Did Prosecutors IGNORE Key Evidence to Protect Someone in Delphi Case? Was there ever a real search for the truth in the Delphi case, or were investigators just playing a game of legal Twister, contorting themselves to fit one narrative while ignoring key evidence? The latest revelations bring back Ron Logan's alleged confession, the strange behavior of Kegan Klein, and a justice system that seemingly had selective hearing. Why did Ricky Davis, an inmate with no apparent incentive, claim that Logan confessed to him back in 2017—only to have investigators shrug it off like an unwanted jury summons? And what about the allegations that Logan and Klein were exchanging disturbing material? If true, that would make the connections between these men far more than just circumstantial. Psychotherapist and author Shavaun Scott joins Tony Brueski to dive into the psychology of false confessions, manipulation, and the unsettling motives at play. Were authorities blinded by bias, or is this just a tangled mess of coincidences that happen to look like a cover-up? #DelphiMurders #TrueCrime #HiddenKillers #RichardAllen #KeganKlein #RonLogan #CrimePsychology Want to listen to ALL of our podcasts AD-FREE? Send Kris and Rob a Text Message! The Jane Anker Hylton Case: A Tale of Justice, Injustice, and DNA ExonerationIn the quiet suburb of Sacramento, California, on a fateful night in July 1978, Jane Anker Hylton, a 30-year-old mother of three, was brutally murdered. The heinous crime not only devastated her family but also sparked a decades-long saga that would eventually highlight both the fallibility and the power of the justice system. This is a story of a wrongful conviction, a determined quest for the truth, and the ultimate role of DNA evidence in righting a grievous wrong. The CrimeJane Anker Hylton was found dead in her home, having been stabbed multiple times. The community was horrified, and the police were under immense pressure to solve the case quickly. Suspicion soon fell on Ricky Davis, who lived in the house the night of the murder. Davis, along with his girlfriend, Connie Dahl, were arrested and charged with Hylton's murder. The Wrongful ConvictionIn 1985, Ricky Davis was convicted of the murder based largely on the testimony of his girlfriend, who had struck a plea deal. Dahl testified that Davis had confessed to the crime, a claim Davis vehemently denied. Despite the lack of physical evidence directly linking Davis to the murder, he was sentenced to 16 years to life in prison. Davis maintained his innocence, but his pleas fell on deaf ears. It wasn't until decades later, with advances in DNA technology, that the possibility of exoneration emerged. The Role of DNA EvidenceIn the early 2000s, the Northern California Innocence Project took up Davis's case.  DNA testing on the evidence from the crime scene revealed the presence of an unknown male profile that did not match Davis or any other suspects initially considered by the police. With this new evidence, the Sacramento County District Attorney's Office agreed to re-investigate the case. In 2020, after serving over 14 years in prison for a crime he did not commit, Ricky Davis was exonerated and released. The Real KillerThe DNA evidence not only exonerated Davis but also pointed to a new suspect, Michael Green. Green had never been considered a suspect in the original investigation but had lived in the area at the time of the murder. In 2020, Michael Green was arrested and charged with the murder of Jane Anker Hylton. He later pleaded guilty, bringing a long-overdue sense of justice and closure to Hylton's family.Subscribe and Stay TunedFor more gripping true crime stories, subscribe to Hitched 2 Homicide. And this evidence would change everything.  Forensic genealogy showed that Ricky was innocent – and someone else entirely was to blame for Jane's vicious murder.  To listen to every episode of DNA: ID ad-free and get other benefits, simply  visit our channel page on Apple Podcasts to get started with an AbJack Insider subscription. Genetic genealogy has the potential to solve up to 90% of crimes including cold cases that have gone unsolved for decades. We first witnessed the power of this technology in the case of the Golden State Killer (GSK) in 2020. But it's more than just a tool for identifying perpetrators: genetic genealogy transforms how - and how quickly - crimes can be solved, and it accelerates both justice and potential healing for survivors of those crimes. In this episode we explore the impact of genetic genealogy with survivors of GSK Gay Hardwick and Kris Pedretti, as well as retired Sacramento County D.A. Anne Marie Schubert who led the investigation of the GSK case, to understand how solving this cold case after more than 40 years of silence has transformed their lives and how it will potentially change the future for all. This episode includes a discussion about sexual violence and homicide.Gay Hardwick Advocate, Sexual Assault Survivor Gay Hardwick is a former Marketing Director for a Real Estate Development firm, a retired California Elementary School Teacher, and a survivor of the Golden State Killer. Ms. Hardwick has been an outspoken supporter of sexual assault survivors, both on social media, in televised interviews, and in the HBO documentary, I'll be Gone in the Dark. She has participated in the Sacramento Victims' Rights Coalition, and police department training in Elk Grove, California. Ms. Hardwick's goals are to alleviate the silence and shame that victims of sexual assault take on as they move through the legal system or suffer in isolation as their cases remain unresolved. In conjunction with Kris Pedretti, her fellow survivor, Ms. Hardwick helps moderate the Facebook site, Sexual Assault Survivors, It's Time to Tell Your Story. Kris Pedretti Survivor Advocate & Educator , Sexual Assault Survivors Kris Pedretti was 15 years old on December 18, 1976, when she became Victim #10 and was raped multiple times by the Golden State Killer. After refusing several requests to discuss her attack publicly, and undergoing much therapy, Ms. Pedretti found her voice with the positive support from friends and the community. She participated in television interviews and documentaries on the GSK stating that it was freeing for her to say out loud, “This happened to me.” Today, Ms. Pedretti has started a support group for sexual assault survivors, a private Facebook group titled “Sexual Assault Survivors: It is Time to Tell Your Story.” She also began hosting monthly gatherings for sexual assault survivors. Ms. Pedretti also speaks with groups and individuals to take away the stigma of sexual assault on victims. She believes deeply if we stand together, we can take back the control of our bodies and our lives. Anne Marie Schubert Strategic Advisor, Government Affairs, Verogen Anne Marie Schubert has over 32 years of law enforcement experience and is a nationally recognized expert in forensic DNA. She was elected District Attorney for Sacramento County, California in 2014 and served in this capacity until December 2022. Notably, in 2018, her office led the investigation and prosecution of Joseph DeAngelo, the “Golden State Killer using Forensic Investigative Genetic Genealogy (FIGG). Since the arrest of DeAngelo, her team has used FIGG to identify the NorCal Rapist, unidentified human remains and partnered with the California Innocence Project to exonerate Ricky Davis after 15 years of wrongful conviction. Today, she is nationally recognized in her knowledge of forensic DNA and has trained law enforcement across the world on the use of Forensic investigative Genetic Genealogy (FiGG) to solve violent crime, exonerate the innocent and identify human remains.

Ricky Davis, a 12 year NBA vet, joins Jordan Daly, Craig Smith, and Mike Taylor for Episode 3 of the Underdogs Podcast. Being drafted at only 17 years young, Ricky was often misunderstood by fans, media, and front office staff. In this episode, Ricky breaks down some of the moments that lead to that stigma, finally letting his side of the story be heard. To start off, Ricky talks about his trend-setting one and done year at Iowa, leading into his early years in Charlotte after being drafted. He talks about early medical issues he faced with his foot that not many people knew about. After a change of scenery to Cleveland, Ricky finally starts finding his groove, when the next season LeBron James is drafted to the team. He talks about butting heads with coach Paul Silas about a misunderstanding of how LeBron was being treated. Even after LeBron defends Ricky, the Cavs traded Ricky almost immediately. Ricky also gets into his famous triple double attempt, where he got the nickname "Wrong Way Rick". Mike, Craig, and Ricky also reflect on the years they spent together with either the LA Clippers or the Minnesota Timberwolves. They also reflect on the past summer they all spent together on the Ghost Ballers in Ice Cube's BIG3 Basketball League. Ricky also tells some stories of what it was like playing with guys like Kevin Garnett and Paul Pierce. This episode brought to light how there are always two sides to every story, and to make sure you have all of the facts before you make an assumption. This is Stephen Schmidt from the Gazette digital news desk and I'm here with your update for Friday, July 30. The weather is going to be a bit weird Friday. Widespread haze caused by massive forest fires on the west coast could thicken into areas of smoke after 4 p.m. When the sun does poke its way through, it is expected to be partly sunny, with a high near 81 degrees. Showers and thunderstorms are likely Friday night into Saturday morning, but rainfall is not expected to be significant except in areas of thunderstorm development. Jury deliberations that appeared headed for a mistrial instead brought emotions of relief for Chris Bagley's family Thursday, as a jury eventually found Drew Blahnik guilty of his killing. The jury deliberated for nearly three days before finding Blahnik, https://www.thegazette.com/crime-courts/savage-stabbing-of-chris-bagley-was-planned-and-calculated-prosecutor-says/ (originally charged with first-degree murder), guilty of the lesser charge of second-degree murder in the 2018 killing. Jurors also found him guilty as charged of obstruction of prosecution and abuse of a corpse. About an hour after they started Thursday morning, jurors sent a note to 6th Judicial District Judge Christopher Bruns, saying they were deadlocked because one juror wasn't following the court's instructions and the law. They said they took a vote and it was 11-1. They initially said further deliberations wouldn't help. But Judge Bruns, after talking with defense lawyers and prosecutors, sent a note back telling the jurors to continue deliberations to reach a unanimous verdict. The jury informed the court attendant it had a verdict after 3:30 p.m. Iowa City police charged Andre Roberts Jr., 19, of Cedar Rapids after police https://www.thegazette.com/crime-courts/police-investigating-shots-fired-in-downtown-iowa-city-on-ped-mall/ (said he fired several shots at the Iowa City Pedestrian Mall on July 25). He was charged with attempted murder, use of a dangerous weapon in the commission of a crime, intimidation with a dangerous weapon and carrying dangerous weapons while being ineligible to do so. Police said the shooter fired several shots in an alley behind the Fieldhouse bar at about 1:10 a.m., striking a 24-year-old woman and 17-year-old man. Both sustained non-life-threatening injuries, according to police. The shooting occurred hours after the Iowa City Downtown Block Party concluded. Police said the investigation into the shooting continues as it searches for others involved. On Thursday night Joe Wieskamp and Luka Garza became the first two Iowa Hawkeyes drafted by NBA teams in the same year since 1998. Both were taken in the second round of the NBA Draft. Wieskamp, a 6-foot-7 forward, decided to turn professional after his junior season with the Hawkeyes. He was taken by the San Antonio Spurs with the 41st pick of the draft. Garza, the National Player of the Year in his senior season after surprising some by spurning the NBA to return to Iowa City, went 52nd, to the Detroit Pistons. Iowa has not had a player selected in the first round since Ricky Davis, also in 1998. With the Iowa football season rapidly approaching, there will be more Hawkeye news to come soon. In this special New Year's edition of the podcast, Rob and Dave are joined by Tom white from Salford city chiropractic and Ricky Davis from Summit well-being in London. They discuss some of the cases in clinic this week sharing great insights into their initial consultation process and how this lays the foundation for collaborative work between the therapist and patient on the journey to recovery. It's always about the formulation of a tailored approach that's right for each patient that supports their physical and mental wellbeing as they make incremental steps towards their final goal.   KEY TAKEAWAYS When someone has pain and stops doing things then the body can get used to not moving You can use the examination to help patients to see what they can do. Even if you can't do your chosen activity now you can move towards it. It's all about the small wins and incremental progress towards your final goal. The definition of health and well-being is the physical, mental and social wellbeing of an individual. Even when you are in pain it's about finding what movement you can do in the right way whilst the pain and injury heals to get you back to where you want to be. The goal of a therapist is to find things you can do that will develop strength and resilience People are good at self-healing but a therapist can offer expert advice and expertise. The first consultation session is about education, discussing what's going on and that pain isn't something to be feared. If you are having a consultation ask as many questions as you need. Know and understand exactly what the plan is It's about a tailored approach that's right for each patient. It's a collaborative approach between the therapist and the patient.   BEST MOMENTS ‘To go from having back pain for 5 years to having a pain free walk in 6 weeks is very positive' ‘It's meeting the patients and managing  their thoughts, fears and expectations' ‘Movement is what is going to help'   VALUABLE RESOURCES The Back Pain Podcast The Back Pain Podcast recommended products affiliate link   ABOUT THE HOSTS Dave Elliot Dave is the owner of Advanced Chiropractic, a chain of Chiropractic and massage therapy clinics in Essex, UK. Discover today how your back pain when cycling can be eliminated with a simple bike fit. Today we are joined by Ricky Davis, chiropractor and bike fitter who explains the critical importance bike fitting can have on your comfort and performance on the bike whether you're a lifelong cyclist or just starting out. Ricky shares some key exercises for improving your strength in and out the saddle and why getting that fine balance is extremely important. KEY TAKEAWAYS There's a 50/50 split for acute trauma injuries on a bike e.g. falling off and fracturing something, and then the chronic overuse and pain. Disc overload or disk anti-pressure can often cause the sciatic nerve troubles close to that area and they can refer down and into the legs. Not only is there mechanical pressure in the saddle but also the lower back, making many people fear cycling. There are specific stretches and techniques for cycling and mobility. Certain yoga poses such as ‘Pigeon Pose' whereby you stretch through your hips. As well as strengthening exercises like ‘Dead Bugs' which are an amazing core exercise whilst in a peddling movement, coupled with one-legged glute exercises. The majority of the issues related to lower bike pain in connection with bike fitting is that somebody can be too low in terms of the front end of the bike meaning they're putting excess stress onto the lower part of the back or they are too high on a road bike you have to have a balance between the two. If you are first getting into cycling, getting a bike fitted correctly to you will change your view on cycling. If you go cycling without this, and find it painful it will put you off. Pain is the biggest limiter of success on a bike as you are not able to do what you love to do. You can increase performance with a good bike fit. The reason you will be faster and perform is that if your muscles are in the right ranges then all your power from your glutes will be going into the pedal. If everything is working as it should, we can improve on things.   BEST MOMENTS “People think that's just a normal feeling, that is just cycling but it is not, you don't need to be feeling this stuff.” “These are going to be invaluable to strengthen you off of the bike as well.” “Discomfort will be the thing that limits you the most.”   VALUABLE RESOURCES The Back Pain Podcast Free Sciatica guide: www.thebackpainpodcast.com  John Thomson The McKenzie Institute website   Links To Exercises (valuable resources) https://www.google.co.uk/url?sa=t&rct=j&q=&esrc=s&source=web&cd=&ved=2ahUKEwjD6fOP5tjpAhWiVBUIHXpaDdwQFjASegQIAhAB&url=https%3A%2F%2Fwww.yogajournal.com%2Fpractice%2Fpigeon-pose&usg=AOvVaw1ZkTLlhHMLjt__eqJFXZsB https://www.google.co.uk/url?sa=t&rct=j&q=&esrc=s&source=web&cd=&ved=2ahUKEwjE95uc5tjpAhUOTRUIHQH_DjkQFjAYegQIAhAB&url=https%3A%2F%2Fwww.coachmag.co.uk%2Fabs-workouts%2F6384%2Fthe-dead-bug-exercise&usg=AOvVaw1rLBC515ZAVnvhY62ZGzsU https://www.google.co.uk/url?sa=t&rct=j&q=&esrc=s&source=web&cd=&ved=2ahUKEwiv7aio5tjpAhVQZxUIHVCABXsQwqsBMB96BAgLEAQ&url=https%3A%2F%2Fwww.youtube.com%2Fwatch%3Fv%3Db9bHy3ojQWA&usg=AOvVaw2O3Ki5ZxGpAyeL1Lm3vPC5     ABOUT THE HOSTS Dave Elliot Dave is the owner of Advanced Chiropractic, a chain of Chiropractic and massage therapy clinics in Essex, UK. IOWA CITY, Iowa – If you drove the lane against Iowa in the early 1990s, you dealt with Acie Earl. And often times, he sent your shot right back to you free of charge. The shot-blocker from Moline (IL) High won Big Ten Defensive Player of the Year honors as a junior and still holds the school record for career blocked shots (365). He was more than a one trick pony, however. His 1,779 points rank third all-time on the school leader board behind only Roy Marble and Aaron White. His 811 rebounds put him seventh in Hawkeye history. The Boston Celtics drafted Earl in the first round and 19th overall in the 1993 NBA Draft. He and Ricky Davis, who went 21st in ’98, were the only Iowa first-round picks since ’90. We caught up with Earl for our latest Hawkeye History podcast, during which he talked about what he’s doing these days and his time at Iowa, including playing for Dr. Tom Davis and his friendship with the late Chris Street. In this week's episode, we're featuring the fourth album from a staple at the legendary Broken Spoke Dancehall in Austin, TX - Weldon Henson, and his sensational "Honky Tonk Frontier" (2015). Henson and his band have held down the popular "Two-Steppin' Tuesday" slot at the Spoke for some time now, regularly packing in several hundred of Austin's best dancers. It's no surprise then, that his music is primed to dance to - telecaster and steel-driven original "Texas made honky tonk" as Weldon Henson himself calls it. And speaking of steel - "Honky Tonk Frontier" was recorded at Cherry Ridge Studios in Floresville, TX: owned by Tommy Detamore, an accomplished steel guitarist himself, and featuring co-production by the steeler on the record itself in Ricky Davis. With that much C6 & E9 influence in the control room and in the studio, you know you're in for some hardcore traditional country music. Featuring Weldon's regular road band on the album was a smart move too.. these guys gel wonderfully. Highlights include the pumping "Heartache Game", a pair of good old drinking songs in "Hey Bottle Of Whiskey" and "I Need Wine" and the almost wistful "Just Believe". Can't wait for Weldon Henson's next effort.

Oliver Maroney, basketball writer for Dime on Uproxx and host of The Big3 Show, calls in to discuss the Big3 tour just as it concludes its regular season and prepares for Sunday’s semifinal round in Seattle. Maroney gets into the business and marketing side of things, while also, of course, delving into the basketball issues at play. For instance, we’ll find out which team is most likely to challenge the undefeated Trilogy squad and whom he favors to take home the inaugural MVP trophy. Just a one-year novelty experiment? Oliver thinks not. He argues that this league has staying power. Listen to find out why that is.3:24-3:41: “Obviously there’s nostalgia involved, but I think people are just overlooking the fact that this is a competitive basketball league and not just something where retired players go to play. This is something a little bit more than that. They’ve got camaraderie, all the players enjoy each other, and it’s just very different from your normal NBA atmosphere.”12:10-13:57: “The players love it because that’s the 1990s way. [In] 1980s, 1990s NBA basketball, hand-checking wasn’t allowed and there was more physical play allowed, and now you get to this day and age where players are paid $200 million-plus over five or six years, and teams want to keep their guys healthy, so the only way to kind of eliminate injuries is by just making it a non-contact sport, which it’s almost essentially become…This league, it’s completely the opposite…They’ve tried to take it back a little bit. They’ve tried to make it more physical, and I think you can tell on the floor. When you’re standing there or at the game, you can tell. It’s just so much more physical. It’s a cross between kind of like a boxing match and an NBA game from the 1990s, just because players are really going at it, they’re yelling at each other, the arguing’s there. The competitive nature of these players is still all intact, and they don’t hold back.”17:06-18:02: “The team game or the team aspect of this is much more vocal than it is movement-based I think. A lot of this is communication, because these players need to know that if they are going to go 1-on-1, how are they going to set their teammates up for the best offensive possession. You need to set picks at the right moment. It’s very precise. You watch Mahmoud Abdul-Rauf, and you see kind of like how he plays the game. It is very precise. He’s watching everybody on the court at one time essentially…I was talking with Marcus Banks about this, who was playing against him this weekend. He just said, ‘That guy has basketball IQ that’s unlike any other.’ And I think you can definitely tell that on the floor and players know that much more when you’re playing 3-on-3 versus 5-on-5 because they’re held accountable defensively and offensively.”20:30-21:29: “Obviously, some of them, they came off not playing basketball for a season or two, so do they have to get their bodies back to where it was? Sure. But when you look at a guy like Ricky Davis, he’s been working out ever since he got out of the NBA and hasn’t stopped. They still continue to grind. I don’t think people understand [this]: When you’re in the NBA or when you’re in any professional sport for that matter, you love the game, and you have a passion for it more than just about anybody else that you know, and if you don’t do that anymore, it feels weird. Most of these players, they talk about it. Being retired is strange. What do you do with your time? How do you deal with yourself? So they go back to what they know, which is working out, playing basketball. Most of these guys play pick-up basketball. Most guys work out multiple times a day.Learn more about your ad choices.
