On this episode he talks playing in the Florida Classic for the first time, officially becoming the starter and dealing with an injury. We went on to discuss his experience being signed by the New York Jets, meeting guys like Mark Sanchez and Darrelle Revis and how he dealt with his career coming to an end on the field. He spoke about his transition to corporate America and how he was competing with candidates from all over the world in the engineering industry.     On this week's episode we have part one of our interview with Bethune-Cookman alum and Software Engineer Phillip Kirkland. On this episode he talks about growing up in a small city outside of Tallahassee Florida called Quincy. We discuss his early upbringing and how his love for academics started him down the path of wanting to be an engineer. Sports has been a part of his his life as far back as he could remember with his dad being a former athlete and a legendary coach in his community so it was just a matter of time before he got the bug. We went to discuss his high school experience starting at Shanks and moving over to East Gadsdens County before becoming one of the best players in the county. He details his recruitment and why he decided to accept an athletic scholarship to Bethune-Cookman University and what it was like spending his first two years playing behind future NFL-Pro Eric Weems.     On this week's episode we have Vanderbilt University Alum, author and wealth manager Reggie Ford. On this episode we talk about what it was like for him growing up in Nashville, Tennessee and some of the challenges he faced early on. He spoke about how being able to play in Vanderbilt University stadium in little league planted the seed that he could possibly play for that team one day. He went on to share how he was able to attend a prestigious high school and all of the success the football team had during his time there. We also spoke about the lack of knowledge he had about the recruiting process and ultimately how he turned down opportunities to play for Ivy League schools to stay at home and attend Vanderbilt University. Finally we discussed his time at Vandy, why he decided to working in wealth management and how his personal battle with PTSD lead to writing his first book. Experiencing the culture shock coming from Dayton to being on campus at the university of Illinois, facing adversity through 3 head coach changes in 6 months and having to make drastic changes in his senior season. Devastating injury that cost him an opportunity of getting drafted to later making his debut on Christmas against another Ohio native Ben Roethlisberger where he nearly recorded his first career sack. Such an amazing high followed by several lows before ultimately deciding to go back finish school and start the next chapter of his life.
