John 6 is the longest chapter in the New Testament. It provides a rich redemptive-historical perspective on Moses and the central saving act of God in Israel's history—the exodus. John wants us to see Jesus as the greater Moses and the gospel as the greatest exodus of all.In this chapter, Jesus Christ, the Lamb of God Who offers to mankind the ultimate deliverance, is going to demonstrate the reason why He came. Other than turning water into wine, this is the only miracle that was a “creative act.” Of all the miracles performed by Jesus, the feeding of the 5,000 is the only one recorded by all four gospels. Interestingly, each of the 4 gospels places a different emphasis upon their respective portrayal of this miracle. Matthew emphasizes Jesus as the King Who will judge His people. Mark points out the servant's duty to break the bread of life. Luke portrays the Son of Man's compassion to meet man's need. John's account reveals that Jesus is The Bread of Life. John records only certain miracles, and he calls the miracles signs because signs are for a purpose. You will remember that John said, And many other signs truly did Jesus in the presence of his disciples, which are not written in this book: But these are written, that ye might believe that Jesus is the Christ, the Son of God; and that believing ye might have life through his name (John 20:30–31). This is an important verse because it is not only the key to this entire gospel of John, but to one's eternal existence as well.There are so many practical lessons that can be drawn from this single miracle, but there are 2 practical things that I want to point out to you, and they are in verse 15. When Jesus therefore perceived that they would come and take him by force, to make him a king, he departed again into a mountain himself alone.1- Jesus, The Son of God, made the time to get away from the crowd and get alone with The Father in prayer. Beloved, if Jesus made it a priority to get away from the hustle and bustle of life and people and ministry, how much more do you and I?2- They tried to force Jesus to be their king. For all the wrong reasons! The Lord Jesus will never force Himself upon you. Jesus IS not only a King, He is The King of Kings. 1 Timothy 1:17 Now unto the King eternal, immortal, invisible, the only wise God, be honor and glory forever and ever. Amen. Some problems in life are manageable, but others can feel impossible and beyond our ability to fix. In "Loaves and Fishes," Pastor Dave Gustavsen reflects on the feeding of 5,000 — where the disciples face a huge crowd with almost no food. Jesus uses the situation to test whether they trust Him. In this, we learn that God can work with whatever we offer, because He often works through ordinary people and practical means, and His power shows up when we take a step of obedience. Ultimately, the miracle wasn't just about the food — it was about revealing who Jesus is and reminding us that if He can take care of our biggest need, we can trust him with everything else. Two blind veterans have found friendship through the service and they even have a blind volunteer who helps every week, as we find out from Loaves and Fishes chairperson Lesley Davidson. Welcome to The Daily, where we study the Bible verse by verse, chapter by chapter, every day. Today's shout-out goes to Daryl Ackerman from Becker, MN. Daryl, your partnership with us through Project23 is bringing compassion and miracles to others. This study is for you. Our text today is Mark 8:1-10: In those days, when again a great crowd had gathered, and they had nothing to eat, he called his disciples to him and said to them, “I have compassion on the crowd, because they have been with me now three days and have nothing to eat. And if I send them away hungry to their homes, they will faint on the way. And some of them have come from far away.” And his disciples answered him, “How can one feed these people with bread here in this desolate place?” And he asked them, “How many loaves do you have?” They said, “Seven.” And he directed the crowd to sit down on the ground. And he took the seven loaves, and having given thanks, he broke them and gave them to his disciples to set before the people; and they set them before the crowd. And they had a few small fish. And having blessed them, he said that these also should be set before them. And they ate and were satisfied. And they took up the broken pieces left over, seven baskets full. And there were about four thousand people. And he sent them away. And immediately he got into the boat with his disciples and went to the district of Dalmanutha.— Mark 8:1-10 This crowd didn't just stumble into a sermon. They stayed for three days. No food. No preparation. Just hungry hearts chasing after truth. And Jesus notices. He doesn't just preach—He provides. He sees their empty stomachs and says something compassionate. In my words: “I feel for the people. They have full souls and empty stomachs, and I cannot leave them in this condition.” But the word Jesus uses here is—"compassion,"—which means to feel it in your gut. It wasn't pity. It wasn't obligation. It was love that moved him to act. And the disciples? They still don't get it. They respond: “How can we feed all these people out here?” Did they forget the feeding of the 5,000 just a few chapters ago? But Jesus doesn't shame their forgetfulness—He invites them to participate. “How many loaves do you have?” They hand him what they have. Just seven loaves and a few small fish. And Jesus does what He always does—He multiplies. Everyone eats. Everyone is satisfied. And there are leftovers—seven baskets full. That's the kind of King we serve. A King who notices. Who cares. Who multiplies. Some of us need this reminder today. Jesus sees your situation. He knows you're worn down. He knows what you lack. And he's not asking you for what you don't have. He's asking, “What do you have?” A little time. A few dollars. A short prayer. An act of obedience. That's where he starts. And if you give it to Jesus, he will use it. He will multiply it. Because Jesus still feeds. He still satisfies. He still multiplies. But it begins with you bringing what you have, and then you will see Jesus has no lack. #GodProvides, #JesusFeeds, #FaithInAction ASK THIS: What small “loaves” could you offer to Jesus today? Why do we forget what God has already done for us? How do you know when God is stirring you to compassion? What area of your life feels empty or “desolate” right now? DO THIS: Offer one small act of obedience today and ask God to multiply it for his glory. PRAY THIS: Jesus, I trust you with the little I have. President Biden recently announced that he was going to "spend" $500 billion to help the student debt crisis. This is nothing more than the next phase of the Democrats' disastrous economic policy in an attempt to buy votes in future elections. It's all a sham, and only further devalues the dollars currently in our wallets as well as every future dollar. 

In Sacred Scripture the followers of Jesus saw over five thousand people who were hungry and the disciples were overwhelmed as to how to feed them. Jesus told them to give him what they had---fives loaves and two fish. Then he miraculously multiplied what was offered and there was more than enough food for everyone. When we see so much need in our midst, the Evil One wants us to be deceived into thinking there is nothing we can do. Jesus says the exact opposite: just give me what you have: your time, efforts, sacrifices, resources and simply watch how I will use them in miraculous way to satisfy the hunger and thirst of my people. There is nothing to small we can give to the Lord---he just asks for our very best.
