Aalborg Universitet Institut for Psykologi.

Hello, and welcome to the Reloading Podcast here on the Firearms Radio Network. Tonight the gang is talking about moving the shoulder back on necked cartridges and why or why not it's important. We push the shoulder back on our fired cases during full length sizing. This allows the case to fit back into the chamber freely without stressing the action or causing the case to develop uneven contact points, any of this would lead to in-accuracy. Other problems that could happen is galling of the bolt lugs. How we get to pushing the shoulder back can be done in different ways. Use a Full Length Die, Next we have a Shoulder Bump Neck Size die. Some Body dies will push the shoulder while not touching the neck. Neck sizing works for a limited time or until the case becomes so tight in the guns chamber that it becomes almost impossible to close the bolt. How much do we set back the shoulder? I use 0.0015” to 0.002” for bolt actions. Take a caliper and close the jaws to zero then open to 0.0015 or 0.002” you have to hold it up to the light just to see how little we are pushing back shoulders, for bolt guns. Single shots need the full 0.002” to 0.0025” or 0.003” with falling block action not having much camming power. Lastly we deal with Semi-auto actions, in some ways they have little camming power, and in other ways with bolt force (action slamming) it can force the case into the chamber. Crushing it into the chamber. So now we set the shoulder back 0.003” to 0.004”. This allows the cartridge to fit without damage to cartridge. Tracing the cultural history of play--from Fluxus to SimCity Games and gamified activities have become ubiquitous in many adults' lives, and play is widely valued for fostering creativity, community, growth, and empathy. But how did we come to our current understanding of what it means to play? The Impossible Reversal: A History of How We Play charts the transformation of notions of playfulness beginning in the second half of the twentieth century, when a legion of artists, academics, and engineers developed new ways of theorizing, structuring, and designing ludic activity. Through examples ranging from experimental Fluxus games to corporate role-playing exercises and from the Easy Bake Oven to Tetris, The Impossible Reversal presents four styles of playfulness characteristic of the "era of designed play": the impossible reversal, which puts a player in a seemingly hopeless scenario they must upend with a tiny gesture; expending the secret, which involves silly rules that gain an obscure power and require players to embrace failure; simulated freedom, a satiric criticism of the ordinary world; and oblique repetition, a way of playing that stumbles toward unimaginable outcomes through simple, meaningless, and endlessly iterated acts. A unique genealogical account of play as both concept and practice, The Impossible Reversal illuminates how playfulness became essential for understanding cultural, technical, and economic production in the United States. In this episode of The Authority Company Podcast, Joe Pardavila sits down with CEO coach, author, and longtime Vistage Master Chair Peter D. Schwartz for a conversation about leadership, growth, and what happens when success strategies stop working. Peter shares the story behind his walk on the Camino de Santiago, a 45-day pilgrimage across northern Spain, and how the journey became a mirror for his own leadership evolution. He explains the moment on the Camino that forced him to confront exhaustion, imperfection, and the limits of chasing mastery, and how that experience reshaped his view of purpose, growth, and meaning. Drawing from decades of coaching hundreds of CEOs, Peter breaks down why early success strategies often fail at higher levels of leadership, how perfection and control quietly stall organizations, and why leaders need to upgrade their internal operating system as complexity increases. The conversation explores letting go of mastery in favor of becoming a journeyman, traveling light by releasing outdated beliefs, and redefining purpose as something you practice daily. Joe and Peter also dig into the power of peer groups, why feedback is difficult but essential, what leaders protect when they resist change, and how vulnerability builds trust inside organizations. Along the way, Peter shares practical insights on clarity, difficult conversations, performance interference, and why the real work of leadership happens over time, one deliberate step at a time. This episode is for leaders, founders, and high performers who sense their old playbook no longer fits and want a more sustainable, human approach to growth.
On Today's Show: Prager explores the complex legacy of Sigmund Freud with Peter Kramer, a professor of psychiatry at Brown University. They delve into Freud's impact on modern thought, discussing his ideas on the unconscious, the Oedipus complex, and the role of sex in shaping human behavior. Sam Alito has questioned this power and now Thomas and Gorsuch are challenging its constitutionality and general legality. To be clear the UN has called doctrines, policies and practices like this, racist, scientifically false, legally invalid, morally condemnable and socially unjust. So where are Kagan, Jackson and Sotomayor?
Hello, and welcome to the Reloading Podcast here on the Firearms Radio Network. Tonight the gang is bringing back the cartridge corner Cartridge corner: Snider The .577 Snider (14.7×51mm) cartridge was a British black powder metallic centrefire cartridge, which fired a 0.577-inch (14.7 mm), 480-grain (31 g) lead projectile, primarily used in the Snider–Enfield rifle. Early .577 Snider cartridges were made from a composite design using paper and brass foil with a stamped metallic base and primer, much like the first generation of Martini-Henry cartridges. Later cartridges (after the design had been proved with the Martini-Henry cartridges) were made from drawn brass, much like modern small arms ammunition. The .577 Snider cartridge was eventually replaced in service by the .577/450 Martini–Henry cartridge in the 1870s. The .577 Snider cartridge is considered by most commentators to be obsolete, with large scale commercial production having ceased in the 1930s. Unleashing Black Power: Grassroots Organizing in Harlem and the Advent of the Long, Hot Summers (UVA Press, 2025) explores the local dynamics, national connections, and global context of the Black freedom movement in Harlem from 1954 to 1964, illuminating how activists, organizers, and ordinary people mounted their resistance to systemic racism in the Jim Crow North. The richness of Black radical thought and action in this period made Harlem a key battleground in the national civil rights movement, transformed local Black grassroots politics, and facilitated the rise of Black Power in New York City. At the same time, the city's attempts to clamp down on activists revealed the repressive nature of Northern liberalism and heralded the expansion of the carceral state. Peter Blackmer argues that this decade of confrontations between Black communities and white state power caused Harlem residents and activists to seek “new means” for achieving freedom within a city, state, and nation determined to deny it. Tracing the dual evolution of Black radicalism and white resistance, Unleashing Black Power offers a new framework for analyzing the epochal urban uprisings in the 1960s. Guest: Peter Blackmer (he/him) is an associate professor of Africology and African American Studies at Eastern Michigan University and his research and teaching explore the ways in which Black-led grassroots organizing campaigns for self-determination in the 20th and 21st Century United States have shaped local and national politics through struggles for civil rights, human rights, and political power in American cities. Host: Michael Stauch (he/him) is an associate professor of history at the University of Toledo and the author of Wildcat of the Streets: Detroit in the Age of Community Policing, published by the University of Pennsylvania Press in 2025.
