Bṛhad-bhāgavatāmṛta Part 2 Chapter 4 Text 79 tāvad dayālu-pravareṇa tena snehena gambhīra-mṛdu-svareṇa svastho bhavāgaccha javena vatsety- ādy ucyamānaṁ śrutavān vaco 'ham TRANSLATION Then I heard the Lord, that best of merciful persons, tell me in a deep, gentle voice, “Please come back to your senses. Dear boy, come here quickly!”
Bṛhad-bhāgavatāmṛta Part 2 Chapter 4 Texts 62-63 mahā-mahā-citra-vicitra-geha- dvāra-pradeśān atigamya vegāt śrīman-mahalla-pravarasya madhye prāsāda-vargaiḥ pariṣevitāṅghrim prāsādam ekaṁ vividhair mahattā- pūrair viśiṣṭaṁ para-sīma-yātaiḥ prāpto 'ham āditya-sudhāṁśu-koṭi- kāntiṁ mano-locana-vṛtti-coram TRANSLATION I passed rapidly through many districts, wonderfully splendid, with all kinds of houses and gates, and then I entered the most excellent transcendental neighborhood. There I came to one palace at whose feet many others stood in attendance, a palace distinct, overflowing in greatness, where excellence seemed to reach its highest limit. Radiant like millions of suns and moons, it captured my mind and my eyes.
Bṛhad-bhāgavatāmṛta Part 2 Chapter 4 Texts 56-57 itthaṁ harṣa-prakarṣeṇot- tiṣṭhann upaviśan bhṛśam gopure vartamāno 'haṁ tair javenaitya pārṣadaiḥ antaḥ praveśyamāno yad dṛṣṭavān adbhutādbhutam vaktuṁ tad dvi-parārdhena sahasrāsyo 'pi na kṣamaḥ TRANSLATION Thus I thrilled with delight as I waited in the gateway to Vaikuṇṭha. I excitedly stood up and sat down, stood up and sat down, till the associates of the Lord returned, rushing back, and escorted me inside. The amazing things I then saw, more wonderful than wonderful, even the thousand-headed Ananta Śeṣa would be unable to describe, even in a lifetime of Brahmā.
Bṛhad-bhāgavatāmṛta Part 2 Chapter 4 Texts 42-43 tathāpi bhavato brahman prapañcāntar-gatasya hi prapañca-parivārāntar- dṛṣṭi-garbhita-cetasaḥ tad-dṛṣṭāntākulenaiva tat tat syād bodhitaṁ sukham tathety ucyeta yat kiñcit tad āgaḥ kṣamatāṁ hariḥ TRANSLATION Nonetheless, my dear brāhmaṇa, you are a resident of the material world, and your intelligence is confined because you can see only matter. Therefore I say “It is like this” so that by material examples you might understand various things more easily. May Lord Hari forgive this offense.
Bṛhad-bhāgavatāmṛta Part 2 Chapter 4 Text 28 ke 'py ekaśo dvandvaśo 'nye yugapad bahuśo 'pare pūrva-pūrvādhika-śrīkāḥ praviśanti purīṁ prabhoḥ TRANSLATION Many others came — some alone, others in pairs, and yet others together in larger groups — and all of them, each more splendid than the last, entered the city of the Lord.
Bṛhad-bhāgavatāmṛta Part 2 Chapter 4 Text 14 tad asvī-kṛtya tu svīyaṁ govardhana-bhuvaṁ vapuḥ teṣāṁ prabhāvatas tādṛg- guṇa-rūpādy alambhayam TRANSLATION But I refused their offer, and instead, by their influence, my own body born in Govardhana assumed qualities and beauty like theirs.
This talk is from an event sponsored by the Hindu Council of Australia in cooperation with the Australian School of Meditation and Yoga. The question was whether there is a distinction between Dharma and Sanatana Dharma? Acharya das explained that while Dharma has conventional definitions including customary religious observance, prescribed conduct, duty, religion, and good works, it has a deeper meaning as an intrinsic characteristic that makes something what it is - something that cannot be removed without changing the fundamental nature of that thing. He provided examples of heat and light being the dharma of fire, sweetness being the dharma of sugar, and liquidity being the dharma of water.Sanatana as meaning eternal, perpetual, permanent, everlasting, and primeval, distinguishing Sanatana Dharma from conventional religion by explaining that it deals with the eternal nature of the living being or spirit soul (atma). Acharya das distinguished Sanatana Dharma as dealing with the eternal nature of the living being or soul (atma), referencing Srila Bhaktivedanta Swami Prabhupada's teachings that Sanatana Dharma refers to activities that cannot be changed and represents the eternal function of living entities in relationship with the Supreme Lord. The lecturer addressed the apparent contradiction in the Bhagavad Gita where Krishna instructs Arjuna to abandon all varieties of dharma and surrender unto Him, explaining that this refers to abandoning temporary religious duties to embrace one's eternal spiritual nature. Acharya das proposed that true self-realization requires understanding the three aspects of the self/soul: one's essence (being Brahman while maintaining distinction from Paramatma), one's position (equal to all living beings but subservient to the Supreme Being), and one's natural function (to love and to serve.) He concluded that bhakti - rendering eternal loving service to the Lord - is the natural function of the living being and the true definition of Sanatana Dharma. Quotes used in the talk:Abandon all varieties of religion and just surrender unto Me. I shall deliver you from all sinful reaction. Do not fear. - Bhagavad-gītā 18.66Pure love for Kṛṣṇa is eternally established in the hearts of the living entities. It is not something to be gained from another source. When the heart is purified by hearing and chanting, this love naturally awakens. - Śrī Caitanya-caritāmṛta, Madhya-līlā 22.107 By chanting the holy name of the Lord, one dissolves his entanglement in material activities. After this, one becomes very attracted to Krishna, and thus dormant love for Krishna is awakened. - Śrī Caitanya-caritāmṛta, Madhya-līlā 15.109 Chapters 00:00:00 Introduction to Dharma vs Sanatana Dharma 00:05:50 Deeper Understanding of Dharma 00:06:28 Srila Bhaktivedanta Swami Prabhupada's Teachings on Sanatana Dharma 00:08:31 The Bhagavad Gita's Apparent Contradiction 00:12:17 Arjuna's Dilemma and Krishna's First Instruction 00:15:35 The Nature of the Eternal Soul 00:17:48 Varieties of Dharma in the Bhagavad Gita 00:22:06 The Temporary Nature of Vanashram Dharma 00:25:31 Self-Realization and the Three Essential Questions 00:29:46 The Position and Relationship of the Soul 00:31:09 The Natural Function and Characteristics of the Soul 00:35:10 Service as the Soul's Natural Expression 00:38:27 Bhakti as Sanatana Dharma 00:41:10 The Awakening of Dormant Love 00:43:22 Free Will and Universal Brotherhood 00:46:04 Conclusion and the Power of Chanting
I gave you this example the other day of a visceral experience I had because a member of our congregation—a mother, had lost her child who was six years old. He had suffered a heart attack and was not revivable. She came to take counsel and solace. She brought with her a little bag that had some money in it; it came from her child's piggy bank. He had been saving that money to do something for Kṛṣṇa, and she had brought it to us and handed it over and said, "Please, would you engage this for the benefit of my departed son, who was six years old? This is all he had, as far as money goes." When my wife and I took that into our possession, we considered it sacred. There was no conception that we would stop on the way home and buy a snow cone with it. The idea of enjoying the material world is equally as odious to a person who has understood reality—that everything belongs to Kṛṣṇa (bhoktāraṃ yajña-tapasāṃ). It's all meant to be engaged in His service. At the end of that third chapter of the Gītā, Arjuna asks, "How to overcome lust?" Kṛṣṇa ends the chapter by saying: evam buddhi-paraṃ buddhvā saṃstabhyātmānam ātmanā jahi śatruṃ mahā-bāho kāma-rūpaṃ durāsadam He says that you should fortify your intelligence. With your intelligence because he said there is a hierarchy: the senses are above the objects, the mind is above the senses, the intelligence is above the mind. So, how do you do that? The way you purify your intellect so you don't do stupid things is by reading the Bhagavad-gītā; that's what it's there for. Everyone ignores the Bhagavad-gītā, and they say, "Give me some rasa-tattva." Nothing against rasa-tattva ; we keep it above our heads, way up there. But the Bhagavad-gītā is where we live, and Kṛṣṇa answers all questions categorically. And then, if you want the nuance of the categories, then you read the whole Śrīmad-Bhāgavatam and Caitanya-caritāmṛta about 108 times—the whole, each one of them—and then you are dissuaded from touching anything in this material world unless you have the intention of offering it to Kṛṣṇa. kurvan nirantaraṁ karma loko 'yam anuvartate tenaiva karmaṇā dhyāyan māṁ parāṁ bhaktim icchati (BS 5.61) This is the whole idea Kṛṣṇa mentions in the five ślokas at the end of the Brahma-saṃhitā. This is the answer to your question Kṛṣṇa gives to Brahmā at the end of the Brahma-saṃhitā. He said everyone has to work; all living entities are engaged in work, can't stop it. Therefore, he said everything you do, you should do with the spirit of devotion to offer to Kṛṣṇa. ------------------------------------------------------------ To connect with His Grace Vaiśeṣika Dāsa, please visit https://www.fanthespark.com/next-steps/ask-vaisesika-dasa/?utm_source=youtube&utm_medium=video&utm_campaign=launch2025 https://vaisesikadasayatra.blogspot.com/ ------------------------------------------------------------ Add to your wisdom literature collection: https://iskconsv.com/book-store/?utm_source=youtube&utm_medium=video&utm_campaign=launch2025 https://www.bbtacademic.com/books/?utm_source=youtube&utm_medium=video&utm_campaign=launch2025 https://thefourquestionsbook.com/?utm_source=youtube&utm_medium=video&utm_campaign=launch2025 ------------------------------------------------------------ Join us live on Facebook: https://www.facebook.com/FanTheSpark/ Podcasts: https://podcasts.apple.com/us/podcast/sound-bhakti/id1132423868 For the latest videos, subscribe https://www.youtube.com/@FanTheSpark For the latest in SoundCloud: https://soundcloud.com/fan-the-spark ------------------------------------------------------------

They at once put me on that plane and carried me away, and when I opened my eyes I saw that everything was different. Shocked, I returned to full consciousness and saw them beside me, the same benefactors I had met before.

This sweetness one can never truly achieve by one's own endeavor.
Bṛhad-bhāgavatāmṛta Part 2 Chapter 3 Text 167 nāmnāṁ tu saṅkīrtanam ārti-bhārān meghaṁ vinā prāvṛṣi cātakānām rātrau viyogāt sva-pate rathāṅgī- vargasya cākrośana-vat pratīhi TRANSLATION Like the distressed crying of the cātaka birds on a cloudless day of the rainy season, or the lamenting of a flock of cakravākī birds when parted from their husbands at night, the saṅkīrtana of the Lord's names arises when one is burdened by too much pain.
Śrī Caitanya Mahāprabhu went to Śrī Vṛndāvana Dhāma. There, he looked for Śrī Rādhā-kuṇḍa, but no one could tell him where it was, as it had been lost in antiquity. While he was wandering in a field, he came upon some cows and a very small pond. Śrī Caitanya Mahāprabhu went there; he felt that Kṛṣṇa-prema had been instilled in that place thousands of years ago, the pastimes of Śrī Śrī Rādhā and Kṛṣṇa at the very same place. To the surprise of everyone in the area, he began to take a bath in that tiny pond and declared it to be the original place of Śrī Rādhā-kuṇḍa. Śrī Caitanya Mahāprabhu invited his most elevated disciples to come to Śrī Vṛndāvana and reveal all the original forests where Rādhā and Kṛṣṇa performed their pastimes. People all over the world now, because of Śrī Caitanya Mahāprabhu, have an opportunity to enter directly into Śrī Vṛndāvana Dhāma; because by worshiping the lotus feet of Śrī Caitanya Mahāprabhu, love for Rādhā and Kṛṣṇa naturally awakens within the heart. And now, in every city of the world, every time zone is covered. At any time, there is Maṅgala-ārati going on somewhere. Somebody is chanting japa, somebody is taking prasādam, someone is reading the Bhāgavatam, someone is chanting a chapter of the Bhagavad-gītā, someone is worshiping the Deity, someone is performing Guru-pūjā, someone is going on saṅkīrtana, and someone is beating Māyāpur. As they are doing so, you can hear them if you listen very carefully. If you listen closely, you can hear a vibration covering the whole planet—"Gaura Kṛpā Hole He!" Bṛhad-bhāgavatāmṛta Part 2 Chapter 3 Text 157 ekākitvena tu dhyānaṁ vivikte khalu sidhyati saṅkīrtanaṁ vivikte 'pi bahūnāṁ saṅgato 'pi ca TRANSLATION Meditation one can successfully perform only in seclusion, but saṅkīrtana either in seclusion or in the company of many others.
Considering the desire of the soul to experience something that is pleasurable—because we're naturally pleasure-seekers—sac-cid-ānanda is our constitution. However, we're limited by the boundary of our own mind. People take intoxication to try to cross that boundary, but then they find themselves degraded. Although they may have a "peak experience" or they may loosen inhibitions—which is one of the ways that people enjoy intoxication, they feel less inhibited—in any case, one's trying to cross a boundary. Śrīla Prabhupāda mentions in the Caitanya-caritāmṛta that by chanting the Hare Kṛṣṇa mahā-mantra, one may come to experience the sound of the mantra as being extraordinary. In other words, it's not routine; it's something that one's never heard before. This is the endeavor of most people: to try to enjoy something, they go to an amusement park to try to have an extraordinary experience—something that is outside of the ordinary. In fact: Ordinary: Comes from ordo, which means "according to order," or closely related with the idea of doing a routine—something you're used to doing according to an order.Extraordinary: Ex means "outside," and tra means "the state of something." So, extra means the state of being outside the ordinary. When you say "extraordinary," it means you've crossed the boundary of the order or the routine. The word mantra, of course, has those two parts: Man: The mind, which is the boundary-place we live in (a small place in our mind) and tra: can mean either a "tool" or trāyate, which means "to deliver." The mantra delivers us from the boundary of our mind. People say, "Well, that's fantastical! How could Kṛṣṇa expand Himself into 16,108 forms, accommodate His queens, and have palaces? That's not possible." This is because we are limited by the boundary of our own minds, and our perceptual horizon is not expanded enough to understand that. The mantra helps us to rise above the mind. When we have a peak experience in chanting, we would resemble what Prabhupāda mentions in his purport: you hear the sound and it is extraordinary. It's beyond what you have heard anywhere else. This is the point at which we may be attracted to the mantra. However, it requires practice, effort, and keeping the mind fixed on the mantra in order to experience such a thing. We may notice that the mind becomes bored because it considers the mantra to be "ordinary." It's helpful to cultivate knowledge that the mantra is not ordinary—it is Kṛṣṇa. It is our attention that becomes ordinary, and we take the mantra to be ordinary because we've not been able to focus on it. Because of rajas (passion), the mind is still seeking another peak experience: "It must be somewhere else." ------------------------------------------------------------ To connect with His Grace Vaiśeṣika Dāsa, please visit https://www.fanthespark.com/next-steps/ask-vaisesika-dasa/?utm_source=youtube&utm_medium=video&utm_campaign=launch2025 https://vaisesikadasayatra.blogspot.com/ ------------------------------------------------------------ Add to your wisdom literature collection: https://iskconsv.com/book-store/?utm_source=youtube&utm_medium=video&utm_campaign=launch2025 https://www.bbtacademic.com/books/?utm_source=youtube&utm_medium=video&utm_campaign=launch2025 https://thefourquestionsbook.com/?utm_source=youtube&utm_medium=video&utm_campaign=launch2025 Join us live on Facebook: https://www.facebook.com/FanTheSpark/ Podcasts: https://podcasts.apple.com/us/podcast/sound-bhakti/id1132423868 For the latest videos, subscribe https://www.youtube.com/@FanTheSpark For the latest in SoundCloud: https://soundcloud.com/fan-the-spark #makejapagreatagain #mantrameditation #chantharekrishnaandbehapy #spiritualawakening #soul #spiritualexperience #spiritualpurposeoflife #spiritualgrowthlessons #secretsofspirituality #vaisesikaprabhu #vaisesikadasa
Bṛhad-bhāgavatāmṛta Part 2 Chapter 3 Text 150 evaṁ prabhor dhyāna-ratair mataś ced buddhyedṛśaṁ tatra vivecanīyam dhyānaṁ parisphūrti-viśeṣa-niṣṭhā sambandha-mātraṁ manasā smṛtir hi TRANSLATION If those attached to meditation on the Lord still insist that remembering is of greater importance, with their intelligence they should make the following distinction: In meditation the Lord reveals Himself fully with His particular qualities, but in remembrance the mind merely comes in contact with the Lord.
Bṛhad-bhāgavatāmṛta Part 2 Chapter 3 Text 146 premṇo 'ntar-aṅgaṁ kila sādhanottamaṁ manyeta kaiścit smaraṇaṁ na kīrtanam ekendriye vāci vicetane sukhaṁ bhaktiḥ sphuraty āśu hi kīrtanātmikā TRANSLATION Some think that remembering, rather than chanting, is the essential means of devotional practice, the means that most effectively leads to prema, for bhakti in the form of chanting appears quickly and easily, and in only one sense, that of speech, which is not itself alive and conscious.
Bṛhad-bhāgavatāmṛta Part 2 Chapter 3 Text 143 tvarā ced vidyate śrīmad- vaikuṇṭhālokane tava sarvābhīṣṭa-prada-śreṣṭhāṁ tāṁ śrī-vraja-bhuvaṁ vraja TRANSLATION If you are in a hurry to see the divine world of Vaikuṇṭha, then go to Śrī Vraja-bhūmi, the place that can best award the fulfillment of all your ambitions.
Bṛhad-bhāgavatāmṛta Part 2 Chapter 3 Text 133 nijendriya-manaḥ-kāya- ceṣṭā-rūpāṁ na viddhi tām nitya-satya-ghanānanda- rūpā sā hi guṇātigā TRANSLATION You should not consider devotional service merely an activity of the body, senses, and mind. It is in fact the eternal absolute reality, manifesting itself as the most intense ecstasy, beyond the material modes.
Bṛhad-bhāgavatāmṛta Part 2 Chapter 3 Text 128 teṣāṁ kasmiṁścid ekasmiñ śraddhayānuṣṭhite sati svayam āvirbhavet premā śrīmat-kṛṣṇa-padābjayoḥ TRANSLATION When one engages with faith in even one of these forms of bhakti, pure love for the lotus feet of Śrī Kṛṣṇa automatically arises.
Bṛhad-bhāgavatāmṛta Part 2 Chapter 3 Text 127 tathāpi tad-rasa-jñaiḥ sā bhaktir nava-vidhāñjasā sampādyate vicitraitad- rasa-mādhurya-labdhaye TRANSLATION Yet devotees who understand the rasas of devotional service may practice all nine forms of bhakti to easily obtain the sweetness of its diverse tastes.
I wrote Our Family Business, and it took me a long time to get started because I had already written the book in my mind. My editor was Kaishori Devi, and every time she'd contact me and say, 'How's it going?' I'd say, 'Great.' She'd say, 'Can you send me something?' I'd say, 'Not really.' Then I realized I actually have to write the book; it can't just be in my mind. But then when I started, I felt as if I was going on a sea journey. Sea journeys—especially if you don't have a compass or you don't have any way to measure how far along you are—are very difficult. I felt during the writing of that book that I was in the middle of an ocean and that I had no idea when the shore was going to show itself. And then I thought: all I can do is keep swimming. I just have to take one sentence at a time, one word at a time, and keep writing. I can't write the whole book; I already tried it—I wrote it in my mind, and my editor didn't accept it! So, we also have to do that work, but we will come to the shore. It's a revelation that Akrūra had. Remember Akrūra going into Vṛndāvana? He talks about how logs float on the water, and then eventually they'll come to rest on the shore. Or the same on the ocean: it comes to the shore of the ocean; eventually, we will come to that point. More than that, however, is Kṛṣṇa's reassurances that if you're engaged in the process of devotional service, you will certainly come to the shore. Regardless of what you think your disqualifications are right now, Kṛṣṇa assures us that if we're sincere and we practice devotional service steadily—not considering any defeat. I'll read you something. One of my favorite purports Prabhupāda wrote is in the Light of the Bhāgavata. I was staying at Govardhana Hill, and there were some devotees that had come along. It was about twenty years ago, and I had come back from Govardhana-parikrama. They were up on the roof. They were like scientists. You know In the Ādi-līlā of Caitanya-caritāmṛta, when Kavirāja Gosvāmī quotes the verse teṣāṁ satata-yuktānāṁ—you know that quotation in the Ādi-līlā—and then in this purport, Prabhupāda says the devotees are like scientists. They study the śāstra, and then they sit together and they discuss, as Prabhupāda said thoroughly, threadbare. You can imagine, you know, two overstuffed chairs with two scientists facing each other—a tweed jacket, maybe a little patch on the arm, you know, professor-like thing, professorial attire—and they're discussing scientific theories. So, Prabhupāda said devotees are like that. So these two devotees were on the roof, and when they saw me come up, they went, 'Come up! Quick, quick, quick!' I came up the stairs. They said, 'I think we found something.' And they read me this...(0:34:36) ------------------------------------------------------------ To connect with His Grace Vaiśeṣika Dāsa, please visit https://www.fanthespark.com/next-steps/ask-vaisesika-dasa/?utm_source=youtube&utm_medium=video&utm_campaign=launch2025 https://vaisesikadasayatra.blogspot.com/
Bṛhad-bhāgavatāmṛta Part 2 Chapter 3 Text 120 śrī-gopa-kumāra uvāca nija-stutyā tayā tasmin hriyā tūṣṇīṁ sthite prabhau bhagavat-pārṣadās te mām āśliṣyocuḥ suhṛd-varāḥ TRANSLATION Śrī Gopa-kumāra said: Abashed at hearing himself praised, Lord Śiva remained silent. Then the associates of Lord Viṣṇu, who were Lord Śiva's dearmost friends, embraced me and spoke.
The main objective of varṇāśrama, is to surrender to Kṛṣṇa ultimately—but while we're practicing Kṛṣṇa consciousness, there are ways in which we can also make sure that we have, so to speak, "two feet on the ground." Consider the fact that chanting Hare Kṛṣṇa is sufficient for going back home, back to Godhead; nothing else is needed. That's proved in the last verse of the Śaraṇāgati by Bhaktivinoda Ṭhākura, where he describes how, by his chanting of the mahā-mantra, Lord Kṛṣṇa personally comes and takes him by the hand—or more accurately, the Holy Name comes and takes him by the hand—back to Godhead, and introduces him to his relationship with the Supreme Personality of Godhead in the spiritual world. However, you'll find in the Caitanya-caritāmṛta that although Lord Caitanya says there's no need for any initiation even for chanting the Holy Name of the Lord, the purport is specifically about (and it's written by Jīva Gosvāmī; Prabhupāda's transcription of his directions on this) that initiation is very much needed because, in order to purely chant Hare Kṛṣṇa, one also has to have the pāñcarātrika system. I'm making a parallel between this and the idea of varṇāśrama, because there's a way in which, when we come into the material world, we're prone to confusion. There are complexities and impurities. Therefore, when we have a regulation of the daivi-varṇāśrama—a way in which we can be properly situated at the various segments of our life when we have a particular psycho-physiological nature—then we can remain steady in the chanting of the Hare Kṛṣṇa mahā-mantra. So, we have a dual existence in this world: we have our body-mind and we are the ātmā. But the endeavor to continue chanting Hare Kṛṣṇa and be engaged is helped by the regulation that we get from the varṇāśrama system. Therefore, the two things complement one another in that sense. However, if somebody thinks that varṇāśrama is the ultimate goal and forgets about Kṛṣṇa, then it's useless and has no real purpose, because it's related to the three modes of material nature. ------------------------------------------------------------ To connect with His Grace Vaiśeṣika Dāsa, please visit https://www.fanthespark.com/next-steps/ask-vaisesika-dasa/?utm_source=youtube&utm_medium=video&utm_campaign=launch2025 https://vaisesikadasayatra.blogspot.com/ ------------------------------------------------------------ Add to your wisdom literature collection: https://iskconsv.com/book-store/?utm_source=youtube&utm_medium=video&utm_campaign=launch2025 https://www.bbtacademic.com/books/?utm_source=youtube&utm_medium=video&utm_campaign=launch2025 https://thefourquestionsbook.com/?utm_source=youtube&utm_medium=video&utm_campaign=launch2025 ------------------------------------------------------------ Join us live on Facebook: https://www.facebook.com/FanTheSpark/ Podcasts: https://podcasts.apple.com/us/podcast/sound-bhakti/id1132423868 For the latest videos, subscribe https://www.youtube.com/@FanTheSpark For the latest in SoundCloud: https://soundcloud.com/fan-the-spark ------------------------------------------------------------ #spiritualawakening #soul #spiritualexperience #spiritualpurposeoflife #spiritualgrowthlessons #secretsofspirituality #vaisesikaprabhu #vaisesikadasa #vaisesikaprabhulectures #spirituality #bhaktiyoga #krishna #spiritualpurposeoflife #krishnaspirituality #spiritualusachannel #whybhaktiisimportant #whyspiritualityisimportant #vaisesika #spiritualconnection #thepowerofspiritualstudy #selfrealization #spirituallectures #spiritualstudy #spiritualquestions #spiritualquestionsanswered #trendingspiritualtopics #fanthespark #spiritualpowerofmeditation #spiritualteachersonyoutube #spiritualhabits #spiritualclarity #bhagavadgita #srimadbhagavatam #spiritualbeings #kttvg #keepthetranscendentalvibrationgoing #spiritualpurpose

In today's sanga, Śrīla Dhanurdhara Swami shares his realizations from his studies and travels.
You'll find in the Caitanya-caritāmṛta that Lord Caitanya says the Holy Name doesn't wait for initiation; it's sufficient for everything. And it is. However, because we're affected by the modes of material nature by dint of taking birth in the material world—especially in Kali-yuga—it's unlikely that one is born as a liberated soul. Therefore, there's provision within the process to maintain a higher state of life through the pañcarātrika-vidhi. You know what I mean by pañcarātrika-vidhi? It means the rules and regulations given for Deity worship; especially, it's a lifestyle. It means that you live clean, in the mode of goodness, so you can approach the Deity without making any offense. Therefore, Jīva Gosvāmī, in his commentary on the verse in which Lord Caitanya Mahāprabhu says the Holy Name is sufficient, says that we must also have pañcarātrika initiation. This means that we have to worship the Deity along with chanting Hare Kṛṣṇa. Otherwise, we'll fall victim to the lower modes of material nature and we won't be able to chant Hare Kṛṣṇa. Oftentimes, people sit to chant Hare Kṛṣṇa and they say, "Man, maybe later; right now, I'll scroll." Then twenty years later, everyone says, 'What happened to you?' and he goes, 'Yeah, what was that mantra? If you could remind me, I'll try starting again.' Therefore, there is this all-encompassing framework given by our ācāryas: you keep yourself clean in your lifestyle by pañcarātrika rules and regulations, and at the same time, you chant Hare Kṛṣṇa. These are what Prabhupāda used to refer to as the 'two train tracks' by which your train can go back home, back to Godhead. ------------------------------------------------------------ To connect with His Grace Vaiśeṣika Dāsa, please visit https://www.fanthespark.com/next-steps/ask-vaisesika-dasa/?utm_source=youtube&utm_medium=video&utm_campaign=launch2025 https://vaisesikadasayatra.blogspot.com/ ------------------------------------------------------------ Add to your wisdom literature collection: https://iskconsv.com/book-store/?utm_source=youtube&utm_medium=video&utm_campaign=launch2025 https://www.bbtacademic.com/books/?utm_source=youtube&utm_medium=video&utm_campaign=launch2025 https://thefourquestionsbook.com/?utm_source=youtube&utm_medium=video&utm_campaign=launch2025 ------------------------------------------------------------ Join us live on Facebook: https://www.facebook.com/FanTheSpark/ Podcasts: https://podcasts.apple.com/us/podcast/sound-bhakti/id1132423868 For the latest videos, subscribe https://www.youtube.com/@FanTheSpark For the latest in SoundCloud: https://soundcloud.com/fan-the-spark ------------------------------------------------------------ #spiritualawakening #soul #spiritualexperience #spiritualpurposeoflife #spiritualgrowthlessons #secretsofspirituality #vaisesikaprabhu #vaisesikadasa #vaisesikaprabhulectures #spirituality #bhaktiyoga #krishna #spiritualpurposeoflife #krishnaspirituality #spiritualusachannel #whybhaktiisimportant #whyspiritualityisimportant #vaisesika #spiritualconnection #thepowerofspiritualstudy #selfrealization #spirituallectures #spiritualstudy #spiritualquestions #spiritualquestionsanswered #trendingspiritualtopics #fanthespark #spiritualpowerofmeditation #spiritualteachersonyoutube #spiritualhabits #spiritualclarity #bhagavadgita #srimadbhagavatam #spiritualbeings #kttvg #keepthetranscendentalvibrationgoing #spiritualpurpose

I really want to thank Divyanāma Prabhu and Śraddhā Devī Dāsī for threading the needle, because it's not so easy to land in all these places and have a stretch of time that we've had to sit here and do bhajan. I keep resonating with the cleaning ladies who asked Ānanda Vrindāvana if we all live in one āśrama back in California, and she said, "No, we're from all over the world," but these yātrās are like living in one āśrama and having the opportunity to see what it's like. See how you like it—just hearing and chanting and going to holy places. And if you do like it, then you're really lucky, because this is life. The other part of the life is to take whatever drop we get and give it to as many people as possible. The spiritual mathematics given in the Caitanya-caritāmṛt is: the more you give it out, the more it swells in our own lives. Dear Śrīla Prabhupāda, dear Śrī Caitanya Mahāprabhu, dear Śrīla Sārvabhauma Bhaṭṭācārya, Śrīla Rāmānanda Rāya, Śrīla Svarūpa Dāmodara, and all the residents of Jagannātha Purī who are followers of Lord Caitanya Mahāprabhu: If You so desire, please instill in our hearts a drop of the mercy of Śrī Caitanya Mahāprabhu—for You are His great devotees—so that we can follow in the footsteps of Lord Caitanya by following the footsteps of Śrīla Prabhupāda and his followers, and bring millions and millions of people back here to Jagannātha Purī to chant, dance, and live in one huge āśrama. Make the whole world one āśrama with everyone chanting and hearing. Thank you for considering our request. ------------------------------------------------------------ To connect with His Grace Vaiśeṣika Dāsa, please visit https://www.fanthespark.com/next-steps/ask-vaisesika-dasa/?utm_source=youtube&utm_medium=video&utm_campaign=launch2025 https://vaisesikadasayatra.blogspot.com/ ------------------------------------------------------------ Add to your wisdom literature collection: https://iskconsv.com/book-store/?utm_source=youtube&utm_medium=video&utm_campaign=launch2025 https://www.bbtacademic.com/books/?utm_source=youtube&utm_medium=video&utm_campaign=launch2025 https://thefourquestionsbook.com/?utm_source=youtube&utm_medium=video&utm_campaign=launch2025 ------------------------------------------------------------ Join us live on Facebook: https://www.facebook.com/FanTheSpark/ Podcasts: https://podcasts.apple.com/us/podcast/sound-bhakti/id1132423868 For the latest videos, subscribe https://www.youtube.com/@FanTheSpark For the latest in SoundCloud: https://soundcloud.com/fan-the-spark ------------------------------------------------------------ #pilgrimageoftheheart #spiritualawakening #soul #spiritualexperience #spiritualpurposeoflife #spiritualgrowthlessons #secretsofspirituality #vaisesikaprabhu #vaisesikadasa #vaisesikaprabhulectures #spirituality #bhaktiyoga #krishna #spiritualpurposeoflife #krishnaspirituality #spiritualusachannel #whybhaktiisimportant #whyspiritualityisimportant #vaisesika #spiritualconnection #thepowerofspiritualstudy #selfrealization #spirituallectures #spiritualstudy #spiritualquestions #spiritualquestionsanswered #trendingspiritualtopics #fanthespark #spiritualpowerofmeditation #spiritualteachersonyoutube #spiritualhabits #spiritualclarity #bhagavadgita #srimadbhagavatam #spiritualbeings
Bṛhad-bhāgavatāmṛta Part 2 Chapter 3 Text 80 tad-darśana-svabhāvottha- praharṣākṛṣṭa-mānasaḥ nājñāsiṣaṁ kim apy antar bahiś cānyan nija-priyam TRANSLATION So attracted was my mind by the spontaneous joy of seeing them that I was aware of nothing but them, internally or externally, not even things most dear to me.
We also find later on, after Caitanya Mahāprabhu, there was a deficit, and the teachings of Caitanya Mahāprabhu were not readily available. Even the Śrī Caitanya-caritāmṛta—which was the ultimate of all teachings of Śrī Caitanya Mahāprabhu and the synthesis of the Śrīmad-Bhāgavatam—was not readily available. So much so that Bhaktivinoda Ṭhākura, the great ācārya, was looking for the Caitanya-caritāmṛta and could not find a single copy anywhere. The teachings of Caitanya Mahāprabhu had been not just obscured, but also perverted in many different ways. So, we can't take for granted that the product is available. But now it is, and that's due to the mercy of Śrī Caitanya Mahāprabhu, Lord Nityānanda, and the devotees who have carried on the tradition. This morning, on an early walk hoping to see the sunrise, it was a beautiful, painted sky, I was thinking of a lyric—or perhaps just an idiom—from modern American society: "Be true to your school." Is it a lyric from a song? Sounds like the Beach Boys or something. I was thinking about what a "school" is. A school is a consolidation of knowledge meant to uplift us; that's really the idea. Humans have an urge for that. They want to be in a place where they can take advantage of all the best knowledge the world has to offer. Nowadays, it has become a little more vocationally oriented, but previously, classical education had to do with bringing all the best books, teachings, and teachers together in one place. That's what universities were for: to get well-grounded in knowledge and gain a wider context and view of the world. Then, as one has a grounding in knowledge, one can also discern what is "the best." That's the idea of Vedānta. There's knowledge, and then there's the end of knowledge. Of course, if one just studies endlessly, it never comes to a conclusion. There are ways in which people say, "When are you going to graduate?" or "When are you going to finish?" You get a doctorate, then a post-doc—and then what do you have? What do you do after that? We're not meant simply to study endlessly and come to no conclusion. Even Socrates and Plato talked about coming to an ultimate conclusion. It's not that we just break everything down and are fascinated by the process; there should be a development of character (that's more Aristotle). We should also discern the purpose of life and what we should be aiming for as human beings—something to aim for. So all of that comes to bear in the teachings of Lord Caitanya Mahāprabhu. But what's most unusual and fantastic about Caitanya Mahāprabhu, whom we're celebrating today and tomorrow, is that...0:04:19 ------------------------------------------------------------ To connect with His Grace Vaiśeṣika Dāsa, please visit https://www.fanthespark.com/next-steps/ask-vaisesika-dasa/?utm_source=youtube&utm_medium=video&utm_campaign=launch2025 https://vaisesikadasayatra.blogspot.com/ ------------------------------------------------------------ Add to your wisdom literature collection: https://iskconsv.com/book-store/?utm_source=youtube&utm_medium=video&utm_campaign=launch2025 https://www.bbtacademic.com/books/?utm_source=youtube&utm_medium=video&utm_campaign=launch2025 https://thefourquestionsbook.com/?utm_source=youtube&utm_medium=video&utm_campaign=launch2025 ------------------------------------------------------------ Join us live on Facebook: https://www.facebook.com/FanTheSpark/ Podcasts: https://podcasts.apple.com/us/podcast/sound-bhakti/id1132423868 For the latest videos, subscribe https://www.youtube.com/@FanTheSpark For the latest in SoundCloud: https://soundcloud.com/fan-the-spark ------------------------------------------------------------ #spiritualawakening #soul #spiritualexperience #
On the day of Śrī Caitanya's appearance, this episode is a crash course in what makes His gift of bhakti so special. Raghunath and Kaustubha explore His followers' central claim: Caitanya isn't a saint among many, but Kṛṣṇa Himself—appearing with Rādhārāṇī's mood, drawn by one "impossible" desire: to experience the love She feels… and then share it with the world. They also unpack why the Hare Kṛṣṇa mahāmantra is treated as more than a spiritual soundtrack—it's a direct entryway into the highest love: beyond ritual, beyond liberation, and beyond the spiritual ego's favorite résumé. ******************************************************************** LOVE THE PODCAST? We find in Vṛndāvana that those who are cowherd boys play with Kṛṣṇa, and they sometimes jump on His back. That's not in the arcana-paddhati. I was thinking about what that means because, according to one's relationship, there's a way in which we can be more casual with people. For instance, I've noticed with my relationships that there are gradations of intimacy in friendship—just talking about friendship. There are friends that I've known forever, we've been through a lot together, and we're like-minded. There's a closeness there that allows us to, for example, make jokes at the other's expense. In other words, you say something to 'degrade' the other person, and they think it's hilarious because there's a channel there that allows that—it's a deep expression of friendship. You know, there are people I could knock in the arm. I wouldn't do it that hard, but kind of softly walking by—like in a kīrtana. You know, if I'm walking by in a crowded room full of kīrtana and I just sort of put my arm around somebody and kept walking, or nudged them... I wouldn't do that to everybody. There are certain Godbrothers, yeah, we're friends, but not that kind of friends. They would be like, 'Why did he just punch me in the arm?' You know, love conquers all. There's a way in which the rules and regulations are there, but then the affection factor opens a channel so that those things aren't considered. Because why are the considerations there in the first place? Especially in the material world, there's a sense of: "Don't overstep your boundaries and violate somebody else's sovereignty," as everyone's envious of everybody else, so you have to be really careful. There are etiquettes that act as guardrails to protect us. But when there's love and trust, as Prabhupāda pointed out, then those guardrails aren't necessary to the degree they were before. So these things are carefully considered. For instance, take the līlā in the Caitanya-caritāmṛta of when Govinda is daily taking care of the transcendental body of Śrī Caitanya Mahāprabhu. This has to do with rules and regulations also, because Govinda happened to be..(0:35:47) ------------------------------------------------------------ To connect with His Grace Vaiśeṣika Dāsa, please visit https://www.fanthespark.com/next-steps/ask-vaisesika-dasa/?utm_source=youtube&utm_medium=video&utm_campaign=launch2025 https://vaisesikadasayatra.blogspot.com/ ------------------------------------------------------------ Add to your wisdom literature collection: https://iskconsv.com/book-store/?utm_source=youtube&utm_medium=video&utm_campaign=launch2025 https://www.bbtacademic.com/books/?utm_source=youtube&utm_medium=video&utm_campaign=launch2025 https://thefourquestionsbook.com/?utm_source=youtube&utm_medium=video&utm_campaign=launch2025 ------------------------------------------------------------ Join us live on Facebook: https://www.facebook.com/FanTheSpark/ Podcasts: https://podcasts.apple.com/us/podcast/sound-bhakti/id1132423868 For the latest videos, subscribe https://www.youtube.com/@FanTheSpark For the latest in SoundCloud: https://soundcloud.com/fan-the-spark ------------------------------------------------------------ #pilgrimageoftheheart #spiritualawakening #soul #spiritualexperience #spiritualpurposeoflife #spiritualgrowthlessons #secretsofspirituality #vaisesikaprabhu #vaisesikadasa #vaisesikaprabhulectures #spirituality #bhaktiyoga #krishna #spiritualpurposeoflife #krishnaspirituality #spiritualusachannel #whybhaktiisimportant #whyspiritualityisimportant #vaisesika #spiritualconnection #thepowerofspiritualstudy #selfrealization #spirituallectures #spiritualstudy #spiritualquestions #spiritualquestionsanswered #trendingspiritualtopics #fanthespark #spiritualpowerofmeditation #spiritualteachersonyoutube #spiritualhabits #spiritualclarity #bhagavadgita #srimadbhagavatam #spiritualbeings #kttvg #keepthetranscendentalvibrationgoing #spiritualpurpose
In the place we were today, Toṭā Gopīnātha—affectionately known as Toṭā Gopīnātha, because toṭā means "garden," Caitanya Mahāprabhu used to meet with Gadādhara Paṇḍita there daily to hear Bhāgavatam as revealed in the Caitanya-bhāgavata. Caitanya Mahāprabhu himself had some difficulty in reading the Bhāgavatam. Does anybody remember what it was? Too many tears. He destroyed his own copy from the tears; it was the same with doing any kind of pūjā. Gadādhara Paṇḍita is the internal potency of the Lord in the Pañca-tattva; He is Śrīmatī Rādhārāṇī. Caitanya Mahāprabhu met there at that garden regularly to hear Śrīmad-Bhāgavatam from Gadādhara Paṇḍita. This is an indication of the eternal pastime of the Lord, which is to hear Śrīmad-Bhāgavatam in the association of devotees. It is also one of the five most recommended out of sixty-four items of devotional service: to find a toṭā somewhere. In fact, it's necessary because I find that most places are fraught with distraction. If you go to Vṛndāvana, for instance, during festival times, and you walk from one end of the property to the other to get to your apartment, you'll be stopped by no less than ten people saying, "Hey, are you still doing that stuff and the thing?" and it takes a while. What's more, someone may come rapping at your door at any time, day or night, with a delivery or a question or something like that. So, finding a secluded place—like Caitanya Mahāprabhu repaired to the garden with Gadādhara Paṇḍita—and steadily hearing Śrīmad-Bhāgavatam over a long time is medicinal. In fact, we find in our experimentation with this technique (in the way of emulating Caitanya Mahāprabhu and Gadādhara Paṇḍita) going to a place in Govardhana Hill we found that since most people don't make it out of the orbit of Vṛndāvana—so it's hard to get out there to Govardhana, It's a gated community, you only come through the gate if you have a purpose there. Taking time to just hear the Bhāgavatam and Prabhupāda's purports, it's as if there's a hologram in the room where Prabhupāda is personally manifesting, and Kṛṣṇa is personally manifesting. Śrīla Prabhupāda referred to it just now when he thanked Śrī Nārada for kindly appearing in the chapter. This is not hyperbole or imagination; it's the truth. The transcendental personalities are present in the sound vibration. How much medicine does one need to overcome the anarthas that plague one? A lot! Some people are so-called humans. According to the śāstra, dvipada-paśu, they are called 'two-legged animals.' Doesn't matter if you take to the path given by the ācāryas, and especially because Nityānanda Prabhu noticed that a lot of people were being cut off from the mercy. The mercy had been dammed up. Bhaktivinoda Ṭhākura sings about this in his song 'Nitāi Gaura Mani'—such a beautiful song. People like to dam up the mercy in religious institutions. They discover some niche, and then they want to stay in their niche—a little hole in the wall somewhere where they have some designated power. And then they want to make sure nobody else gets it unless it's through them. So, Nityānanda Prabhu and Lord Caitanya came. Specifically mentioned in 'Nitāi Gaura Mani,' Nityānanda Prabhu cut a channel. He said, "The heck with this damming-it-up business; it has to be distributed to the whole world." So he cut the channel so the mercy could flow out to everybody. In this age of Kali-yuga, the members of the Pañca-tattva didn't consider who was a fit or unfit candidate. So, how do we come into a place like this? When I was traveling with one of my senior godbrothers in many places around the dhāms, we used to travel together, and we noticed...(04:17) ------------------------------------------------------------ To connect with His Grace Vaiśeṣika Dāsa, please visit https://www.fanthespark.com/next-steps/ask-vaisesika-dasa/?utm_source=youtube&utm_medium=video&utm_campaign=launch2025 https://vaisesikadasayatra.blogspot.com/ ------------------------------------------------------------ Add to your wisdom literature collection: https://iskconsv.com/book-store/?utm_source=youtube&utm_medium=video&utm_campaign=launch2025 https://www.bbtacademic.com/books/?utm_source=youtube&utm_medium=video&utm_campaign=launch2025 https://thefourquestionsbook.com/?utm_source=youtube&utm_medium=video&utm_campaign=launch2025 ------------------------------------------------------------ Join us live on Facebook: https://www.facebook.com/FanTheSpark/ Podcasts: https://podcasts.apple.com/us/podcast/sound-bhakti/id1132423868 For the latest videos, subscribe https://www.youtube.com/@FanTheSpark For the latest in SoundCloud: https://soundcloud.com/fan-the-spark ------------------------------------------------------------ #pilgrimageoftheheart #spiritualawakening #soul #spiritualexperience #spiritualpurposeoflife #spiritualgrowthlessons #secretsofspirituality #vaisesikaprabhu #vaisesikadasa #vaisesikaprabhulectures #spirituality #bhaktiyoga #krishna #spiritualpurposeoflife #krishnaspirituality #spiritualusachannel #whybhaktiisimportant #whyspiritualityisimportant #vaisesika #spiritualconnection #thepowerofspiritualstudy #selfrealization #spirituallectures #spiritualstudy #spiritualquestions #spiritualquestionsanswered #trendingspiritualtopics #fanthespark #spiritualpowerofmeditation #spiritualteachersonyoutube #spiritualhabits #spiritualclarity #bhagavadgita #srimadbhagavatam #spiritualbeings #kttvg #keepthetranscendentalvibrationgoing #spiritualpurpose
Infamously, in Los Angeles, after the Caitanya-caritāmṛta came out, there were some devotees who were overly intelligent, and they thought, “We are going to beat the system by forming a group that would be so exclusive in hearing that we'll only hear pastimes from a particular section of the Śrī Caitanya-caritāmṛta—and those would have to be mādhurya‑līlā, nothing else. Don't even bring the Bhagavad-gītā into the room.” Prabhupāda said that those devotees who engaged in that were mistaken because they lacked qualification to do such things. Therefore, Śrīla Bhaktisiddhānta had given a mantra indicating that for those types of topics, we have to be very careful. He said, “We keep them above our heads.” We're down here at 'vāco vegaṁ manasaḥ krodha‑vegaṁ'—you start there, and when Kṛṣṇa wants you, He'll come and get you. That's the mood of cultivating. Spiritual world is 100% bliss, and nobody is left out of anything, because Kṛṣṇa is unlimited. His way of reciprocating with everyone is unlimited. Here we find Yaśodā mentioned as the greatest devotee. We'll find others mentioned as the greatest devotees also. And considering rasa, the gopīs have the thickest and most qualities and ways of serving Kṛṣṇa. And it's not a question of what I want—“What would I be happy with in serving Kṛṣṇa? What do I want?” When one develops and goes through the śānta‑rasa of not being interested in the material world, then comes—as Prabhupāda mentioned—dāsya‑rasa: “Oh, can I do something for You?” Then it thickens at different levels. But as mentioned in the Bṛhad‑bhāgavatāmṛta, every devotee is fully satisfied with their mode of worshiping Kṛṣṇa, but they are also aware of the hierarchy. And they are also very humble, as you'll see from the ways in which Nārada Muni goes to each devotee and asks, “I heard you're the best,” and they reply, “Me? I've got nothing,” and point to the next one. Even coming to the residents of Vṛndāvana—which is where the hierarchy leads to the top—they say, “Who are we? All these devotees are better than us.” (0:46:45) ------------------------------------------------------------ To connect with His Grace Vaiśeṣika Dāsa, please visit https://www.fanthespark.com/next-steps/ask-vaisesika-dasa/?utm_source=youtube&utm_medium=video&utm_campaign=launch2025 https://vaisesikadasayatra.blogspot.com/ ------------------------------------------------------------ Add to your wisdom literature collection: https://iskconsv.com/book-store/?utm_source=youtube&utm_medium=video&utm_campaign=launch2025 https://www.bbtacademic.com/books/?utm_source=youtube&utm_medium=video&utm_campaign=launch2025 https://thefourquestionsbook.com/?utm_source=youtube&utm_medium=video&utm_campaign=launch2025 ------------------------------------------------------------ Join us live on Facebook: https://www.facebook.com/FanTheSpark/ Podcasts: https://podcasts.apple.com/us/podcast/sound-bhakti/id1132423868 For the latest videos, subscribe https://www.youtube.com/@FanTheSpark For the latest in SoundCloud: https://soundcloud.com/fan-the-spark ------------------------------------------------------------ #pilgrimageoftheheart #jagannathpuri #spiritualawakening #soul #spiritualexperience #spiritualpurposeoflife #spiritualgrowthlessons #secretsofspirituality #vaisesikaprabhu #vaisesikadasa #vaisesikaprabhulectures #spirituality #bhaktiyoga #krishna #spiritualpurposeoflife #krishnaspirituality #spiritualusachannel #whybhaktiisimportant #whyspiritualityisimportant #vaisesika #spiritualconnection #thepowerofspiritualstudy #selfrealization #spirituallectures #spiritualstudy #spiritualquestions #spiritualquestionsanswered #trendingspiritualtopics #fanthespark #spiritualpowerofmeditation #spiritualteachersonyoutube #spiritualhabits #spiritualclarity #bhagavadgita #srimadbhagavatam #spiritualbeings #kttvg #keepthetranscendentalvibrationgoing #spiritualpurpose
As global uncertainty hums in the background, this moment in history feels both fragile and purposeful. Moving between history, theology, and lived experience, Raghunath and Kaustubha reflect on pilgrimage, mercy, and the distinct generosity of Śrī Caitanya's path. Broadcast from Śrīdhāma Māyāpur, they explore how bhakti continues to shape culture in India and beyond and why spiritual emotion often arises not from sentimentality, but from a sudden recognition of the gift one has received. ******************************************************************** LOVE THE PODCAST?
