John and Craig welcome back Liz Alper (Day of the Dead, The Rookie) and Brittani Nichols (Abbott Elementary, A Black Lady Sketch Show) to discuss how much progress has been made on issues from #MeToo, #PayUpHollywood, and depictions of police on screen. We look at common threads between the movements, and the difficulty of maintaining momentum once the initial impetus has passed. We also answer listener questions on how to deal with ethically complicated projects and why there's still so much copaganda on television. In our bonus segment for premium members, John tells Craig a real life fairy tale about ‘The Writer Who Left his Reps.' It's magical and full of hope. 42'01 那些期待完美受害者的人才是有病 44'10 性侵案里,取证太难了 48'30 如果你感到,你也正被同一个人骚扰,请微博联系我们 【延伸资料】 《From Aggressive Overtures to Sexual Assault: Harvey Weinstein's Accusers Tell Their Stories》By Ronan Farrow 纽约客报道 《Know My name》Chanel Miller 《黑箱》伊藤诗织 【音乐】 《Departure》(Max Richter) 《Elephant Woman》(Blonde Redhead) 【logo设计】刘刘(ins: imjanuary) 【后期制作】Tako 【制作总监】王若弛 【收听方式】 推荐您使用「苹果播客」、Spotify、小宇宙App或任意安卓播客客户端订阅收听《不合时宜》,也可通过网易云音乐、喜马拉雅FM收听。

Chana Joffe-Walt is a producer and reporter at This American Life. Her latest story is "Five Women." “I felt like there was more to learn from these stories, more than just which men are bad and shouldn’t have the Netflix special that they wanted to have. And I was interested, also, in that there were groups of women, and that somehow, in having a group of women, you would have variation of experience. There could be a unifying person who they all experienced, but they would inevitably experience that person differently. And that would raise the question of: Why? And I feel like there is this response: ‘Why did she stay?’ Or: ‘Why didn’t she say fuck you?’ Or: ‘I wouldn’t have been upset by that. I wouldn’t have been offended by that thing.’ Which I feel like is a natural response, but also has a lack of curiosity. There are actual answers to those questions that are interesting.” Thanks to MailChimp and Credible.com. @chanajoffewalt Joffe-Walt on Longform [01:10] "Five Women" (This American Life • March 2018) [01:25] Longform Podcast #289: Liliana Segura [02:55] Joffe-Walt's Archive at This American Life [04:55] "Five Women Are Accusing A Top Left-Leaning Media Executive Of Sexually Harassing Them" (Cora Lewis • BuzzFeed • Dec 2017) [06:15] I Love Dick (Amazon Studios • 2016) [08:45] "From Aggressive Overtures to Sexual Assault: Harvey Weinstein’s Accusers Tell Their Stories" (Ronan Farrow • New Yorker • Oct 2017) [10:15] "Lupita Nyong’o: Speaking Out About Harvey Weinstein" (Lupita Nyong'o • New York Times • Oct 2017) [08:25] "Your Reckoning. Jodi Kantor is a New York Times investigative reporter and the author of The Obamas. “Being a reporter really robs you of self-consciousness and shyness. You realize that it’s this great gift of being able to ask crazy questions, either really personal or very probing or especially with a powerful — to walk up to Harvey Weinstein, essentially and say, ‘What have you been doing to women all these years, and for how long? TRIGGER WARNING: This episode includes discussion of sexual violence. Listener discretion is advised. In today's episode, Jaye frames the Harvey Weinstein sexual assault scandal and other sexual misconduct incidents currently in the news as part of a larger discussion on how we respond to oppression and violence. Why are many of us inclined to take the word of the accused if we can relate to them, or if they are powerful figures we like? At the same time, why do we hide behind “they weren't convicted” or “I wasn't there” to justify not believing the survivors? Jaye discusses the dynamic of privilege from a place of self-awareness and gives her thoughts on how we can better respond to people who share their experiences. We do “adult” differently. We are That Black Couple. Our goal is to create a space for Black millennials to discuss and embody adult life on their own terms. We aren’t beholden to “traditional” gender or parenting roles, queerness is fluid and present in the ways we show up in our relationships and in the world, and we want to build community with other 30-something Black folx who are trying to figure this ish out.
