Durante la que se suponía una de las etapas más satisfactorias de su vida, un joven David del Rosario nadaba en el descontento: “Sentía una sensación de vacío insoportable”. Pero las herramientas del método científico -las mismas que le habían hecho alcanzar la cima de su carrera y el fondo de su experiencia vital-  le ayudaron a encontrar el origen de su desasosiego. Así es como enarboló el ámbito del que es pionero: la neurociencia aplicada en el día a día. David del Rosario estudió Ingeniería Técnica en Telecomunicaciones en la Universidad de Alicante y un Máster en Ingeniería Biomédica en la Universidad de Barcelona. En su afán por conocer el cerebro humano colabora con universidades e instituciones internacionales y lidera el experimento mundial ‘How the world feels'. Su trabajo le ha valido numerosos reconocimientos como el premio de la Comunidad Valenciana o el prestigioso  premio Nacional de Telecomunicaciones. Es autor del superventas ‘El libro que tu cerebro no quiere leer' y ha coescrito ‘La biología del presente'. En sus investigaciones analiza las redes que tejen el miedo, la confianza y navega por los secretos del pensamiento para hacer que la ciencia nos ayude en lo cotidiano. “Nos encontramos un reto: dejar únicamente de pensar la vida y comenzar a vivirla”, concluye en 'Aprendemos juntos'.

¿Realmente sabemos cómo funciona nuestro cerebro? Existen teorías milenarias que nos hablan de los pensamientos como una propuesta de nuestro cerebro que tienen la capacidad de generar en cada uno de nosotros una emoción, y que su función última es servirnos como referencia para vivir el momento presente. De la misma manera, nos hablan de que tenemos la capacidad el ser humano (Homo Sapiens Sapiens) de ser consciente de aquello que sentimos y valorar si realmente nos es útil y nos ayuda para conducirnos en cada momento de nuestra vida. Teorías y disciplinas como el budismo, el taoísmo, el hinduismo o el estoicismo ya abordaban esta cuestión, sin embargo, no hemos integrado ese conocimiento 2500 años después. Hoy, la neurociencia y todos los avances tecnológicos permiten investigar todo este conocimiento en un laboratorio y curiosamente, los resultados amparan gran parte de lo expuesto por aquellos pensadores. Uno de los equipos referentes en España que se dedican a investigar el funcionamiento del cerebro es el equipo dirigido por David del Rosario, ingeniero de telecomunicaciones, experto en biomedicina y autor de libros como “El libro que tu cerebro no quiere leer” o “Biología del presente” en compañía de Sergi Torres. En este episodio cuento con el honor de poder charlar con David para que nos cuente los últimos resultados obtenidos por su equipo en relación al funcionamiento de nuestro cerebro y cómo eso nos puede ayudar a las madres y padres de alto rendimiento a seguir entrenando en nuestra tarea de crianza. Nos explica de manera muy fácil y comprensible cómo nuestro cerebro pretende servirnos en nuestra relación con los demás y con el entorno, aunque no hemos terminado de entender realmente su propio mecanismo, eso hace que, siguiendo sus palabras, sea necesario darle la vuelta a la tortilla porque se nos está quemando por un lado y está cruda por el otro. Insiste en la importancia de vivir cada una de las experiencias con nuestros hijos, sintiendo y atendiendo a nuestras emociones y no tanto pensándolas. Al mismo tiempo nos describe cómo solemos educar desde emociones desagradables como el miedo en lugar de conectar con la confianza.
