In this heart-opening episode of the Free Radical Podcast, Swami Padmanabha sits in warm, searching dialogue with renowned Vaishnava musician, author, and sincere seeker Bali Rico. Born in the United States to Colombian parents and raised partly in the sacred atmosphere of Mayapur, Bali's formative years unfolded amidst ashram life, devotional sound, and the living rhythms of ancient India. As co-founder of the kirtan collective Mayapuris, his innovative mridanga playing helped shape what many now recognize as the “Mayapur sound”—dynamic, immersive, and communal at heart. But Bali's artistry does not end in kirtan. A lyricist and multi-instrumentalist, his hip hop expression carries the pulse of a born percussionist—intricate in rhythm, philosophical in depth, and confessional in tone. His music becomes a space where protest and prayer meet… where social critique reveals hidden layers of grief, longing, and sacred vulnerability. In this rich exchange, Swami Padmanabha and Bali explore:✨ Kirtan as a social and spiritual phenomenon✨ The necessity of communion—and the realizations we cannot reach alone✨ Growing up in a religious family while meeting the outer world✨ Fatherhood and the inner shifts it awakens✨ Hip hop as sacred confession and emotional truth-telling✨ The dialogue between science and spirituality✨ Building a mature, relatable, and sustainable spiritual life informed by multiple disciplines What unfolds is more than conversation—it is a meeting of hearts, a weaving of sound, philosophy, culture, and lived experience into a shared inquiry on what it means to be human in devotion. Thank you for being part of this ongoing conversation.

In the Age of Kali, intelligent persons perform congregational chanting to worship the incarnation of Godhead who constantly sings the names of Kṛṣṇa. My deepest thanks to the Mayapur Institute, to my teachers, Rādhikā Nāgara and Śrīvāsa Paṇḍita Prabhu, and my wife, Nirākulā Devī Dāsī, without whom I would not have been able to procure this diploma. Seeing Śrīla Prabhupāda's dedication to writing his books, and having received a personal instruction from him in 1973 to read his books, I'm very happy to offer this diploma to His Divine Grace A. C. Bhaktivedanta Swami Prabhupāda. And noticing how much effort he put into writing his books, I've always thought: if I can put in as much effort into reading his books as he's put into writing them, then maybe I will amount to something. Of course, I can nowhere match his efforts, because he's from the spiritual world, but I'm running behind him with that endeavor. So on this day, I hereby offer to His Divine Grace A. C. Bhaktivedanta Swami Prabhupāda this diploma, which is an offering from my heart. Thanks for saving me from this dark material world through his divine books; and I intend, for the rest of my life, to continue studying them deeply, trying to assimilate what he's given, which is the most valuable, heartfelt spiritual knowledge available anywhere within all three worlds. My sincere request to all my disciples: please read all of Śrīla Prabhupāda's books. Please take Bhakti-śāstrī, Bhakti-vaibhava, Bhakti-vedānta, and when it's available, Bhakti-sārvabhauma. Always study Śrīla Prabhupāda's books, because they're as deep as the ocean; and if you try to swim in that ocean, you'll find out just how deep it is. In the process, you'll become fully Kṛṣṇa conscious by the mercy of His Divine Grace. Thank you for considering my request. ------------------------------------------------------------ To connect with His Grace Vaiśeṣika Dāsa, please visit https://www.fanthespark.com/next-steps/ask-vaisesika-dasa/?utm_source=youtube&utm_medium=video&utm_campaign=launch2025 ------------------------------------------------------------ Add to your wisdom literature collection: https://iskconsv.com/book-store/?utm_source=youtube&utm_medium=video&utm_campaign=launch2025 https://www.bbtacademic.com/books/?utm_source=youtube&utm_medium=video&utm_campaign=launch2025 https://thefourquestionsbook.com/?utm_source=youtube&utm_medium=video&utm_campaign=launch2025 ------------------------------------------------------------ Join us live on Facebook: https://www.facebook.com/FanTheSpark/ Podcasts: https://podcasts.apple.com/us/podcast/sound-bhakti/id1132423868 For the latest videos, subscribe https://www.youtube.com/@FanTheSpark For the latest in SoundCloud: https://soundcloud.com/fan-the-spark ------------------------------------------------------------ #spiritualawakening #soul #spiritualexperience #spiritualpurposeoflife #spiritualgrowthlessons #secretsofspirituality #vaisesikaprabhu #vaisesikadasa #vaisesikaprabhulectures #spirituality #bhaktiyoga #krishna #spiritualpurposeoflife #krishnaspirituality #spiritualusachannel #whybhaktiisimportant #whyspiritualityisimportant #vaisesika #spiritualconnection #thepowerofspiritualstudy #selfrealization #spirituallectures #spiritualstudy #spiritualquestions #spiritualquestionsanswered #trendingspiritualtopics #fanthespark #spiritualpowerofmeditation #spiritualteachersonyoutube #spiritualhabits #spiritualclarity #bhagavadgita #srimadbhagavatam #spiritualbeings #kttvg #keepthetranscendentalvibrationgoing #spiritualpurpose

Everybody carries a song in their heart. That's what moves all of us. Melody and rhythm are universal. So in Bhakti, when we sing these bhajans, they go deeply within our body. They overwrite the other sound vibrations that are there, and they leave us with the clear, pristine spiritual sounds of another realm. And when we have those and we can aspire for that realm, actually, we'll be carried to that realm by the power of that sound vibration. There's an interesting, if not humorous, statement in the Bhāgavata about how there are only two kinds of people who are happy: there is the fool who is in ignorance and the person who has attained complete perfection. Everybody else in between feels 'a pinch.' In fact there is a verse Kṛṣṇa speaks (SB 11.20.27-28) about this interim stage where He says: jāta-śraddho mat-kathāsu nirviṇṇaḥ sarva-karmasu veda duḥkhātmakān kāmān parityāge 'py anīśvaraḥ tato bhajeta māṁ prītaḥ śraddhālur dṛḍha-niścayaḥ juṣamāṇaś ca tān kāmān duḥkhodarkāṁś ca garhyan He acknowledges that someone's faith has awakened—jāta-śraddha. Jāta means the faith has awakened in hearing and chanting, and they say this is the panacea. Then He also says they are aware that sense gratification leads to misery—veda duḥkhātmakān kāmān. But parityāge 'py anīśvaraḥ: He says they don't have the power to not engage in sense gratification. Īśvara means "supreme controller"; it also means the ability to do something. Parityāge means they can't give it up, even though they know that it's not sanguine. But then He goes on to say, tato bhajeta māṁ prītaḥ śraddhālur dṛḍha-niścayaḥ: You should continue on the path with and not be too disturbed because of the fact that you're not at a stage where you feel masterful. (And this isn't exactly your point yet, but I'm building a foundation for getting there.) At the end of the verse, He uses the word garhyan. Garhyan means you can be a little concerned but not overly so that you are not in the position yet because as the ācāryas explain that word in the verse: if you become overly disturbed by your own ineptitude, then you may give up the process. So Kṛṣṇa is encouraging and saying, "It's okay; you're in the medium stage. So keep going. ------------------------------------------------------------ To connect with His Grace Vaiśeṣika Dāsa, please visit https://www.fanthespark.com/next-steps/ask-vaisesika-dasa/?utm_source=youtube&utm_medium=video&utm_campaign=launch2025 ------------------------------------------------------------ Add to your wisdom literature collection: https://iskconsv.com/book-store/?utm_source=youtube&utm_medium=video&utm_campaign=launch2025 https://www.bbtacademic.com/books/?utm_source=youtube&utm_medium=video&utm_campaign=launch2025 https://thefourquestionsbook.com/?utm_source=youtube&utm_medium=video&utm_campaign=launch2025 ------------------------------------------------------------ Join us live on Facebook: https://www.facebook.com/FanTheSpark/ Podcasts: https://podcasts.apple.com/us/podcast/sound-bhakti/id1132423868 For the latest videos, subscribe https://www.youtube.com/@FanTheSpark For the latest in SoundCloud: https://soundcloud.com/fan-the-spark ------------------------------------------------------------ #spiritualawakening #soul #spiritualexperience #spiritualpurposeoflife #spiritualgrowthlessons #secretsofspirituality #vaisesikaprabhu #vaisesikadasa #vaisesikaprabhulectures #spirituality #bhaktiyoga #krishna #spiritualpurposeoflife #krishnaspirituality #spiritualusachannel #whybhaktiisimportant #whyspiritualityisimportant #vaisesika #spiritualconnection #thepowerofspiritualstudy #selfrealization #spirituallectures #spiritualstudy #spiritualquestions #spiritualquestionsanswered #trendingspiritualtopics #fanthespark #spiritualpowerofmeditation #spiritualteachersonyoutube #spiritualhabits #spiritualclarity #bhagavadgita #srimadbhagavatam #spiritualbeings #kttvg #keepthetranscendentalvibrationgoing #spiritualpurpose

Prabhupāda was looking not just to save souls, but also to recruit those who could save souls. When he came across Śrīla Gour Govinda Mahārāja, he immediately promoted him to the ideal position from which he would have full authority to spread Kṛṣṇa consciousness—to preach Kṛṣṇa consciousness everywhere—by giving him three initiations at once. In that, he served as a bridge to Kṛṣṇa consciousness for many devotees and set an example. In the words of Yudhiṣṭhira: bhavad-vidhā bhāgavatās tīrtha-bhūtāḥ svayaṁ vibho tīrthī-kurvanti tīrthāni svāntaḥ-sthena gadābhṛtā Such a person who is empowered carries Kṛṣṇa within his heart and therefore becomes a crossing-over point for others. The word tīrtha refers to the narrowing of a river; we call it the "straits." There are places in rivers that are generally impassable, where they narrow—also called the "narrows"—where one can step across. So, the word tīrtha means a crossing point. When we have the opportunity to be connected to such a person—one who has all the spiritual qualifications, has been empowered by a spiritual master, and is fully able to deliver transcendental knowledge—we have come to a place where we can step across from the material world to the spiritual world. Such an exalted devotee is Śrīla Gour Govinda Mahārāja. Therefore, he is worthy to be praised—not just while he was present, but as he has departed. He made his tirobhāva (disappearance) so that we can take his example and avail ourselves of the process that he showed us. By following Śrīla Prabhupāda he showed by example to his disciples and all of us how to follow faithfully, taking full advantage of what Prabhupāda has given us, to gloriously leave the world in full Kṛṣṇa consciousness and go back home, back to Godhead. ------------------------------------------------------------ To connect with His Grace Vaiśeṣika Dāsa, please visit https://www.fanthespark.com/next-steps/ask-vaisesika-dasa/?utm_source=youtube&utm_medium=video&utm_campaign=launch2025 ------------------------------------------------------------ Add to your wisdom literature collection: https://iskconsv.com/book-store/?utm_source=youtube&utm_medium=video&utm_campaign=launch2025 https://www.bbtacademic.com/books/?utm_source=youtube&utm_medium=video&utm_campaign=launch2025 https://thefourquestionsbook.com/?utm_source=youtube&utm_medium=video&utm_campaign=launch2025 ------------------------------------------------------------ Join us live on Facebook: https://www.facebook.com/FanTheSpark/ Podcasts: https://podcasts.apple.com/us/podcast/sound-bhakti/id1132423868 For the latest videos, subscribe https://www.youtube.com/@FanTheSpark For the latest in SoundCloud: https://soundcloud.com/fan-the-spark ------------------------------------------------------------ #spiritualawakening #soul #spiritualexperience #spiritualpurposeoflife #spiritualgrowthlessons #secretsofspirituality #vaisesikaprabhu #vaisesikadasa #vaisesikaprabhulectures #spirituality #bhaktiyoga #krishna #spiritualpurposeoflife #krishnaspirituality #spiritualusachannel #whybhaktiisimportant #whyspiritualityisimportant #vaisesika #spiritualconnection #thepowerofspiritualstudy #selfrealization #spirituallectures #spiritualstudy #spiritualquestions #spiritualquestionsanswered #trendingspiritualtopics #fanthespark #spiritualpowerofmeditation #spiritualteachersonyoutube #spiritualhabits #spiritualclarity #bhagavadgita #srimadbhagavatam #spiritualbeings #kttvg #keepthetranscendentalvibrationgoing #spiritualpurpose

Just as a cloud pours water on a forest fire to extinguish it, so the spiritual master delivers the materially afflicted world by extinguishing the blazing fire of material existence. I offer my respectful obeisances unto the lotus feet of such a spiritual master, who is an ocean of auspicious qualities. 2) Chanting the holy name, dancing in ecstasy, singing, and playing musical instruments, the spiritual master is always gladdened by the sankirtana movement of Lord Caitanya Mahaprabhu. Because he is relishing the mellows of pure devotion within his mind, sometimes his hair stands on end, he feels quivering in his body, and tears flow from his eyes like waves. I offer my respectful obeisances unto the lotus feet of such a spiritual master. 3) The spiritual master is always engaged in the temple worship of Sri Sri Radha and Krsna. He also engages his disciples in such worship. They dress the Deities in beautiful clothes and ornaments, clean Their temple, and perform other similar worship of the Lord. I offer my respectful obeisances unto the lotus feet of such a spiritual master. 4) The spiritual master is always offering Krsna four kinds of delicious food [analyzed as that which is licked, chewed, drunk, and sucked]. When the spiritual master sees that the devotees are satisfied by eating bhagavat-prasada, he is satisfied. I offer my respectful obeisances unto the lotus feet of such a spiritual master. 5) The spiritual master is always eager to hear and chant about the unlimited conjugal pastimes of Radhika and Madhava, and Their qualities, names, and forms. The spiritual master aspires to relish these at every moment. I offer my respectful obeisances unto the lotus feet of such a spiritual master. 6) The spiritual master is very dear, because he is expert in assisting the gopis, who at different times make different tasteful arrangements for the perfection of Radha and Krsna's conjugal loving affairs within the groves of Vrndavana. I offer my most humble obeisances unto the lotus feet of such a spiritual master. 7) The spiritual master is to be honored as much as the Supreme Lord, because he is the most confidential servitor of the Lord. This is acknowledged in all revealed scriptures and followed by all authorities. Therefore I offer my respectful obeisances unto the lotus feet of such a spiritual master, who is a bona fide representative of Sri Hari [Krsna]. 8) By the mercy of the spiritual master one receives the benediction of Krsna. Without the grace of the spiritual master, one cannot make any advancement. Therefore, I should always remember and praise the spiritual master. At least three times a day I should offer my respectful obeisances unto the lotus feet of my spiritual master.

Using Confucius' insight on wisdom, compassion, and courage, this episode explores why compassion is not sentiment or softness, but a measure of real growth. Drawing from the prayers of the Nāgapatnīs in the Śrīmad Bhāgavatam, the conversation moves into fear, surrender, and why grace does not wait for a perfectly purified heart. So what we have here is an institution meant to continually channel the water that Śrī Nityānanda Prabhu, brought from the great ocean of mercy of Kṛṣṇa. We're kind of like civil engineers, right? Sometimes they cut channels like Mulholland; Los Angeles wouldn't be a name right now if Mulholland, a very expert engineer, hadn't figured out how to "steal" all the water from Northern California (you can tell where I'm from) and bring it down to Los Angeles to make the desert fertile. Economics, I learned from an economics book, is the science of managing scarce resources and thereafter the law of supply and demand; but we learn from the Śrī Caitanya-caritāmṛta that there is no scarce resource in the spiritual world. The more we channel the mercy of Nityānanda Prabhu to the world, the more the supply increases. That's a Haribol! That's a secret of success. Also, when we have an institution meant to distribute mercy, "the devil is in the details," but we can come out of the details by principles. And one of the principles that Śrī Nityānanda Prabhu exhibited and taught to the world is the principle of adoṣa-darśī. Everyone is envious in the material world—my brother gets a raise, and I think, "Darn"; somebody else leads a great kīrtana, it feels like ughh!! As Kṛṣṇa says in the Bhagavad-gītā, this is the lingering disease in the material world. Śrī Nityānanda Prabhu represents the uttama-adhikārī who sees beyond the faults of all living entities, which are cataloged by Śrīla Viśvanātha Cakravartī Ṭhākura in the Fourth Canto of the Śrīmad-Bhāgavatam in his commentary, where he says there are four kinds of people that are highly expert at finding faults, some are better at it than others. And there are four kinds of saintly persons who are expert at following finding the good qualities in others. The first fault-finder sees that there are good qualities and bad qualities and then he only sees the bad; second, he's more advanced, he sees the good and bad qualities so he brings up the bad quality to make sure everybody knows about it; the third doesn't even see any good qualities, just sees the bad; and the fourth is so expert that even in those that only have good qualities, he finds some fault. Conversely, in those who represent Lord Nityānanda to one degree or another, the first sees good and bad qualities but chooses to see the good; the second one sees good and bad and brings up the good quality; the third doesn't see the bad quality, just the good; and the fourth, even in a person who is sudurācāra, who has no good qualities factually, a person who is a representative of Lord Nityānanda finds a good quality. The first interaction I remember having with you was at the old Calcutta airport sometime in the 1990s. A group of about six god sisters, traveling together, arrived on the same flight as you and a few god brothers. Our cars had not yet arrived to take us to Mayapur, and we were unsure what to do. There were no cell phones. We were stuck. Whilst everyone else from the flight left, you, alone, stayed behind to help us arrange transportation. I'm not sure how long it took, but you didn't leave until we were safely packed and on our way. This simple act of kindness left a lasting impression on me. Since that time, I have witnessed and often heard about many such instances of your personal care and willingness to go out of your way to give your association and support. Your loving friendships with your god siblings have been a source of inspiration to me and so many others. You embody the same personal warmth and compassion with which Śrīla Prabhupāda interacted with His disciples. It doesn't matter one's position, what service one renders, or how steadily one maintains devotional service standards. You always offer understanding, encouragement, and heartfelt compassion. (excerpt from HG Nirakula Dasi's offering) ------------------------------------------------------------ I received from his home, His Holiness Radhanath Swami, a piece of advice which I hold dear and which I consider one of the most useful pieces of advice I have ever received. In one of our conversations, in which I was complaining about how overwhelming all the problems are in management, and I was listing some of the conflicts that were seemingly intractable, he gave me straightforward, very simple advice that I go back to again and again. He said to me, "You have to be blissful in order to deal with problems. Therefore, your main duty as a leader/manager is to find out how to make yourself blissful by being deeply absorbed in Kṛṣṇa consciousness." I feel that this answer contains all of Śrīla Prabhupāda's most important instructions. It's at once practical and fully aligned with Śrīla Prabhupāda's mood. And I will say that Rādhānāth Swami exemplifies this, because of his advancement in devotional service. Despite the fact that he has service that is unimaginable for any one human being, he is able to handle it because he always remains blissful by being engaged in Kṛṣṇa consciousness—hearing and chanting, remembering Kṛṣṇa wherever he goes—and this is the key to life. I'm forever grateful to him for his association, for all he's doing for the saṅkīrtana movement, and for this one piece of advice, which has kept me steady and engaged in service over so many years. Applied Procrastination: Stay in The Moment And Chant | GYR | Mayapur | 2 Jan 2023

Play Episode Listen Later Jan 14, 2025 29:08

And today, I just want to mention a principle that's very helpful in staying in the moment and continuing chanting despite the phenomena that the mind will drag us in various ways, as Kṛṣṇa mentions in the Bhagavad Gitā. So, that's a principle called applied procrastination. Procrastination—everybody knows how to procrastinate because all you do is just put things off until the next time. And the same principle can be applied in staying fixed in Japa. When the mind comes with some other idea besides chanting, like, could you name three things the mind might suggest to say, "Rather than doing this, let's go do that"? Sleep. Sleep. Now, it's a "sleep now" movement, so there could be sleep. That's definitely one of the ones that's like, "I'm tired. I want to go sleep." That can also be overcome by going to bed earlier. It is important to manage sleep in order to have good Japa. What's another one? You want to go talk prajalpa instead. Somebody's out on the balcony talking about some juicy gossip, and you don't want to miss it. What's the third one? Planning. Yeah, there might be some plans you have to make, something like that, and it could be a correspondence that you forgot. And then it comes into your mind that, "Oh, if I don't do it now, this person's going to hate me, and I can't tolerate it," so I give up chanting, and I go away. So, that's four, but there could be 1,000 that we could name possibly. So, the principle of applied procrastination was showed to us by Haridāsa Thākura, or the Nāmācharya. When a prostitute came, he didn't say never. He just said later. And the word "later" is really helpful because there's always some later. And instead of saying no, and whatever you resist persists, you just say, "Sure, no problem, but not right now. I'll just wait till later on," and just put it off so that can be really helpful. That works for many different kinds of discipline. Like if you don't want to eat too much, and the mind says to eat, you just say, "Well, you know, there's going to be another meal later. I'll make up for it next time, and I'll eat less. I'll eat half as much this time, and next time I'll eat twice as much." But later never comes. You just keep putting it off. It's the same with taxes. You're supposed to defer taxes till later, when you're in a lower tax bracket. And also, there's a saying that "justice delayed is justice denied." So, it's a tactic in the legal circles. It's like, "Okay, not right now, we'll just deal with it later," and you keep putting obstacles so it's further away. And then there's another principle that helps, which is something they teach in accounting, which is especially for accounts receivable. It's called the law of diminishing intent because the longer you wait to collect on a bill, the less people are willing to pay it because the time factor makes their will less strong. So, just delay and staying in the process of chanting. (excerpt from the talk) Other highlights : Do Your Own Japa Retreat - focusing on personal daily chanting practice Applied Procrastination in Japa - using procrastination to stay focused on chanting Just For Now - emphasizing present-moment awareness during chanting Publish or Perish in Spiritual Life - stressing daily spiritual effort Fear the Fade - addressing the importance of continual improvement in chanting ------------------------------------------------------------ To connect with His Grace Vaiśeṣika Dāsa, please visit https://www.fanthespark.com/next-steps/ask-vaisesika-dasa/ Join us live on Facebook: https://www.facebook.com/FanTheSpark/ Podcasts: https://podcasts.apple.com/us/podcast/sound-bhakti/id1132423868 For the latest videos, subscribe https://www.youtube.com/@FanTheSpark For the latest in SoundCloud: https://soundcloud.com/fan-the-spark

So coming to the Yogapīṭha and recognizing, through understanding the philosophy of Bhagavad Gītā and Śrīmad Bhāgavatam, that a perfect relationship is available with the perfect person. It makes the heart jump to think that this could be possible. In fact, we've been disappointed so many times. Krishna says, "Vita Raghava, you have to give up this disappointment and recognize that you do have the possibility of having a relationship with me." So here at Yogapīṭha, you can make a sankalpa, "Krishna, I'm going to bring my attention to you," and that can be done. "Yāḥ śrutvā tat-paro bhavet (SB 10.33.36)," by hearing about Krishna, if you hear Śrīmad Bhāgavatam, you become inoculated from all of the foolish ways of interacting with the world, like Purūravā and Urvaśī. If you read those two chapters, then you see what you look like when you become enamored by a temporary relationship in this world where you're writing poetry that goes like this: "I love you. I love you so." And Purūravā looks foolish to us, and so as I've said over consistently during the Yatra, don't fool around. What's the name of the artist? As Elvin Bishop wrote in his song, "I Fooled Around and Fell in Love." Don't fool around. This coming to Yogapīṭha means no more fooling around. I'm going to fall in love with Lord Caitanya. I'm not going to fool around and fall in love here in this material world yet again and take rebirth, because I'm enamored of a temporary form. Get enamored of the eternal form. Carry a picture of Krishna around with you. Go to the temple, see Krishna. Take brahminical initiation. Worship Krishna on the altar. Dress him, bathe him, chant His name, take caraṇāmṛta, and think of His lotus feet. Go out and teach Krishna consciousness to others and see that everyone's just fooling around. There's this tendency to diminish anything anyone else is doing comes from the envy within the heart. But Rūpa Gosvāmī says, a miracle happens by the association of pure devotees, and that is gradually one's heart changes, and there's no more envy within the heart. And therefore 'nindādi-śūnya-hṛdam īpsita-saṅga-labdhyā,' the person then becomes free from nindā. Do you know somebody who is a professional at criticizing what they're called? A nindaka, or, you know, nindanīyā, like a kīrtanīyā. The kīrtanīyā is they're always singing Haribol! But a nindanīyā is somebody who's always singing other people's faults, and they criticize everyone, but that idea or impulse doesn't enter within the heart of a sādhu. So tolerance, steadiness, and mukhyā prasādāt and they're long, long lists of qualities of the sādhu. In this verse 'satāṁprasaṅgān mama vīrya-saṁvido bhavanti hṛt-karṇa-rasāyanāḥ kathāḥ (SB 3.25.25),' there's the most important quality mentioned of all, and that is that the sādhus are always speaking about Kṛṣṇa's glories. Vīrya means that the Lord's activities are glorious. And such a person is not interested in the mundane news of the world. Prabhupāda mentions that the devotees are not so interested in following the news because he says "Things will go the way they're going to go, and what can you do?" But we're on a different track, and those who follow Sādhus are on a different track. They're interested in discussing in more and more detail the activities of the Lord and His pastimes. It was founded by A. C. Bhaktivedanta Swami Prabhupada. on July 13, 1966, in New York City. ISKCON's main headquarters is in Mayapur, West Bengal, India and it claims approximately 1 million members globally.ISKCON members practice a distinct form of monotheistic Hinduism, grounded in Hindu scriptures and especially guided by A. We can't see ourselves. We can't see Kṛṣṇa either. But, if we—just like with sonar or with sonogram, that word 'son/sony'- through the sound vibration, it resonates with our higher self, with our actual self, with our spiritual self. And not only can we see ourselves, but we can also see Kṛṣṇa through the process of transcendental sound vibration. This is 'anāvṛtti śabdād'; everything becomes revealed through the sound vibration. ..just after Kṛṣṇa left the world for His own abode, then to fill the darkness again, Śrīmad-Bhāgavatam then appeared, and it's non-different from Kṛṣṇa. So, when the Śrīmad-Bhāgavatam appeared in the world, then we have the life of Śrī Caitanya Mahāprabhu who personifies the Bhāgavatam. We know that Śrīla Prabhupāda, when he was in Vṛndāvana and he was considering how to carry out his mission to spread Krishna Consciousness all over the world, embarked on the translation and commentation on the Śrīmad-Bhāgavatam before he would leave Vṛndāvana. There's a picture of Śrīla Prabhupāda holding one of his volumes of Śrīmad-Bhāgavatam. He's holding it up like this. I have it somewhere in one of our slide decks, but it reminds me of him leading the charge into the battlefield, and that's exactly what he did. He spent the time in Vṛndāvana typing, typing, typing. In Chippiwada, the very pious brahmana who gave Prabhupāda a flat where he could do his work, Prabhupāda had a typewriter, probably typed with two fingers like this, and he said, did the owner of the flat that Prabhupāda was in there and what was he doing? typing, typing, typing, he said all day typing. Another account of Śrīla Prabhupāda in Vṛndāvana was that he was also typing, typing, typing. And there was one person that used to sometimes bring Prabhupāda prasādam to his room. But Prabhupāda was so absorbed in writing the Bhāgavatam in his commentary for the first canto that sometimes you just had to leave the prasādam outside the door. Because Prabhupāda didn't even answer the door because he was in samadhi - typing, typing, typing, the commentaries to the Bhāgavatam. When he had it in hand, then he brought it out. But what did he write in the beginning of the Bhāgavatam? He wrote the biography of Śrī Caitanya Mahāprabhu because the life of Śrī Caitanya Mahāprabhu follows the Bhāgavatam. He exemplifies the Bhāgavatam. Prabhupāda then came to America, and he brought with him only Bhāgavatam. You can hear on the Jaladuta, because he wrote down the words and we have them now, what his thoughts were, and that was that "let people hear this transcendental message of the Bhāgavatam, only by that will'... Madhuri and Praneswara Das are Krishna devotees from Mayapur, Kolkata. Madhuri was always scared of needles. When she learnt she is pregnant which she was expecting , she was terrified on how to go about it. Initially, they did go to the doctor for checkups but there was a point when after an ultrasound they decided to do, the doctor said the liver of the baby is not functioning. This was a huge blow but they were not held or emotionally supported at the hospital.Their faith and birth education, support from midwives and birth community kept them going. All along their faith in God led them , their baby was absolutely fine at birth with no issues. This podcast was recorded when the baby was over 6 months old.It is interesting that after 3 days of labor, the placenta was not born for 9 hours, how did they cope up with this situation and what do they say about their inclination towards home birth if they have another baby.Tune in now !Prepare for Birth, explore Prenatal and Postnatal Preparation Classes, visit www.birthagni.comSupport the show: If you like what you hear, leave us a rating on Spotify app and answer the question at each episode! a review on Apple podcasts.
