The standard has been developed to enable stakeholders to prove whether a building aligns with the UK's carbon and energy budgets by providing a single, agreed methodology for defining what ‘net zero carbon' means for buildings in the UK.This probably won't be the only episode we'll produce on the subject and we'll be watching its progress with great interest.  Notes from the showThe UK Net Zero Carbon Buildings Standard websiteThe UK Net Zero Carbon Buildings Standard on LinkedInJess Hrivnak on LinkedInJane Anderson on LinkedIn Julie Godefroy on LinkedInA Passive House Plus article about UKNZCBSA story about the greenest Sainsbury's ever**SOME SELF-PROMOTING CALLS TO ACTION**We don't actually earn anything from this, and it's quite a lot of work, so we have to promote the day jobs.Follow us on the Zero Ambitions LinkedIn page (we still don't have a proper website)Jeff and Dan about Zero Ambitions Partners (the consultancy) for help with positioning and communications strategy, customer/user research and engagement strategy, carbon calculations and EPDs – we're up to all sortsSubscribe and advertise with Passive House Plus (UK edition here too)Check Lloyd Alter's Substack: Carbon UpfrontJoin ACANJoin the AECB Join the IGBCCheck out Her Own Space, the renovation and retrofit platform for women**END OF SELF-PROMOTING CALLS TO ACTION**

She highlights the crucial role that parents play during these years as their children's brains are learning how to fully function, and provides practical ways that parents can support their teenage children. The EPPiC Broadcast is hosted by Michael Ramey, president of the Parental Rights Foundation. Holy moly, this is a good movie! It's an especially good movie to study for anyone writing a quiet, character-driven story. But honestly, this is one of those rare films that novelists (and memoirists!) can study to learn just about any storytelling principle. -V.*Programming Note: In next week's episode we review the movie NYAD, not GONE BABY GONE as indicated in the intro. In today's episode, we're looking at issues that come up in Indigenous communities, and one initiative to respond to the limitations of the law and to reassert cultural authority in one's own heritage, culture and data. Episode notes In this season of the podcast we're working with the Engelberg Center for Innovation Policy at NYU Law. In this episode, Dr. Jane Anderson talks about how she found “the law doesn't do a very good job in protecting collective knowledge.” One of the big challenges in the area that I work in is the language of ownership to start with, and the framework of property itself conditions what's possible to think about and what's possible to talk about. Jane co-founded Local Contexts, “a global initiative that supports Indigenous communities with tools that can reassert cultural authority in heritage collections and data. By focusing on Indigenous Cultural and Intellectual Property and Indigenous Data Sovereignty, Local Contexts helps Indigenous communities repatriate knowledge and gain control over how data is collected, managed, displayed, accessed, and used in the future.” We also speak with Courtney Papuni of Te Whakatohea iwi in Opotiki. Courtney speaks on her community's work with Local Contexts labels and the limitations of western notions of copyright on cultural heritage and knowledge. Jane Does Well organically became a group of women talking about divorce and supporting each other. -Christina Pavlina This week's guest was nominated by listeners twice, thanks to the support and community she has created for women going through divorce. Meet Christina Pavlina, co-founder & Executive Director of Jane Does Well, www.janedoeswell.org. Whether it is your choice or not, divorce is a heartache. If you've got children, the impact is even greater. Christina has walked this walk, and now she talks the talk. Through hands-on, practical programming, this unique non-profit helps women get through the trauma of divorce. Says Christina: “I didn't know how to navigate my own sense of loss, and at the same time, I didn't know how to help my children.” After I got through my own divorce, I realized I could help others.” The lessons she learned have been passed on to hundreds of women who have benefitted greatly from the services Jane Does Well provides. The organization has grown organically year after year and today, includes an ordained minister who experienced divorce herself, came to Jane Does Well for help, and is now the Director of Wellness and Trauma Programs. Jane Anderson oversees 10-week support groups for everyone from young moms to senior citizens. Christina explains: “The best way to overcome the loneliness of divorce is to talk to women who get it. Your family loves you. Your friends love you, but they will not understand what you are dealing with during and after divorce. Jane Does Well fills that gap.” #divorce #community #empowerment

Doug and Jane Anderson, of Wilmington, North Carolina, formed Port City Paranormal in 2004.Both have a background in the medical field and they apply that training in the many investigations that Port City Paranormal conducts. Using scientific methods for investigations and extensive research, their team members generally have no knowledge as to the alleged events that occurred in the location thus creating unbiased observations while on site. The USS North Carolina ha been a focus of their investigations and they have visited the battleship more than 30 times. They will share the history of the ship as well as their experiences investigating it. They will also share evidence that they have obtained. The USS North Carolina was commissioned on April 9, 1941, and participated in every major Pacific sea offensive in WWII. In all, 10 crewman lost their lives during battles and 67 were wounded. She was decommissioned on June 27, 1947. In October, 1961, she arrived at her current location and was opened as a floating museum.Websites portcityparanormal.com battleshipnc.com
