In this episode, Mandy (@mandyleft) catches up with Emma Lloyd (@emmajlloyd_).   They talked about Emma's experiences with film in Australia since moving there last year.  Going on a photowalk with members of the film community in Adelaide, independent labs in Melbourne in general and specifically FilmNeverDie (@filmneverdie), what cameras she took, how much film, what she is photographing and the idea of bonding with people in a new country over film.   Then with March being Women's History Month and the 8th being International Women's Day (IWD), they talk about #sheheartsfilm which Emma started while she was working at Analogue Wonderland and current projects they have both planned to recognize and celebrate the month.   Emma is organizing a print sale to benefit women's charities. Photographers can share prints on social media that they would like to sell along with the hashtag #IWDFrameTheGrain. People who are interested in purchasing the print can coordinate with the seller and do so by making a donation to a charity that benefits women. Follow the hashtag and the Grainsplaining IG account (@grainsplaining) for updates on the project.   Mandy would like to put together a zine with portraits of female film photographers. She'd like to make the portraits this year and put together the zine in time for International Women's Day (8th of March) in 2025. Please get in touch if you would be willing to be one of her subjects.

My name is Andrew Walmsley and your listening to episode 165 of photography insights. This is the show that interviews people from the photography world. Over the last few years I have always wanted to do a christmas special which would have to be different. After rummaging around my mind I finally came up with a plan and invited a couple of analogue shooting friends on to the show. So this will break off for the normal interview style and will focus on the world of analogue and christmas obviously. I'm pleased to invite Eoghan Hennessey (prounounced Owen) and of course I messed that up several times. Also from the world of silvergrain and film we have the esteemed Christopher Osborne. Both guests are great film shooters, active in our UK film group but also fun to talk to, hence why they are here. If you are ready for the show, it's themed around the 3 ghosts, past; present and the future, meaning we all cover an element each. So we will be talking about what we miss, what we want and expect in the future! Not only that but Eoghan and Christopher have agreed to take part in my barmy christmas quiz too - it's a bit of my usual type questions with some sensible ones too. It's a lot of fun so do listen for that. My name is Andrew Walmsley and your listening to episode 154 of photography insights. This is the show that interviews people from the photography world. I have been shooting film for about 5 years now (or so I believe) and buying it initially online was always daunting. The world is very different now with so many places to buy from but that offer more than just a place to buy. Luckily I came across Paul at Analogue Wonderland just over 3 years ago. It was clear he had a fresh approach to the industry and quickly established his business. From his initial interview back in August 2018 I wanted to reach out again to try and summarise whats happened to Analogue Wonderland in the last 3 years. Paul always seemed like one of us and felt like you were dealing with a friend and investing in something good. From the reviews side to the loyalty rewards, it just felt he had really nailed the film sector. I'm always keen on following people that do good things and Paul is definitely one (as you will soon find out). Because its late September 2021, the photography show has just finished too so we had time to talk about Hamish Gill and Paul's involvement in the Analogue spotlight segment. I'm not hear to tell you where to buy your stuff from, thats not me. I only tell you about businesses I like and the ones I use. On a personal level I'm thank full to Paul for the introductions too, which has brought some fantastic guests like Lomig at Washi! We've kept this episode short as it's a catch up. So in this small episode we discuss: - films stocks & covid - colour 120 film - cloning humans - Pinsta camera - analogue spotlight - the film lab - building a darkroom - teams - wonderbox Links The shop - https://analoguewonderland.co.uk/ Youtube - https://www.youtube.com/channel/UCZXe1cKqp2QHa_jdImrdCRQ Discussed: Lomig from Washi film - http://filmwashi.com/en/ Steve at Chroma - https://chroma.camera Kosmo - https://kosmofoto.com/ James Lane - https://www.zoneimaginglab.co.uk/ Hamish Gill - http://www.hamishgill.com/about-me/ Pinsta - https://www.pinstacamera.com/ Friends of the show Steve at Chroma - Find out more at https://chroma.camera For all your c41 developing needs - https://filmdev.co.uk/ Great and affordable zines from Static Age - https://www.staticage.co.uk/ --- Send in a voice message: https://anchor.fm/photography-insights/message

After waiting so long I thought it would be wise to put an interview with Stephen Dowling from Kosmo foto together. After writing for his blog last year (link) and watching his website grow from the Zorki days has been impressive. Obviously some of you know Stephen from his film, some know him from the BBC and some from his NME days, never mind his travels around the world. After meeting Stephen back in March 2019 at the photography show (with the rest of the crew too) it was clear he's got bags of experience and intelligence too. I love talking to people like Stephen about the many years he has been a journalist, but mainly his passion for the analogue world of cameras. I decided to make this an extra-length special to cover 2 weeks, as I'm still unsure if I can commit to a weekly podcast anymore (it takes up time editing etc). Obviously I will never be short of interesting people to find, it's just finding mutual times to fit this in. So, let's break the interview down since its an extra-length special. We talk about some of the characters out there like Jeremy (Japan Camera Hunter), Hamish Gill from 35mmc, EM from Emulsive, Steve at Chroma, Sam at Solarcan and Paul from Analogue Wonderland. Obviously Stephen knows many people, but he's not name dropping, far from it, he's actively complimenting and talking about people who are making the film community a better place for all. After 20 very well received shows since we began this podcast last year, for some time we considered retiring from the fame, stardom and wealth that this has brought us. I convinced Simon that we should carry on at least through 2020 as there are many more brilliant guests we can have on the show. So we start 2020 with an industry big hitter Max Grew from Intrepid Camera. Since the successful Kickstarter in 2014 Max and his growing team have shipped over 5,000 brand new cameras – it’s a statistic we find staggering and really encouraging in this hi tech world. So thanks to Max for taking the time to bring us up to date with all that’s happening with you – exciting times ahead.     Things we chatted about on the show   Max uses the Brighton Community Darkroom to print his work – it looks to be a brilliant resource if you are in the area – check out their website http://brightondarkroom.org.uk/   Andrew mentioned DeVere as they are also in Brighton – listen to episode 19 or head over to their website for enlargers, lenses and other spares – or just some sound advice from John Boyce http://odyssey-sales.co.uk/   Andrew referenced Ansel Adam’s book “The Camera” as a superb reference for all things Large Format which he bought back in the 1980s it is still in print and reasonably priced  https://www.amazon.co.uk/New-Photo-Camera-Ansel-Adams/dp/0821221841/ref=sr_1_1?keywords=ansel+adams+the+camera&qid=1578647837&sr=8-1   If you live anywhere near Stoke On Trent then why not get in touch with Simon and coma along to the 6 Towns Darkroom on a Tuesday evening You know how to find him   Andrew mentioned the Stearman Press 8x10 daylight developing tank which appears in the Firstcall Photogaphic Catalogue – this is likely to be imported by Morco Photographic and both suppliers are really worth checking out   https://www.firstcall-photographic.co.uk/   https://www.morco.uk.com/   Excitement is building at the prospect of the imminent UK availability of Pictoriographica dry plates – we think at Analogue Wonderland   https://www.pictoriographica.com/online-shop.html   https://analoguewonderland.co.uk/   and of course the successful KickStarter to deliver brand new dry plate holders – the ChromaGraphica will be available soon   https://www.kickstarter.com/projects/dryplateholder/the-chromagraphica-double-dry-plate-holder     LFPP links -   https://largeformatphotographypodcast.podbean.com/   ko-fi.com/largeformatphotographypodcast   You can join in the fun at our Facebook Group https://www.facebook.com/groups/2296599290564807/   Get Twitter updates for the show from Andrew – https://twitter.com/warboyssnapper   Or from Simon – https://twitter.com/simonfor   Email feedback, ideas and questions for the podcast largeformatphotographypodcast@gmail.com   Podcast Hosts Social Media presence   Simon Forster www.classiclensespodcast.com   www.simonforsterphotographic.co.uk   https://stores.ebay.co.uk/itsfozzyphotography   https://www.flickr.com/photos/125323761@N07/   https://www.facebook.com/SimonForsterPhotographic/   https://www.instagram.com/simonforsterphotographic/   https://twitter.com/SimonFor   Andrew Bartram https://anchor.fm/thelenslesspodcast   https://andrewbartram.wordpress.com   https://www.instagram.com/warboyssnapper   https://www.imstagram.com/warboyssnapper_pinholes   https://www.flickr.com/photos/warboyssnapper/   https://twitter.com/warboyssnapper

In a change of format, Bill Manning invites EM of Emulsive and Paul McKay, CEO of Analogue Wonderland, to discuss the recent grim new for digital camera manufacturers for Canon, Nikon, Fujifilm, and Olympus. Sony sells its shares back to Olympus, some viewing a dumping of devalued stock, Nikon fails to innovate and as well outsourcing all of it components. None of this is new to these manufacturers, the writing has been on the wall for years, once dismissed by Canon CEO Fujio Mitarai. While the digital camera market questions its future, film photography has show significant growth as Kodak reports its film division experience 21% growth year-over-year. In addition to it's growth, other film manufacturers are feeling bull-ish in bringing new products to the market: Fujifilm Acros 100 II, Film Ferrania P30, Lomography Metropolis, etc.

For this episode we present a special one off edition. It's a highlight of random questions from the guests during 2018. They are not picked on any specific merits, but chosen some of those that worked well. The whole point is to think out of the box and push the guest in to a different frame of mind. The responses are what really made the questions so great. Because of these we can write more for future guests.
