    Don't Sleep On Sleep Apnea

    Perhaps we've just accepted sleep apnea as some minor health situation that some deal with that is easily remedied by a breathing machine and some meds... When in fact, sleep apnea is yet another indicator that your body is not functioning properly. Thankfully, when it comes to obstructive sleep apnea, there is a lot you can do to potentially correct the lifestyle that leads to this condition. The question is, will you? Keep in mind...a machine and meds may protect you from some of the symptoms, but the problem is still there. And it's still hurting you until you correct your lifestyle.

On the other hand, there's no doubt that exercising - meaning, engaging in a formal workout program of some kind - is very beneficial to our health, and enables us to live 'better.' This is scientifically proven, and, quite frankly, visibly obvious. The main need of the physical body is MOVEMENT, and way more than the average person is used to.     What I have learned from tracking my steps with a Fitbit

    Basically, I'm averaging somewhere between 9500-11000 steps a day, and while I do go on formal walks from time to time, that's mainly from not sitting down unless I have to work, and from just being active overall. How many of your daily activities involve you staying seated? You're not designed to sit down all the time. Clean your house, cut your grass, maintain your garden, play with your kids, get some fresh air...make movement a natural part of your life and I guarantee you that 10,000 steps a day will be easy. Having extra weight is the result of consuming more energy than your body uses, and eating processed food, among other things. The healthiest way to lose weight is to develop discipline over your diet, exercise (movement), sleep habits, and overall lifestyle such that you consume real food and you use more energy than you consume.
