Her late father, Abdul Karim, moved to Cambridge from East Pakistan (now Bangladesh) in 1957. Shahida writes historical fiction, non-fiction and children's stories; particularly focusing on and raising awareness of South Asian history and heritage. Her first novel “Lascar” was published in 2012 and “An Ayah's Choice” in 2022. “An Ayah's Choice” audio book was published in December 2022. She is currently writing her third novel. In 2015, she was awarded the Arts and Culture Awareness award at the British Muslim Awards. ‘An Ayah's Choice' recently won the Strange Inc Publisher's fiction award.Shahida is a trustee of Karim Foundation (local charity helping families in need) and the only UK female trustee at Cambridge Central Mosque. After moving to the Kansas City metro a few years ago, she began work with Columbus Park's Café Cà Phê owner, Jackie Nguyen to work toward Asian hate prevention in Kansas City. Through this, “Hella Good Deeds,” was created as a 501(c)(3) nonprofit organization. Throughout this episode, Lê Shackelford shares her journey and future hopes for the nonprofit as well as pivotal people who have inspired her along the way. Burnett and Williams additionally discuss happenings within the Missouri State House in Jefferson city — including government finances and what causes or organizations some of these funds are being allocated toward. The co-hosts additionally share information on the upcoming April 8 school board election. There is a lot of other matters that's wrong with the so-call black community and that is all we got to fight about?  Damn, seem like brother Malcolm X was righ,t we sick boss we sick !!!! Who really give a damn a about who did what first when our enemy is capitalizing off of all of our stuff ? History is important but your right now is your first priority. We have to remember that while we are studying our past or history we are also making history as well. So let's put an end to the  conscious diss rapping and let's get our house in order. Now if you ain't going to debate or go at this beast than you need to sit your ass down. PEACE
