In this episode of the Thoughtful Entrepreneur, your host Josh Elledge speaks to the founder and CEO of https://sartorisdigital.com/ (Sartoris Digital), Nick Collins. Sartoris Digital helps their clients put their business in the ‘right time' and position to serve their ideal prospects. Nick and his team have worked with major companies such as Ford, AT&T, Johnson & Johnson, United, Wilson, and more. Sartoris has done a broad array of work for these larger companies over the years. Josh and Nick also discuss how Sartoris Digital helps to develop apps. Nick shares that everything Sartoris does is tailored to their clients. They go through an initial ‘fitting' process with their clients in order to determine their unique, individual needs. From there, Sartoris Digital will custom curate an online experience for their client that is significantly unique. Nothing Nick and his team does is ‘off the shelf' – which is why they decided to offer app development as a service. Their clients needed better ways to engage and connect with their communities. Applications offer unique, game-changing engagement opportunities between a company and its audience. Nick explains that his reputation and quality of work are what propelled Sartoris Digital into the massive success it has seen. Nick was fortunate enough to grow in his career by focusing on both design and engineering, which gave him an edge in his field. For the first five years Sartoris was in business, it did zero marketing. Their 7-figure business was purely word of mouth during that time. Nick shares an important principle; always, to the best of your ability, do what you say you will do, when you say you will do it. Overpromising and under delivering leaves a bad taste in everyone's mouth. Don't put yourself or your team in a position to miss deadlines because you want to sweeten the pot. Set realistic deadlines and make an effort to truly meet those obligations in order to build your reputation. Nick and Josh also talk about how to drive traffic to your business as a coach or consultant. As a coach, your business is almost solely based on reputation. He stresses to only put money into what will truly provide value to your clients. 80% of courses go unfinished because they don't offer the value the client is looking for. Every time you have someone drop off your programs or courses for this reason, it dings your reputation. Your priority should be to provide the most premium, high level value possible to your clients. If something isn't providing that value, or that specific program isn't a fit for a prospect, don't continue to sell that program. Selling with integrity will pay off because it will strengthen your reputation tenfold. Want to learn more? 4/28/21--This week on The Horse Race, we bring you some bittersweet news. Our very own, extremely talented, reporter and co-host extraordinaire, Stephanie Murray, will be joining us for just one more episode of The Horse Race! She has been promoted to a national position for Politico, so keep an eye out for her as the new author of The Morning Score. In other big #mapoli news, Massachusetts is making big reopening moves. New reopening guidelines include, effective May 29th,(dependent on public health and vaccination data) gathering limits will increase to 200 people indoors and 250 people outdoors; May 10th will bring the opening of amusement parks and water parks at 50% capacity; and on August 1st other industries will be permitted to open such as nightclubs, saunas, and ball pits (?). Jenn has been closely following the Boston mayoral race and analyzes the newest development, or lack thereof. State senator Nick Collins announced he will not be running for mayor of Boston. Many had speculated he might jump into the race, but his official decision not to run means in all likelihood, the race for Boston mayor will for the first time in history not include a white man. Steve sounds off on Secretary of the Commonwealth Bill Galvin's deflection on the question of whether he'll run for re-election. Galvin has been in office since 1995, and his response to the State House News Service that he "enjoy[s]" his job indicates he might run for an eighth term. -- New data from the 2020 Census is out this week. Some states' Congressional seats will change as a result, but Massachusetts will keep its same nine. Stephanie Murray explains what the data tells us about our districts and provides national context as well. -- In the wake of devastating mass shootings this year, a Massachusetts reporter looked into why the commonwealth's rates of gun deaths are the lowest in the country. Sarah Betancourt's Guardian article details the work of John Rosenthal, co-founder of Stop Handgun Violence, an organization that is in part responsible for the low gun death rates. She stopped by The Horse Race to tell us what gun restrictions contribute to our state's performance and explains in what other ways Massachusetts is in fact contributing to the gun violence epidemic.

Joining me in the Huddle this week is Will Blackmon. He played for several teams in the NFL like I did but had a plan for his transition after the league. Blackmon attended Bishop Hendricken HS in Rhode Island. At Hendricken, Blackmon earned 2001 All-America first-team honors from USA Today, ESPN.com, SuperPrep and PrepStar as a senior. He was named Gatorade Rhode Island Player of the Year after his senior season. He played college football for the Boston College and was drafted in the fourth round of the 2006 draft by the Green Bay Packers. We talked about many aspects of his life but one of the best stories was about when we played against each other in 2008. I was playing for the Vikings and Will was with the Packers. I do have to say that we still won the game despite a few interceptions. Will lost count of how many glasses of wine he consumed that November night in Minneapolis long ago, but he remembers that the name of the restaurant, a steakhouse downtown, was Seven. It was 2008, his third season in the NFL, and Blackmon, then a cornerback and return man with the Packers, was in town to play the Minnesota Vikings. Kickoff was slated for noon the next day, so the Saturday evening activities commenced with dinner among his fellow defensive backs. Charles Woodson, Nick Collins and Tramon Williams were all in attendance around the table. One glass led to another, and dinner led to a walk upstairs to a club, where wine continued to flow. By the time the quartet retired to the team’s hotel, Blackmon’s eyes were glassy but he felt coherent. He awoke the next morning “feeling like garbage,” and considered his rejuvenation options, like an IV, Red Bull or pre-game workout. But at the stadium, his partners in wine looked no worse for the wear. First, Woodson picked off a pass. Then, Williams poached one. Collins took back an interception 59 yards for a touchdown. Finally, Blackmon returned a punt 65 yards for a score. “It’s the craziest thing,” he says. “All four of us played super well that day. Since that day, I didn’t get wasted, but I would have a glass or two while studying my game plan, watch the Saturday night games before bed.” Thank you, Will for joining me in the Huddle and I wish you continued success in the wine business. Go to his website, https://thewinemvp.com and order some incredible wine from Will and let him fill up your wine fridge or cellar.

THE TALKBUSTER PODCAST - EPISODE #24 I worked at Blockbuster Video for almost 10 years, starting in 2001 (I was 17). The memories I made and friends I met there are some of the best of my life. On the Talkbuster Podcast I will discuss some of these memories with the coworkers and friends I shared them with. Hopefully you will find it as interesting to listen to as we did living it. In this Episode, I am honored to be joined by Nick Collins, creator of NOSTALGIA VIDEO. Nick built a video store in his basement, which was the subject of this viral youtube video that has been making the rounds the last couple of years: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=8OI-zCnVOGM&t=262s Nick and I had a great discussion about his video collection, the creation of Nostalgia Video and the various items he sells through their website. A particular favorite of mine are the customVHS cassettes for new films, where all you have to do is transfer your copy onto them and then you can have a film like KRAMPUS the way it was meant to be seen - with tracking lines! In what to date is the game of the year, the Vikings defeat the Packers, but barely, by squeaking out a remarkable 28-27 victory. The Vikings nearly threw away the game, literally when Gus Frerrotte made some pretty bad passes along the way, especially the one returned 59 yards for a TD by Nick Collins. Special teams coverage gives up yet another TD, and the second this season to Will Blackmon, who made a dumbo mistake earlier. Fortunately an emotional Adrian Peterson took this team on his back and willed them to victory with 225 total yards, and on a remarkable drive in the game's final minutes. What was too close for comfort though was the 52 yard miss by Mason Crosby in the game's final seconds to seal the victory.
