On this week's show we have a shootout between four set top boxes and we try to determine which one is best for you. We also read your email and take a look at the week's email. News: Netflix Walks With A Cool $2.8 Billion Breakup Fee: Who Gets What In New Paramount-WBD Merger Proposal Viewers Continue To 'Struggle' With Sports Program Discovery Samsung Wallet's 'Digital Home Key' lets me use my phone to open my doors Set Top Box Shootout  On last week's show, in response to a news story,  Ara asked why would someone use a FireTV set top box over ones from Apple, Google, or Roku. So for this week we decided to do a comparison of them all and try to identify who each product would benefit the most.  For this comparison we looked at the Apple TV 4K (latest 3rd-gen model from 2022, still current), Google TV Streamer (the modern successor to Chromecast with Google TV), Roku (focusing on high-end like Roku Ultra or Streaming Stick 4K), and Amazon Fire TV (focusing on popular models like Fire TV Stick 4K Max or Cube). All support 4K HDR streaming including Dolby Vision, major apps (Netflix, Disney+, etc.), and voice remotes. In a nutshell, the differences come down to your ecosystem, interface, performance, ads, and price. Apple TV 4K Price range: ~$129–$149 (64GB Wi-Fi or 128GB Wi-Fi + Ethernet). Key specs: A15 Bionic chip (fast/smooth), Wi-Fi 6, optional Ethernet, Dolby Vision/Atmos/HDR10+, Thread smart home hub, USB-C Siri Remote. Pros: Premium, ad-free high performance interface with fast app loading. Excellent integration with Apple ecosystem (iPhone, iPad, Mac, AirPlay, Apple TV+, Fitness+, Arcade). Superior picture/audio quality, privacy focus (less tracking), and acts as a smart home hub. Great for gaming (Apple Arcade) and high-end home theater setups. Cons: Most expensive option. Less neutral—prioritizes Apple content/services. Fewer "free/ad-supported" channels compared to rivals. Best for: Apple users and those wanting a premium, ad free experience. Google TV Streamer  Price range: ~$90–$100 (Buy Now). Key specs: Powerful processor (faster than old Chromecast), 32GB storage, Wi-Fi 6, Ethernet, Dolby Vision/Atmos, Google Home/Matter smart home support, hands-free options in some setups. Pros: Intuitive, personalized interface with excellent content discovery/search across services. Strong Google ecosystem integration (YouTube, Nest, Google Assistant, synced watchlists). Good performance/speed, supports cloud gaming, and broad app support. Balanced neutral approach. Cons: Some ads and recommendations can feel cluttered. More expensive than basic sticks but cheaper than Apple. Interface may prioritize Google content slightly. Best for: Google/Android users or those wanting smart recommendations and smart home features. Roku (Ultra or Streaming Stick 4K) Price range: ~$30–$100 (Buy Now). Key specs: Fast quad-core processor (in Ultra), Wi-Fi 6, Ethernet (Ultra), Dolby Vision/Atmos/HDR10+, rechargeable Voice Remote Pro (Ultra), broad smart home compatibility. Pros: Simple, neutral, user-friendly interface with huge app/channel selection (including tons of free/ad-supported content). No heavy ecosystem bias—treats all services equally. Often the most affordable high-quality options; great search/universal watchlist. Compatible with Alexa, Google, Apple Home; highly popular among cord-cutters. Cons: Can feel slower on lower-end models compared to premium rivals. Some ads on home screen. Less "smart home hub" depth than Apple/Google. Best for: Most people—especially beginners or those wanting value and neutrality. Amazon Fire TV (Fire TV Stick 4K Max or Cube) Price range: ~$25–$60 Sticks (Buy Now) to ~$100+ Cube (Buy Now). Key specs: Fast processor/Wi-Fi 6E (Max), Dolby Vision/Atmos, Alexa voice, Ambience mode, Ethernet (Cube). Pros: Very affordable, especially on sale. Quick performance and deep Amazon Prime integration (Prime Video priority). Excellent Alexa/smart home control (Ring, Echo, etc.). Good app support and features like live TV guides. Cons: Heavy ads and Prime content promotion (can feel pushy/cluttered). Interface prioritizes Amazon ecosystem over neutrality. Privacy concerns with more tracking. Best for: Amazon Prime members or Alexa/Echo households on a budget. Overall, Roku wins for broad appeal and value, while we give the nod to the Apple TV 4K for premium quality, and the Google TV Streamer excels for smart features. Choose based on your ecosystem (Apple/Google/Amazon) or if you want neutral/no-fuss just go with Roku.

At the same time she says she is against the objectification of women. Any advice on how to talk to her about this stuff? 32:46 – What's your advice on how to best debate with a feminist in a charitable way? 43:50 – I think people are confused about what feminism is. People think women being equal is women being like men, and that's wrong. I think the patriarchy still has a hold on us in some ways — women need education so they can escape abusive relationships if needed.

Requiere suscripción a Gmail. Suno Permite pistas de hasta 2 minutos. Interfaz sencilla. No genera carátulas automáticas. Founding director of the Critical Theory Workshop and professor at Villanova University Gabriel Rockhill is out with a new book that calls out many of the intellectual fathers of the academic left as insufficiently imperialist and often funded by the CIA. How have we been mislead by the "compatible left" -- a cohort of leftists that support marxism only in theory while inveighing against actually existing socialism? Where do Slavoj Zizek & Noam Chomsky fall in this analysis? How do we identify the contemporary "compatible left" in our media and political environment, and if the deep state is so effective at coopting left movements, what can we possibly do to evade them and achieve revolutionary change?

Part 3  In this episode of the To Be Better Podcast, Chris and Peaches sit down fresh off an intense couples retreat to unpack what really happens when you stop pretending everything is fine and actually do the work. They debrief the weekend, talk about the energy shift created by Peaches' first guided meditation and sound bath, and share behind-the-scenes details from their women's and men's retreats, upcoming couples retreats, and the early stages of building their church and refuge for abused and struggling men and women. If you're into real marriage talk, couples retreats, guided meditations, chakras, psilocybin, spiritual growth, and practical relationship tools, this episode gives you a raw look at how they blend masculine leadership, feminine softness, nervous system regulation, and deep emotional processing to actually create change, not just talk about it. The heart of the episode is a powerful Patreon email series from a husband who went from cheating and poorly managed polyamory to radical accountability, therapy, ADHD awareness, and the hard question, “Are we still compatible as healthy people, or are we just together out of habit?” Chris and Peaches walk through infidelity, open relationships, trauma-bonding, rebuilding trust after betrayal, neurodivergent “spicy brains,” communication breakdowns, resentment, and what it actually looks like for both partners to earn each other again. If you're wrestling with whether to stay or leave, healing from cheating, navigating poly-to-monogamy, questioning compatibility, or trying to understand ADHD and emotional dysregulation in your marriage, this conversation will hit home and give you straight, no-fluff relationship advice you can start using today.Disclaimer: We are not professionals. If you want to feel happier in your relationships, understanding Enneagram types changes everything. This growth-focused conversation dives into love, happiness, and emotional intimacy through the lens of personality. You'll learn why different Enneagram personality types experience emotions and relationships differently and how couples can grow and heal by improving communication, mindset, and self-awareness through understanding each other's Enneagram type. In this episode, I'm sharing a meaningful and wide-ranging conversation with Ian Morgan Cron, a bestselling author, psychotherapist, Enneagram teacher, and host of the Typology podcast. Together, we explore how Enneagram types shape relationship dynamics, why misunderstandings happen even in loving partnerships, and how learning each other's emotional wiring can lead to deeper connection instead of ongoing frustration. We talk about why love and attachment can feel so powerful, why it's often harder than expected to let go of unhealthy relationships, and how personality patterns influence conflict, empathy, and emotional pacing. We also dig into Enneagram and relationships, including how different Enneagram types process feelings, respond to stress, and experience intimacy in very different ways. I share personal insights about discovering my own Enneagram 7 tendencies and how that awareness changed the way I understand closeness, independence, and emotional connection in my own relationships. As you listen, I invite you to notice where you may be assuming your partner experiences the world the same way you do. Understanding Enneagram personality types isn't about labeling or fixing yourself or your partner. It's about building compassion, improving communication, and creating relationships where both people feel understood and emotionally safe. By tying Lean to a deeper respect for humanity, Jason explains why Lean cannot succeed in environments that perpetuate disrespect, and how this toxic mindset is preventing Lean from thriving in the United States. What you'll learn in this episode: Why Lean is incompatible with the idea of throwing people away. The harmful impact of toxic capitalism, religious beliefs, and societal systems on Lean adoption. The Daily Boost | Coaching You Need. Success You Deserve.

December brings those annual bad habits back for about six weeks. You know the ones. I sat on the couch all day after a neighbor's wine party and had one word: incompatible. Not sustainable. Compatible. That's the question that changes everything about your habits. You already know what you should be doing. I walk you through my Good Habit Generator process that makes it actually happen. Short list. Pick one. Do it today. Layer in the rest. Simple stuff that works when life gets complicated. Featured Story My neighbor threw a wine party on Saturday night. I like good wine. And I almost never drink during the year. So I went. Had a glass. Maybe more because people kept topping me off. Cookies, chicken wings, pigs in a blanket, Swedish meatballs. All of it. Sunday morning I woke up with one word in my head: incompatible. Fun? Absolutely. But completely incompatible with what I want. I know because I spent the entire day on the freaking couch doing nothing. That one word has become huge in my coaching. Not is it sustainable, but is it compatible with your life? Important Points Every single action or inaction in your life creates a result, even doing nothing changes things. You already know your bad habits and good habits, the problem is making them fit your actual life. Compatible beats sustainable as the question to ask about your habits and choices. Memorable Quotes "Is it compatible or is it incompatible with your life?" "Everything you do in your life is a result of an action or an inaction." After surviving Thanksgiving and the subsequent biting cold, we jumped into the FOLLOW UP with news that Malaysia is joining the trend by taking steps to ban social media for children under 16, mirroring similar actions in Australia and Denmark—it seems the world is finally realizing the internet is a toxic wasteland for the kids. We also discussed Apple's photo AI, which is apparently still in beta, if the results are anything to go by. The bulk of our discussion centered on the spectacular, flaming death of the Department of Government Efficiency (DOGE), which is Officially Dead. We broke down a brief rundown of the damages this vanity project caused, from humanitarian disasters overseas to administrative chaos and the loss of hundreds of thousands of jobs domestically, proving the "savings" were pure illusion. Now, with the collapse, the 'Suddenly exposed' DOGE employees fear prosecution after Musk abandoned them, learning the hard way that billionaire guardianship has an expiration date. The job market is just great, with both Apple laying off part of its sales team despite record revenue, and HP joining the List of Tech Companies Cutting Jobs and pointing to AI as the convenient scapegoat for laying off 10% of their workforce. Meanwhile, we found out the most popular social media platform among US adults isn't Instagram or TikTok—it's YouTube—while Meta allegedly buried research showing its products are harming users, confirming what we've known all along: they're evil, but they already got your grandma hooked. Adding to the misery, An Alarming Number of Teens Say They Turn To AI For Company, Study Finds, because why talk to a real, messy human when a bot can gaslight you more efficiently? Sam Altman's financial troubles are spilling over, with Sam Altman's Business Buddies Are Getting Stung (sorry, SoftBank and Oracle), and analysts estimate OpenAI Is Just $200 Billion Away From Still Losing Money, HSBC Says, a comical hole they plan to fill by asking for more free money. Legally, OpenAI can't use the Word ‘Cameo' in Sora now, thanks to a trademark suit, and Warner Music is playing both sides by dropping its lawsuit against Suno in exchange for a licensing agreement. Finally, in some truly dark news, a Marc Andreessen-backed Super-PAC Pours Millions Into Fighting State AI Regulations, and X's new location feature reveals that New X Feature Reveals Many MAGA Patriots on X Are Not Even Based in the U.S.After ranting about my misery dealing with the Open Dialogue bug in a beta build and declaring my return to "pedestrian releases," we got into APPS & DOODADS. Spotify is actually doing something cool with its new SongDNA feature, which shows you who sampled what (and they bought WhoSampled to do it). They're also testing Spotify's New AI-powered audiobook Recaps to remind you where you left off—Amazon is doing the same with AI-powered series Recap Videos for Prime Video. Amazon is also rolling out Alexa Home Theater surround sound for Echo speakers, making those budget speakers slightly more useful. We ran through some great stocking stuffers in Jason's Holiday Gift Guide, including Velcro cable ties and the Contigo travel mug, before moving on to MEDIA CANDY, which included Dan Carlin's Common Sense, Nathan Fillion and Alan Tudyk's new podcast Once We Were Spacemen, and a discussion on why Stranger Things Lost the Plot. We then got deeply uncomfortable talking about a Toronto ASMR spa that offers doctor roleplay, and closed out by talking about the documentary Quiet Please… about the neurological disorder misophonia. The episode finished with the AT THE LIBRARY segment, covering the Milli Vanilli memoir You Know It's True and the sci-fi short story collection The Time Travelers Passport.Show notes at https://gog.show/724Watch now on YouTube: https://youtu.be/PoMa9FM5QEE?si=4r25yqv_0u8aXHF7Sponsors:MasterClass - Get up to 50% off at MASTERCLASS.com/GRUMPYOLDGEEKSGusto - Try Gusto today at gusto.com/grumpy, and get three months free when you run your first payroll.Private Internet Access - Go to GOG.Show/vpn and sign up today. Ep 364 Epstein and WCF: Post Convention Vision

Episode 364 of RevolutionZ begins with a brief discussion of the Epstein phenomenon. How do elites manufacture loyalty and impose silence? How did Epstein (and Trump too) get constituencies that not only ought to have known better, but literally ought to have abhorred them, to instead become sycophants or at least friends? After that interlude, the episode continues the oral history presentation of the Wind Cries Freedom episodes This time, Miguel Guevara elicits from his interviewees reports regarding Revolutionary Participatory Society's initial post convention vision for a society where people actually manage the decisions that shape their lives. The connection with Epstein and Trump? As power recruits through fear, favors, routine, and spectacle, we must answer with vision and program that makes popular agency normal, protects dissent, and make hierarchy impossible to resurrect.Guevara's interviewees describe arriving at a clear foundation for democratic life. Politics moves beyond occasional voting to year-round self-management. Decision-making power tracks impact. Society reveres dissent. Economy rejects owner and coordinator dominance. It favors workers self management, balanced jobs, and income based on effort, duration, and onerousness of socially valued labor. Participatory planning replaces markets and command with cooperative negotiation conducted via workers and consumers councils. Compatible commitments contour everyday life. Caregiving is shared. Consent-centered sex education bolsters sexually and emotionally diverse relationships. Partnerships endure without perks. Cultural self-governing communities have the space and means to thrive so long as universal rights hold. Across borders, internationalism eliminates empire. Across time, addressing full ecological and social costs ensures that future generations inherit options, not debts. The RPS conception was that commitments should and could keep hope honest. Guevara's interviewees detail their support for recallable leadership, transparent roles, internal diversity, and childcare and mutual aid practices that make participation possible. Empowering tasks are distributed so influence cannot accumulate. RPS initial strategy, the interviewees report, favored nonviolence and context-aware electoral choices. RPS vision and program operated as a scaffold are participants to elaborate in contextually contingent situations.. RPS members' shared aim they explain, was to win reforms that leave people and organizations more connected, more confident, and more capable of winning still more gains. Throughout, the interviewees reveal how status seeking, impatience, defeatism, and inflexible personal habits corroded movements and describe how humility, listening, and rigor strengthened movements. In sum, this episode offers describes some ways a particular future movement turned values into institutions and made collective self management a daily practice. The interviewees don't provide a blueprint. Indeed, they reject the virtue and even the possibility of blueprints. They instead offer their own experiences in hopes they can be adapted, refined, augmented, and when need be ignored in a different time and different context which needs to arrive at its own vision and strategy. If the recounting resonates for you, subscribe and share with a friend or ten. What guardrails against persistent hierarchy do you favor? What visions do you advocate? What motives and means fuel your life choices? Don't we all need to each be able to respond to such questions? Don't we need to be able to use our answers to such questions to go forward against Trumpism Epsteinism and every other ism that subjugates any living soul? If we do, maybe the interviewees from The Wind Cries Freedom convey lessons we can usefully adapt.Support the show
