Hello, and welcome to the Reloading Podcast here on the Firearms Radio Network. Tonight the gang is bringing back the cartridge corner Cartridge corner: Snider The .577 Snider (14.7×51mm) cartridge was a British black powder metallic centrefire cartridge, which fired a 0.577-inch (14.7 mm), 480-grain (31 g) lead projectile, primarily used in the Snider–Enfield rifle. Early .577 Snider cartridges were made from a composite design using paper and brass foil with a stamped metallic base and primer, much like the first generation of Martini-Henry cartridges. Later cartridges (after the design had been proved with the Martini-Henry cartridges) were made from drawn brass, much like modern small arms ammunition. The .577 Snider cartridge was eventually replaced in service by the .577/450 Martini–Henry cartridge in the 1870s. The .577 Snider cartridge is considered by most commentators to be obsolete, with large scale commercial production having ceased in the 1930s. Political Scientists Jack Greenberg (Yale University) and John Dearborn (Vanderbilt University) have a new book that focuses on the idea of presidential self-restraint and the ways in which the U.S. Congress has tried to design Executive positions with an eye towards making real this dimension of presidential norms. The concept of presidential self-restraint is a component of how the president uses his/her executive powers: that the president has a certain expanse of power and chooses, based on a variety of reasons or outcomes, to husband some of that power, or restrain its use. Because presidential self-restraint is particularly hard to divine, especially in how presidents think about the execution of their powers, Greenberg and Dearborn turned to congressional considerations that essentially take into account this idea. Congress has spent quite a lot of time over the past fifty years (since Watergate) in designing appointed positions within the Executive branch in such a way as to flesh out a kind of restraint on the president's part. In so doing, Congress has attempted different means to insulate individuals/positions from potential abuse by a president. Congressional Expectations of Presidential Self-Restraint integrates a number of case studies of congressional action on presidential appointments to examine this push and pull between the legislative and executive branches. As the issue of self-restraint has become more pressing, Greenberg and Dearborn sketch out three foundational shifts that provides the framework for the way that Congress has tried to insulate executive positions, and the ways in which Congress has acknowledged the tension around depending on presidential self-restraint. The issues of political polarization, especially as demonstrated by congressional co-partisans with the president, the Supreme Court's growing commitment to constitutional formalism and unilateralism in the Executive, and Congress's unwillingness to defend its own powers and assert those powers all contribute to this conundrum of a reliance on presidential self-restraint that is often caught up in an expansion of the use of executive powers. The case studies provided demonstrate this conundrum and help us to see just how Congress tried to structure self-restraint into a number of different appointments and how presidents have tried to work around those constraints, some more successfully than others. This is a brief but complex analysis of the current dynamic between the president and Article II powers, the U.S. Congress's evaporating powers, and the Supreme Court's complicit role in fortifying an expansive understanding of presidential power. Hello, and welcome to the Reloading Podcast here on the Firearms Radio Network. Tonight the gang is answering some more questions. Hi guys, I have listened to a lot of your shows and I have not heard you cover this. Can you point me to a show where you covered this off, or advise me? Do you know if any of the Bullet seating die manufacturers produce dies that seat the bullet using a bullet seat plug that is independent of the bullet shape? Then I would just need one bullet seating plug for each calibre I load. By that I mean it gets seated the same way you measure CBTO using an ogive comparator tool and callipers? Or is this method likely to put too much pressure on that part of the projectile and cause deformation at the base of the ogive? Or am I completely off base with this and have completely misunderstood how it all works? Thanks for any guidance you can provide. Hello, and welcome to the Reloading Podcast here on the Firearms Radio Network. Tonight the gang is taking questions from the live chat. I did some shooting last week, and was disappointed on the average Muzzle Velocity I measured. I used Hodgdon Benchmark powder on a 150gr bullet for my .308 Win. Reloading data from the website says that the max load is 43 gr. with an estimated velocity of 2,752 fps, and minimum charge 39.0gr with an estimated velocity of 2,521 fps for this bullet weight and caliber. For the reloading aspect, I annealed my brass, FL resized and bumped the shoulder .002", trimmed the brass to 2.005" and seated the bullet .020" away from JAM. I decided to come down 2gr from max but got a average of 2,010 fps, I shot 50 rounds, does anyone know what might of happen? Only thing I could think off is that i didn't take into account the COL that the manual says, Hornady manual says maximum 2.700" and hodgdon states 2.800" that's the only measure I didn't take into account since my seating depth was determined by the .020" from JAM. Hope to get some guidance and make up for the next batch. Josue from The Reloading Room on FB I just bought a french mas bolt action anyone have a good bullet powder combo? Any advice would be appreciated. Hello, and welcome to the Reloading Podcast here on the Firearms Radio Network. Tonight we grabbed a few questions from facebook to cover. Shoulder bump question. Standard procedure, take a fired case and measure it with a headspace gauge, reset calipers to zero and resize case to get your correct bump e.g. -.002. set your die and start cranking. Here is my point, that was one case out of 100, let's say that was the longest or shortest case, which could and will distort the bump for the other cases. I measured a sample of 30 cases and there was an es .0065 with the average, median and mode coming in at 1.535 (6mm creedmoor case) Is that .0065 spread something we just live with or do we need to measure a sample batch before bumping the shoulder back? Appreciate hearing what others do. Thank you Guy Is there a specific temperature your barrel heats to while shooting that it starts affecting accuracy? Jerry Woodman's question... "I have a Henry 44 mag, can't get a Keith style bullet to chamber. Kind of leery about seating any deeper, any suggestions? Hello, and welcome to the Reloading Podcast here on the Firearms Radio Network. Tonight for a change of pace, we're discussing a theoretical question, if you could only have 1 rifle in one cartridge, what would it be? It is not a SHTF scenario, and you may need to travel across state lines, so other state gun laws could apply. Handguns and shotguns are not restricted in this scenario. Jack tried everything he could to prove he wasn't an alcoholic, but all roads kept leading him back to AA. In this share, he details the seriousness of our disease and highlights the joy in living a life of freedom and peace. Sobriety Date: 9/28/2018Quotes “This disease never gets better; it only gets worse."“One drink will lead to 100.”“When I don't like who I am, I know I'm probably not working the program very well.”Referred by: Tara V. Jack, 35 tuổi, đã tham dự một số bữa tiệc vào cuối tuần ở Melbourne và quyết định kiểm tra sức khỏe tình dục sau khi nhận thấy cảm giác nhạy cảm ở trực tràng của mình. Anh cho biết trong vòng vài ngày sau khi xuất hiện các triệu chứng đầu tiên, anh được chẩn đoán mắc đậu mùa khỉ, cơn đau mà anh trải qua khiến anh phải đến khoa cấp cứu để điều trị.
What if what is most called for in order to live our lives is remembering the mystery that we each are... the essential depth that we are, which is often buried beneath layers of habit, personality patterns, the strength of our feelings, our busy-ness, our worry? But we forget, and we take ourselves to be something much smaller than we are. One way that we might begin to remember is to pay attention to that moment between sleeping and waking, before we 'put ourselves back together' and become our familiar habitual selves, when we can catch a glimpse of our essentialness... a path to recover our depth and the depth of others. Here's our source for this week: What to Remember When Waking In that first hardly noticed moment in which you wake, coming back to this life from the other more secret, moveable and frighteningly honest world where everything began, there is a small opening into the new day that closes the moment you begin your plans. What you can plan is too small for you to live. What you can live wholeheartedly will make plans enough for the vitality hidden in your sleep. To become human is to become visible while carrying what is hidden as a gift to others. To remember the other world in this world is to live in your true inheritance. You are not a troubled guest on this earth, you are not an accident amidst other accidents you were invited from another and greater night than the one from which you have just emerged. Now, looking through the slanting light of the morning window toward the mountain presence of everything that can be, what urgency calls you to your one love? What shape waits in the seed of you to grow and spread its branches against a future sky? Is it waiting in the fertile sea? In the trees beyond the house? In the life you can imagine for yourself? In the open and lovely white page on the waiting desk? by David Whyte Photo by Jack B on Unsplash

Jack B got sober in July of 1953 and he is speaking at an event called the Brownwood Retreat. I have no idea when it took place but, the majority of the recordings I have of Jack are from the mid 70's through the mid 80's, so Im guessing this is from some time in there. He was a fairly popular circuit speaker back then.
