This week, we're going to get into 1992's Split Second. We feel like this movie has to follow its own set of rules. Is it low-budget? You betcha. Does it have more cheese than an unwashed belly-button? Absolutely. Is it great? Hell fucking yes! This movie has a lot of problems, but it's from a bygone era where the VHS ruled the landscape, and this is a perfect late-night watch despite its shortcomings. Why are we doing this then? Because we need a control in the experiment that allows us to keep flushing TC 2000 down the toilet. Hauer's Harley hassles harlots, hoping the heart-stealer in hiding's hellacious hackles hear his heroism! Hogtie the bad guy! Heart blood trails! Really sneak Venomorphs! Oops all coconut? Strip club English breakfast! Durkin Dick breaches the door too quick! Unrealistic armadas! 60 ducklings worth of Dawn! A little extra turtle to it, and much, much more on this week's episode of The Worst Movie Ever Made! www.theworstmovieevermade.com
Przywitanie z widzami i słuchaczami (Paweł Typiak, Mateusz Fidut, Mateusz Zdanowicz).[02:16] - Co usłyszymy w nowym GnM Plus? Śmieszne cytaty z branży (szef Take-Two o GTA 6 i Todd Howard).[04:08] - Olbrzymie plany finansowe CD Projekt (5 miliardów zł zysku do 2030 r.) i dyskusja o Projekcie Hadar – w jakim uniwersum powinna być nowa gra Redów?[08:20] - Intrygujące przecieki o nowym, niezapowiedzianym dodatku do Wiedźmina 3.[09:21] - Rekordowy zwiastun nowego filmu Spider-Man i dyskusja o oczekiwaniach na grę Wolverine od Insomniac Games.[11:47] - The Boys i Invincible (Niezwyciężony) – zachwyty nad brutalnymi produkcjami o superbohaterach od Amazona.[15:38] - Najdziwniejszy gadżet od Nintendo. Paweł testuje "gadającego kwiatka" z Super Mario Bros. Wonder.[23:05] - RECENZJA: SCREAMER. Genialna zręcznościowa ścigałka z niesamowitą muzyką, wymagającym sterowaniem i trybem podzielonego ekranu.[39:51] - WRAŻENIA: CRIMSON DESERT.

Perhaps the most original take on time travel in 50 years. One of the top 100 paid books in the Kindle store for over seven months. From the master of near-future thrillers. What if you found a way to send something back in time? But not weeks, days, or even minutes back. What if you could only send something back a fraction of a second? Would this be of any use? You wouldn't have nearly enough time to right a wrong, change an event, or win a lottery.Nathan Wexler is a brilliant physicist who thinks he's found a way to send matter a split second back into the past. But before he can even confirm his findings, he and his wife-to-be, Jenna Morrison, find themselves in a battle for their very lives. Because while time travel to an instant earlier seems useless, Jenna comes to learn that no capability in history has ever been more profound or far-reaching.Now, as Jenna fights to defeat the powerful forces arrayed against her, nothing less than the fate of humanity hangs in the balance. . .SPLIT SECOND is a roller-coaster ride of a thriller, one that will have readers pondering the nature of time, and of reality, long after they've read the last page.Support this show http://supporter.acast.com/houseofmysteryradio. We dive into maybe the most boring 90s future apocalypse action flick we've ever seen. Not even a crazy practical effects monster can save it.
Myths and legends are a massive part of our culture. We have the original versions of them that still stay with us, mostly intact, but because of how important and well known they are we're always getting new versions of them that are changed and added to to reflect our contemporary culture. Big stories like King Arthur, Robin Hood, Beowulf, the Odyssey, The Journey to the West and many other stories keep getting new versions in our modern world. The Greek myths beings quite old, very detailed, and well written get a LOT of different versions, which has been happening since antiquity. Even the Romans like Ovid revised them, his versions were made to reflect his own cultural and political realities. Most recently there's the Nolan version of the Odyssey coming out. Some are annoyed at the various non-white people in certain roles, but that's a trend that's been popular for about 30-40 years or so and simply reflects our modern diverse cultural and ethnic makeup. The only thing that irks me are the stupid costumes and reinterpretation of the armour, but also the silly commentary concerning it- on one hand you have supporters of the crude fantasy styles in the film and on the other supporters of ancient Mycenaean styles. The thing is though that Ancient Greeks ALWAYS depicted their mythological figures armoured like hoplites (or naked), with Corinthian helmets. That wasn't a case of them showing the figures in contemporary fashions either- hundreds of years after those styles were dead they were still used for the characters. So there was never a need to reinterpret them OR imagine them in archaic "historically accurate" styles, they should always be shown as classical Greek warriors. /rant Beowulf shows up in various ways, there are direct and indirect interpretations. One of the interesting aspects is that people use the monster, Grendel, for their indirect interpretations- Everything from Friday the 13th (the first one), to Frankenstein (at least as an inspiration to the various adaptations), Jaws, The 13th Warrior, Split Second (a monster in futuristic flooded London), you could even include Predator and Alien. Journey to the West is a very important story to many cultures in eastern Asia because it's tied closely with Buddhism and the spread of that religion on the continent. It was important to me when I grew up with endless TV repeats of the dubbed Japanese series Monkey Magic, starring Masaaki Sakai, Japanese pop sensation (The Spiders), and perennial charismatic TV personality. It featured comedy, endless fighting with demons and monsters, and the retelling of various stories. This version was so popular that people have remade it rather than just the myth itself, and it's inspired films and TV shows with the costumes it used for the characters. Many others now know the myth through the Dragon Ball anime and Manga, with Goku as the Monkey King. Disney's anthro version of Robin Hood had a gigantic impact on the creation of furry culture. The King Arthur myth, focussing on the heroic journey of a random, scruffy orphan into a prophesied king of a nation shows up everywhere in fantasy and Scifi, examples include Star Wars and the fantasy series The Belgariad and Malloreon by David Eddings and many others, including more direct versions like Monty Python's Quest for the Holy Grail, Disney's Sword in the Stone, and the fantastic Excalibur. The Jewish myth of David and the giant Goliath show up over and over in things too because of the focus on an underdog who triumphs despite huge odds and then goes on to become a famous ruler. What are your fave myths that keep on inspiring popular culture (directly and indirectly), and what is your fave version? This week we have another best off from Gunwallace and this time it's - Ripping off King Arthur - We're all preparing for the big event here with this theme. It's a weird mixture of a Rocky theme, fantasy epic, and 8 bit video game music… as if were were about to see a pixelated, medieval fantasy themed version of Mortal Kombat! The fight showdown to end all fight showdowns! - I chose this because it mentions King Arthur, a mythical figure. Originally from: Quackcast 451, 4th of Nov, 2019. A young doctor faces a choice: wait in line after a lecture or go to the pub. He waits. Fast forward, he's on a plane to Papua New Guinea. He arrives expecting malaria research—but finds 25% of ICU beds filled with snakebite victims. Professor David Lalloo didn't plan to dedicate his life to one of the world's most neglected health crises. He stumbled into it. What happens when the thing that defines you is taken away in a single moment? On this episode of The Roller Coaster Podcast, I sit down with Mahi Crabbe, a former full-time musician who nearly lost his life in a brutal rock-crawling accident that crushed his hand and shattered his identity as an artist on November 3, 2018.In a matter of seconds, Mahi went from touring and playing sold-out shows to lying in an ambulance, convinced his career was over. The injury didn't just threaten his ability to play guitar, it forced him to confront deeper questions about purpose, faith, manhood, and how to provide for the family he always dreamed of building. We talk about the night everything changed, the fear of starting over, the anger he carried toward God, and how losing his “guitar hand” ultimately led him to build an entirely new life as a business owner and father. If you've ever had your plans ripped away, your identity shaken, or your faith tested, this conversation will hit home.Watch this episode to see how losing everything became the beginning of something bigger.Key Moments:0:00 The Day I Lost My Hand3:02 My Hand Was Hanging By Skin6:05 Life Flashing Before My Eyes9:10 “That's His Guitar Hand”12:36 Waking Up, My Identity Was Gone15:32 I Couldn't Be A Musician Anymore18:39 From Hospital Bed To Truck Driver21:30 Growing Up Without A Father24:23 Becoming The Man I Never Had26:50 The Night That Changed My Faith29:40 From Leaving Church To Returning33:03 Why God Took My Hand35:41 My Family Came Back To Church37:55 From Homeless To Business Owner40:14 Why Hawaii Heals The Soul42:49 My Message To Every Man WatchingGuest Info:IG: @mahilive (https://www.instagram.com/mahilive/)

At its core, Force Science empowers professionals with research-driven insights that answer the questions most agencies struggle with: What did the officer perceive? Why did they react the way they did? And how does science help us explain it?Near the end of the episode, the team shares details about their marquee annual event—

Is violence caused by “bad people,” too many guns, or something deeper? In this episode, University of Chicago researcher Jens Ludwig reveals why most violent acts stem not from evil intent but from ordinary people in unforgiving situations. We explore how behavior, context, metacognition, and split-second decision-making shape violent outcomes — and why small, scalable interventions like pocket parks, foot traffic, and reflective thinking can dramatically reduce harm. If you care about safer communities, more innovative policymaking, or just want to understand human behavior better, our conversation with Jens will forever reshape how you view violence. Childhood stuttering forced him to think succinctly, shaping his ability to make quick decisions. He teaches that making decisions is more important than waiting for the "perfect answer". In this episode, Dr. Geoffrey Mount Varner explains the importance of quick decisions over the 'freeze', the concept of time and stress, and how trusting that all experiences, including hardships, are part of a larger journey for personal growth and benefit, is paramount for success. Qualified immunity shields all government officials from suit when the constitutional rights they violate are not “clearly established.” Yet the public conversation often centers on police officers. Supreme Court cases on the doctrine frequently involve split-second law enforcement decisions, and when Congress considered reform in the George Floyd Justice in Policing Act of 2020, its focus was again on police, excluding other officials. How should we think about qualified immunity in the policing context versus other government contexts, particularly when officials are not acting under urgent time pressure? Should there be a single, uniform standard, or should the doctrine be tailored to the circumstances faced by the defendant? And if tailoring is appropriate, should that responsibility rest with the political branches rather than the courts?Join us for a discussion on the origins, evolution, and future of qualified immunity—and bring your questions.Featuring:Elliott Averett, Attorney, Bryan Cave Leighton Paisner LLPWilliam Most, Attorney, Most & Associates(Moderator) Anya Bidwell, Attorney, Institute for Justice
We'd signed off. Thanked everyone. Sam Daish was probably ready to start his day in Auckland, and we were wrapping up what had already been a dense conversation about AI in sales. But then Chris started talking about something he calls "micro pivoting" - those split-second adjustments that separate elite salespeople from everyone else - and none of us wanted to hang up. What followed was Chris dissecting the athletic nature of top sales performance, using Cherryl Turner's cold calling mastery as a case study. The insight about how elite reps make tiny voice and timing adjustments that most of us would never notice, and how those microscopic moments determine whether a conversation continues or dies. This wasn't planned content - it was pure discovery happening in real time, the kind of conversation that makes you realize the real secrets are hiding in plain sight. Sometimes the best episodes happen when you think you're done recording.

In this episode, host John Duffin interviews Ken Jordan. Ken is the Branch Manager, Loan Officer for the Premier Mortgage Team at Princeton Mortgage. We delve into various topics related to achieving early business success, including insights from Ken's experience navigating an earlier restaurant career. Lots of cursing, crying, and yelling (think Gordon Ramsay). Don't miss Ken & JD discussing the significance of sales skills received from Ken's Yellow Pages experience, and the principles of running a business where continuous learning is paramount. Pay particular attention to Ken's split-second decision in shifting his rituals and "joining" the 5 AM Club. You'll find that timing (and action) equate to significant results. Ken highlights the impacts of his 'Big 3' traits—skill set, mindset, and habits—and how these traits drive him to stronger relationships and increased success. Additional takeaways include the importance of surrounding yourself with inspiring people, trying new things, and finding happiness through progress rather than mere attainment. I am a huge fan and a friend of Ken Jordan. In addition to being a highly influential money man, Ken also hosts a series of podcasts (I have been fortunate to guest on Ken's "Selling the Dream" podcast). Ken is currently also hosting a series of mini-podcasts (five minutes, three questions) which are well worth your attention. The episode references a preview of Ken's upcoming quarterly workbook, designed to help you track and encourage your growth. If you're able, make sure to grab a copy.
