Morgan calls this the adult dangerous sexy version of How to Train Your Dragon. This book series is the current IT book and it did not disappoint. I can't remember the last time I read a book this long in such a short amount of time. I literally couldn't put it down. This book has everything: family, friendship, danger, thrills, love, death.....and Rebecca Yarros put it all together in possibly one of the best books I have ever read. --- Support this podcast: https://podcasters.spotify.com/pod/show/the-smut-hive/support
This week's read is by an author new to us and she most certainly did not disappoint. Jillian read Author Kat Singleton's Black Ties & White Lies which is book one in the Black Tie Billionaires series. Book two drops tomorrow and we are absolutely here for it! This is a billionaire fake fiance, ex-douche-bag boyfriend's older brother, grumpy sunshine, first meeting ZING, spicy to the millionth degree, FANTASTIC book. Also, there's a great rant expressing our opinion on cancel culture in the book world. We'll just say TikTok struck a nerve and all we have to say is: My fellow "Book People", Do better! --- Support this podcast: https://podcasters.spotify.com/pod/show/the-smut-hive/support
Picture this: you are chilling in your apartment watching a movie with a bowl of popcorn enjoying the breeze coming in through your kitchen slider (note you are on the second floor) and you hear a noise and look over and you see a man standing on your patio. Not just any man, a hot, sexy, dressed in a $1000 suit man. What do you do? This is how Payton meets Nero. This story is wild but also, I loved it. Give the episode a listen if you want to know what Payton does. --- Support this podcast: https://podcasters.spotify.com/pod/show/the-smut-hive/support
We all know that when it comes to this book series Jillian is pro Jesse Ward. Morgan thinks he has too many red flags to be redeemed. We have always been on opposing sides with this one. Would you believe me if I said that Jillian is perhaps, maybe, possibility rethinking her pro Jesse stance? I wouldn't believe me either. I think this episode will shock you. I was shocked, and flabbergasted, all the things.....Jillian explains why. --- Support this podcast: https://podcasters.spotify.com/pod/show/the-smut-hive/support
We did something a little different this week. Morgan did the reading and Jillian got to ask the questions. This week was a reverse harem, and we all know how Jillian and Morgan feel about these, one loves them and one doesn't. We have the main woman character, Jessica. This reverse harem is complete with 4 men, Manson, Vincent, Jason , and Lucus. This RH starts as an enemies to lovers senior year of high school and jumps forward 3 years, when Jessica moves back to her hometown. Obviously this book has a lot of sex, ALOT. It's a RH so its supposed to, but this sex is angry and aggressive. I felt like i was holding my breath a bit because i didn't know what was coming. This book was quite a journey. --- Support this podcast: https://podcasters.spotify.com/pod/show/the-smut-hive/support

Back in August we read the 1st book in the Violent Delights series. This book series focuses on Sophia and Damien. In the 1st book you get the meeting between characters and the building of their relationship. Book 2 starts out with the characters in turmoil, life is coming at them at both angles and they are struggling to keep themselves and their relationship above water. We know Penelope Sky from her mafia world, but she decided to do a super natural series and we were here for it. Think smut, grit, and Game of Thrones all combined into a series. The book begins with a take-over war between 2 families. The father gets killed, the wife and kids get thrown over the cliffs to their death and a new king begins his reign. Fast forward 20 years, the king is still the same, he now has a family, specifically a daughter, Ivory. She is your normal spoiled princess, who doesn't have a great relationship with her father. No virgins in this story, she's living her best life. Huntley, a guard on the kings service, kidnaps Ivory and takes her to his kingdom, where his mother is queen. Come to find out, his mother, brother, and himself were the family thrown over the cliffs by her father. They have taken Ivory to use her and get their revenge. This book series is about, love, sex, revenge, loyalty, and betrayal, you never really know someone until the knife is in your back, right? --- Support this podcast: https://podcasters.spotify.com/pod/show/the-smut-hive/support

Emery, owner of local L.A bookstore, Lit Happens, life's falling apart. Eventually Emery gives in and they get married, to her it's for the money, for him its so much more. As readers we don't know what that means and neither does Emery, but she's going to find out quick that not everything is as it seems. Is this age gap, motorcycle, romance book we meet Haven and Chase. Haven is getting ready to graduate high school and is looking for a way to make some money so that she can go on a trip. She comes from a family of older brothers who are way over protective, a loving dad, and a mother that has passed away. Chase is your hot sexy asshole motorcycle bar owner who is too old to be messing with a 17 year old virgin. At first Chase wants nothing to do with Haven and even goes so far as to kick her out of his bar. We learn quickly that the motorcycle gang that hangs there is not nice and is also run by Chase's dad, who is also an asshole, but not in a good way. Of course Haven comes back and wants a job, Chase relents and give it to her, and the sexual I hate you tension begins. During this time we meet some side characters, we both personally love Haven's bestie, Cove. Drama follows, jealousy brews, monkey wrench's enter the ring, brothers dont know how to mind their business....in the end though they seem to get it together and go on an amazing trip together. It would seem the series isn't over though, the next book is about Cove and one of Haven's brothers.....we can't wait. --- Support this podcast: https://podcasters.spotify.com/pod/show/the-smut-hive/support
Can you tell we love mafia books. We open this book with youngish Dante and his brother Lorenzo. Lorenzo is refusing to marry who his dad, Sal, is ordering him to, so he writes him off and pushes everything on to Dante. After some time has passed rumors start swirling because Dante doesn't in fact get married because he killed his bride and her entire family the day before the wedding. Kat is living a normal boring life. Used to be a nurse, no longer is, doesn't leave her house much, her parents are dead, and her brother Leo is a garbage human, leaving Kat to pick up the pieces of the messes he creates all while he steals her savings and any money to her name. Kat comes home from work one day and there are 2 men in her house, Max and Dante. Essentially Leo owes Dante money and instead of killing Kat to make a point, he kidnaps her in hopes that Leo will come back to town and pay what he owes. Max is Dante's 2nd in command and is not shy to announce he thinks this plan is terrible. Kat is aware of who Dante is and is terrified that he is going to use her as his toy. He can tell how much that thought terrifies her and he makes it very clear that, that will not be happening and he is going to use her for her nursing skills. For us, Dante may be an asshole, but he is already starting to have redeeming qualities. Kat helps where she is needed, there is serious sexual tension, and one day it snaps. The sex between them is explosive. She has some trauma to work through and he is more then happy to help her out with that. Feelings start brewing pretty quickly. He does make it very clear that regardless of what they are doing, if she runs, he will kill her or hand her over to his men, and he is not playing around. She of course runs, shit happens, trust is broken, everything is just a mess. A sister shows up, Leo is found, the father is trash, all of the things.....because what would a good plot line be without it. --- Support this podcast: https://podcasters.spotify.com/pod/show/the-smut-hive/support
We love a good book with an alpha asshole male character, but we also love the redemption aspect of what makes us love these characters. Knox is the asshole in this book, he plays the enemy very well, however, he never really hits his redemption path. He continues to be very mean up to the very end. He has a very dark past that he seems to be stuck in, partially because he has a terrible abusive father that doesn't allow him to escape. Aspen is the female lead in this book, she starts out with a father that is into some shady shit, ends up getting murdered and only has his best friend to help her out. because her mom is garbage. One of the troupes of this book is that she starts sleeping with said best friend, age gap of about 25+ years. Knox and Aspen know each other from childhood and they hate each other. Knox knows all her dirty secrets and uses them to his advantage. They begin a sexual relationship after she ends things with the best friend (Leo, aka Knox's uncle). There is a lot of story in between in regards to her mother, Knox's dad, everyone's relationship. We will say the sex is good, the plot line is wild, and a happy ending isn't always what it seems. --- Support this podcast: https://podcasters.spotify.com/pod/show/the-smut-hive/support

If we could advise of one thing, it would be to take Amelia's trigger warning to heart in this book, she is not messing around. The book starts with the wedding of Aderyn, it has turned bloody because she has done something she should not have. We also meet Khaos Nasir, he is the man making things bloody. It would seem these 2 have a connection, however, he was not the one she was getting ready to marry. We learn quickly that Aderyn has done something in a past life that has cursed many people including Khaos. She is a witch and he is known as the devil. These 2 are destined to love one another however, bc of the curse they can't be together. He of course doesn't allow her to be with anyone else and because she can't remember anything from a past life, she hates him because of this. It's a constant battle between love and hate, sexual tension and the desire to harm the other, and the grand plan of getting rid of the curse that follows them. --- Support this podcast: https://podcasters.spotify.com/pod/show/the-smut-hive/support
Penelope Sky does it again. Honestly, she has not written a single book that we have not been OBSESSED with. We meet Bartholomew (we shall call him B man), head of the Mafia. He is looking to expand his business and take over the Skull King's territory. To get a leg up on the all mighty Skull King, he finds out he has an estranged daughter, Laura. His plan is to use Laura to get what he wants. Enter Laura. No ties to the mafia, doesn't speak to her father (hates him really), lives a quiet, peaceful life minding her own business. Sparks ignite when he walks into her shop. He immediately wants her in his bed (his plan hits a hard stop), she is intrigued by him, but knows by the look of him he's a criminal and wants no part of that life. They agree to one night. One night turns into more, feelings start popping up, danger finds them, betrayal, love, heartbreak. This book has it all. This is a 2 part series, and you will not be able to put it down until the very last word. --- Support this podcast: https://podcasters.spotify.com/pod/show/the-smut-hive/support
Age gap. What is the appropriate gap to be considered ok? Or is age just a number? Enter Higgest Bidder. Oh Sara Cate. You did us dirty. We meet Ronan, a rich, 56 year old silver fox, who is an investor in the Salacious Players Club. He likes to attend the club's auctions and bid on girls for a night of fun. His wife and son were killed many years ago, and his summer love from 9 years ago Shannon, only wanted a fling so she left. He isn't interested in love, just fun. Daisy. A 21 year old bartender at Salacious Players Club, has come into town to find none other then Ronan. Why you ask? Well she received a large trust fund of 1 million dollars when her mother passed, and the name on the money is Ronan's. She's in town to find out why he gave her mother that kind of money and until she does she refuses to spend a dime. Instead she lives in her car, and gets her water from a gas station (eye roll). As you can probably guess, shit goes down, they get nasty, the sex is hot....but what we can't seem to get on board with is that Daisy calls him "Daddy". Not sure if it's because he legit could be dad because the age gap is so big, if it's because he used to date and fuck her mother, or because we just don't like the nickname (well Morgan hates it, Jillian can get on board.....sometimes). Age gap for us is fine, IF the (in this case) 21 year old, doesn't act her age. Unfortunately, Daisy acts like a 21 year old, so we couldn't figure out why Ronan wanted her, unless it was because he's a fixer and needed a project. Let us know what you think. --- Support this podcast: https://podcasters.spotify.com/pod/show/the-smut-hive/support
Our first male/male romance book. The only male on male action we have read before was when it was a threesome situation with a girl. When a girl is apart of the mix its easy to see yourself there in the scenario, we didn't have that in this book. The sex scenes in this book were great. Very hot and very sexy, however, we obviously aren't professionals when it comes to what happens in the bedroom normally, we were a little lost, but we certainly learned a lot. We first met Giulio in the previous three books, he is the son of Fausto, the mafia boss. He left the mafia because he is gay and has been in hiding since because they frown upon the lifestyle. Because Fausto has enemies, that means that Giulio is always in danger, and this book is based around an assassin that is hired to kill Giulio. Enter Alessio. Giulio is Alessio's mark, however, Alessio would rather look and fuck then kill, but thats not how life works in his line of business. He follows Giulio to a club one night and ends up in a dark corner with Giulio on his knees.....everything changes at this point. Giulio ends up finding out who Alessio is, they talk and agree to a fuck now and kill later situationship. That doesn't work out, shocking we know, but the ride sure it worth it. --- Support this podcast: https://podcasters.spotify.com/pod/show/the-smut-hive/support
Mia Stone, an ex-FBI agent has been asked for her help on a case in a small town by her sheriff friend, Pete. After a tough case with the FBI, quitting her job, and helping her mother, she decides to move there for a fresh start to help out. She learns quickly that this small mining town has a murder problem and at the very top of her suspect list is the Volk family. Enter Seth Volk. Immediately she feels a strong pull to Seth. In her gut she knows he's not the killer of this case, but knows that he has killed before. She is intrigued, but unable to let go of her trust issues and continues pursuing him as a suspect, as well as his brother and father. Seth likes Mia, has the same pull to her, and doesn't care that she's a cop. He gets under her skin on purpose, but he has a massive secret that he doesn't want her to know. That secret, as you have probably guessed by the book title, is that he's a wolf. Obviously this causes issues that neither of them can avoid, especially after she accidently finds out the towns secret. Not only is Seth a wolf but the entire town in run by them. The Brit- We meet Rose and Danny Black, two people who have been broken by people in their lives and who lead lives they don't want. Rose is a whore to the elite, she is cold and emotionless and is controlled by a terrible man who holds her past over her head to get what he wants. Danny Black has just been given the key to run the mafia by the only person he has ever loved. He doesn't want it but feels obligated to continue tradition. Of course, when 2 people get together that probably shouldn't be, its pure chaos. He is mean, she doesn't even flinch. He wants her to show emotion, she refuses. However, because of this he feels pulled to her, and they both realize they are much more alike then they believe. The sexual chemistry between them is fire hot, but sex doesn't a relationship make, they both need to figure their shit out if they want anything to work between them. The Enigma- Beau, a cop, has lost her mom, and in that loss, has completely self destructed. She wants justice that people refuse to give her. James is a true enigma in this book. You always think one thing about him but find out it something different. A hard to read character, however, the one thing that isn't complex are his feelings for Beau. He is obsessed with her, and she has found someone that finally elicits some kind of emotion from her. Her desire to hang on to those feelings develops into actual real life feelings for James. Things aren't always what they seem in this story, but the author does an amazing job of giving the reader the inability to stop reading because you NEED TO KNOW what in the hell is happening. --- Support this podcast: https://podcasters.spotify.com/pod/show/the-smut-hive/support
This week we are featuring 3 different books written by 3 different authors. These amazing ladies were kind enough to send us their books, so review them we shall. Forged- Becky Banks Best friends from a young age, turned to young love and then heartbreak. The girl does the heartbreaking in this book when she leaves town to chase a life bigger than what she has and the guy has never recovered. She comes back and he is having none of it, wants nothing to do with her, but their lives keep pushing them back together. She's ready to move forward, but he just can't seem to move on from the past. Lawsuit and Leather- Vivian Mae This book kept us on our toes. You have 2 story lines in this book that the author does an amazing job bringing together. We have 2 best friends that both have feelings for each other, but neither act on it. They both move on with other people. A girlfriend that is annoying and rude, and a boss that is sexy and alluring, but breaks the fine line between professional and....not. Who chooses whom, this is a 2 book series so the story line continues. Partner Track-Cat Wynn Forced to be enemies because they are both lawyers that work against each other. They get snowed in together and the sexual tension can no longer be ignored. We had to come back and review the final book (book 4) of the Queens and Monsters Series. The first 3 were top notch, but did the 4th book live up to our very high JT expectations? YES! We meet Spider a couple books ago, he's the enforcer, the bodyguard, the number 2 to Declan, but we never really got a solid connection with him because we were focused on other characters. This book does an amazing job of building him up and explaining what he is all about. In this book, Declan has asked Spider to marry the a woman of another mob family so that the families can become more powerful. Spider agrees, what he finds is his 18 year old soon to be bride, what we wants is the bride's aunt Reyna. Reyna is a boss ass bitch, we love her, we are obsessed with her, she is powerful, and strong, and everything we want in our woman characters. They have a very hate relationship in the beginning but its laced with a lot of sexual tension. As the book progresses so do they, so does their relationship as a whole, the plot line is wild, and the sex....well if you know the work of JT, you know its hot and sexy and everything your sexual fantasies are about. Sex and politics. This is the first book we have read that mixes the two. We are all for sex but we don't love politics. Regardless, we decided to give it a go and see what all the hype was about. We meet Greer at a very young age. She is the granddaughter of a former vice president, and is thrown right into the party scene by her grandfather who uses her as a sort of spy, she likes doing this, and quickly becomes immersed in the political scene. The book skips ahead 10 years and then backwards 5. In both of these time jumps we meet Embry and Maxen. Embry is the current day vice president and Maxen, also known as Ash, is the current day president. The love triangle of these 3 individuals runs deep, but as we find out, nothing is ever as it seems. Is love enough or is there a line that once crossed means you can't really go back? We reviewed the first book of the, The Bonds that Tie series, and holy shit....we are obsessed. During recording Morgan was already on book 5 and couldn't put it down, Jillian was well on her way through the 2nd book. We are read a lot of paranormal romance books, a lot of RH books, and a mix of both. We have never read anything like this and we are loving it. The characters, the plot, the idea behind the story line.....we could go on and on. We meet the main character Oleander, or Oli, she is one of the most fierce woman characters we have come across and we love her. The men, North, Nox, Gryphon, Gabe, and Atlas all have their own stories and connections to Oli. They are all destined to be together, but sometimes the universe has other plans. Listen to this episode and for gods sake READ this book series, you won't regret it. --- Support this podcast: https://anchor.fm/the-smut-hive/support
We read the 1st book in this 6 book series. It's very romance meets thriller, something that we have never read before, so we were intrigued. We meet Penny, a nurse, very girl next door vibes, who is looking to get some experience in the BDSM world. She wants to broaden her horizons on the sexual front. She decides to go to a meet n greet, sex club style, and meets Marcus, a club dom. Marcus has a past, the past is dangerous and Penny is about to get wrapped up in it. Be sure to tune in and see what this past is and if Penny and Marcus can actually give their sub/dom relationship a go, or is it dead in the water before it has a chance to begin....pun intended. --- Support this podcast: https://anchor.fm/the-smut-hive/support
In this 3 book series, The Banker, The Dictator, The Tyrant, you meet Siena and Cato. Siena is a bad ass boss bitch who gets thrusts into a bad situation with bad people because of her father. Her family has been a part of the mafia for as long as she can remember and she wants nothing to do with it. These people have told Siena in order to save her father she must bring them Cato. Cato is the underworlds financier, he runs all the money for all the bad people. He also has very specific sexual needs, 2 women at once, always. He never sways from that. She has to find a way into his life, and she does, but not the way that you may think she does. We refuse to spoil the good stuff here so you will need to listen to the episode, but be sure to take it a step further and read it, because this just became Morgan's favorite series, topping This Man. Who would have thought!? --- Support this podcast: https://anchor.fm/the-smut-hive/support
We love a hot sexy alpha asshole billionaire.....CEO Ethan Frost is all of those things minus the asshole, and we dug it. It's not normally what we like, but for someone reason we loved him, we were routing for him, and honestly because we liked him so much, we didn't love Chloe. Chloe is the prime example of not letting your past dictate your future, punishing people away in your present because of those in your past, and we were over it. Together we read the 1st book, Morgan read the second, and her take on Chloe was that she wasn't a likeable character until book 2, which wasn't the most horrible idea, if that was what the author was going for. The cliffhanger on book 1 was epic and makes you feel like you NEED to get the second, which is where the best part of the plot line comes in. We spoil a lot in this episode so if you are going to read it, including book 2, listen to this afterwards. We will say that the sex in the book starts off slow and lovey, but by the end, HOT DAMN!
Up front this book makes us want to visit Ireland real bad, BB Easton does an amazing job setting up what its like to live in Ireland as a child. The sheep, the fairies, and the tall tales. However, as an adult, the world changes, as it usually does, and you start learning about the Irish mob and how loyal they aren't. Jillian and I agree that this book is very different from anything we have read before. We are not smut mafia professionals or anything but what we are used to is not what we got in this book. We meet Kellen and Darby who meet as children and fall in love. As they grow older they grow apart but never forget each other, life brings them back together, but they both have a lot of baggage and a dark past. The book is about their journey and whether destined love can actually win.
Rockstar meets girl next door. Most woman want this, dream about it, everyone has a Rockstar god that they want in their bed right? Don't get us wrong, are there hot musicians, sure. Jillian and I are more mafia, billionaire, dominating, controlling type of fantasy girls, so this wasn't really our cup of tea. The writing was so good though and the story line was great so it kept are attention peaked throughout. We love a good series that explore numerous characters with each new book. Katie and Jesse though, smoking. Slow burn was a bit long, but isn't it always. This is a great book series to read if Rockstar is your vibe.
Our friendship started because of this series, our podcast was born because of this series, and now we get a new perspective. The original series was in Ava's POV, now we get to hear Jesse's side. We do want to note that this book only covers the first book of the This Man Series. We both went into this book with different ideas of what it would be. Morgan was hopeful that Jesse would redeem himself and Jillian knew there was no redemption coming. Jillian was right and Morgan was pushed right over the edge. Listen to our thoughts on what we liked, disliked, and what we just can't move on from, and by we, we mean Morgan because we all know that Jesse is Jillian's favorite.
Camille has escaped from her long term client Grave and realizes that the only way to get out of their relationship is to have him killed. She finds out that a man by the name of Cauldron is her only hope. She finds him and has to sneak her way into getting a meeting with him. When he finds out that the man she's running from is his half brother, whom he hates, he decides to strike a deal for her to become his. When Grave finds out he looses his shit, all sorts of things happen, the biggest though, is that Camille falls in love with Cauldron....big mistake....huge.
What happens when you have rich, spoiled, sexy socialites that like to play games with each other....this book series. Jillian calls the series sexually uncomfortable, Morgan says that some scenes were a hard pass....but troupes are supposed to make you feel something, right? Royce and Marist are to be married as a business transaction so that Royce can get his spot on his families business' board. No one saw coming the obsession that Royce's father MacAlister would have with Marist after she passes many tests to get the spot of being a future Hale. MacAlister is the king of playing games and as much as Royce and Marist don't want to play they get sucked in and have to participate. The plot line that the author has set up in the series is wild and shocking, and you wont be able to put it down. Listen to get our take on this crazy as hell read.
