Lemongrove Oil: https://www.lemongroveoil.com/ Episode Description In this episode of Conversations with a Chiropractor, Dr. Stephanie Wautier sits down with Dr. Craig Slapinski, a chiropractor and former Palmer College classmate whose career has taken him from the Midwest to Ghana, Nigeria, and beyond. Dr. Craig shares how a love of travel shaped his life long before chiropractic school. From building houses in Mexico as a teenager to studying abroad in London, backpacking through Europe, exploring China, and traveling through Southeast Asia, his path has always included curiosity, adventure, and a willingness to step into unfamiliar places. That same spirit eventually led him to Ghana after chiropractic school, where he worked in a high-volume clinic and quickly learned how to trust his hands, sharpen his adjusting skills, and serve patients with limited equipment and a lot of real-world pressure. Years later, he returned to West Africa with a more focused mission: to bring nonsurgical spinal decompression care to communities where access to this type of treatment was limited. Stephanie and Dr. Craig talk about chiropractic in Ghana and Nigeria, what makes the healthcare experience different from the United States, and how his clinics use spinal decompression, cold laser, exercise, ergonomics, and rehabilitation to help patients dealing with disc-related back pain. This conversation is also about finding your own path. Dr. Craig's story is a reminder that a chiropractic career can take many shapes, and that sometimes the road you end up on is not the one you planned, but the one that fits who you are becoming. This episode is meant to inform and inspire, not replace personal medical advice. If you are dealing with back pain, disc issues, sciatica, or considering surgery, please work with a qualified healthcare professional who can evaluate your individual situation. In This Episode, Discover How Dr. Craig Slapinski and Dr. Stephanie Wautier met at Palmer College of Chiropractic Dr. Craig's early love of international travel What he learned from traveling through Mexico, Europe, China, Thailand, Laos, and Cambodia How a planned move to China turned into an unexpected opportunity in Ghana What it was like practicing chiropractic in Ghana right out of school How high-volume care helped Dr. Craig sharpen his adjusting skills How he became interested in nonsurgical spinal decompression What spinal decompression is designed to do for disc-related back pain Why some patients may explore decompression before considering surgery How Dr. Craig combines decompression, cold laser, exercise, and ergonomics Why he returned to Ghana and eventually expanded into Nigeria The differences between insurance-driven care in the United States and cash-based care in Africa What healthcare access, MRIs, and patient education can look like in Ghana and Nigeria How Dr. Craig's clinics serve patients across West Africa Why chiropractic careers can take many different paths Stay Connected & Explore Learn More About Dr. Craig Slapinski: To learn more about Dr. Craig's work in West Africa, search: Spine and Nerve Center Ghana Spine and Nerve Center Nigeria Episode Sponsor: Lemongrove Oil: https://www.lemongroveoil.com/ Use coupon code DRSTEPHANIE at checkout for 10% off. Finding Your Niche in Medicine with Ophthalmic and Dermatopathologist Dr. Anna StagnerChristine interviews Dr. Anna Stagner, a Harvard Associate Professor and Massachusetts Eye and Ear director who is board certified in ophthalmology, anatomic pathology, and dermatopathology and has authored nearly 100 publications. Stagner shares her background growing up in a small town in northern Arizona and her path from ophthalmology to ocular pathology, anatomic pathology, and dermatopathology. She advises exploring interests even if unconventional, prioritizing what you enjoy over what you're merely good at, and not fearing major training changes. For productivity, she recommends saying yes to meaningful projects, changing environments to work effectively, and using daily Post-it task lists. She discusses aligning career choices with personality, seeking helpers, her trainee-focused sign-out workday, and cautions that choosing a subspecialty makes you the destination for difficult cases in that area.00:00 Welcome and Guest Intro01:12 Podcast Chit Chat01:32 Small Town Origins02:38 Finding Your Passion04:24 Productivity Habits07:08 Changing Paths and Self Insight09:18 Choosing the Unconventional Route10:38 Specialty Planning Resources12:18 A Day in Ocular Pathology14:14 Picking Your Niche Wisely15:45 Wrap Up and Thanks
This conversation starts with a confronting question: are men actually built to be faithful? In this episode, I speak with Yale psychologist Dr. Bill von Hippel about the biology behind male variety-seeking, modern dating, commitment, dopamine, and why chasing more options often leaves people feeling more disconnected. We talk about serial monogamy, dating apps, social comparison, success, loneliness, and why the things we think will make us happy often don't.What I loved about this conversation is that it doesn't excuse behaviour, it explains the deeper forces underneath it. And the real takeaway is simple: we may chase novelty, status, and freedom, but what we actually need is connection.Dr. Bill von Hippel is a Yale psychologist, author, and researcher whose work explores human behaviour, happiness, connection, and the evolutionary forces that shape who we are.Timestamps: (00:00) Introduction(00:42) Serial Monogamy Origins(02:21) Testicles Tell All(04:26) Variety vs Pair Bonding(07:44) Dating Apps Trap(10:43) Status Won't Fulfill(15:06) Happiness Rises With Age(18:55) Modern Life Mismatch(23:13) Too Many Choices(26:37) Embrace Uncertainty(30:07) Connection Over Autonomy(32:40) Set a Sacrifice Deadline(33:35) Define Success Upfront(34:44) Accountability Reality Check(36:15) Careers as a Random Walk(36:50) Virtual vs Real Connection(39:11) Daily Connection Habits(41:48) Why We Need People(43:00) Autonomy Over Connection(47:07) City Life Connection Trap(49:23) Remote Work and Demographics(53:59) Kids, Marriage and Meaning(56:57) Finding Your Path(58:58) Advice to My Younger Self(59:47) Where to Find Bill(01:00:27) Final ThanksConnect with Nick:Instagram: https://instagram.com/nickbracksWebsite: http://nickbracks.comEmail: contact@nickbracks.comConnect with Bill:Instagram: https://www.instagram.com/williamvonhippel/Website: https://vonhippel.socialpsychology.org/ Hosted on Acast. Send us Fan MailIn this episode of the SheClicks Women in Photography Podcast, Angela Nicholson speaks with adventure photographer and filmmaker Grace Taylorson Smith Pritchard (AKA Grace T.S.P) about building a photography career by following what you genuinely love.Grace's route into photography wasn't straightforward. With a background in law and marine biology, she didn't begin with a clear plan to work in the creative industry. Instead, it was through travel, scuba diving and documenting her experiences that she picked up a camera and started to explore photography more seriously. What makes Grace's story so relatable is that she didn't try to force a niche. Instead, she photographed the things she already loved, including climbing, mountain biking and outdoor adventure. That authenticity naturally led to opportunities, from editorial features in adventure magazines to commercial photography work with outdoor brands. In this conversation, Grace shares what it really takes to work as an adventure photographer. From shooting in extreme environments to managing the physical demands of working in the mountains, she explains why skills, preparation and experience are just as important as creativity.Angela and Grace also discuss the balance between still photography and filmmaking, how personal projects can lead to paid work and why changing camera systems helped her rediscover her creative spark. This episode is a great listen for anyone looking to build a photography career in a way that feels true to them. Grace's journey is a reminder that you don't need a traditional path. Sometimes the best way forward is simply to start by photographing what you love most.Connect with GraceWebsiteInstagramSupport the show

[Original airdate 2/13/25] In today's Stand Up for the Truth, Dave Wager and Jeremy Lundgren, president of Nicolet Bible Institute, discuss the impact of higher education on young people's faith and direction. Lundgren shares his journey from studying construction to earning a Ph.D. in theology, emphasizing that education isn't just about career paths but personal growth and faith formation. They challenge the fear of “wasting time” in college, encouraging students to focus on learning, responsibility, and trusting God's guidance. Whether choosing a Christian or secular school, they stress the importance of knowing why you believe what you believe and surrounding yourself with mentors who will strengthen your faith. Click to Text Thoughts on Today's EpisodeWhat does it look like to navigate mental health struggles while living out your faith? It's a question many of us carry—sometimes silently. And it's one I was honored to explore in this week's conversation with Carla Arges.Carla's story isn't neat or easy. She experienced childhood trauma, homelessness at 14, misdiagnoses for years, and eventually received an accurate diagnosis of bipolar disorder and borderline personality disorder just six years ago.But here's what moved me most: Carla talks about thriving, not just surviving. And she does it in a way that's gentle, honest, and deeply rooted in partnership with the Holy Spirit.Carla Arges is a mental health coach, podcaster, and writer who helps Christian women navigate trauma and mental illness with grace and truth. After experiencing childhood trauma, homelessness, and a journey through misdiagnoses, Carla was accurately diagnosed with bipolar disorder and borderline personality disorder six years ago. Through partnering with the Holy Spirit, therapy, medication, and holistic healing practices, she has moved from surviving to thriving—and now equips other women to do the same.Carla is the host of the Affirming Truth podcast and a content writer for the Bible app, where she creates bite-sized, accessible devotionals for women struggling with mental health. She offers courses on nervous system regulation and biblically based boundaries, and provides one-on-one coaching to help women integrate faith, healing, and practical tools for everyday thriving. In our conversation, you'll hear:Why a diagnosis is information, not identityThe role of medication and therapy in faith-based healingHow to regulate your nervous system in practical waysWhy thriving isn't about living on the mountaintop all the timeHow God doesn't waste our pain—He redeems it for purposeConnect with Carla:Website: carlaArges.comPodcast: Affirming Truth (available on all podcast platforms and YouTube)Bible App: Search for plans by Carla ArgesLearn More about Moving Forward TogetherApply by January 23 My latest recommended ways to nourish and move your body, mind and spirit: Nourished Notes Bi-Weekly Newsletter Be Strong and Vibrant!
