A short episode today. Interpret what I have said how you want but try use it in all facets of your life. The 100-mile mindset isn't about training on the trails or pavement but more how we do things in our day to day life. it refers to the mental and strategic approach of breaking down life events or goals into manageable segments, typically measured in 100-mile increments. This mindset helps everyone maintain focus, manage their energy, and stay motivated throughout said experience. Episode 24 of the Run It Three Ways podcast. 6months in and still nothing changes. The same three guys waffling on about their running weeks, a bit of news and of course our lovely listener questions. This week we take a look at the results from the diamond league that saw Jacob silence any chat that suggested that Jarred maybe the new man to beat. We also have a race recap from Callum who this week raced over the 1609m distance at the historic Emsley Carr Mile. Ben runs lots and we hopefully hear about one of the last weeks of no activities on strava from Tom. If you enjoy the podcast please leave us a rating and above all else keep giving us an hour plus of your week, we really do appriciate it.

Jereny grew up in poverty, and didn't have the resources or opportunities to explore athletics. She found running as an adult and ran her first marathon in 5 hours and 25 minutes. Early into her running journey, she found the Sports Bra Squad movement, which encourages women to embrace their bodies and focus on what they can do rather than what they look like. Through this community, she repaired her relationship with her body, leading her to repair her relationship with food. These were powerful catalysts that allowed her to run harder, longer, and faster. She eventually ran a 2:47 marathon - just 2 minutes and 5 seconds off the 2020 Olympic Trials qualifying time. She hopes to continue to working to snag that OQT, and then move on to long distance ultras My Marathon training blog : Patreon Discount code TRW15 for 15% off at www.janji.com Go to www.athleticgreens.com/TRWP to get 5 FREE travel packs and one year supply of Vitamin D! Amy Hamilton has always been an athlete. She's run both Boston and New York with times as fast as 2:57. After a health ordeal she was sidelined for the first time in her life. She returned to running and decided to take to the trails. She soon started to go after 100 mile races but couldn't figure out why she couldn't finish them. After multiple attempts, she finally started eating more and came out with a 1st place finish at Yeti 100. They also discuss why some players can handle clutch situations better than others and how to handle the big moments in sports and business. John discusses that although he dislikes the phrase, "It is what it is," he has come to understand the value of not labeling things any one particular way, so as not to put too much on any one thing, but rather treat all things as a thing. In Episode 111, we talk about the amazing feats of endurance and mental strength of David Kilgore. As an ultra runner, David is no stranger to putting in hundreds of miles per week under his belt. He tells us about his training for some of the most gruelling races in the world, dealing with everything from heat exhaustion, altitude changes and creatively fueling himself. We discuss David's training and his use of different footwear for different training and competition scenarios. Thankfully, David has managed to stay relatively injury free. As such, we talk about his approach to training intelligently for maintaining a long running career and lifestyle, while at the same time, not taking life or running too seriously.David Kilgore, born in UK, raised in Florida and currently residing in NYC, is a runner of all trades from shorter distance races on the road/track to long ultra-distance on the trails. David placed third at the 2018 USATF 50K Trail Championships, won the 2018 Breakneck Point 42K and has a 50K PB of a mind-boggling 3:01. In 2019 he came in 4th at the USATF Trail Championships at Fourmidable 50k in California, made the 2019 USA Trail world team and ran a double marathon in Rio De Janeiro in 5:40:02 in ON Running CloudStratus shoes. He has accomplished all of this with a go-with-the-flow approach — running mostly by feel and finding inspiration simply by exploring new areas by foot. You can find out more information on David via the following links:Instagram: https://www.instagram.com/davidkilgore/Facebook: https://www.facebook.com/david.kilgore.98The D&D Fitness Radio podcast is available at the following locations for downloadable audio, including: iTunes – https://itunes.apple.com/us/podcast/d-d-fitness-radio-podcast/id1331724217iHeart Radio – https://www.iheart.com/podcast/dd-fitness-radio-28797988/Spreaker.com – https://www.spreaker.com/show/d-and-d-fitness-radios-showSpotify – https://open.spotify.com/show/5Py2SSPA4mntNwYRm0OpriYou can reach both Don and Derek at the following locations: Don Saladino: http://www.DonSaladino.com Twitter and Instagram - @DonSaladino YouTube - http://www.youtube.com/donsaladino Derek M. Samantha LeBlanc is a compact but powerful runner who shares her story of gaining her independence at a young age, setting out to explore her boundaries. After training for six months to finish a 2.4 mile race, she gradually caught the running bug, and ultimately discovered her superpower, the ability to take on the most difficult courses including her inaugural 100 mile finish at Grindstone where she placed Third. Lori Mitchener recently came 1st female at Keys 100, getting herself an entry into Badwater. The only problem? The Keys was her first 100 mile race, and Badwater requires you have successfully completed at least 3 x 100 mile races. Naturally she immediately signed up for another race, Pinecreek 100. She won again, this time overall. She now has to complete one more race coming up this December. She talks about the sudden pressure from going from a newbie to an undefeated 100 mile racer. A great episode to start off the new year, Sean Nickell came 2nd in the recent escape from Meriden running his 10th 100 miler, in this episode Sean breaks down the race in which he ran 110 miles in 24hrs to mark 96 miles as the crow flies. I was intrigued by this unique race and the history it derived from, running solo to nowhere must take a lot of self motivation and mental strength which Sean consistently demonstrates in abundance. What is it that drives us to explore our potential, there’s no doubt Sean is on a quest to find out how far he can push his body and mind, a superb athlete who has also run over 100 marathons gracing a pb of 3:09min.
Can you imagine having run over 100 x 100 mile races? No, me neither. I finally did it! I ran the big 100. It’s been haunting me in the back of my mind for at least the last 4-5 years. I knew I had to do it, but I just couldn’t ever get my brain wrapped around it.
