“Gonna rise up, find my direction magnetically.” In Episode 37, we will leave it all far behind! Kiara welcomes back our most recent guest Kerri for a discussion on Into the Wild: Music for the Motion Picture (2007) from the legendary Eddie Vedder, sponsored by Lake of Bays Brewing Co.! In this episode we take a cue from our Off The Grid Hazy Pale Ales and dive into the true story of Harvard-bound-student-turned-vagabond Christopher McCandless, his journey to Alaska, and the mix tape-worthy tracks from Pearl Jam’s front man that compliment this memorable film so perfectly. We go deep exploring the themes of both the movie and the soundtrack, touching on the importance of reflection and self-discovery, Carl Jung’s theory of archetypes, and society’s materialistic obsessions; but we also keep the conversation light and learn of Kerri’s Quebecois wilderness adventure and how she’d react in a hypothetical Hunger Games situation, and we also get a sneak peek at Kiara’s Sean Penn impression. Vedder? I hardly even know her!
