Jenn and I are huge horror fans. I (Scott) love every movie that George Romero has made about Zombies. Bryan Patrick Miller took his love of zombies to a whole new level. Armed with his zombie hunting a car (an old police car) and his steam punk outfit, he could be found at every event in and around Pheonix, AZ. He was a popular character, so much so that the police took pride at the chances that the got to take a picture with the zombie hunter. What no one would have guessed was that behind the steam punk outfit was a killer who murdered at least 2 girls in Pheonix, AZ and perhaps more in Everette, WA. (Part 2 of 2) After a cold case of over 20 years was cracked thanks to advancements in forensic genealogy, Phoenix police were certain that the Arizona Canal Killings were finally over. However, after 42-year-old Bryan Patrick Miller was arrested, authorities learned their suspect may have been much more active than they originally thought…From 1992 to 2013, several underage girls and women went missing and were never found. (Part 1 of 2) The 1990's was arguably one of the best decades ever. Creepy Crawlers and Barbie's Golden Dream Motorhomes were under every Christmas tree while “Right Said Fred” was letting the world know that he was far too sexy for his shirt. While these were some of the best years for many of us, for residents of Phoenix, AZ - it was all nightmares and dreamscapes. When two women were found brutally murdered a year apart from one another, the similarities between the crime scenes were too profound to ignore. 22-year-old Angela Brosso and 17 year-old Melanie Bernas were both riding along the Arizona Canal on their bicycles in 1992 and 1993. The residents of this city were sure things couldn't get any worse, until a 23 year old cold case wound up producing several more victims, all at the hands of one man who called himself, “The Zombie Hunter.” Written by Michael Dunphy Jr., Executive Produced by Michael Ojibway. After a break in the trial, prosecutors come back with some crucial days of testimony and evidence, including Bryan Patrick Miller's interrogation video after he was arrested for the Canal Murders in 2015. His former roommate also took the stand, who described the moment he realized an item found at the Melanie Bernas' murder scene was something he had seen in their apartment before.
Almost 30 years after two young women were brutally murdered in Phoenix, the man charged with the killings could be sentenced to death. Bryan Patrick Miller, who is now 49, was not arrested until 2015 when new genealogy data led to a breakthrough in the cold case and is now going to trial. He is accused of two counts of first-degree murder, two counts of kidnapping and two counts of attempted sexual assault.

In the first week of the death penalty trial for Bryan Patrick Miller, the prosecution set up their case that DNA at the crime scenes matched Miller's, he had fantasies about killing people, and nobody but him cut these girls' lives short. Meanwhile, the defense is arguing for a “not guilty by reason of insanity” verdict, claiming Miller's autism and dissociative disorders made him insane at the time of the murders. For the first time in nearly 30 years, new details were revealed about the horrific injuries to Angela Brosso and Melanie Bernas when they were killed, and what the killer did with their bodies post-mortem.
