Hari Hari Biphale By Śrīla Narottama Dāsa Ṭhākura (Iṣṭa Deve Vijñapti - Prayer to One's Beloved Lord) (from Prārthanā) 1 hari hari! biphale janama goṅāinu manuṣya-janama pāiyā, rādhā-kṛṣṇa nā bhajiyā, jāniyā śuniyā biṣa khāinu O Lord Hari, I have spent my life uselessly. Having obtained a human birth and having not worshiped Rādhā and Kṛṣṇa, I have knowingly drunk poison. 2 golokera prema-dhana, hari-nāma-saṅkīrtana, rati nā janmilo kene tāy saṁsāra-biṣānale, dibā-niśi hiyā jwale, jurāite nā koinu upāy The treasure of divine love in Goloka Vṛndāvana has descended as the congregational chanting of Lord Hari's holy names. Why did my attraction for that chanting never come about? Day and night my heart burns from the fire of the poison of worldliness, and I have not taken the means to relieve it. 3 brajendra-nandana jei, śacī-suta hoilo sei, balarāma hoilo nitāi dīna-hīna jata chilo, hari-nāme uddhārilo, tāra śākṣī jagāi mādhāi Lord Kṛṣṇa, who is the son of the King of Vraja, became the son of Śacī (Lord Caitanya), and Balarāma became Nitāi. The holy name delivered all those souls who were lowly and wretched. The two sinners Jagāi and Mādhāi are evidence of this. 4 hā hā prabhu nanda-suta, vṛṣabhānu-sutā-juta, koruṇā karoho ei-bāro narottama-dāsa koy, nā ṭheliho rāṅgā pāy, tomā bine ke āche āmāra O Lord Kṛṣṇa, son of Nanda, accompanied by the daughter of Vṛṣabhānu, please be merciful to me now. Narottama dāsa says, “O Lord, please do not push me away from Your reddish lotus feet, for who is my beloved except for You?” To connect with His Grace Vaiśeṣika Dāsa, please visit https://www.fanthespark.com/next-steps/ask-vaisesika-dasa/?utm_source=youtube&utm_medium=video&utm_campaign=launch2025 https://vaisesikadasayatra.blogspot.com/ ------------------------------------------------------------ Add to your wisdom literature collection: https://iskconsv.com/book-store/?utm_source=youtube&utm_medium=video&utm_campaign=launch2025 https://www.bbtacademic.com/books/?utm_source=youtube&utm_medium=video&utm_campaign=launch2025 https://thefourquestionsbook.com/?utm_source=youtube&utm_medium=video&utm_campaign=launch2025 ------------------------------------------------------------ Join us live on Facebook: https://www.facebook.com/FanTheSpark/ Podcasts: https://podcasts.apple.com/us/podcast/sound-bhakti/id1132423868 For the latest videos, subscribe https://www.youtube.com/@FanTheSpark For the latest in SoundCloud: https://soundcloud.com/fan-the-spark ------------------------------------------------------------ #makejapagreatagain #mantrameditation #chantharekrishnaandbehappy #spiritualawakening #soul #spiritualexperience #spiritualpurposeoflife #spiritualgrowthlessons #secretsofspirituality #vaisesikaprabhu #vaisesikadasa #vaisesikaprabhulectures #spirituality #bhaktiyoga #krishna #spiritualpurposeoflife #krishnaspirituality #spiritualusachannel #whybhaktiisimportant #whyspiritualityisimportant #vaisesika #spiritualconnection #thepowerofspiritualstudy #selfrealization #spirituallectures #spiritualstudy #spiritualquestions #spiritualquestionsanswered #trendingspiritualtopics #fanthespark #spiritualpowerofmeditation #spiritualteachersonyoutube #spiritualhabits #spiritualclarity #bhagavadgita #srimadbhagavatam #spiritualbeings #kttvg #keepthetranscendentalvibrationgoing #spiritualpurpose
Regarding the word determination, it has the word terminus in it, which means an ending point. Those who are determined finish their vow of chanting—or, by finishing your vow of chanting, you can be considered determined, or see that you're determined. When we visited Jagannātha Dāsa Bābājī Mahārāja's samādhi, one of his descendants there was speaking about how he used to talk to his disciples about chanting and say: "The most important aspect of your daily practice is to finish your vow of chanting. No matter what else happens in the world or in your life, make sure that you finish, and by that you'll advance in devotional service. In the 87th chapter of the Bhagavatam, 10th Canto, 'Prayers by the Personified Vedas,' Prabhupada comments in the Krsna book, in his commentary on that chapter, that the most munificent of all of the Lord's pastimes—the Lord has many pastimes—the best of all of them is His rescuing the living entities from the material world. Now, if you help Him in that, what is your position? You may think, "I'm nobody." Fine, but you are now because Prabhupada said, "Kindly help me." If you take it up and you feel, "I'm fortunate, why shouldn't I make other people fortunate? I have medicine. Why shouldn't I distribute the medicine?" Then this is the heart of the Saṅkīrtana movement, and this is high sādhana. tapyante loka-tāpena sādhavaḥ prāyaśo janāḥ paramārādhanaṁ tad dhi puruṣasyākhilātmanaḥ That's a comment that Śukadeva Gosvāmī makes (SB 8.7.44) about Lord Śiva, you know, during the pastime in the Eighth Canto when Śiva sees the universe is going to be destroyed by the poison halāhala that's coming out of the churning of the milk ocean. He goes for the sake of all living beings and he drinks it so no one would be poisoned. Then Śukadeva said, "See, vaiṣṇavānāṁ yathā śambhuḥ." He's the greatest of Vaiṣṇavas. What do Vaiṣṇavas do? They try to save others. That's the whole purpose—not to go to a cave, and not to claim some exclusive right, not to sequester oneself while everyone else is suffering, but to go out to Kensington Market, and Bloor and Spadina, and Dufferin Mall, and the old beat-up county courthouse or whatever that place is, and wherever people are, that's where we want to be. I first offer my respectful obeisances to His Divine Grace A.C. Bhaktivedanta Swami Prabhupāda, who said, "So kindly help me," and he readily engaged anyone who came forward with some enthusiasm to help expand the flood of the ocean of love of God—which is flowing all over the world, but it needs to be expanded at this very moment, much wider and broader, to inundate the world. Śrī Caitanya Mahāprabhu appeared over 500 years ago, and as is mentioned in the Śrī Caitanya-caritāmṛta, the members of the Pañca-tattva danced and chanted the Hare Kṛṣṇa mahā-mantra and enjoyed the fruits of love of God, and then they distributed them to people everywhere without considering who was a fit or unfit candidate. The more that they distributed it, the more the contents increased. This is spiritual mathematics: the way in which, by distributing Kṛṣṇa consciousness to others, it increases in our own hearts. As mentioned by Prabodhānanda Sarasvatī Ṭhākura, the more we dance in ecstasy to the beat of the kīrtana and the Hare Kṛṣṇa mahā-mantra, the more we go door to door and street to street to offer people an opportunity to come in contact with the Pañca-tattva and also dance in ecstasy, the more the mellows of Vṛndāvana and Śrīmatī Rādhārāṇī's mercy flood our hearts. This is our process for coming in contact with Vṛndāvana; otherwise, no one can enter that place. You don't have to divert your attention anywhere else. It's all complete there, and therefore Rūpa Gosvāmī begins his Nāmāṣṭakam, verses that I'll comment on over the next several days: that you can fully surrender there, put your full attention, and that's one of the most important aspects of chanting japa. "Nām binā kichi nāhi ko'r, catur-daśa bhuvan-mājhe." Bhaktivinoda Ṭhākura says, "Don't look anywhere else. There's nothing else to be had in all of the fourteen worlds except the Holy Name." One of the ways to keep the mind focused is to just know that everything comes from the Holy Name. Everything attainable comes from the Holy Name. ------------------------------------------------------------ To connect with His Grace Vaiśeṣika Dāsa, please visit https://www.fanthespark.com/next-steps/ask-vaisesika-dasa/?utm_source=youtube&utm_medium=video&utm_campaign=launch2025 https://vaisesikadasayatra.blogspot.com/ ------------------------------------------------------------ Add to your wisdom literature collection: https://iskconsv.com/book-store/?utm_source=youtube&utm_medium=video&utm_campaign=launch2025 https://www.bbtacademic.com/books/?utm_source=youtube&utm_medium=video&utm_campaign=launch2025 https://thefourquestionsbook.com/?utm_source=youtube&utm_medium=video&utm_campaign=launch2025 ------------------------------------------------------------ Join us live on Facebook: https://www.facebook.com/FanTheSpark/ Podcasts: https://podcasts.apple.com/us/podcast/sound-bhakti/id1132423868 For the latest videos, subscribe https://www.youtube.com/@FanTheSpark For the latest in SoundCloud: https://soundcloud.com/fan-the-spark ------------------------------------------------------------ #mantrameditation #makejapagreatagain #spiritualawakening #soul #spiritualexperience #spiritualpurposeoflife #spiritualgrowthlessons #secretsofspirituality #vaisesikaprabhu #vaisesikadasa #vaisesikaprabhulectures #spirituality #bhaktiyoga #krishna #spiritualpurposeoflife #krishnaspirituality #spiritualusachannel #whybhaktiisimportant #whyspiritualityisimportant #vaisesika #spiritualconnection #thepowerofspiritualstudy #selfrealization #spirituallectures #spiritualstudy #spiritualquestions #spiritualquestionsanswered #trendingspiritualtopics #fanthespark #spiritualpowerofmeditation #spiritualteachersonyoutube #spiritualhabits #spiritualclarity #bhagavadgita #srimadbhagavatam #spiritualbeings #kttvg #keepthetranscendentalvibrationgoing #spiritualpurpose
Caitanya Mahāprabhu's leading Lord Jagannātha toward the Guṇḍicā temple corresponded to Śrīmatī Rādhārāṇī's leading Kṛṣṇa toward Vṛndāvana. Śrī Kṣetra, Jagannātha Purī, was taken as the kingdom of Dvārakā, the place where Kṛṣṇa enjoys supreme opulence. But He was being led by Śrī Caitanya Mahāprabhu to Vṛndāvana, the simple village where all the inhabitants are filled with ecstatic love for Kṛṣṇa. Śrī Kṣetra is a place of aiśvarya-līlā, just as Vṛndāvana is the place of mādhurya-līlā. Śrī Caitanya Mahāprabhu's following at the rear of the ratha indicated that Lord Jagannātha, Kṛṣṇa, was forgetting the inhabitants of Vṛndāvana. Although Kṛṣṇa neglected the inhabitants of Vṛndāvana, He could not forget them. Thus in His opulent Ratha-yātrā, He was returning to Vṛndāvana. In the role of Śrīmatī Rādhārāṇī, Śrī Caitanya Mahāprabhu was examining whether the Lord still remembered the inhabitants of Vṛndāvana. When Caitanya Mahāprabhu fell behind the Ratha car, Jagannātha-deva, Kṛṣṇa Himself, understood the mind of Śrīmatī Rādhārāṇī. Therefore, Jagannātha sometimes fell behind the dancing Śrī Caitanya Mahāprabhu to indicate to Śrīmatī Rādhārāṇī that He had not forgotten. Thus Lord Jagannātha would stop the forward march of the ratha and wait at a standstill. In this way Lord Jagannātha agreed that without the ecstasy of Śrīmatī Rādhārāṇī He could not feel satisfied. While Jagannātha was thus waiting, Gaurasundara, Caitanya Mahāprabhu, in His ecstasy of Śrīmatī Rādhārāṇī, immediately came forward to Kṛṣṇa. At such times, Lord Jagannātha would proceed ahead very slowly. These competitive exchanges were all part of the love affair between Kṛṣṇa and Śrīmatī Rādhārāṇī. In that competition between Lord Caitanya's ecstasy for Jagannātha and Jagannātha's ecstasy for Śrīmatī Rādhārāṇī, Caitanya Mahāprabhu emerged successful. https://vedabase.io/en/library/cc/madhya/13/119/ ------------------------------------------------------------ To connect with His Grace Vaiśeṣika Dāsa, please visit https://www.fanthespark.com/next-steps/ask-vaisesika-dasa/?utm_source=youtube&utm_medium=video&utm_campaign=launch2025 https://vaisesikadasayatra.blogspot.com/ ------------------------------------------------------------ Add to your wisdom literature collection: https://iskconsv.com/book-store/?utm_source=youtube&utm_medium=video&utm_campaign=launch2025 https://www.bbtacademic.com/books/?utm_source=youtube&utm_medium=video&utm_campaign=launch2025 https://thefourquestionsbook.com/?utm_source=youtube&utm_medium=video&utm_campaign=launch2025 ------------------------------------------------------------ Join us live on Facebook: https://www.facebook.com/FanTheSpark/ Podcasts: https://podcasts.apple.com/us/podcast/sound-bhakti/id1132423868 For the latest videos, subscribe https://www.youtube.com/@FanTheSpark For the latest in SoundCloud: https://soundcloud.com/fan-the-spark ------------------------------------------------------------ #rathyatra #spiritualawakening #soul #spiritualexperience #spiritualpurposeoflife #spiritualgrowthlessons #secretsofspirituality #vaisesikaprabhu #vaisesikadasa #vaisesikaprabhulectures #spirituality #bhaktiyoga #krishna #spiritualpurposeoflife #krishnaspirituality #spiritualusachannel #whybhaktiisimportant #whyspiritualityisimportant #vaisesika #spiritualconnection #thepowerofspiritualstudy #selfrealization #spirituallectures #spiritualstudy #spiritualquestions #spiritualquestionsanswered #trendingspiritualtopics #fanthespark #spiritualpowerofmeditation #spiritualteachersonyoutube #spiritualhabits #spiritualclarity #bhagavadgita #srimadbhagavatam #spiritualbeings #kttvg #keepthetranscendentalvibrationgoing #spiritualpurpose

When we realize our real identity and our ultimate purpose in life, we'll feel enriched. So, one of the statements that's on the first slide, that I love—is from a commentary written by my teacher from one of the books called the Śrī Īśopaniṣad.It says, "All forms of incompleteness are experienced due to incomplete knowledge of the Complete Whole." The idea here is that we're only seeing part of reality, and we're getting the short end of it. If we understand the entirety of our existence and its purpose, and what we're part of, and what our function is in relationship to the Whole, then we'll feel satisfaction. So, satisfaction is a matter of practicing in such a way that we come to realize our connection, and that is the definition of yoga or yuj—to reconnect. The mind is like a movie screen, and we project on it various images. Now, a movie, you can watch it or not watch it. If you're driving by a drive-in theater, you don't have to watch the movie. But you could get absorbed in it. Like I saw people on the way home on the plane, they were totally absorbed in watching a movie. They didn't even know they were flying on a plane. They forgot, and that's probably why they put the movies on there, so people pass the time faster. So when you're able to step back and notice that those fears, anxieties, whatever it may be, are noticeably energies moving through your mental system, but they're not you, you can disassociate yourself from them. So one way to do that is, instead of identifying with them, be curious about them. It's one way that, as a soul in your interaction with your body and mind, you can be a little detached. Just like let's say you stub your toe and you go, "Oh, that hurts!" You can just react like that, or you can say, "What is that sensation?" Be curious about what it is, and just notice it. The same thing when fear comes into your mind: try to notice the energy. Don't push it away, but just notice what is fear energy and where is it coming from. If you do that, it'll help you detach from the mind. And as far as getting a taste for chanting Hare Kṛṣṇa, it's good to study the mantra and understand what is the power of the Holy Name and why it's powerful. Ultimately, it's because Kṛṣṇa is a person, and He's the Supreme Person, and He's all-merciful. And that's something that makes a lot of sense because impersonality doesn't fit with anything that we're used to. So if you can appreciate that Kṛṣṇa is the Supreme Personality of Godhead, and you're saying His name, it's quite natural to just lean into the feeling of it, because who else is going to help you? Prabhupāda mentions also that when you're being tossed—in other words, when you're going through things here in this world—you can admit it to Kṛṣṇa. Say, "Kṛṣṇa, I'm really being tossed by the ocean here." There's a solace in that, because He's our benefactor. There is an eternal relationship we have with Kṛṣṇa—it is personal. He is in our heart. He understands what our intentions are. For instance, if someone is very sincere, even if they have a very simple understanding of the Supreme Personality of Godhead and they pray, in the Gītā, Kṛṣṇa says (10:10): teṣāṁ satata-yuktānāṁ bhajatāṁ prīti-pūrvakam dadāmi buddhi-yogaṁ taṁ yena mām upayānti te "For those who are sincerely calling out to Me with their heart," He says, "I respond." How? Dadāmi means to give. Dadāmi buddhi-yogaṁ tam—"I give them intelligence how to come to Me." And of course, it's well known, Kṛṣṇa says (BG 4.11): ye yathā māṁ prapadyante tāṁs tathaiva bhajāmy aham mama vartmānuvartante manuṣyāḥ pārtha sarvaśaḥ Which means that He's reciprocating with every living being, and according to the way that living being wants to approach Him or avoid Him, He is accommodating that person. Also in the Gītā, Kṛṣṇa says (BG 9.29): samo 'haṁ sarva-bhūteṣu na me dveṣyo 'sti na priyaḥ ye bhajanti tu māṁ bhaktyā mayi te teṣu cāpy aham That means that Kṛṣṇa says, "I'm equal to everybody, but if somebody sincerely approaches Me, uses their free will and says, "Kṛṣṇa, I want to worship You. I want to serve You," He said, then He immediately embraces that person. Mayi te teṣu cāpy aham—"I and My devotee become deeply connected." There is such a thing as mercy, which is the reciprocation of Kṛṣṇa. Mercy means when somebody is in a superior position and they can decide what to do—to vanquish you, or to reward you. There is another concept called justice. Justice means you get what you deserve. We don't want that. We want mercy, because mercy means you get more than you deserve, or what you don't even deserve. And Kṛṣṇa is willing to give that. As soon as you look at things in this world with the wrong attitude—which means, "Yeah, maybe I could do something with that for me," then it becomes a problem immediately, an immediate problem. Prahlāda Mahārāja says the same thing to his classmates. He said the second you start thinking about how to enjoy, that's the very second you start suffering. So this pastime is freeing us to show what sweet surrender is. When we come to this revelation that this is the prize of life—to be able to unlock the heart and say, "Kṛṣṇa, everything for you"—you're free! You're a free soul, you're happy, there is no impediment, and it's so close by. The Bhāgavatam is freeing us from this illusory idea that the more stuff I can hold on to, the happier I'll be. This morning when we went on our morning walk, our extensive morning walk, there was a woman with a little dog. As we walked by, she kind of smiled as she stood back and went, "Oh, good morning!" Not everybody does that. A lot of people pretend like you don't exist. And I could see immediately: Ah! Some beginning in Kṛṣṇa consciousness. We have to see people. We should be looking through the environment. If you're driving down the street, you should be watching out the window and seeing: that guy would take a book. You should see all the stores when you're going by— I'm coming back there later; I'm going to go in every one of them. Caitanya Mahāprabhu went into the house of a drunkard; why can't we go into a tire shop? We can go into a bar. We can enter: avatīrṇaḥ kalau. Because in Kali-yuga everybody is degraded, we have to give mercy. We have to enter. We have to see carefully, look everywhere. We have to be scanning constantly: Where is that spark, so we can fan it? And we have to enter there. We have to go in. So that's number two: you have to enter. You have to see, you have to enter and number three is you have to extend yourself. Māyā-mṛgaṁ dayitayepsitam anvadhāvat—it means Caitanya Mahāprabhu chased after, he extended himself to the fallen, conditioned souls to catch them and give them Kṛṣṇa consciousness, because they won't take it in Kali-yuga. So he made sure that he went everywhere. Plus, he made a discount! It's mentioned in the Caitanya-caritāmṛta that everything was discounted. The members of the Pañca-tattva didn't consider who was a fit or unfit candidate. They didn't consider what was a good place or a bad place; they gave it to everyone wherever they went. So this is an extension. We have to extend ourselves, and this is the mood of the verse today. This is Prabhupāda's mood. Caitanya Mahāprabhu is Kṛṣṇa Himself, and when you worship Caitanya Mahāprabhu, then you can understand the ujjvala-rasa. Then you can understand Rādhā and Kṛṣṇa—not otherwise. There is no other entry point. yathā yathā gaura-padāravinde vindeta bhaktiṁ kṛta-puṇya-rāśiḥ tathā tathotsarpati hṛdy akasmād rādhā-padāmbhoja-sudhāmbu-rāśiḥ This is a verse by Prabodhānanda Sarasvatī in the Caitanya-candrāmṛta. It says that the more you worship Caitanya Mahāprabhu, the more your heart floods with the mood of Vṛndāvana. Otherwise, we can't understand it; we can't approach it. Now, what's the mood of Lord Caitanya Mahāprabhu? It's in the verse: anarpita-carīṁ cirāt karuṇayāvatīrṇaḥ kalau. He comes specifically, enters Kali-yuga in order to extend himself to give mercy to others. His rasa is distribution. His rasa is going to the lowest place and giving the highest thing. This verse is Lord Śiva speaking to Pārvatī, noting that pure Vaiṣṇavas are tulyā; they are equal in whatever circumstances there are in life. So this is a principle of the Bhāgavatam. There are a few words that are really important in this verse that we can take away something practical. I had written down a mnemonic to remember a few points, and you can remember the letters C I S as: Circumstances Invite Service. nārāyaṇa-parāḥ sarve na kutaścana bibhyati svargāpavarga-narakeṣv api tulyārtha-darśinaḥ (SB 6.17.28) First we have nārāyaṇa-parāḥ sarve. Parā indicates Kṛṣṇa. No one can compare to Kṛṣṇa, and parā is the priority of devotees. Oṁ tad viṣṇoḥ paramaṁ padaṁ sadā paśyanti sūrayaḥ. That means their main objective in life is Nārāyaṇa or Kṛṣṇa. Although they may be walking in this world, they are focused on the ultimate goal of life, and they are looking at Godhead. Therefore, parā means that their ultimate vision is that life's purpose is to attain Kṛṣṇa. No other purpose. Everything is subservient to that goal. Nārāyaṇa-parāḥ sarve na kutaścana bibhati, means under all circumstances, the devotee is fearless. na kutaścana bibhati—bibhati means bhayam or fear and darśinaḥ means to see. So the devotee is never fearful. Why? Because his ultimate goal is Nārāyaṇa and therefore he or she sees everything equally as an equal opportunity to serve Kṛṣṇa, and whenever a circumstance unfolds, favorable or unfavorable, in the life of the devotee, he or she accepts it as an opportunity to serve Kṛṣṇa. This is parallel with the verse 10.14.8 from the Bhāgavatam, in which Brahmā says: tat te 'nukampāṁ su-samīkṣamāṇo bhuñjāna evātma-kṛtaṁ vipākam hṛd-vāg-vapurbhir vidadhan namas te jīveta yo mukti-pade sa dāya-bhāk Whatever happens to a devotee—whatever, anything—he or she takes it as Kṛṣṇa's mercy to invoke more service: in body, mind, and words. And when one's aligned with this vision, that takes every circumstance as an opportunity to purify oneself to serve Kṛṣṇa, then Brahmā says, "This attitude literally entitles one, as if one is an inheritor and one's entitled to the inheritance." What do you inherit? The kingdom of God. As any self-respecting self-help guru in the world will tell you, "It's not what happens to you; it's how you interpret what happens to you that matters, and how you react to it." So, devotees have the ultimate sense of what the purpose of life is—parā—and therefore they see everything as Kṛṣṇa's mercy, which means an opportunity to increase service. In the purport of SB 10.14.8, there is a rhetorical question: "If a devotee is taken to devotional service and is free from all karma, then why should there still be material desires left?" Well, Viśvanātha Cakravartī Ṭhākura says, "That's because there's always some residual effect, and then Kṛṣṇa is giving some situation in the devotee's life that may seem like karma, but it's not. It's a custom-designed situation just for that person, because Kṛṣṇa knows exactly what that last vestige of desire to hold on to the material world, to cherish something here in the material world, is, and He is expert at dissolving that by putting one in a particular situation, where then one just fully takes shelter of Kṛṣṇa." Isn't that nice? Now, the verse itself says, "There is no stronger obstruction to one's self-interest than thinking other subject matters to be more pleasing than one's self-realization." I just try to expand the conversation by mentioning the efficacy, as presented in the Śrīmad-Bhāgavatam, of going on worshiping Kṛṣṇa and remembering Him, because there are examples of famous bhakti-yogīs who attained perfection in devotional service, but who started off with some attitude that may not have been perfect. Shall we pursue that? First, I would like to bring to mind, if I can, three verses that are highly consequential in this conversation, that are in the Seventh Canto of the Śrīmad-Bhāgavatam, and they indicate a very interesting aspect of bhakti, which is—it's based on absorption. Viś means to enter into something, like Viṣṇu. Viṣṇu means 'He who's entered into everything.' eko 'py asau racayituṁ jagad-aṇḍa-koṭiṁ yac-chaktir asti jagad-aṇḍa-cayā yad-antaḥ aṇḍāntara-stha-paramāṇu-cayāntara-stham- govindam ādi-puruṣaṁ tam ahaṁ bhajāmi Brahmā says, "O my Lord Govinda, You've entered into everything. You're even within the atom, in the heart of everyone." Āveśa then means to be absorbed in something, to enter within it. Śukadeva Gosvāmī is pointing out the perfection that devotees achieve by various attitudes, which may seem to be contrary to self-realization. Shall I tell you what they are? There is no closer way you can connect with the Supreme except by saying His name: āsyenedam upāsya. Then He tells why the name is so nice, because you may be an aparādhī, but if you chant the name, āsyenedam upāsya so ‘pi hi sadānandāmbudhau majjati (Śrī Nāmāṣṭaka - 6), the name will take you and dunk you in a huge pool of ānanda. Would you like that? When you get an offer like that from the Bhagavatam, you just say yes. Majjati doesn't mean there's a little sprinkle, like you come around an āratik and get a little drop. (I got one in the eye this morning from maṅgal-āratik; woke me up.) It means the whole body, everything plunged—majjati. Say majjati. Say it again, with a little more enthusiasm! If anybody asks you, "How are you?", say, "sadānandāmbudhau majjati —I'm plunged in the ocean!" Why? Because you have the Holy Name. So, access: this is one of the characteristics of the Bhāgavatam. It's easy to follow all the way through. You can read the Bhāgavatam each Canto successively, and it will dawn upon the reader that the Bhāgavatam knows me better than I know myself. What's more, it's inviting me—of all people, it's inviting me. It's not for somebody 2,000 years ago; it's not for some great sage on the mountaintop. It's for me right now, right here. The access is open and it's direct. So highly consequential, and highly important. Of course, in the purport, Prabhupāda then says, "Now you've got such access. Don't take it lightly. Be careful when you approach." Some traditions, like in Judaism, they have this once a year—there is an opportunity. From the burning bush, Moses got the name of God, and then once a year, the high priest would say it out loud, and people would come and they would crowd the temple grounds just to hear the name one time. And then... All of the elements were already there, but by the subtle process of hearing it comes together. Prabhupāda makes the point in the purport that all spiritual paraphernalia is available, and it can gather in one's life by the process of hearing. So if you hear spiritual sound vibration from the spiritual world, then all the paraphernalia needed to advance on the spiritual path comes into your purview, and you can take advantage of it. This brings us to the very practical means given by Śrī Caitanya Mahāprabhu: chanting the holy names, hearing the Śrīmad-Bhāgavatam in the association of devotees, and thereby manifesting our original spiritual life—it's already there. Nitya-siddha kṛṣṇa-prema sādhya kabhu naya. "Sādhya kabhu naya" means it's already there, and you uncover it. Or, as Prabhupāda quoted in this verse, anāvṛttiḥ śabdāt—by sound vibration. This is the last verse in the Vedānta-sūtra. By sound, anāvṛttiḥ means to uncover something, and śabdāt means by sound. So by sound you become uncovered, and your real nature will be revealed. One might think— "Well, how might I enter into the Śrīmad-Bhāgavatam?” That's a question Prabhupāda asked on the Jaladūta: How will people be able to receive this message? Because they are so enamored of the modes of material nature and their ways of life. Prabhupāda introduced it a step at a time, and as devotees gathered to hear, they became purified. If one can appreciate that the Śrīmad-Bhāgavatam has the power to overcome the modes of material nature—which create this sense of envy in the material world, and fear, and all the other base qualities that come from illusion—then one might take it as medicine. That is mentioned in the 10th Canto of the Śrīmad-Bhāgavatam (SB 10.1.4): nivṛtta-tarṣair upagīyamānād bhavauṣadhāc chrotra-mano-'bhirāmāt ka uttamaśloka-guṇānuvādāt pumān virajyeta vinā paśughnāt which contains the word auṣadhi. Auṣadhi means a kind of medicine. This is where we can appreciate the sādhana-bhakti of hearing Śrīmad-Bhāgavatam. One may say, “I'm not qualified. I can't enter. I'm not nirmatsarāṇām.” That's okay. You take it as medicine. And one might say, “The people I'm distributing to, they don't even know what it is.” Well, how are they going to know what it is if you don't give it to them? Prabhupāda once said that when the devotees were saying, “We're going to preach, but people are not interested,” Prabhupāda said, “That's why you preach! How would they become interested unless you tell them?” They are all open to suggestion. You just have to speak it. Therefore, we are a culture of the Bhāgavata. And very particularly, Prabhupāda brought it to America—or as he said, it brought him—and he painstakingly made sure that all the volumes were going to be available. Even after Prabhupāda left, he made sure someone else who was trained by him, who could carry the same message, would be able to translate it. Kṛṣṇa made all those arrangements. He sent Pradyumna; He sent Hṛdayānanda Mahārāja. Others who were qualified, who had heard from Prabhupāda sufficiently, were able to read through the commentaries of the ācāryas and give the summary all the way through—what to speak of the tenor of Śrīla Prabhupāda's voice, whom they had heard from for many years. Therefore, we have this greatest treasure. We have the daily process of hearing Śrīmad-Bhāgavatam in the association of devotees, and, of course, we are also distributing it. So we can be very sure of its efficacy, not only for ourselves advancing in devotional service, but also in bestowing it upon other people and helping them to come into the culture of Śrīmad-Bhāgavatam. Nothing else will solve problems. Everything else is a stopgap measure to solve the problems of the material world. But if one gets on a regular diet of hearing Śrīmad-Bhāgavatam on a daily basis—and, of course, chanting Hare Kṛṣṇa—then naturally, the impediments to one's sanity will diminish. What to speak of: one will become happy by hearing it! Frequently, there is a misconception that the distribution of Kṛṣṇa consciousness—for instance, distributing Śrīmad-Bhāgavatam—and the idea of cultivating spontaneous devotional service, entering into higher levels of devotional service, is a separate thing. So, one of the premises that I'm presenting here is that Caitanya Mahāprabhu is in distribution mode, and therefore the rasa is distribution. Anarpita-carīṁ cirāt—it hasn't been distributed. Samarpayitum—now it's being distributed. And this is the mode of Śrī Caitanya Mahāprabhu: is to give to everybody. That's the overflow of what's coming from Vṛndāvana, and that's being made available to everyone in the world to bring them back to life. That's why Caitanya Mahāprabhu responded. Out of all the verses in the Gopī-gītā, he said, "Bhūri-dā janāḥ" again and again. He said, "These are the most magnanimous souls." Kṛṣṇa says it in the Bhagavad-gītā (18.68): ya idaṁ paramaṁ guhyaṁ mad-bhakteṣv abhidhāsyati bhaktiṁ mayi parāṁ kṛtvā mām evaiṣyaty asaṁśayaḥ Paramaṁ guhyaṁ—one who's giving this secret. He says, for somebody who is distributing this, there is nobody better. What's more, who can give stronger language than this! You're guaranteed of success, coming back to Me by the distribution—that's Caitanya Mahāprabhu's mode, and it's also Kṛṣṇa's mood in the Bhagavad-gītā. By participating in the distribution, you're entering into the rasa of Śrī Caitanya Mahāprabhu, which is to overflood the world. We're sitting here in Los Angeles because some engineers, headed by a guy named Mulholland, stole a bunch of water from us up in Northern California. They made a plan that said, "This place down here—there's a lot of extra land, but it's desertous, and who is ever going to live here?" So, they created an aqueduct, and they brought water to the valley and made it fertile. Caitanya Mahāprabhu's main purpose is giving access to everybody, making sure that everyone has an opportunity to take to this to the highest degree. And then, when we participate, we are also expanding those aqueducts that take it out to the rest of the world. Question: How can be our chanting such that it is exclusively in relationship with Krishna rather than a monotonous activity? Answer: You hear about Kṛṣṇa from the Bhāgavatam; read Kṛṣṇa book. Also, have a bhajana. Have a variety of activities you put together, you have to thicken your bhajana. It doesn't mean that you have to stop everything you are doing, because we can't. But you should try to thicken it a little bit every day, or every week, or every month, or every year—including, chanting a chapter of Bhagavad-gītā a day. How therapeutic that is, and how relational it is to Kṛṣṇa! You'll feel that He's directly talking to you, and you'll also experience what you are talking about with the inner work being realized in all your activities. You can do that plus one chapter of Bhāgavatam every day, and also have your pages. You should have something where you say, "Okay, I'll join you in a minute, because I haven't finished my pages." So you should have a quota of pages that you finish every day, whether it's 1 or it's 50 or whatever. But have that. Also make plans to visit Kṛṣṇa at the temple. See Kṛṣṇa. Appreciate what He is wearing. Bring Him a gift. Ring the bell. And then, if you can, organize your life so that you can visit the dhāma periodically. When you go to Vṛndāvana, you walk around Govardhana Hill and visit the various temples. You start to see, "Oh, there's Kṛṣṇa's home." You go see Nandagrāma, and the villages of the aṣṭa-sakhīs and things like that. So you make this composite in your life, mix it together, and keep it really solid. Follow the footsteps of the great ācāryas and stay steady. Saṅkhyā-pūrvaka-nāma-gāna-natibhiḥ—even if it's not voluminous, if it's consistent and you have a nice variety in there, then Kṛṣṇa will reveal Himself. The best of prayers is the prayer to bring God into your mind through His name; this is universal. There are various ways that people think about this. Human beings are naturally drawn to prayer. You might notice that if you cross a high school playground during the break, you will notice there are groups of kids standing there. When you pass by and listen in a little bit, you'll hear them saying, "Oh my God! Oh my God! Oh my God!" It's just quite natural, and it's in any language that people, when they see something that is awe-inspiring, they'll say, "Oh God, oh my God." Or when some disaster comes, they'll say, "Oh my God." When Oppenheimer—the Manhattan Project, they did the first test of the nuclear weapon, and he quoted from the Bhagavad Gita. Basically, it's just our first reaction. It's visceral. It comes right from the heart. It's quite natural that we think, "Oh God," and it's in any language, in any culture. So this is a natural inclination that everyone has, because we're part of God. We're always under His purview and under His protection, but oftentimes, most of the time, we think we're independent until there's something that urges us to move forward to take shelter. The recommended process by Śrī Caitanya Mahāprabhu, and by the bhakti-yoga literatures, to always keep in contact with Kṛṣṇa or God is to say His name in a prayerful way. That's why we chant Hare Kṛṣṇa. Now, how much should you chant Hare Kṛṣṇa? Well, there's an admonition given by Śrī Caitanya Mahāprabhu. You want to hear how much he said you should chant Hare Kṛṣṇa? Now, I'm just going to preface it by saying, when you hear this, you should also know that since he said it, it's possible—agreed upon. So he said, "kīrtanīyaḥ sadā hariḥ," which means that you should do it constantly. Now, someone might freak out and say, "Well, how can I possibly do it constantly?" So, great teachers have anticipated this, and also they think in realistic ways. So they've said that don't freak out. Consider that if at least you practice it every day, then that's also for beginners considered doing it constantly. Don't miss a 24-hour period. People get into a moral dilemma about owning things. In fact, there are many economic systems that talk about who owns what. Some say the state owns everything. Then there are very enthusiastic capitalistic systems that say, "No, each person." I don't want to try to truncate the meaning of capitalism, but in general, it belongs to the people. You own your own private property, and so forth. These conceptions run into problems: who owns what, under what circumstances. In fact, it becomes quite litigious. I'll tell you a story I heard this morning. Prabhupāda was speaking about this concept that God owns everything, and then he told a story about some thieves. They went into town at night, and they robbed a few places, and they took all the loot. They went to the edge of town, and they gathered in a circle with all the stuff they stole, and then one of them proclaimed, "Let's divide it equitably and morally." So, there is a cognitive dissonance that people have. When we start thinking about who owns what in the world, there is a bit of a conundrum because whatever we think we own will be unceremoniously taken away from us at a certain point, and other people may put a claim on it also, or a percentage of it, and it gets really complicated. Just as a side, Kṛṣṇa says in the Bhagavad-gītā—and there are other utterances that are very helpful in this way—if you want to be happy for the rest of your life (that's the beginning of a song, but I'll finish in a different way), you should consider that everything already belongs to God. Don't make a claim over it. You can take care of it, but don't think that it belongs to you. This is something Kṛṣṇa mentions in the Bhagavad-gītā when he says: "brahmaṇy ādhāya karmāṇi saṅgaṁ tyaktvā karoti yaḥ." Which means that you should renounce the idea that "this belongs to me." You can use it, but don't think "this is mine to keep." Use it in the right way, and then he says you won't be affected by it. And another place this is mentioned is in the... If all of our hopes and dreams were to come true and we could get mail order machine guns to our doors, what (other than boatloads of fun) do you think the most valid use for civilian full auto is? I was thinking maybe a select fire/burst fire subgun for home defense? Belt feds on pigs? Alex W. I don't own one, but now that the state is telling me I can't buy one, I need to spite purchase. I'm interested in picking up 2 Glock models and 2 Glock style pistols. If you were only able to own 2 Glocks, what would your suggestions be for gen and model? Also, what make and model of 2 Glock style pistols. Thanks guys. #stuckbehindenemylines WINNER Question from Travis from ILLINOIS Dear WLS this is Travis from not the people's republic of Illinois. Love the show you and all the content. Shawn over the past few shows you have mentioned your Kelby rifle. What do you like and not like. Would you do anything different. I personally don't know anyone who owns one and looking to purchase one for potential PRS matches. Thanks Travis Question from Anonymous Coward from Florida Dear WLS: Hey y'all. I was thinking, with the growing apparent popularity of “pdw” setups for pistols, I was wondering why no manufacturer seems to produce a factory firearm that fits that sort of form factor (other than sig selling factory 320's already in a raider chassis). The closest things I can think of currently would be the B&T TP9 or their USW. But I'm wondering why no one else is tapping into the whole oversized 9mm pistol with a brace/stock market trend. Use mathematics to figure out how many sets a day you need to make your quota, and make sure you have your quota present, visible everywhere in your community, in your ashram, so people can see the number. Because you can't hit a target you can't see, and we don't want to do any guesswork. If you need to know anything more, contact us, and we'll give you the numbers that you need to hit. (info@bbtbooks.com) We set the goals for what it makes of us to achieve them. Could be any goal, but we have looked at this 100,008 goal for over five years, and now the time has come. We want to make a stand. We want to show that it's Lord Caitanya's time in this universe, not the materialists who are promoting the idea that there is no God. We want to counteract that, and we want to smash Kali-yuga. It's very practical to distribute literature because nobody can take it back once the book goes out there. Let's do damage to Kali-yuga by getting out the Śrīmad-Bhāgavatam, so it's everywhere, and people who run into it end up changing their lives and their trajectory in life, in going back home, back to Godhead. This was Prabhupāda's vision. We can enter deeply within it and take it up as our own, and in that way, we'll be following in his footsteps and the footsteps of the great ācāryas, and that is the way to make advancement. śuśrūṣoḥ śraddadhānasya vāsudeva-kathā-ruciḥ syān mahat-sevayā viprāḥ puṇya-tīrtha-niṣevaṇāt (SB 1.2.16) It's great service. If we take it up and have something tangible to offer to Śrīla Prabhupāda, then I guarantee you, all of us will be dancing in ecstasy together in a kīrtana to celebrate the fact that we did something together that is unassailable, that is perfectly aligned, and that it will bring joy to the heart of Śrīla Prabhupāda. He promised the devotees who had worked on the Caitanya-caritāmṛta marathon to produce the entire set of Ccs within a couple of months that they would go back to Godhead. He promised them in writing, and he said at the end, he guaranteed they would. So we could leave at any minute. There's no guarantee we're going to live for five more seconds. Let's put our energy into this and astound the world and astound ourselves by hitting this goal, smashing 100,008. Every set counts. It's never too late. Even the last day makes a difference. But start now. Lean into it. Talk about it. Advocate for it, and keep the number visible! We are continuing our reading of the pastimes of Rathayātrā, because we've been given the facility by the Śrī Guru-paramparā, and therefore our participation in hearing is rightly done. śṛṇvatāṁ sva-kathāḥ kṛṣṇaḥ puṇya-śravaṇa-kīrtanaḥ hṛdy antaḥ stho hy abhadrāṇi vidhunoti suhṛt satām (SB 1.2.17) Simply by hearing about Kṛṣṇa's unlimited pastimes, one will have a change of heart. The human body is specifically designed to hear about Kṛṣṇa, and we have God-given intelligence, so that we can enter deeply within the pastimes, and we can also transfer ourselves from this realm—which is a little rocky, to say the least—back to the spiritual realm. We can also develop the wherewithal to explain the process of Kṛṣṇa consciousness to others simply by hearing. No other education is necessary except for hearing and hearing and hearing more. Everything else takes place from the inside out. Dasa joins Andy to recap his trip to Sand Valley playing hickory golf. He discusses that he will continue playing the clubs because they helped him find more magic, meaning, and significance in his golf. They also discuss if it is possible to bring this magic to the modern game.
We have enough intelligence as humans to speak, and that's way above what primates can do; and if we use that speech to pronounce the supreme combination of syllables, that's enough to become liberated. You don't have to pay $100,000 a year tuition for four years at Reed College to figure it all out. You can figure it out by reading the Bhagavad-gītā, and if you take advantage of it from whatever situation of life you are in—even if you're illiterate—if you pronounce those syllables and do it so intentionally, understanding that it's connection with the Supreme Personality of Godhead, then this is what all the śāstras are pointing to, and it's the prime teaching of Lord Caitanya Mahāprabhu. Just by that process, one attains perfection of life. So we can concentrate on that. Humans get free speech, as in it's thrown in for free when you are born. You don't have to figure it out so much. Just happens. Then, if you use your God-given intelligence to understand, there's this supreme combination of syllables—which is what we subscribe to, that theory—and you learn to perfect it by chanting it with your heart as a means to reciprocate with the Supreme, then you'll attain perfection of life. It's that simple. ------------------------------------------------------------ To connect with His Grace Vaiśeṣika Dāsa, please visit https://www.fanthespark.com/next-steps/ask-vaisesika-dasa/?utm_source=youtube&utm_medium=video&utm_campaign=launch2025 https://vaisesikadasayatra.blogspot.com/ ------------------------------------------------------------ Add to your wisdom literature collection: https://iskconsv.com/book-store/?utm_source=youtube&utm_medium=video&utm_campaign=launch2025 https://www.bbtacademic.com/books/?utm_source=youtube&utm_medium=video&utm_campaign=launch2025 https://thefourquestionsbook.com/?utm_source=youtube&utm_medium=video&utm_campaign=launch2025 ------------------------------------------------------------ Join us live on Facebook: https://www.facebook.com/FanTheSpark/ Podcasts: https://podcasts.apple.com/us/podcast/sound-bhakti/id1132423868 For the latest videos, subscribe https://www.youtube.com/@FanTheSpark For the latest in SoundCloud: https://soundcloud.com/fan-the-spark ------------------------------------------------------------ #makejapagreatagain #mantrameditation #chantharekrishnaandbehappy #spiritualawakening #soul #spiritualexperience #spiritualpurposeoflife #spiritualgrowthlessons #secretsofspirituality #vaisesikaprabhu #vaisesikadasa #vaisesikaprabhulectures #spirituality #bhaktiyoga #krishna #spiritualpurposeoflife #krishnaspirituality #spiritualusachannel #whybhaktiisimportant #whyspiritualityisimportant #vaisesika #spiritualconnection #thepowerofspiritualstudy #selfrealization #spirituallectures #spiritualstudy #spiritualquestions #spiritualquestionsanswered #trendingspiritualtopics #fanthespark #spiritualpowerofmeditation #spiritualteachersonyoutube #spiritualhabits #spiritualclarity #bhagavadgita #srimadbhagavatam #spiritualbeings #kttvg #keepthetranscendentalvibrationgoing #spiritualpurpose
Whatever result was obtained in Satya-yuga by meditating on Viṣṇu, in Tretā-yuga by performing sacrifices, and in Dvāpara-yuga by serving the Lord's lotus feet can be obtained in Kali-yuga simply by chanting the Hare Kṛṣṇa mahā-mantra. Amusing, entertaining, and enjoyable—going on book distribution is all those things. It's definitely entertaining and enjoyable. But here is the key: when people feel hesitant to go on book distribution, oftentimes it's an imaginary scenario that it might be tricky when they get out there. The reason I notice many people hesitate to go out on book distribution, is because they think they have to perform, and they think everyone's going to be watching them. And if they don't perform, if they don't sell a book, then what'll they say when they get home? "I'll be regarded as a failure for the rest of my life." Is anybody thinking like that? Yes? No? Very good to be vulnerable and honest. I notice when I give seminars about how to distribute books, it's not that hard. But the part of the seminar where I teach how to distribute books starts with showing people why they might think about it and also how to do it in a few simple steps. But then, when it comes to actually walking out the door, a lot of people tell me that they just got a phone call from their mom who needs a peanut butter and jelly sandwich—and it's an emergency, and they have to go home. Otherwise, they would come out with us on book distribution. Poor Mom! Expectation is the mother of disappointment. So, what I have taken to doing before we all go out on book distribution is telling devotees that they're forbidden to distribute any books. We don't want anybody distributing any books, especially their first time. They're just going out to observe and see what it feels like to walk out the door. That's the first step. Therefore, we have this ritual which is called "Touching the Pavement." No distribution of books—just see how you feel walking out the door, and then if you have to go to the place where we were planning on distributing, you go there and you just touch the pavement. So, we have many photographs from around the world of groups of devotees going out, and we just have our foot on the pavement. And once you touch the pavement, you're done for the day; you don't have to do anything else. Since I started advocating for that, lots and lots of people come out to take the first step. Because when we expect something of ourselves and we are not sure if we're able to attain it, then we might hesitate. So, one of the ways to take that hesitation away is to change your expectation. Have no expectation at all of whether you are going to sell a book or not. Don't go out for that reason—to impress somebody, to impress yourself, or to see if you can do it. Just go out to see what it feels like. In fact, if you think about what Prabhupāda felt like when he got on the Jaladūta, and you think, "Well, I don't have a Jaladūta I can get on, but at least I can try this and feel the exhilaration of walking out the door and just seeing how I feel if I was going to distribute books." Now, one of the exhilarating aspects, which makes it fun, is... When you show up for the chanting, sincerely call out to Kṛṣṇa, and when one feels something for Kṛṣṇa, then the mind is automatically conquered. This is natural. It's not unnatural. It's not the kind of control or mastery over the mind that some yogi does by controlling the breath without going into the incoming, but rather, it's reconnecting with our natural dependence on Kṛṣṇa as His eternal servant, and when we feel that, and it's reality— "sa nityo nitya-sambandhaḥ prakṛtiś ca paraiva sā." Sri Brahma-samhita (5.28) says we have this eternal kinship with Kṛṣṇa. It's not something we're adding, but when we feel that sincerely, then there is a sense of—there's an upsurge in our body. I'm not saying, you know, it has to be dramatic, but you feel it yourself, you'll notice that your mind is automatically controlled because you become enthralled with the idea that I have a connection with Kṛṣṇa. That's the way that we rise above the mind. ------------------------------------------------------------ To connect with His Grace Vaiśeṣika Dāsa, please visit https://www.fanthespark.com/next-steps/ask-vaisesika-dasa/?utm_source=youtube&utm_medium=video&utm_campaign=launch2025 https://vaisesikadasayatra.blogspot.com/ ------------------------------------------------------------ Add to your wisdom literature collection: https://iskconsv.com/book-store/?utm_source=youtube&utm_medium=video&utm_campaign=launch2025 https://www.bbtacademic.com/books/?utm_source=youtube&utm_medium=video&utm_campaign=launch2025 https://thefourquestionsbook.com/?utm_source=youtube&utm_medium=video&utm_campaign=launch2025 ------------------------------------------------------------ Join us live on Facebook: https://www.facebook.com/FanTheSpark/ Podcasts: https://podcasts.apple.com/us/podcast/sound-bhakti/id1132423868 For the latest videos, subscribe https://www.youtube.com/@FanTheSpark For the latest in SoundCloud: https://soundcloud.com/fan-the-spark ------------------------------------------------------------ #spiritualawakening #soul #spiritualexperience #spiritualpurposeoflife #spiritualgrowthlessons #secretsofspirituality #vaisesikaprabhu #vaisesikadasa #vaisesikaprabhulectures #spirituality #bhaktiyoga #krishna #spiritualpurposeoflife #krishnaspirituality #spiritualusachannel #whybhaktiisimportant #whyspiritualityisimportant #vaisesika #spiritualconnection #thepowerofspiritualstudy #selfrealization #spirituallectures #spiritualstudy #spiritualquestions #spiritualquestionsanswered #trendingspiritualtopics #fanthespark #spiritualpowerofmeditation #spiritualteachersonyoutube #spiritualhabits #spiritualclarity #bhagavadgita #srimadbhagavatam #spiritualbeings #kttvg #keepthetranscendentalvibrationgoing #spiritualpurpose
We are in the stage of preparation for Rathayātrā. What's more, using this lifetime to enter into the mood of Kṛṣṇa consciousness as given to us by Śrī Caitanya Mahāprabhu. Kṛṣṇa is coming to experience the highest mode of worshiping Himself, as taught by Śrīmatī Rādhārāṇī. The reading that I'll be doing today is from the Śrīmad-Bhāgavatam, canto 10, chapter 82. One may ask, what does this have to do with Rathayātrā? The answer is that this is the origin of Rathayātrā. Rathayātrā is the coming together of Kṛṣṇa and the inhabitants of Vṛndāvana, after over 100 years of separation. As we know, Kṛṣṇa left Vṛndāvana and said he would soon be back, and that left the residents of Vṛndāvana pining for Him for over 100 years without stoppage. And then there was finally an opportunity to meet at Kurukṣetra because, on the pretense of going there for a religious ceremony, Kṛṣṇa took all of His soldiers, and people came from all over the universe to see Kṛṣṇa there. What an opportunity to meet Him there! When the residents of Vṛndāvana found out about it, they also loaded up their wagons and they came to Kurukṣetra. So we'll read this chapter. We'll see if we can get through the whole thing in an hour, and then there is a parallel chapter in the Śrī Caitanya-caritāmṛta, Madhya-līlā, which is about the Lord's dancing at Rathayātrā. Now, Caitanya Mahāprabhu is reenacting this pastime from the 82nd chapter of the Śrīmad-Bhāgavatam when He dances at Rathayātrā. For us to know the inside mood of Rathayātrā means that when we see Lord Jagannātha, pull the cart, and do sevā for Lord Jagannātha, we'll be able to remember Him in this context. Kṛṣṇa says in the Bhagavad-gītā(8.16),"ā-brahma-bhuvanāl lokāḥ punar āvartino 'rjuna." You don't want to stay here because it doesn't matter where you are in the material world—high, low, middle—it's all bad categorically. You can just assume that. But if you can change your consciousness, this is a very important part according to our International Society for Kṛṣṇa Consciousness, then, Kṛṣṇa says in the beginning of the eighth chapter that you can point yourself towards the Supreme Personality of Godhead. Or when you leave this body, be ready to completely leave the categorically inconvenient material world and go back home, back to Godhead. In the ninth chapter, He says (BG 9.25): yānti deva-vratā devān pitṝn yānti pitṛ-vratāḥ | bhūtāni yānti bhūtejyā yānti mad-yājino 'pi mām || Which basically means: You have free will. Use it. Chop, chop, little jīva. Let's go. Get out of here. The place is condemned. Just get out. Go, back to Godhead. And then, very specifically, He says: "anta-kāle ca mām eva smaran muktvā kalevaram." That if at the end (anta-kāle) you remember Me, then you'll directly come to Me. And then He says (BG 8.6): yaṁ yaṁ vāpi smaran bhāvaṁ tyajaty ante kalevaram | taṁ tam evaiti kaunteya sadā tad-bhāva-bhāvitaḥ || If you get entangled in some other kind of consciousness, that's where you're going to end up. So He's not a religious fanatic. Kṛṣṇa is just telling: Here is how it works. Here is where you are. Here's the context. Now, use it. Figure it out for yourself. And similarly, the people walking around London—I was observing them as we were driving in here. They're walking all at the same pace. This is morning pace on a weekday. You've got to kind of be a little stern, and you've got to kind of walk fast, because you've got to get in there and do your job. It's a prison sentence. When we're able to give people information: yathaidhāṁsi samiddho 'gnir bhasma-sāt kurute 'rjuna jñānāgniḥ sarva-karmāṇi bhasma-sāt kurute tathā || (BG 4.37) You give somebody this fire of knowledge, and they are able to burn to ashes all of their karma. Karma means what's driving people to walk to work and go to certain realms of the material world. They are pushed into it. It's like, "Get in there, buddy. You have to stay there." But you can liberate them by giving them an opportunity to understand the philosophy of Kṛṣṇa consciousness, to come in contact with devotees, and then we win. Yay! Back home, back to Godhead. Time is destructive for those who don't take advantage of it. This is mentioned in the Śrīmad Bhāgavatam, also, as far as spiritual practice goes, and we'll get into that a little later. When you take advantage of each day to the best of your ability, then you are banking something important. But every day you forget to do it, or you put it off, then it's a day when you are losing ground, your intention for that—whatever that may be. The arrival of the intention comes, the delay enters, and then you see the curve starts to move to the right, or continues to move to the right, reaches its peak, and there we have it at number three (referring to a picture in the presentation), alternatives multiply. Many other things come in. Kṛṣṇa says this in the Bhagavad Gīta (BG 2.41): vyavasāyātmikā buddhir ekeha kuru-nandana bahu-śākhā hy anantāś ca buddhayo 'vyavasāyinām That is, if you don't act on your intention when it's there, then your intelligence can become many-branched. You get other ideas, other distractions, other roads to go on, and you can't be ekeha—one-minded. Then it starts to go down. Your conviction to do it weakens. You think, "Oh, maybe it was just sentiment. Maybe it wasn't a good idea after all." And then the opportunity closes. I didn't tell you this, but I looked at the word "dwindle," and it sheets back to Germanic. The linguists say it comes from Proto-Indo-European, from a word that means to die. Dwindle, dwin—that the first part with the 'd' comes from a word in Proto-Indo-European which means something dies. Like a fruit. You leave it on the vine too long: you miss the opportunity, and then the fruit dwindles, and dies. Falls off the vine, rots. ------------------------------------------------------------ To connect with His Grace Vaiśeṣika Dāsa, please visit https://www.fanthespark.com/next-steps/ask-vaisesika-dasa/?utm_source=youtube&utm_medium=video&utm_campaign=launch2025 https://vaisesikadasayatra.blogspot.com/ ------------------------------------------------------------ Add to your wisdom literature collection: https://iskconsv.com/book-store/?utm_source=youtube&utm_medium=video&utm_campaign=launch2025 https://www.bbtacademic.com/books/?utm_source=youtube&utm_medium=video&utm_campaign=launch2025 https://thefourquestionsbook.com/?utm_source=youtube&utm_medium=video&utm_campaign=launch2025 ------------------------------------------------------------ Join us live on Facebook: https://www.facebook.com/FanTheSpark/ Podcasts: https://podcasts.apple.com/us/podcast/sound-bhakti/id1132423868 For the latest videos, subscribe https://www.youtube.com/@FanTheSpark For the latest in SoundCloud: https://soundcloud.com/fan-the-spark ------------------------------------------------------------ #spiritualawakening #soul #spiritualexperience #spiritualpurposeoflife #spiritualgrowthlessons #secretsofspirituality #vaisesikaprabhu #vaisesikadasa #vaisesikaprabhulectures #spirituality #bhaktiyoga #krishna #spiritualpurposeoflife #krishnaspirituality #spiritualusachannel #whybhaktiisimportant #whyspiritualityisimportant #vaisesika #spiritualconnection #thepowerofspiritualstudy #selfrealization #spirituallectures #spiritualstudy #spiritualquestions #spiritualquestionsanswered #trendingspiritualtopics #fanthespark #spiritualpowerofmeditation #spiritualteachersonyoutube #spiritualhabits #spiritualclarity #bhagavadgita #srimadbhagavatam #spiritualbeings #kttvg #keepthetranscendentalvibrationgoing #spiritualpurpose
This is from Bhaktivinoda Ṭhākura's Kalyāṇa-kalpataru. He wrote many songs, and they're very philosophically based, but they have deep emotion in them. Mindfulness can be helpful, but ultimately the mind seeks some positive engagement. According to the Vedic process, which is what we follow, there are various categories of philosophy under a sage named Dvaipāyana Vyāsadeva. We follow the Vedic process, which can be understood in the summary study of all the Vedas, called the Bhagavad-gītā. Therein is a hint of the best way to engage the mind, which is in relationship—not emptying the mind, or not just stilling the mind, but engaging the mind in a relationship. We may note that throughout human and even animal society, living beings have a vested interest in relationships. You can notice butterflies, even after they are born, consorting with one another. Birds are famous for building a little love nest; they work together, the male and female bird, to pick up straw and build a nest. Humans, you can see, going to and from Home Depot doing something similar. But the point there is not to build something, but to have a place where one can be in relationship. So, in the process of bhakti-yoga—or I could say, the great teacher of bhakti-yoga, Śrī Caitanya Mahāprabhu laid out the tenets of bhakti-yoga that we follow even today. He pointed out that the Bhagavad-gītā and the other explanations of the Vedas, the consolidation or the essentialization of the Vedas in the Bhagavad-gītā and Śrīmad-Bhāgavatam, point us towards the highest form of engagement of the mind, which is called devotional service. It's underlying principle is that we all have a loving propensity. When the mind is absorbed in the idea of service out of love, then it's completely satisfied. All other states leave us wanting, and those other states are not stable; they may shift from one point to another. There is a word that comes from Latin: "enthralment." "En" means "in," and "thrall" means "to be imprisoned." When we say we are enthralled by something, we are utterly captured by it. In the positive sense of that imprisonment, there's a way in which the mind can be captured. Another word that expresses a similar concept is "rapture," which means to be fully absorbed in a topic. Well, the Bhagavad-gītā and the Śrīmad-Bhāgavatam point out that we are most interested in love and loving relationships. Therefore, in the essentialization of the process of bhakti-yoga, there is a system by which we can express that loving emotion that we have and connect with the object of love that is unlimitedly satisfying. Patañjali Muni, who thousands of years ago wrote a book on psychology and how it relates to the manifestations that we have in our lives, mentions that when we leave this present physical body, the material nature then interprets all of the impressions we have in our mind and the overall feeling that we have when we leave this world. It then fills it in and gives us a new physical, gross body accordingly. And this is described in detail in the eighth and 15th chapters of the Bhagavad Gītā, where the kind of nose—notice, you have a particular kind of nose; you might not have noticed it recently—or a certain kind of ear or eyes [is determined]. Your eyes are different from a fruit fly's eyes. I looked at a magnification of a fruit fly because I was talking about how cute they are the other day, but then when I looked at the magnification, I thought, "It's not as cute as I thought." But in any case, fruit flies have specific eyes that were given to them by the material nature as an accommodation. We have a particular kind of eye; so, one may then ask, "Well, why did I get this particular kind of eye—a set of eyes?" These wisdom literatures answer that it's an accommodation of our consciousness. It's a way that we've developed our consciousness; the way in which we've developed our consciousness is then filled in. So, it's as if you made an impression with your foot in the wet sand and then filled it in with plaster of Paris—you get a perfect rendering of your foot. And in a similar way, our consciousness is what carries us or attracts to us our next physical body. This all goes to say that we're always in the creative process, and we're a lot more creative and powerful than we know. We may turn off that system and forget to create, and just let things happen to us and just take in random information. So, I am taking from this point of Leonardo da Vinci: he had an idea, he conceived of it, he was creative—and how did he express his creative nature? He would write it down for posterity, and then it became manifest as a useful tool. So, how many ways are we creating our next body or whatever is in our environment? It's called ātmakṛtam; it's what we are doing. So, this is a refined way, or a way of refining how we move in the world by being very deliberate and writing things down. This is what I'm trying to present: one of the ways of being very conscious about what we're thinking and where our mind is going, and also going in a predetermined direction—the way we want to go—by writing it down. So, that comes to also writing goals, priorities, and so forth. For instance, I have always in front of me on my desk a list of all my priorities, and they're always ready at hand because in a 24-hour period I can forget my priorities. But because I've taken my intentions, I've written them down very clearly, and I have a list now. I can go through and review and recall them, and stay on track. So, I'm saying that this is a manifestation tool.
Some people are highly intellectual and they have intelligence, but it can be easily misused by speculating. If you follow Kṛṣṇa by hearing Bhagavad Gītā, Śrīmad-Bhāgavatam and taking the advice of the ācāryas, it's descending mercy, because the order that comes down from Kṛṣṇa through the disciplic succession is non-different from Kṛṣṇa. Simple act— chanting Kṛṣṇa's names. It makes complete sense because everything has an origin—janmādy asya yataḥ—and that origin is personal. If you find out the name of the person from whom everything else emanates, and you worship that name according to Lord Caitanya Mahāprabhu, then you'll be directly in contact with Him. In fact, 'āsyenedam upāsya so ‘pi hi sadānandāmbudhau majjati' (Śrī Nāmāṣṭaka - 6). Rūpa Gosvāmī says, "Just use your mouth; use it as an instrument, and upāsya." Upāsya means to come closer. It means worship, but worship—actually, what it means literally—is that you become intimately connected with that person. So, this is the best of all religious processes because it's directly connecting us with Kṛṣṇa. It's a natural impulse to call out to those that we feel grateful to, that we want to serve, and that we are impressed by. So, take the process; keep doing it. I'm really impressed with all of you. You come here every single time, and every morning take time to chant, despite the fact that you have such busy lives. It's inordinate; that's part of being in Kali-yuga. But don't worry, because the holy name will win: 'paraṁ vijayate śrī-kṛṣṇa-saṅkīrtanam.' Keep doing this, and give it to many more people. Teach them how to chant Hare Kṛṣṇa. If you are a human being and you read the Bhagavad-gītā, then you're doing the right thing. If you are a human being and you don't read the Bhagavad-gītā, then you're missing the greatest opportunity, because there's nothing better than the Bhagavad-gītā, and not many people read it. They just say they read it, or they keep it in their house and say, “We believe in the Bhagavad-gītā.” But the trick is to actually read it. I was on a Zoom call earlier with a bunch of kids, and we have this system where, whenever we have our call, we always read a chapter of the Bhagavad-gītā together—Sanskrit and English—and then we discuss some of the purports, and the effect is amazing every time you read it. When I was in London, because we were zipping around here, there, and everywhere, every time we would jump in the car, I'd pull out my phone and open my Bhagavad-gītā app, and I started reading chapters. And so I had a minimum of three chapters a day of hearing the Bhagavad-gītā, and nobody told me to stop. Because people could have got annoyed in the cars, like, “Here he goes again,” but nobody said that because it's so interesting to hear the Bhagavad-gītā. I remember when I first got a Bhagavad-gītā when I was a kid; it was just translations, and I couldn't wait to get home from school and read the Bhagavad-gītā again. And I know from that very beginning of reading the Bhagavad-gītā that it fortifies you. Now we have Bhagavad-gītā As It Is. Last year, as an international society ISKCON, we sold over 5 million Bhagavad-gītās. But I can tell you what Prabhupāda would say, because he said it to us in San Francisco in 1973 when our temple president introduced us. Prabhupāda said, “These guys sold this many books.” You know what Prabhupāda said? “You must also read my books.” He said, “I've not written these just for selling." We have to read the Bhagavad-gītā. We have to be up on the Bhagavad-gītā. When your mind's tricking you, it means you're not reading enough Bhagavad-gītā. That is what it means. If you read at least a chapter of the Bhagavad-gītā a day—or at least a verse, anyway—then you won't get tricked. You won't get fooled again. The old boss, same as the new boss; it just comes in over and over again—same old trick of Māyā. But you can't get tricked if you read the Bhagavad-gītā. In fact, you can tell people that out on the street: “You won't get fooled again if you take this Bhagavad-gītā and read it every day.” So that's the solution to everything. Where's your Bhagavad-gītā? Do you know where it is right now? (one of the ladies in the audience takes out Bhagavad-gītā from her purse) In your purse? Show it. Show the Bhagavad-gītā. Look at her tilaka—she's not bewildered, she's not tricked by Māyā. She gets up, puts her tilaka on, because she has a Bhagavad-gītā. If you carry a Bhagavad-gītā with you wherever you go and you read it every day, you'll never get tricked by Māyā. That's how to trick Māyā back. Prabhupāda said, “You should defeat death before death defeats you.” So it's a race for time. We don't have much time. You have to really lean into the Bhagavad-gītā. ------------------------------------------------------------ To connect with His Grace Vaiśeṣika Dāsa, please visit https://www.fanthespark.com/next-steps/ask-vaisesika-dasa/?utm_source=youtube&utm_medium=video&utm_campaign=launch2025 https://vaisesikadasayatra.blogspot.com/ ------------------------------------------------------------ Add to your wisdom literature collection: https://iskconsv.com/book-store/?utm_source=youtube&utm_medium=video&utm_campaign=launch2025 https://www.bbtacademic.com/books/?utm_source=youtube&utm_medium=video&utm_campaign=launch2025 https://thefourquestionsbook.com/?utm_source=youtube&utm_medium=video&utm_campaign=launch2025

Can that happen again? So the real question is what is the best non-AR semi auto rifle chambered in 5.56? Question from Scott H Greetings to the best gun podcast ever. My dad lives in another state and wants to pass down a gun to me. I can bring it back with me after visiting him and deal with the airlines. Have him ship it to an FFL by me. Or I can get a C & R license thru the ATF and he can ship it directly to me because the gun is over 50 years old and has collector value. What would you guys do? Question from AinYourFace This last year I have been playing (poor) with some night vision. Specifically a Sionyx Pro with a helmet mount setup (mono only). I mainly use it walking at night and stalk hunting pigs. I know there are better setups, but my question is more about aiming with night vision. I currently use a rifle mounted IR laser as my point of aim. It works, but is there a better sighting setup or are lasers the way to go when using some type of helmet mounted nods. #SSB #Finding myself agreeing with Jerambe too much these days Question from JoeMama I was a decent pistol shooter out to 25 yards with no issues and consistent. I went to the range after 6 months of no range time and I'm jerking the trigger and my groups have gotten horrible. I can't seem to shake these issues. What would be the best way to shake these bad habits that have popped up? Question from Matt A What's the casts thoughts on the company and model of AmmoSquared? When doing research on ammo, most instructors and even content creators say shoot and try the ammo you plan to use and carry, which I totally agree with. This is why I'm asking my question. With AmmoSquared, they stockpile different manufacturers' ammo for you based upon your selection of the type of ammo you want, such as “practice, practice special, defense, or defense special”, and among the inventory stockpiled for you, you could get a mixture of 124 grain, 115 grain, and some +p boxes of ammo, all from various manufacturers. I get in the situation of the SHTF, any ammo will be used ammo, especially if there were to be an ammo shortage, but still curious about the crew's thoughts because all the ads I've seen for the business make it sound like you pick the ammo you want and they just store it for you. Thanks for the feedback, love the show. Question from non anonymous brave person from oh Do you guys have any recommendations on a good backpack to combine EDC and work? I currently run two separate bags, one is my work bag with files, tablet, work supplies, and one is my murse that has my gun, first aid, phone chargers and whatnot. I would like to consolidate into one bag so I can carry my gun with me and so I don't look like I'm moving out every time I leave my house. My work bag isn't CCW friendly and I don't want to just toss the gun in there and my murse is too small to carry my work shit. So I need to combine the two into one bag that has some sort of concealed carry pocket I can secure the gun as well as hold my tablet and files. Do you have any hands on experience with Eberlestock or Vertx or any other brands in the similar category? I don't want to blindly drop a couple hundred on a bag and it potentially be the wrong one. The mind, unless trained to take special care when chanting, will take interest in many other things. Rūpa Gosvāmī says boys are naturally interested in girls. Girls are naturally interested in boys. People are naturally interested in money; they think of it all the time. They look at it on the screen: "That's how much money I have." So, this yoga process is taking interest in Kṛṣṇa. And the most interesting thing is that Kṛṣṇa comes in sound vibration, and we can take an interest in the sound itself because it's non different from Kṛṣṇa. That's where all the progress takes place—when you take special care to listen. In Latin, interest means "it is important." So, we think so many things are important, but the yogi—the Bhakti yogi—thinks only the holy name is important; everything else comes from that. You are showing that by showing up to programs like these. It may seem like a little thing, but it's not. The fulcrum of all power is to take special time and practice coming back to the holy name again and again.
