In the heart of Chillicothe, Ohio, a 175-year-old paper mill, long considered an unofficial symbol of the community, was forced to end production in August. Once a cornerstone of the town of 22,000, demand for the specialty paper it produced steadily declined, leading to its closure. First announced in April, the shutdown affected roughly 750 employees, who were notified months in advance. As Pixelle Specialty Solutions, the plant's owner, prepared to relocate operations, workers were left facing difficult choices about their futures.

On November 10, 1984, six-year-old Bradley Eugene Gilbert was playing outside his aunt's home in Chillicothe, Texas, with his three-year-old brother Jason. By early afternoon, Jason came running back to the house crying. Bradley had told him to run. When Jason turned back, his brother was gone. The search for Bradley was immediate and massive. Hundreds of volunteers joined law enforcement, Texas Rangers, and the FBI. Flyers, bloodhounds, hypnosis sessions, and even national campaigns followed. Bradley's photo appeared on milk cartons and before movies in theaters across the country. Leads spanned from Amarillo to Florida, from New York to Oklahoma. For 141 days, Chillicothe searched and hoped. Then, in April 1985, the case changed from a missing person to the thing everyone feared: a homicide. Although she enjoyed school and generally earned good grades, academic success didn't come easily—she had to work hard to achieve it. Encouraging teachers played a significant role in her journey, and their influence, both positive and challenging, helped shape her decision to pursue a career in education. After briefly considering nursing, Kelli realized it wasn't the right path and found her calling in a Children's Literature class at Illinois Central College. From that moment on, she knew teaching was what she was meant to do. She went on to earn her degree in Elementary Education from Illinois State University in 2003. In 2006, she completed her first master's degree in Teaching and Leadership from Saint Xavier University, followed by a General Administration degree from the American College of Education in 2011. Throughout her career, Kelli has served in a variety of roles, including first grade teacher, third grade teacher, Junior High Principal, and now, MTSS Coordinator. Kelli has been married to her husband, Nick, for nearly 20 years. They have two sons: Dylan, 18, and Cooper, 13. Their family life is filled with sports—baseball, football, basketball, lacrosse, and even a little wrestling. Dylan will be heading to Florida Atlantic University in the fall to study Exercise Science, while Cooper is entering 8th grade and eagerly looking ahead to high school. Go Panthers!

For more than 200 years, Chillicothe has been home to a paper plant that now employs nearly 1000 residents. But last week, after the company that owns the plant announced it would close, the future of that plant appeared as murky as the steam that comes out of its signature red and white chimney. But state leaders brought locals some good news on Good Friday. The paper plant would stay open,at least until the end of the year. Host Jo Ingles has the details about the plant's future. Later, Reporter Sarah Donaldson and Bureau Chief Karen Kasler join Jo to talk about other stories making the news last week, including an effort to repeal a controversial new law and a court decision that put another Ohio law on hold.

Cheryl Beverly who has spent the last 20+ years helping women get out of alcohol, drugs and sex trafficking, finds a Medical Professional that was there to help her, was actually keeping the women addicted and connecting him to others he could ensnare. This is her story of finding out what he was doing, and how he put a “hit” out on her to stop her from ruining his business. Fortunately, she is ok, and he has lost his license with further consequences are pending. Praise God for his protective care of Cheryl. She had to leave the town she's lived in her whole life to start anew. Cheryl Beverly Cheryl was running a non-profit in Chillicothe, Ohio that provides transitional rehabilitation and housing for women 15 or older and their children until the events in this podcast. She offered critical help to re-establish a normal life for the women who have suffered from severe addiction.She was also using her resources to feed school children who had no lunches and supplying food to families in need in her community, with a no questions asked policy.
