Timestamps: 4:56 - Having an investor back out 11:45 - Was the AVA exit a good or bad thing? 14:55 - Femtech stopped paying salaries and vendors 21:08 - Moving on to expeerly 30:29 - Is bootstrapping more stressful? About Lea von Bidder: Lea von Bidder is the co-founder and former CEO of AVA Women, a femtech startup advancing women's reproductive health by bringing together artificial intelligence and clinical research. Since 2022 she's also the founder and CEO at expeerly, a startup which makes it easy and efficient for companies to leverage the power of video without the hassle of production, editing, and distribution. She holds a MSc in Global Entrepreneurship from Emlyon Business School and Zhejiang University. AVA Women garnered much fame and success in Switzerland from 2015 up until 2021 (more on that in Lea's former episode with us), but unfortunately in 2021 they had their leading investor back out of their Series C round, which made the whole fundraising round fall apart. Since they did not have the money necessary to carry on for another 6-12 months, which would have been the time necessary to set up a new fundraising round, Lea and her co-founders decided to sell the company, and contacted CEOs they were personally acquainted with. Out of many potential buyers, they chose FemTech Health, because they believed in their vision to unite the fragmented femtech market. Sadly, FemTech didn't not follow through with the promises they had made post-exit, and even stopped paying vendors and employees, resulting in a round of layoffs. At this point, Lea left the company herself. She has since begun a new venture, expeerly, which she is bootstrapping. This audio is brought to you by Wearcheck, your condition monitoring specialist. Diversified mining major BHP, which has made a rejected proposal to combine with Anglo American by way of a scheme of arrangement, confirmed on Thursday that it intended maintaining its multi-decade listing on the Johannesburg Stock Exchange (JSE). BHPalso emphasised that, under its Anglo proposal, South Africa would continue to benefit from Anglo American Platinum and Kumba Iron Ore operating as independently listed South African companies investing in local operations, communities, and jobs. The structure of its proposal, including the proposed distribution of Anglo's shares in Anglo Platinum and Kumba to its shareholders, reflected the priorities for BHP's portfolio as well as opportunity for synergies, BHP stated in its release to Mining Weekly. Shares for the South African platinum and iron-ore businesses would, under the proposed structure, continue to be JSE listed and run by established South African-based management teams. Moreover, the Australia-headquartered BHP said that the proposed structure did not reflect a view of South Africa as an investment destination and was based on portfolio and commodity considerations. The great importance it attaches to creating social value for society and communities was also emphasised. "We believe this structure unlocks immediate value, delivering shareholders and stakeholders access to future growth opportunities and investment currently not available under the existing ownership structure," BHP added.

If you have any doubt about who really cares for you, and who really loves you, listen to Pastor Gary as he reminds us today that Jesus is the ultimate promise keeper and life-giver. Jesus is nothing like the world. He didn't buy us on the cheap, only to spit us out again when He's through with us. He didn't spin tales of enticement, leaving us empty and without hope. He loved you SO MUCH, that He ceased to breathe. That's how much your life is worth to Him. He wanted you to experience every good and perfect gift.
The end of the start of it all. We continue on into Act 2 of the first issue of Pulp Panic. The tale of an auction at the top of a high rise, where employees do their bosses bidding, and their bosses bidding is getting more and more expensive. The police start getting into Clara's head, the gravedigger tries to find his shovel, the auctioneer is bound by an agreement, and an empire may just finally come crumbling down.CW: Profanity, Sexual Content, Violence Hosted on Acast. Do you sometimes feel like you're being pulled in all directions? Social media, cultural do's and don'ts, and the government are only a few that come to mind in that great tug of war over our hearts and minds. Pastor Gary warns us today that we must be on our guard. Because if we're not, we'll slide down the slippery slope that takes us further and further away from the only One that we should stake our life on which is Jesus. Friends, don't let your life be won over by empty promises promoted by the world.

Are you ready for a riddle? What do auctions and eBay have in common? You guessed it. They both have possessions for sale. And as we all know, the highest bidder wins, right? Now take this same concept and apply it to the human race and Jesus Christ. We live in a world vying for our very souls and promising us many things that don't come anywhere near the price Jesus paid for us when he died on the cross. Who is the highest bidder staking claim of your life today? This is pastor Gary's message today.

The start of it all! In this episode, we begin with Act 1 of the first issue of Pulp Panic. The long term fate of Whakapapa ski field may be on the downward slide. In what it's described as a last chance saloon; the government's kicking another seven million dollars into the failing venture to keep it open for the 2024 season. Ruapehu Alpine Lifts which previously operated both the whakapapa and Turoa fields on Mount Ruapehu, has already had more than 20 million dollars in tax payer bailouts. RAL went into liquidation in June last year owing tens of millions of dollars. A deal with a new operator for the Turoa side of the mountain is imminent. But there seems to be no viable options for Whakapaka . Dave Mazey who runs Whakapapa Holdings speaks to Lisa Owen.

An Auckland A-League football franchise is expected for the 2024-25 season. The competition has confirmed American billionaire Bill Foley as the preferred bidder. Foley owns NHL ice hockey's Golden Knights and the Premier League's AFC Bournemouth. He told Mike Hosking that he believes they can be really successful by tapping into the New Zealand football market, and provide younger players with a pathway into professional sports. The 2023 housing market may be the “toughest real estate market” we've ever experienced. But, after this episode, we bet your home offer will get accepted, even during a wild seller's market, even if you're not offering the highest bid, and EVEN if this is your first time buying a home. While you may THINK that sellers always choose the “highest and best” offer that comes their way, we have a few experts to prove that that's rarely the case and how you can win even in an impossible housing market. First-time home buyers and veteran investors alike are feeling the sting from this never-ending sellers market. There are still more buyers than sellers, and bidding wars have come back into fashion. Thankfully, a few quick tips from today's expert agent, Lindsey Iskierka, and David Greene's own mortgage broker, Christian Bachelder, can help you win the home you love or your next cash-flowing, equity-boosting investment property. We'll walk through the five steps ANYONE (yes, even you) can take to put yourself in the BEST position to make a bid on a property, how your lender can ensure you DON'T get squeezed into paying more, and the biggest mistake new home buyers make that are costing them their dream home. Stick around because once you put these tips into practice, you could have too many accepted offers on your hands. In This Episode We Cover How to get your home offer accepted in 2023, EVEN if you're not the highest bidder Pre-qualification vs. pre-approval and why you CAN'T mistake the two Why you MUST call your lender before putting in ANY property offer (save THOUSANDS) The “rate stack” that could lead to a lower mortgage rate or a credit to closing costs The powerful negotiation tool that could land you tens of thousands at closing One common “hiccup” you MUST avoid when closing on your next property And So Much More!
