How patriarchy and politics divide women—and how somatic healing can rebuild connection. In this episode, I explore why so many women are cutting off friendships post-election and how historical and patriarchal conditioning contribute to loneliness and division. I share somatic tools to help you process emotions, have tough conversations, and rebuild trust in your friendships. Feeling stuck in friendship struggles? Join the Untamed Self Circle or sign up for my mailing list for somatic tools and support.
In this episode, I'm digging into the far-reaching impacts of Roe v. Wade being overturned—going way beyond the loss of abortion access. We're talking about how this decision is reshaping maternal care, mental health, and healthcare inequities in the U.S., especially for marginalized communities. I'm pulling insights from studies that show just how deeply these changes are hitting women's health, families, and even the medical professionals trying to navigate restricted care. From the increased risks of mental health issues to the systemic strain this is putting on an already overwhelmed healthcare system, this conversation is all about understanding the bigger picture.

Check out Reclaiming Me: https://linktr.ee/valerieschrader One of the most aggravating things for me to witness are people trying to tell us what methods of healing and resourcing are the best! Check out all my current offers: https://linktr.ee/valerieschrader I yelled at a new client recently for saying they're broken. I reminded them that no one needs to put them back together. No one needs to fix them. And there's nothing so irreparable about them that they're a lost cause. Like my client, so many of us see the messages that because of the shit we've been through we're broken and this one person can help put you back together again. I F$&%ing hate when I see coaches & therapists put out messages like this! It's a power play meant to prey on someone's insecurities and so incredibly wrong. My dad always said duct tape could patch anything (in case it weren't obvious that I'm Gen X that should clarify things

Check out Unleashed & all my current offers: https://linktr.ee/sensualpower had a pretty major injury that caused me to put on over 50lbs and my belly showed a lot of it. I felt so insecure that I wasn't letting my belly be touched, I was trying to remain clothed, avoiding certain positions. It made everything suck and I wasn't really enjoying spicy time anymore! Addressing the shame and judgment I felt not only erased all those issues a few other things happened: I challenged everything I'd been taught about my body and fell in love with it! l love my body more than I did during all my years working as an aerialist and pole dancer. I developed better exercise habits and do because it feels good. I addressed emotional eating and worked on feeling more love within. I enjoy spicy time way more because I'm in the moment. I dress differently and wear brighter colors vs the all-black lused to! I feel so much better about myself and again, spicy time is wav more fun than it's ever been!
Check out Unleashed & all my current offers: https://linktr.ee/sensualpower It's completely normal to feel more anxious about performing when you finally have a healthy, safe relationship. You're not used to getting what you want yet. Even when you understand all the relationship trauma your body still isn't adapted to allowing relaxation. We have to help it adapt! The 2 most important things you can do are: 1. Create an integration & resourcing process to help the brain squirrels relax. 2. Either role play or do some other embodiment work to help your body feel good receiving & relaxing! Both things will calm the anxiety & make it easier for you to be yourself, enjoy spicy time, express your desires, & help your partner meet your needs! If that's something you want support on check out Unleashed in the normal spot
Check out Unleashed & all my current offers: https://linktr.ee/sensualpower Yesterday @strawberrysmutcakes and I were filming a module for Unleashed & she brought up wanting to discuss a particular issue that she's never experienced. We both grew up with narc moms & have dealt with A LOT of spicy time shame & relationship issues as a result. However, I'm the one that wasn't able to have an O till I was 29. Yep, the woman who was a former SWer, sensual movement teacher, and seemed so adventurous hadn't ever had one! Every bit of my worth, happiness & decision-making had been determined by my mom. So when I began dating & having sex with partners I thought they would be in charge of making me enjoy it! I would never say no, never tell them if something didn't feel good & then I'd never feel like I was fully in my body. I would then go so far into my head as I was being encouraged to come that I'd just fake it. At 29 I got my first vibe and finally, it happened but for it to happen I had to tense my whole body. I mean my whole body because that was the only way to stop me from checking out. I spent years doing that and the few times I had Os with partners I had to tense and force it for it to happen. I had no idea that I was just causing more harm to myself because everything was forced and without understanding what I wanted or needed. At first not much happened. I could barely touch myself without hearing this internal voice scream “NO”!!! I went slow and explored my body and pleasure in little bits. I built back to trust and then one magical day it happened... Not only did my body want pleasure again but I was able to totally relax into it! Instead of this short little rush that quickly ended, it felt like a tsunami and like my soul was cracked open. I didn't even know I could experience that! I'm sharing this because I'm not alone in this and maybe I won't change your life although I feel like it did mine. But what comes about from exploring totally relaxed and consensual pleasure because you've truly connected to your body and self will.

Check out all my current offers: https://linktr.ee/sensualpower. Fear of rejection as a trauma response What is a fear of rejection really? Well, it's a fear of being abandoned by someone or something. There are many different core wounds we experience in childhood. Abandonment is one of those. Now that doesn't always have to look like your basic needs glimg unmet or a parent being absent. Abandonment can look like your parent(s): * Not showing to up to support you for sports/dance/etc. activities. * Choosing the other parent/a partner over you even when inappropriate. * Not keeping promises or following through on things they agreed to. * Ignoring you and neglecting to spend quality time with you. There's a lot of other ways this fear of abandonment comes up. Point is, the fear exists. That leads to subconsciously or consciously always worrying about being rejected. Again, the rejection is really this fear of abandonment but you get the point. You become so worried about being rejected (abandoned) that you begin to anticipate it. You almost expect it which means you do 1 of 2 things: 1. You sabotage relationships or opportunities because better you get the jump on things falling apart vs them. Or 2. You give up before you start because you don't trust things will work out so desires, relationships, or dreams go unfulfilled. Either way, you're missing out on a lot of happiness! Which leads me to the obvious question? How do we let go of the fear and start welcoming in our happiness?! For that you've gotta follow and listen to my podcast
