that reduce brain inflammation. The body holds what the mind thinks it released. When we address brain inflammation, we remove a cue of danger. Then the nervous system has a chance to believe it's safe. Before reaching for caffeine or sugar, pause. Ask: "Is my body sending me a danger signal right now?" That awareness is the first step. Leave a review on Apple Podcasts, Spotify, or YouTube. Dr. Josh Redd runs one of the largest autoimmune clinics in the country and has spent 16 years helping patients conventional medicine gave up on. His core insight: inflammation in short bouts is life-saving, but when chronic, it becomes the key driver of nearly all disease. This is the mechanism behind why diets keep failing, gut supplements don't work, and you might feel like you're going crazy when it's actually your brain that's inflamed. Dr. Redd explains why eating less and exercising more can make things worse, how your brain controls your gut (not the reverse), and why "healthy" foods might be fueling your autoimmune fire. Discover: • The $25 inflammation test that reveals whether chronic inflammation is sabotaging your metabolism, brain, and immune system • Why supplements can't outrun a bad diet, and the enzyme inflammation shuts down that makes fat loss nearly impossible • The cortisol steal, and how stress converts reproductive hormones into cortisol, explaining skyrocketing infertility • The brain gut connection doctors miss, and why trauma keeps your gut from working properly • The autoimmune reversal truth, and why Dr. Redd says autoimmune disease is reversible when you address triggers instead of suppressing symptoms • The blue light crisis, and how phone use after 5pm destroys cortisol rhythm, wrecks sleep, and flares autoimmune conditions Find Dr. Josh Redd: Website - https://redriver.health/ Instagram - https://www.instagram.com/drjoshredd/ Book - The Inflammatory Reset My one stop shop for quality supplements: https://theswellscore.com/pages/drg Timestamps: 0:00 - Why inflammation is destroying your health 2:10 - The hidden reason you can't lose weight despite eating less 3:22 - The #1 overlooked trigger for autoimmune disease 7:18 - How Dr. Josh Redd discovered his path to treating autoimmune patients 13:41 - Why 90% of autoimmune disease starts in the gut and liver 15:43 - The brain-gut connection most doctors miss 23:02 - How unresolved trauma keeps your body inflamed 29:32 - Simple $25 blood tests to check your inflammation levels 43:01 - Blue light and phone use: the autoimmune connection 49:19 - Inflammation's role in infertility51:26 - Why kids' mental health is under assault from diet 58:16 - The Inflammatory Reset: Dr. Redd's new book

Are you feeling irritable, gaining weight, can't sleep, or struggling to hold it together? You might be having perimenopausal symptoms. Dr Deb shares how women over 30 can navigate fluctuating hormones and get back to feeling like themselves,
If your body feels tired, foggy or unfamiliar, this conversation might change how you see yourself. January can feel like a strange in-between. The world is telling us to reset, optimise, and transform. But our bodies are often saying something much quieter: I'm tired. I need care. I need kindness. In this episode, Zoe sits down with Dr Mindy Pelz for a conversation that feels less like “health advice” and more like a deep exhale. Together, they explore what's really going on for mothers beneath the brain fog, the overwhelm, the resentment, the stubborn changes in our bodies – and why so many of us feel like we're failing, when actually our bodies are doing exactly what they were designed to do. Dr Mindy gently reframes stress, hormones and fatigue, helping us understand why women's bodies respond so differently to pressure, why putting ourselves last comes at a cost, and why self-care isn't something to squeeze in once everything else is done. They also talk about fasting – not as a rule or restriction, but as a way of working with the female body rather than against it – and how it can support clarity, calm and energy when done with care and context. And perhaps most powerfully, this conversation reclaims perimenopause and menopause as something rarely spoken about in this way: not an ending, but a powerful rewiring. A time when the brain begins to let go of people-pleasing, external validation and over-functioning – and moves us towards leadership, confidence and deep self-trust. This episode is an invitation to step into the year differently. To stop fixing yourself. To start listening to yourself. In this episode, you'll hear about: Why stress underpins so much of how mothers feel in their bodies and minds How women's bodies and brains are uniquely wired through motherhood and midlife What self-care, fasting and strength really look like when done with compassion Why midlife can be a powerful return to clarity, confidence and self-trust
In this high-energy episode of Beauty Bytes, I sit down with Dr. Latt Mansor, a world expert in physiology and metabolism with a PhD from the University of Oxford. We dive deep into the science of ketones—the body's natural "super fuel"—and why you don't need to be on a strict keto diet to reap the benefits.I actually take a shot of Ketone-IQ during the episode, and you can hear me get into the "zone" in real-time! . Dr. Mansor explains how exogenous ketones can banish brain fog without the caffeine jitters, suppress appetite by regulating ghrelin and leptin, and even positively influence our epigenetics and gene expression. We also bust common myths about ketoacidosis and discuss why walking might be the most underrated biohack for breaking through fat loss plateaus .
Endlich soll Long Covid erforscht werden. Bringt diese Allianz jetzt die Wende? Was erleben Betroffene in ihrem Alltag - jenseits von Statistiken und Schlagzeilen und welche Hürden müssen sie überwinden im Kampf um Würde und Teilhabe. Menopause isn't just a health conversation. It's a career conversation. And yet, so many smart, capable women are quietly navigating brain fog, exhaustion, emotional swings, and a sudden drop in productivity—while still expecting themselves to perform at the same level they always have. In this episode of Good Girls Get Rich, I'm joined by my friend and colleague Allie Theiss for an honest, grounded conversation about how menopause really shows up at work—and why pretending it doesn't exist is costing women far more than we realize. If you've ever found yourself thinking: Why can't I focus like I used to? Why does my energy disappear halfway through the day? Why does work suddenly feel harder, even though I'm more experienced than ever? You are not alone—and you're not broken. In this conversation, we talk about: How menopause affects productivity, focus, and performance at work What "menopause brain fog" actually feels like Why women often blame themselves instead of their biology The difference between working harder and working smarter during this season Simple workplace accommodations that can make a real difference Why menopause impacts entrepreneurs and corporate leaders differently—but just as powerfully Nutrition, sleep, stress, and mind-body support for cognitive clarity Supplements, hormone replacement therapy, and why there is no one-size-fits-all solution This episode isn't about fixing women. It's about understanding what's happening so we can lead, work, and live with more compassion—and more strategy. Allie is a board-certified sexologist, menopause care provider, and PhD candidate in mind-body medicine. She's the founder of Menopause Wellness and The Passion Zone, where she helps women in midlife reclaim clarity, vitality, intimacy, and confidence through science-backed, holistic frameworks. She's also a graduate of my She's LinkedUp Accelerator, and it's been incredible to watch her step into greater visibility and leadership with this work. This conversation is such a beautiful example of what happens when women own their expertise and bring important, often-overlooked conversations into the spotlight. In this episode, Dennis Simsek explains why memory often feels unreliable when the nervous system is living in survival mode and how this is a natural response to prolonged stress rather than a sign that something is wrong. You will learn how anxiety shifts the brain's priorities, why effort and mental checking tend to increase symptoms, and how clarity returns through safety instead of force. In this powerful first episode of 2026, Julie works live with Emily from Pennsylvania, whose cloudy thinking clears in real time when energetic estrogen is introduced into her system. Julie explains why bioidentical hormones—chemically identical to what our bodies produce when healthy and fertile—can make all the difference, and why synthetic alternatives often fall short. The healings continue across continents as Elizabeth in Florida receives an extraordinary energetic protocol for a rare cancer, including lymphatic cleansing, stem cell energy, and multi-strand DNA reconfiguration. Julie describes toxins spinning out like reverse osmosis and new lymph nodes regenerating through energetic vortices, offering insight, hope, and practical guidance for navigating a long-term health journey. This episode also brings a heartfelt moment of pet communication when Jeannie from Ohio connects with her recently transitioned dog, Teddy—who delivers very specific guidance, including encouragement to adopt a new male puppy (and even names him!). From hormones and cancer support to mold exposure, kidney stones, pet messages, and a surprise $750 session giveaway, this episode perfectly blends spirituality with practicality—showing how real-time intuitive healing can create profound, life-changing shifts.Episode Chapters:(0:00:00) - Welcome Back: First Show of 2026(0:02:58) - Emily's Brain Fog and Hormone Healing (0:10:00) - Elizabeth's Rare Cancer Protocol (0:17:00) - Michelle's Mold Exposure Discovery (0:22:00) - Spirit Guide Messages for Cheryl (0:25:00) - Lisa's Consciousness Expansion Journey (0:34:00) - Jeannie's Message from Teddy the Dog (0:42:00) - Free Session Winner Announcement (0:45:00) - Jennifer's Back and Disc Healing (UK) (0:48:00) - Michael's Kidney Stones and Hip Pain(0:53:00) - Molly's Career and Financial Guidance➡️Subscribe to Ask Julie Ryan YouTube➡️Subscribe to Ask Julie Ryan Español YouTube➡️Subscribe to Ask Julie Ryan Português YouTube➡️Subscribe to Ask Julie Ryan Deutsch YouTube➡️Subscribe to Ask Julie Ryan Français YouTube✏️Ask Julie a Question!

Have you ever said, "I just don't feel like myself anymore" — even though your labs look normal? In this episode of the Health Fix Podcast, Dr. Jannine Krause breaks down why inflammation starts in the brain, how it drives fatigue, brain fog, cravings, hormone imbalance, and accelerated aging — and why 2026 is the year to stop suppressing symptoms and start correcting root causes. Inflammation isn't just a body problem. It's a brain health issue first. Your brain uses 20% of your daily calories, and when inflammation is present, it shifts into defensive mode, not performance mode. That's when clarity disappears, energy crashes, and nothing feels like it's working anymore.
If you have been dealing with brain fog, anxiety, chronic fatigue, mood changes, or symptoms that feel real but keep coming back with “normal” labs, this episode will help you understand what your brain and body are signaling beneath the surface. In today's episode, I sat down with Dr. Eboni Cornish to explore the biological roots of mental and emotional health through the lens of neuroinflammation. We discuss how chronic stress, hidden infections, toxins, and gut imbalances can disrupt brain function, hormones, and mood, often long before conventional testing catches it. We also talk about why conditions like Lyme disease and autoimmune patterns are frequently missed, how the gut-brain connection shapes mental health, and why cleansing without restoration can keep people stuck. Dr. Eboni Cornish is a physician specializing in brain health and neuroinflammation, with a focus on integrating neuroscience, functional medicine, and compassionate, whole-person care. What's Discussed: (00:02) Why brain fog, anxiety, and fatigue can exist even when labs look normal (06:00) How chronic stress becomes biological and impacts brain function (11:00) Why cleansing without restoration can keep healing stuck (15:55) What it means to view mental health as measurable brain biology (21:30) Neuroinflammation, anxiety, and the gut–brain connection (30:40) Hidden toxins and infections driving chronic symptoms in women (35:50) Why Lyme and chronic infections are often misdiagnosed (53:20) Hormones, perimenopause, and protecting long-term brain health Thank You to Our Sponsors: Sunlighten: Experience the healing power of light for yourself. This episode covers:Why vitamin B1 (thiamine) may be one of the most overlooked yet critical nutrients for cellular energy, brain health, and metabolic function. Many women describe a pattern they are never able to explain. They eat well, exercise consistently, and follow every recommendation they are given. Yet their weight fluctuates, their mood shifts unpredictably, and their focus disappears for weeks at a time. Anxiety creeps in. Depression settles quietly. Brain fog becomes normal. And eventually, shame takes over. This is not a motivation problem. This is not a discipline issue. And it is not “all in your head.”In this hol+ conversation, Dr. Taz sits down with reproductive psychiatrist Dr. Sarah Oreck to reveal why PCOS is not just a hormonal or reproductive condition, but a whole-body mental health story that has been overlooked for decades.Instead of viewing PCOS through isolated symptoms like irregular cycles, acne, or fertility struggles, Dr. Oreck explains how insulin resistance, inflammation, cortisol dysregulation, and androgen shifts directly affect brain chemistry, cognition, emotional regulation, and stress tolerance. She breaks down why women with PCOS experience significantly higher rates of anxiety, depression, brain fog, and eating disorders, even when routine labs appear normal. This episode explores how blood sugar instability alters neurotransmitter production, why inflammation may be a core driver of mood disorders, and how chronic stress and cortisol overload reshape the nervous system over time. Dr. Taz and Dr. Oreck also examine the role of medical gaslighting, delayed diagnosis, and the psychological toll of being told symptoms are imagined, exaggerated, or self-inflicted.From adolescence through fertility journeys, pregnancy, postpartum, and perimenopause, this conversation reframes PCOS as a condition that affects the brain, gut, metabolism, and nervous system together, not in isolation. It highlights why symptom masking often fails, why talk therapy alone is not enough during hormonal dysregulation, and why true healing requires integrated, compassionate care. You will learn why weight swings are not about willpower, why mood changes often track with insulin and cortisol rather than character, how gut health and microbiome shifts influence cognition, and what it means to become hormone-literate early, for yourself and for your children.Together, Dr. Taz and Dr. Oreck offer a clear, validating roadmap for anyone who has felt dismissed, confused, or trapped in a body that will not respond the way it is supposed to.Dr. Taz and Dr. Sarah Oreck discuss: • Why PCOS has a major mental health component that is rarely addressed • How insulin resistance and blood sugar swings impact mood and cognition • The link between inflammation and anxiety, depression, and brain fog • Why cortisol and chronic stress intensify PCOS symptoms • How medical gaslighting delays diagnosis and fuels shame • Why fertility journeys often uncover long-missed PCOS patterns • The connection between PCOS and eating disorders like bulimia • How gut health and microbiome shifts affect brain function • Why birth control can help some women and worsen symptoms for others • The importance of hormone literacy across the lifespan • How to advocate for yourself when symptoms are dismissed • Why healing requires integrated care, not isolated fixesAbout Dr. Sarah Oreck Dr. Sarah Oreck is a reproductive psychiatrist and the founder of Mavida Health. She specializes in the intersection of female reproductive hormones and mental health, with a focus on conditions like PCOS, fertility-related mood disorders, pregnancy, and postpartum mental health. Through clinical care, education, and community building, she works to close the gap between psychiatry, endocrinology, and whole-person medicine.Stay Connected:Connect further to Hol+ at https://holplus.co/- Don't forget to like, subscribe, and hit the notification bell to stay updated on future episodes of hol+.Follow Dr. Sarah OreckInstagram: https://www.instagram.com/sarahoreckmdWebsite: https://www.sarahoreckmd.com/ & https://mavidahealth.com/ Follow Dr. Taz on Instagram: https://www.instagram.com/drtazmd/https://www.instagram.com/liveholplus/Subscribe to the audio podcast: https://holplus.transistor.fm/subscribeSubscribe to the video podcast: https://www.youtube.com/@DrTazMD/podcastsGet your copy of The Hormone Shift: Balance Your Body and Thrive Through Midlife and MenopauseHost & Production TeamHost: Dr. Taz; Produced by ClipGrowth.com (Producer: Pat Gostek) (00:00) - Doing everything right but nothing changes (00:18) - Shame and medical gaslighting (00:37) - PCOS as a mental health story (01:16) - Inflammation and brain chemistry (02:00) - Focus, memory, emotions, and PCOS (04:21) - Origin story: hormones and gaslighting (06:11) - Why PCOS is missed (07:52) - PCOS and depression/anxiety rates (09:22) - Why fertility journeys reveal PCOS (11:30) - Labs and patterns clinicians ignore (12:59) - Diagnosis criteria explained (14:57) - Blood sugar swings and mood (15:56) - Insulin resistance and cognition (18:18) - Cortisol, stress, and PCOS (20:51) - Pregnancy exposure and cortisol (27:11) - Why we need screening tools (30:49) - Supplements that may help (32:15) - Microbiome and brain fog (44:31) - Rehearsing your story with doctors (46:10) - PCOS and bulimia connection (49:42) - Become hormone literate early

So many people with Hashimoto's carry emotional patterns they don't even realize are affecting their thyroid. Today we take a closer look at the invisible habits we learn early in life, the ones that quietly shape how safe we feel being ourselves.Sometimes you minimize what hurt you. Sometimes you feel responsible for other people's reactions. Sometimes you stop trusting your own knowing, even when your body is nudging you in the right direction. These patterns may seem emotional on the surface, but they create real physiological stress, and your thyroid feels every bit of it.This episode explores why these habits form, how they show up in everyday situations, and why the thyroid is uniquely sensitive to self-expression, boundaries, and inner trust. You will see how simple shifts in awareness can help your body feel safer, calmer, and more supported from the inside out.If you have ever felt like you disappear inside your own life, or like your voice gets quieter when you need it most, this conversation will help you reconnect to yourself in a deeper way. Your thyroid responds to that connection, and you may be surprised how much changes when you begin to honor what you truly feel.Healing is not only biochemical, it is also emotional, energetic, and rooted in how you relate to yourself every day. In this episode, I had the pleasure of sitting down with Dr. Tracy McCarthy, a brilliant functional medicine physician and psychiatrist, to talk about what it really takes to heal—especially in midlife. We explored how functional medicine goes beyond symptom management and instead focuses on the root causes of chronic conditions like anxiety, fatigue, brain fog, and digestive issues. Tracy's perspective on how nutrition, inflammation, gut health, and lifestyle play into our mental and physical well-being is deeply empowering. As someone who works with women navigating health and identity shifts in midlife, I found this conversation to be a powerful reminder that healing is possible—and it doesn't have to feel overwhelming. Dr. McCarthy shares how small, consistent changes can lead to massive improvements and how partnering with your body (not fighting it) is the key to long-term health. Standard blood work might tell you everything looks “normal,” while your hormones are actually in post-menopausal free fall. In this episode, I'll walk you through my wife Sage's hormone test results on the whiteboard, exposing the hormonal ratios blood tests miss, estradiol being 100x more potent than other estrogens, and why hormone therapy is the only approach that actually works. This episode is essential viewing for couples navigating the hormonal minefield together, complete with the exact protocols that brought Sage back to herself. If you've been dealing with constant dizziness and brain fog and you can't figure out why you feel off, spacey, or not fully in your body, this episode is for you. Dizziness and brain fog are not just random symptoms or signs of aging – they're often your brain's way of screaming that your balance system is overloaded and undertrained. Constant dizziness and brain fog can also quietly wreck your focus, drain your energy, spike your anxiety, and sabotage how you show up at work, in the gym, and in your relationships. In this episode, you'll learn why what feels like a “mind problem” is often actually a balance problem – and how to start changing it from the ground up.Human Performance Specialist Caydrick Bloomquist breaks down the hidden role of your brain's balance network in mood, focus, stress, and sleep, and why most guys never get taught how to train it on purpose. Caydrick's work in Neuro-Functional Training and Mental Fitness shows that when you start working directly with your balance and awareness systems, you can shift how you feel faster and more powerfully than just trying to “think positive” or meditate harder. Instead of floating through your day half-present and half-dissociated, you learn how to get back in your body, stabilize your system, and actually feel like yourself again. You'll hear how balance drills and vestibular-focused work – including spinning, head movements, and targeted visual-vestibular exercises – can literally help rewire your brain. These inputs tell your nervous system, “You're safe and in control,” which can calm anxiety, clear brain fog, and reduce that ongoing dizzy, floaty feeling in a way that sitting still often can't touch. If meditation has felt too slow or frustrating for you, this conversation gives you a more active, body-based way to train awareness, presence, and emotional regulation. We also explore why your balance system is really your awareness system – constantly feeding your brain information about where you are in space. When that system is off, your brain feels unsafe and ramps up symptoms like dizziness, weird vision, brain fog, irritability, and emotional overreactions. When you tune this system up, you don't just stand steadier; you think clearer, react calmer, and sleep deeper because your brain finally trusts your body again. If you're a man who's tired of living with constant dizziness and brain fog, feeling like your brain is always half a second behind, this episode gives you a new map for what's actually going on – and a path forward. You'll walk away with a new understanding of why you feel the way you feel, plus practical ideas and a fresh respect for the “hidden hardware” driving your mood, focus, and performance.Hosted on Ausha. Chris Anderson speaks with Dr. Brian McCarley about his journey from a head athletic trainer to a long-time successful chiropractor, guiding entrepreneurs, business leaders, and families. From Athletic Training to Chiropractic: Dr. Brian recounts his career shift, explaining that the late-night, intense lifestyle of an athletic trainer was incompatible with being a newlywed. This led him through a brief stint in the business world before choosing chiropractic—a more natural, faith-aligned healthcare approach—necessitating a difficult move to Texas for three years of school. The Entrepreneurial Decision Cascade: Success after the initial leap requires navigating a continuous series of smaller, difficult decisions that, when stacked together, can feel overwhelming. Dr. Brian advocates for prioritizing based on what's urgent versus what's truly important, and learning to make the "least bad decision" when all options are challenging. He suggests using whiteboards and Post-it Notes to visualize and prioritize tasks, and to always assess how one decision will affect others down the road. The Value of Advisors: Having a team of trusted advisors is crucial for gaining an outside perspective, simplifying complex issues, and identifying personal "blind spots" or ego-driven blocks that cloud judgment. Dr. Brian sees his role with patients and clients not as an educator, but as a "guide" to help them become the "hero of their own life."Overcoming "Brain Fog" with Health: The episode dives into the connection between health and entrepreneurial performance. Dr. Brian pinpoints "bright shiny syndrome" and neglecting self-care as common causes of mental clarity issues that compromise business-critical decisions.Practical Health Strategies for High-Achievers:Efficient Exercise: Focus on activities that offer the greatest benefit in the shortest time, citing rucking (walking with a weighted vest) as an effective, low-impact method.Time Management & Delegation: Calculate your effective hourly rate and delegate tasks that cost less than that rate to a VA or part-time help, freeing up the entrepreneur for high-value work and personal time.Hourly Brain Breaks: Set a timer to take a 5-minute break every hour to step away from the computer. This prevents neurological burnout and increases efficiency and problem-solving.The Logic of Intermittent Fasting: Dr. Brian shares his thoughts on intermittent fasting, noting that three meals a day is a product of the industrial revolution and that bodies are designed for periods of fasting. He advises anyone trying it to be deliberate, prepare for mental shifts, and learn to distinguish between true hunger and boredom by drinking water. This episode is NOT sponsored. What's really driving the sudden belly fat, brain fog, and sleep chaos so many women hit in midlife? And why do the usual "eat less, move more" solutions stop working overnight? In this episode featuring Dr. Aleksandra Gajer, we dig into the hormones and peptides that may finally explain why your body feels like it's changing without your permission. Together, we unpack what's happening beneath the surface (insulin resistance, inflammation, mitochondrial slowdown, hormonal roller coasters), and ask the questions women are never told to ask. What if your symptoms aren't a lack of willpower but a lack of biochemical support? And what if the tools to help you already exist? Which peptides actually matter for women in perimenopause and menopause? Which ones help with sleep, energy, weight, stress resilience, or recovery? And how do you know when it's time to consider hormone therapy or advanced diagnostics? Get all the answers in this episode! In this episode, we uncover: How shifting hormones trigger metabolic chaos long before menopause officially begins. Why peptides like BPC-157 and MOTS-C may support healing, energy, and resilience. How inflammation, gut health, and chemical exposures silently shape weight and symptoms. Why GLP-1 medications aren't shortcuts, plus who actually benefits from them. How personalized labs and targeted therapies can prevent years of unnecessary suffering. If you're ready to understand your midlife body in a way no one has ever explained before, this episode is for you. Listen now to start feeling informed and empowered! Struggling with mental fatigue, forgetfulness, or difficulty concentrating? In this episode of Dishing Up Nutrition, dietitians Melanie Beasley and Britni Vincent break down the root causes of brain fog and how simple nutrition shifts can help clear the mental haze. They discuss blood sugar balance, inflammation, gluten sensitivity, nutrient deficiencies, hormonal changes, stress, hydration, and the surprising foods that can either fuel or drain your brain. Learn what to eat (and what to avoid), how to build brain-boosting meals, and the lifestyle habits that support clearer thinking, steadier moods, and better long-term brain health.
This interview took place on a historic day: the FDA removed the black box warning for HRT (hormone replacement therapy) after 20 years. My guest, Dr. Mariza Snyder, author of The Perimenopause Revolution, explains why this matters and why women have been suffering needlessly for decades while doctors dismissed their symptoms as "just aging" or "just stress." Perimenopause is the 4 to 10-year transition where hormones wildly fluctuate before menopause, and Dr. Snyder calls it "the window of vulnerability." She uses a powerful metaphor: imagine estrogen as your brain's master CEO who shows up like clockwork from 9 AM to 6 PM for 30 years. Then, suddenly, without warning, it shows up at 2 PM one day and leaves at 11 PM, then shows up at 6 AM the next day and leaves at 11 AM. Your brain scrambles trying to regulate energy, neurotransmitters, sleep, mood, and cravings. The most compelling insight of our conversation is a Mayo Clinic study that found 84% of menopausal women don't seek care. Why? Because they feel judged in the doctor's office. Dr. Snyder wrote her book as the roadmap she desperately needed when she started her own perimenopause journey, connecting symptoms to future health outcomes and providing practical solutions beyond just "you're getting older."
Welcome back to our weekend Cabral HouseCall shows! This is where we answer our community's wellness, weight loss, and anti-aging questions to help people get back on track! Check out today's questions: Amy: Hi Dr. Cabral. I appreciate everything that you do for the community! My question is about heart palpitations for someone in perimenopause. I notice them only slightly during the day but it seems they really ramp up in the evening. In addition, my energy plummets and I feel incredibly tired and foggy headed. I've had my hormone levels checked and everything seems fine, so I'm wondering if you have any thoughts on what I should check next. My gut tells me maybe I should look into cortisol, but I also know it could be one or multiple other factors. I appreciate your thoughts. Whitney: Curious about your perspective on various medspa type aesthetic treatments like collagen tightening (usually via radio frequency/ heating deeper layers of tissue), lasers for skin dark spots or resurfacing, PRP micro needling, or at home micro needling? Wondering if these will have other damaging side effects etc? Thanks !! Whitney: What are your thoughts on tattoo removal ? I was thinking about getting some tattoos removed but wasn't sure if I could detox my way out of all the harmful side effects since I guess my body would have to do something with that ink that is removed ? Or is it just as harmful as is it now in my skin ? Thanks ! Jodi: Hello, I am scheduled to have an MRI with a gadolinium based contrast this Friday. The reason for it is two-fold. 1) They want to look at my pancreas. My recent blood work shows I have very high Lipase at 232 U/L and High Amylase at 118 U/L. I don't have any symptoms indicating pancreas issues. My Lipase was also high in blood work 6 months previously and has continued to climb. 2) Follow up scan for polycystic liver disease (well over 100 cysts on my liver) as well as a solid lesion on my liver which was believed to be benign when it was discovered about 7 years ago. Now I am beginning to panic as I have read that the metal from the dye cannot fully be detoxed. Is there another option for the dye? have more to say but not enough characters in this email. Rebecca: Hi Dr Cabral I had an allergic reaction to an antibiotic that caused me to loose consciousness probably at least 30 times or more and in between losing consciousness I would yell in pain because my whole body went into spasms. My brain was starving for oxygen so it started taking the oxygen from the muscles because my body started shutting down. I have had brain fog really bad since it happened 2 months ago. Is there anything I can do about the brain fog? My guest is Dr. Thaïs Aliabadi, MD, board-certified OB/GYN, surgeon and leading expert in women's health. We discuss polycystic ovary syndrome (PCOS) and endometriosis, two very common yet frequently undiagnosed causes of female infertility. Dr. Aliabadi explains the symptoms, underlying causes and evidence-based treatments for both conditions, including supplement and lifestyle interventions. We also discuss breast cancer risk and screening, pregnancy, perimenopause and menopause, and the hormone tests that women should request. This conversation offers empowering, potentially life-changing information for women of all ages to take control of their hormone, reproductive and overall health.
