As someone who's planning a maternity leave, this episode was everything I needed. Perfect for you if: ➡️ You're pregnant, and want to take time off to enjoy your baby ➡️ You want to take time off to enjoy a wedding, sabbatical, or whatever else comes to mind! We cover things like: ➡️ What are the biggest misconception most pregnant entrepreneurs have about maternity leave?➡️ Which limiting beliefs should pregnant entrepreneurs be mindful of?➡️ What do pregnant business owners need to know about taking time off?➡️ What's the first step? ➡️ We also touched on lots of logistics. Like automations, hires, how long maternity leave should be, and things like that — but she made such an incredible point that I absolutely loved. And it's changed my whole approach on this. ➡️ I also asked her if she has ever seen a pregnant entrepreneur actually make MORE money during their maternity leave? (Hint: She said "ABSOLUTELY".) It's juicy, y'all. Resources mentioned in this episode: If you're getting ready for maternity leave, you should get your hands on this Planning guide: https://www.spaciousmamas.com/PlanningGuideThis guide will help you take the first step in planning your leave by clarifying both your personal and business needs.

Extraits« Broke for free », Something Elated, 2011.Bande de filles, C. Is accountability enough?   We see it often: Some big-name celebrity, author, or self help star jumps on the bandwagon of a newly relevant social cause, and suddenly they're being treated as a savior of the people. But when you really pay attention, their motivations become clear, and their actions are often performative at best, harmful at worst.   In today's episode, I'm chatting with anti-racism and decolonization educator and activist Louiza “Weeze” Doran about the importance of actionability in addition to accountability.   With the rise of “cancel culture,” we've witnessed plenty of big names lose their platforms due to lack of accountability. But at the same time, others are celebrated for posting a black square, sharing a “peace and love” quote, or taking a lukewarm stand.   It's high time we hold the loudest voices in our society accountable for their actions, not just their words. Because as Weeze says in this episode, actionability is the true test of integrity.   Join me in today's episode as I chat with Weeze about the cultural shifts we're seeing right now. We're getting real about the biggest names in the self-help industry (ie Brene Brown) and why they thrive in our white-centric, capitalist society. Plus, we're talking about the ways you can open yourself up to others' viewpoints while still protecting your energy and truth.   Listen to episode 379 now! In episode 379 of the Embodied Podcast we discuss:   [3:36] Growing up in a multi-religious family and learning to appreciate different ways of thinking [7:30] Communing with your “divine support squad” and ancestral knowledge [9:55] How we change on our journeys to decolonize and decondition ourselves [13:05] The integrity of actionability and how to see through virtual signaling [27:38] Digging deeper into the messages we accept as truth [33:58] Being able to hold many truths at once instead of falling into the ‘us vs. them' trap [38:14] Leading with curiosity instead of judgment [46:24] Opening yourself up to other viewpoints while also protecting your energy and your truths [50:44] How to find knowledgeable voices and avoid those that aren't worth your energy [59:20] Why we should hold the loud voices in our culture accountable and start digging into their motivations   For full show notes and resources, head to https://untameyourself.com/podcasts/379 About the EMBODIED Podcast with Elizabeth DiAlto  Since 2013 I've been developing a body of work that helps women embody self love, healing and wholeness. We do this by focusing on the four levels of consciousness - physical, mental, emotional and spiritual. In practical terms this looks like exploring tools and practices to help you  tune into the deep wisdom of the body and the knowing of the heart, which I believe are gateways to our souls. Then we cultivate a new relationship with our minds that allows the mind to serve this wisdom and knowing and soul connection, rather than override it, which is what many of us were taught. If you've been doing self help or spiritual development work for a while, these are the types of foundational things that often people overlook in pursuit of fancier concepts that often aren't practical or sustainable. Here, we will focus on building these strong foundations so you can honestly and thoroughly embody self love. If you're feeling it, subscribe to the show, and leave us a review wherever you listen from. You can also keep up with show updates and community discussion on Instagram here.

As the anti-racism protests and movement continue to spread across our country, I wanted to represent a few Black voices on the podcast to help me/us get involved.   In early 2019, I took a 7-week class for white people on equity, race, and diversity. Louiza “Weeze” Doran, who took time out of her insanely busy schedule right now, was one of my teachers.  I consider her one of my main mentors when it comes to the subject of racism.  Weeze is a coach, educator, political activist, organizer, and strategist, among many other things. She’s in direct action toward moving the system forward to equity, justice, inclusion, and liberation for the Black community. Weeze and I talk about how we’re doing in our response so far after the George Floyd murder, 3 things that white people can do right now to support, and our historical culture of whiteness. She helps me get clear on how to define racism and what it looks like in everyday life, because it’s not always so obvious. She also answers some great questions from my listeners. This is an amazing listen, folks. It will wake you up, may make you uncomfortable (and that’s a good thing -- it means you’re being activated!) and inspire you to look at your own life and take action.   Shownotes: 7:25 Introduction Louiza "Weeze" Doran 10:55 Society's response to George Floyd’s death 19:30 What white people can do to support the anti-racism movement 25:55 Defining racism 32:30 How living in your personal bubble keeps you from understanding other people’s lives and experiences 40:30 How to support the Black community without coming across as condescending 45:30 Where to get news and unbiased information 47:00 Examples of “unchecked white privilege” and covert racism 54:00 How to support Black people at work 56:05 About “white-centering” 59:45: How to talk to kids about racism 1:05:50 Hope about the future 1:11:35 Action step   Useful Links: https://www.accordingtoweeze.com/ https://www.instagram.com/accordingtoweeze/ https://relationshipschool.com/rct/

Can you have the best of intentions and still be problematic? YES. Join me and Louiza Doran for a candid conversation about intention vs. impact. In this episode, you’ll learn why it’s important to take responsibility for your action, why it’s important to own your reaction, questions to ask yourself to shift from a state of reaction to a state of learning, and how to recognize all the ways in which you’re bypassing your own shit by calling people out on their shit. Louiza's work is as multifaceted as she is. She is a coach, an educator and a social impact strategist. Her coaching and consulting practice honors her passion for both social equity and personal empowerment; the two branches of her work. Louiza’s unique approach is a holistic one that considers the person, their identity and experiences as well as the communities in which we live. She uses her training, education, resources and personal journey to create a signature system that supports, edifies and guides her clients through a process that allows them to take an honest look at their lives and arms them with the tools necessary to begin living in alignment with their vision, values and belief system.  Louiza’s goal is simple: help people heal through decolonizing their beliefs in order to create relationships, businesses, careers and lives that reflect their values and honor who they are and how they want to live!   Connect with Louiza… IG: http://www.instagram.com/accordingtoweezus FB: http://www.facebook.com/thelouizadoran  Website: http://www.louizadoran.com    Membership: http://www.patreon.com/louizadoran    If you dig this podcast and want to connect, text me! 1171: Louiza Patikas & Archers Editor Sean O Connor on 2016 'Gaslighting' plot

Who would imagine that radio drama would make the headlines in 2016? It has, with the current Archers storyline featuring the manipulative and coercive Rob Titchener whose control of his pregnant wife turns to abuse, with dramatic consequences. The press have picked up on the storyline, and funds have been raised for domestic abuse charities. Maybe most importantly, this issue of quiet ‘gaslighting’ has been brought to the fore, with individuals now feeling able to step forward to a more understanding response. Here, the plot makes Newsnight coverage. I doubt whether Evan's interview with Louiza Patikas (who plays Helen) and the Editor Sean O Connor will win any TV awards, but it’s great to see, once again, radio claiming its rightful headlines. One doubts that TV was quite so generous with coverage of major radio drama plots in 1955 when Grace Archer died in the fire timed to co-incide with the day of ITV’s launch.
