Imagine a life without food, where the human body thrives on nothing but air and sunlight. Breatharianism—a belief that we can survive without eating—has fascinated and horrified skeptics for decades. Devotees claim they've unlocked the ultimate secret to longevity, shedding their dependence on physical sustenance. But what happens when followers go too far and are fully taken in by the figureheads who don't practice what they preach? Behind the serene promises of enlightenment lie stories of starvation, mystery, and death. → Credits, References, Corrections, and More Home: https://almostcertainlynot.com/ → Support Join our Patreon with the link below. In this Almost Certainly Not companion series, we examine each episode's origins, production process, behind-the-scenes, personal thoughts, and most likely go off on some tangents in spite of our best efforts. In this episode we examine: Breatharianism—the belief we can live without food—has intrigued skeptics for decades. Devotees claim to have unlocked the secret to longevity, free from physical needs. But when followers are taken in by figureheads who don't practice what they preach, promises of enlightenment give way to tales of starvation, mystery, and death. → Credits, References, Corrections, and More Home: https://almostcertainlynot.com/ → Support Join our Patreon with the link below. The Bṛhat-bhāgavatāmṛta mentions that devotees don't look for peace. They're not looking for peace of mind; they're looking to satisfy Kṛṣṇa. In the endeavor to satisfy Kṛṣṇa, there are many complex situations, and there are many anxieties. And on record, a devotee asked Prabhupāda, "Devotees sometimes are in great anxiety." For instance he gave the example of distributing books, "they are in so much anxiety about it." And Prabhupāda said, "Tell them that that is spiritual anxiety." Then he gave the example of Yaśodā. And he said, "Yaśodā is always in anxiety. There's never a time when she's Oṁ śānti śānti śānti." She's constantly worried, "Will Kṛṣṇa get into something in Vraj? He's playing with the calves and the cows, and are they getting into trouble somewhere?" For instance, Kṛṣṇa goes and steals from people's houses, and then Yaśodā gets called about it, "Your son's stealing!" And then Kṛṣṇa has this impish look on his face, and so forth. So, constant anxiety for Kṛṣṇa. One takeaway from just the threshold of entering into this cursing pastime is that these kinds of differences of opinion or anxieties or complexities happen in spiritual life because of the uniqueness of the soul and the unfolding Līlā of Kṛṣṇa. And so, we needn't be utopian in interpreting this and saying, "How could this ever happen?" As we will find out tomorrow and onward, from this pastime The Lord appears. And tomorrow, we find that there's more about the nature of the Kumāras and why they became angry and then, subsequently, last point I'll make is that their transformation. This is a pastime of transformation, and it's very important ,because throughout the Srimad Bhagavatam, we find this beacon of pure devotional service, which is directing us towards the highest position of life, which is to attain pure love for Krishna. And in the process, we find different kinds of people from different levels of consciousness. For instance, the Kumaras were at a level of undifferenced monism and they're about to be transformed into Krishna bhaktas. ------------------------------------------------------------ To connect with His Grace Vaiśeṣika Dāsa, please visit https://www.fanthespark.com/next-steps/ask-vaisesika-dasa/ ------------------------------------------------------------ Add to your wisdom literature collection: https://iskconsv.com/book-store/ https://www.bbtacademic.com/books/ https://thefourquestionsbook.com/ ------------------------------------------------------------ Join us live on Facebook: https://www.facebook.com/FanTheSpark/ Podcasts: https://podcasts.apple.com/us/podcast/sound-bhakti/id1132423868 For the latest videos, subscribe https://www.youtube.com/@FanTheSpark For the latest in SoundCloud: https://soundcloud.com/fan-the-spark ------------------------------------------------------------ #vaisesikaprabhu #vaisesikadasa #vaisesikaprabhulectures #spirituality #bhaktiyoga #krishna #spiritualpurposeoflife #krishnaspirituality #spiritualusachannel #whybhaktiisimportant #whyspiritualityisimportant #vaisesika #spiritualconnection #thepowerofspiritualstudy #selfrealization #spirituallectures #spiritualstudy #spiritualexperience #spiritualpurposeoflife #spiritualquestions #spiritualquestionsanswered #trendingspiritualtopics #fanthespark #spiritualpowerofmeditation #spiritualgrowthlessons #secretsofspirituality #spiritualteachersonyoutube #spiritualhabits #spiritualclarity #bhagavadgita #srimadbhagavatam #spiritualbeings #kttvg #keepthetranscendentalvibrationgoing #spiritualpurpose

ŚB 5.18.7Śukadeva Gosvāmī continued: My dear King, Lord Nṛsiṁhadeva resides in the tract of land known as Hari-varṣa. In the Seventh Canto of Śrīmad-Bhāgavatam, I shall describe to you how Prahlāda Mahārāja caused the Lord to assume the form of Nṛsiṁhadeva. Prahlāda Mahārāja, the topmost devotee of the Lord, is a reservoir of all the good qualities of great personalities. His character and activities have delivered all the fallen members of his demoniac family. Lord Nṛsiṁhadeva is very dear to this exalted personality. Thus Prahlāda Mahārāja, along with his servants and all the denizens of Hari-varṣa, worships Lord Nṛsiṁhadeva by chanting the following mantra. Please feel free to join our Kṛṣṇa Consciousness Telegram group chat (for both prabhujīs and mātājīs): https://t.me/iskmnews

Devotees come here to Govardhana by the millions every year, and they just walk around. You can see all night long, you can hear them all night long, groups of people walking around Govardhana. And I can say that in the years that I've been coming to Govardhana and staying here, which would be—this would be year 25, if we stay at Kārtika over here—25th stay here at Govardhana. I've seen people that do parikramā every day, all the way around. I know people that go around twice a day. It's their main occupation. I've met people who do 108 daṇḍavats in one place, and then they move to the next place and do another 108. I've seen whole families, including mom, dad, all the kids, doing daṇḍavat parikramā together all the way around Govardhana Hill instead of going to Disneyland to see the mouse. They come here to the holy place. And I've never, ever seen anybody unhappy, ever. In fact, there's a blissful look in people's faces as they walk around Girirāja or they do daṇḍavat parikramā. You'd think somebody would be complaining, like, "Mom, Dad, this is enough. I want to go somewhere else." But no, everyone feels satisfied, and it's a great miracle of Govardhana Hill that everyone who comes here feels satisfied. And people come for many different reasons. They'll come because they want a husband or wife, or they want to pass the final exam, or whatever they want. Kṛṣṇa fulfills everyone's desire here, as it's already mentioned in the Śrī Īśopaniṣad. He's the primeval philosopher who's been fulfilling everyone's desire since time immemorial, but especially for those who want pure devotional service. There's a flavor here at Govardhana that one can imbibe, or a beverage that one can imbibe, that is an elixir from walking around Govardhana, praying to Govardhana Hill, and remembering the pastimes of Kṛṣṇa around here. One can feel satisfied and invigorated. ------------------------------------------------------------ To connect with His Grace Vaiśeṣika Dāsa, please visit https://www.fanthespark.com/next-steps/ask-vaisesika-dasa/ ------------------------------------------------------------ Add to your wisdom literature collection: https://iskconsv.com/book-store/ https://www.bbtacademic.com/books/ https://thefourquestionsbook.com/ ------------------------------------------------------------ Join us live on Facebook: https://www.facebook.com/FanTheSpark/ Podcasts: https://podcasts.apple.com/us/podcast/sound-bhakti/id1132423868 For the latest videos, subscribe https://www.youtube.com/@FanTheSpark For the latest in SoundCloud: https://soundcloud.com/fan-the-spark ------------------------------------------------------------ #pilgrimageoftheheart #vaisesikaprabhu #vaisesikadasa #vaisesikaprabhulectures #spirituality #bhaktiyoga #krishna #spiritualpurposeoflife #krishnaspirituality #spiritualusachannel #whybhaktiisimportant #whyspiritualityisimportant #vaisesika #spiritualconnection #thepowerofspiritualstudy #selfrealization #spirituallectures #spiritualstudy #spiritualexperience #spiritualpurposeoflife #spiritualquestions #spiritualquestionsanswered #trendingspiritualtopics #fanthespark #spiritualpowerofmeditation #spiritualgrowthlessons #secretsofspirituality #spiritualteachersonyoutube #spiritualhabits #spiritualclarity #bhagavadgita #srimadbhagavatam #spiritualbeings #kttvg #keepthetranscendentalvibrationgoing #spiritualpurpose

What happens when you mix fantasy football, data analytics, and a little bit of chaos? You get a conversation that refuses to follow a straight line—but somehow lands exactly where it needs to. Rob Collie welcomes back fantasy football guru Adam Harstad for his third appearance on Raw Data, alongside first-time guests Heather Zimmer and Molly Ferguson, two self-proclaimed newcomers who are anything but casual. They dive into the unexpected ways fantasy football rewires your brain, from strategic obsession to the unshakable belief that your lucky jersey actually controls the game. Adam breaks down the numbers behind the game—how expected points added (EPA) became the gold standard of football analytics and why your gut feeling about a "bad matchup" might just be a statistical illusion. Meanwhile, Heather and Molly prove that fantasy football isn't just a game; it's a full-blown data-driven lifestyle. Whether it's crunching Power BI models for next season or convincing family members to clear out during game time, they've gone all-in—and they're not looking back. But beyond the spreadsheets and the smack talk, this episode is about something bigger: the sheer joy of unexpected obsessions. Whether you're in it for the data, the competition, or just the chance to prove someone wrong (we see you, Heather), fantasy football is a reminder that the best things in life are the ones you never saw coming. If the resurgence of Hindu consolidation results in ritualistic congregations of huge magnitude without discipline, accidents are bound to happen. Devotees need to be trained in crowd management.

There's this tendency to diminish anything anyone else is doing comes from the envy within the heart. But Rūpa Gosvāmī says, a miracle happens by the association of pure devotees, and that is gradually one's heart changes, and there's no more envy within the heart. And therefore 'nindādi-śūnya-hṛdam īpsita-saṅga-labdhyā,' the person then becomes free from nindā. Do you know somebody who is a professional at criticizing what they're called? A nindaka, or, you know, nindanīyā, like a kīrtanīyā. The kīrtanīyā is they're always singing Haribol! But a nindanīyā is somebody who's always singing other people's faults, and they criticize everyone, but that idea or impulse doesn't enter within the heart of a sādhu. So tolerance, steadiness, and mukhyā prasādāt and they're long, long lists of qualities of the sādhu. In this verse 'satāṁprasaṅgān mama vīrya-saṁvido bhavanti hṛt-karṇa-rasāyanāḥ kathāḥ (SB 3.25.25),' there's the most important quality mentioned of all, and that is that the sādhus are always speaking about Kṛṣṇa's glories. Vīrya means that the Lord's activities are glorious. And such a person is not interested in the mundane news of the world. Prabhupāda mentions that the devotees are not so interested in following the news because he says "Things will go the way they're going to go, and what can you do?" But we're on a different track, and those who follow Sādhus are on a different track. They're interested in discussing in more and more detail the activities of the Lord and His pastimes. Deities, Devotees & Devotion | Phoenix, USA | Svayam Bhagavan Keshava Maharaja by Wisdom That Breathes by Keshava Maharaja
There's two kinds of association with bhāgavat or the person bhāgavat that means a person who's a pure devote dedicated to pure devotional service. One is called vāni and the other is called vāpu. Vāpu means you get the personal association. In other words the person's physically walking around the planet and if you go there and you have some association you can see the person, maybe render some service, be in the same room and so forth so that's one of the important kinds of association. But even more important is called 'vāni'.Vāni means listening to the words of the person and that can be done, yes through zoom. We have done this. We've had the experiment already, forced experiment albeit that that everyone had to resort to isolation but we weren't really isolated because we had the sound vibration. So we felt ourselves improving not only did we improve, I mean I didn't cuz I barely ever do but everyone else did. And there's a way in which we were able to get a lot of things done in service and this has come through the sound vibration. It it spills out in many different ways. There's a verse in the Śrīmad Bhagavatam (SB 10.1.6) which says : vāsudeva-kathā-praśnaḥ puruṣāṁs trīn punāti hi vaktāraṁ pracchakaṁ śrotṝṁs tat-pāda-salilaṁ yathā' Just like when you bathe in the Ganges you get purified so similarly it says three types of people get purified when there's Kṛṣṇa kātha or somebody speaking about Kṛṣṇa. One is the person who's speaking, next is the person who's in the audience listening, and the third is everyone else in between. Recently in the UK, we went to London and in London we had a seminar in the the Soho Street temple where Śrī Śrī Rādhā Londonīśvara are and then we all went out together, about seventy of us into the streets of London which is a hoot. And we proceeded down to one of the very busy shopping plazas and when I say very busy.. ..and if you can learn to appreciate where you are right now and all the assets that you've been given, you get a spring in your step. It's less likely that you'll be overcome by this high expectation you have on yourself, or you think other people have on you. I personally like to make expectations in any of the saṅgas I'm working with, any of the teams, any of the projects, that are more natural. For instance, as you know well, in one of the teams you're on, I say the purpose for this team is for association and service. Do I not say that regularly? And how do you feel when you find out that's what it's about? It's just an opportunity, an excuse if you like, to have more association and more service. I find it helpful. As far as book distribution goes, I'm just giving this as an example. Devotees think, "I don't want to go out." Well, if I analyze why they don't want to go out, it's because they think they have to perform some magic, and "What's everybody going to think of me if I don't perform magic?" So we just say, "Don't worry about it. Don't even go out to distribute books. Just go out because it's fun to go out with others, or it's a nice feeling, exhilarating feeling to walk out into the great unknown. Don't put any expectation on yourself—just go out there and stand around and see how it feels to be out there." And I find that mostly then devotees say, "Really? That's not true. We do have to do a circus trick, right?" Like, "No, I'm not going to. I'm just going out. I don't even know what's going to happen. I'm just here. I just feel lucky to be part of this." And then when everyone goes out in that spirit with no expectation, then they overperform and feel fine. I think we can help ourselves by redefining what our expectation is every day. And if you have a coach, a significant other, or you have association with devotees that are confidential, you could say, "I need some encouragement. How am I looking? How am I doing?" And they can say, "You? You're fantastic." It's helpful for somebody to remind us of what we've done and how we're doing. So it's a common experience, and Kṛṣṇa warns us not to become overwhelmed by it in the verse : SB 11.20.27-28 jāta-śraddho mat-kathāsu nirviṇṇaḥ sarva-karmasu veda duḥkhātmakān kāmān parityāge 'py anīśvaraḥ tato bhajeta māṁ prītaḥ śraddhālur dṛḍha-niścayaḥ juṣamāṇaś ca tān kāmān duḥkhodarkāṁś ca garhayan There He recognizes there's this stage in which most people are in. Because they've started devotional service, it seems really exciting, and then they say, "Oh, I have to swim across the ocean of anartha-nivṛtti," and that swimming across an ocean takes a while. And then He says, "But don't worry, just keep swimming. Even if you don't have the power to do what you think you should be doing, keep swimming." https://vedabase.io/en/library/sb/11/20/27-28/ Link to the entire lecture: https://youtu.be/d8BSS3TA4mQ ------------------------------------------------------------ To connect with His Grace Vaiśeṣika Dāsa, please visit https://www.fanthespark.com/next-steps/ask-vaisesika-dasa/ ------------------------------------------------------------ Add to your wisdom literature collection: https://www.bbtacademic.com/books/ (USA only) https://thefourquestionsbook.com/ ------------------------------------------------------------ Join us live on Facebook: https://www.facebook.com/FanTheSpark/ Podcasts: https://podcasts.apple.com/us/podcast/sound-bhakti/id1132423868 For the latest videos, subscribe https://www.youtube.com/@FanTheSpark For the latest in SoundCloud: https://soundcloud.com/fan-the-spark

Chhath devotees pray submerged in toxic Yamuna foam, anti-foam chemicals merely an eyewash
It is the duty of a Vaiṣṇava ācārya to prevent his disciples and followers from violating the principles of Vaiṣṇava behavior. He should always advise them to strictly follow the regulative principles, which will protect them from falling down. Although a Vaiṣṇava preacher may sometimes criticize others, Raghunātha Bhaṭṭa avoided this. Even if another Vaiṣṇava was actually at fault, Raghunātha Bhaṭṭa would not criticize him; he saw only that everyone was engaged in Kṛṣṇa's service. That is the position of a mahā-bhāgavata. Actually, even if one is serving māyā, in a higher sense he is also a servant of Kṛṣṇa. Because māyā is the servant of Kṛṣṇa, anyone serving māyā serves Kṛṣṇa indirectly. ..when you give up the tendency to say, "This is mine." For instance, with intellectual property, we may hear something and then say, "Oh, that came from somebody else, but I'm going to present it as mine because I want to enjoy the fame of saying something that sounds witty." We don't admit it. Vraja Vihari Prabhu told me once, "When you give credit where credit is due, you don't lose credit." On the other hand, another Godbrother told me, "If you take credit where credit isn't due, later on, you'll be blamed for something you didn't do." You might wonder, "I didn't do anything; they blame me." It's because you claimed credit at one time. Devotees know these subtleties, that everything evens out in the world. It's okay to be who you are, which is a servant of Krishna. Counterintuitively, those who are simple servants, who want no fame, get the most fame. Madhavaendra Puri is an example. So pure of heart that when he found out that the Deity of Kṣīra-corā-gopīnātha had saved some sweet rice for him and the.... So, there's a way in which everyone has a capacity. When we take the mantras and when we take books—which are literary Kirtan—they get to carry it home, and the mantra goes on and on for generations so that people may take advantage of it. Writing is simply speech abstracted anyway. When we see the result ourselves, how people react to the mantra, how they come alive, it's in parallel. The parallel I'm making is that animals would be killed. Nowadays, asuryā nāma te lokā, andhena tamasāvṛtāḥ, tāḿs te pretyābhigacchanti, ye ke cātma-hano janāḥ (Śrī Īśopaniṣad, Mantra 3). It says there's a process by which the soul is veritably killed by getting involved with the material nature. The mind, which is meant to think of Krishna, becomes Jaḍa—dead like stone—and they can't think of anything except for matter, thinking, "Oh, I'm also dead stone." But when they come in contact with Hare Krishna, transcendent literature, and the association of devotees, we see that they come alive, and then our faith in the mantra grows. In the final episode of Chapter 12, Krishna describes the qualities of a devotee who is equally disposed to friends and enemies, free from honor and dishonor, heat and cold, happiness and distress. Those who possess these qualities and faithfully follow the path of devotion are especially dear to Krishna.
Though it seems the worst is behind the people of Palisade, there is work yet to do. Work made harder by the realization that the work already done had higher costs than anticipated. But still, the members of the Cause do what they must to confront the remaining occupation forces, to bring each other back from the brink, and to steel themselves for what is to come next. This week on PALISADE: A Palette of Colors Pt. 7 Inhale, exhale like never ending / Life before us, light leaving us down Dossier People Lucia Whitestar (she/her): The young “Lady Whitestar” emerged as a strategic genius during the early conflict between Kesh and Apostolos on PARTIZAN five years ago. Daughter of the Peaceful Princept, Cynosure Whitestar-Kesh. Commands her forces from her flagship, the Lander One with the support of her combat AI, Fire Support (it/its). Places Chimera's Lantern: The second moon of Palisade, shaped oddly like a wasp's nest or paper lantern. New arrivals to the world find its occasional glow unnatural and frightening. Home to the Chimeric Cadent (they/them, it/its), an amalgam of the ancient Excerpt ⸢Signet⸣, the mysterious Waking Cadent, and the Divine Belgard. As one being, they protect the corpses of a number of Divines, including Sagacity, Dissent, Felicity, Barricade, and Bounty—its newest resident. Currently, Stel Nideo's master armsmith, the Divine Consecration, lays siege to the Cadent's refuge, attempting to rebuild an army to reconquer Palisade. Temple of the Threshold: Built at the center of a massive bridge that crosses the Diadem, this temple served as the home of New Asterism and its false prophet until Future fled under the protection of the Devotees. Now, it is home to Wakeful, the (post-)Divine gestalt. Divines The Divine Future (they/them, it/its): An ancient divine, dating back to the second major war in the Golden Branch star sector. Exists in the form of a golden orb slightly larger than a softball or bocce ball, which can either be carried by or hover around its Elect. Historically, it has been bidden to share its unparalleled perspective on the hopes and dreams of its chosen (and the endless vigor with which to pursue those goals). Now, sensing Wakeful's strength, Future has provided the rhetorical pathway for itself, Devotion, Crusade, and the fragments of Stel Nideo on Palisade to come under the gestalt being's protection—and perhaps to reshape its destiny. The Divine Integrity (it/its): Sometimes appearing as an articulated staff or a metallic spine, Integrity integrates itself into its chosen user. Once the two are connected, Integrity becomes a powerful exoskeleton, and supports its user in matters of military and morale. Until being assassinated by Brnine, Dahlia, the Glorious Princept, was the elect of Integrity. Now, it has found a new home in Thisbe. The Divine Motion (she/her): One of the founding members of the Pact, the necromantic Apostolosian divine once led its infamous retinue, the Black Century, on Partizan. They were defeated and dispersed, turned into part of Kalmeria, during Operation Shackled Sun. Mysteries Wakeful (any): Wounded, yet still curious. Cautious, yet still creative. Powerful, yet still vulnerable. Wakeful is a newly emerging, gestalt being composed by the Divines freed from the Garden of Fidelity and the Delegates who have rejoined with them. Wakeful has found itself in an odd position, as the remaining forces of Stel Nideo, the Devotees, and Future vow themselves to what they call its new Kingdom on Palisade. How this new, potentially post-divine being develops—and how it will relate to those who have suffered under occupation on Palisade—remains unclear. The Iconoclasts: Something beyond the human, desperate to eradicate subjectivity itself. After their messenger, the Usher of Truth, was delivered to The Witch in Glass, they have found themselves serving a new master. Having played their opening gambits, the leaders of Palisade now find they face unprecedented situations. At the center of it is the being calling itself Wakeful, an emerging gestalt consciousness comprised of (but irreducible to) the Divines freed from the Garden of Fidelity. As the guilty hide in its shadow, the Cause must determine how to act. Is this a new front to the war, or something else?
