Trail Running Women
E73 Anne-Marie: Train hard, live happy

Trail Running Women

Anne-Marie Madden is a Vancouver based trail and road runner. She trains as hard as she works, and the proof is in the races. She recently came 2nd at the Northface 50 Mile Championship and 1st place at the Squamish 23km. In 2018 when the Northface Championship was cancelled she was able to shift gears last minute and run an Olympic qualifying time for a road marathon at 2:42:18. She finds that being outside keeps her happy and helps balance the more hectic and stressful aspects of work life. She is humble, down to earth, and offers great advice that everyone from experts to beginners can benefit from.  More from AM @am.madden Photo credit: Philipp Reiter

Lift Heavy Run Long Podcast - Inspire. Be Inspired.

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=e2-uwv1HXtM&feature=youtu.be This week on the Lift Heavy Run Long® Podcast it was just the hosts. Everybody's favorite cameraman, "Keto" Chris Perry, has been lining us up with some unbelievable guests over the past few months. We decided that it would be fun to take a break, sit back, and enjoy one another's company for an episode. We talk about everything from miscalculated marathons, upcoming races like the Sylamore 25K/50K and Tunnel Hill 50Mile/100Mile race.  We talk about my being referred to as an "ass-hat" by a Lift Heavy Run Long reader, and we congratulate Amanda on her accomplishing her goal of running a 50Mile race and deadlifting 300 pounds. We also veer off into some random hypothetical scenarios. As usual, nothing is too serious and we just have a good time. This podcast is so important to me, on so many levels. I really appreciate you, as a listener, tuning in and being so supportive. I also appreciate the hosts who put up with me and continue to be willing to record every week. It is a real commitment to making time outside of work and family to put this thing on, and I appreciate all of you who participate and encourage. Let's make it a great day! Enjoy the show. Peace, Love, and all things Beef related, Beefcake

So a couple days a week I'm working some key exercises that interest me at the moment: Front Squats Goblet Squats Jump Rope Dead Hang starting position Hollow Pull-Up The front squats I'm new to and only get to practice this movement on days I get to visit the office gym. Otherwise I practice the goblet squats using a dumb bell at home. The jump rope is my indulgence exercise. I LOVE JUMP ROPE! Lastly, when I'm not sitting around or jumping around, I'm literally hanging around building up time holding the starting position of a pull-up or a dead hang and while in hollow position.   Check out "The 'Best' Upper Body Pull" on Strongfirst.com by Pavel Tsatsouline. http://www.strongfirst.com/the-best-upper-body-pull/ Family & Play:Ironically while in between building strength, I'm getting hurt. I have a history of back injury. A couple times in the past week I've done improper lifting either of a child or some free weight, which cause some back twinge resulting in 2-3 days of a tight back. It could be worse and has been worse before. Fortunately I've been able to function and take care of the family despite the discomfort.
