Hello, and welcome to the Reloading Podcast here on the Firearms Radio Network. Tonight the gang is answering some more questions. Hi guys, I have listened to a lot of your shows and I have not heard you cover this. Can you point me to a show where you covered this off, or advise me? Do you know if any of the Bullet seating die manufacturers produce dies that seat the bullet using a bullet seat plug that is independent of the bullet shape? Then I would just need one bullet seating plug for each calibre I load. By that I mean it gets seated the same way you measure CBTO using an ogive comparator tool and callipers? Or is this method likely to put too much pressure on that part of the projectile and cause deformation at the base of the ogive? Or am I completely off base with this and have completely misunderstood how it all works? Thanks for any guidance you can provide. Hello, and welcome to the Reloading Podcast here on the Firearms Radio Network. Tonight the gang is taking questions from the live chat. I did some shooting last week, and was disappointed on the average Muzzle Velocity I measured. I used Hodgdon Benchmark powder on a 150gr bullet for my .308 Win. Reloading data from the website says that the max load is 43 gr. with an estimated velocity of 2,752 fps, and minimum charge 39.0gr with an estimated velocity of 2,521 fps for this bullet weight and caliber. For the reloading aspect, I annealed my brass, FL resized and bumped the shoulder .002", trimmed the brass to 2.005" and seated the bullet .020" away from JAM. I decided to come down 2gr from max but got a average of 2,010 fps, I shot 50 rounds, does anyone know what might of happen? Only thing I could think off is that i didn't take into account the COL that the manual says, Hornady manual says maximum 2.700" and hodgdon states 2.800" that's the only measure I didn't take into account since my seating depth was determined by the .020" from JAM. Hope to get some guidance and make up for the next batch. Josue from The Reloading Room on FB I just bought a french mas bolt action anyone have a good bullet powder combo? Any advice would be appreciated. Hello, and welcome to the Reloading Podcast here on the Firearms Radio Network. Tonight we grabbed a few questions from facebook to cover. Shoulder bump question. Standard procedure, take a fired case and measure it with a headspace gauge, reset calipers to zero and resize case to get your correct bump e.g. -.002. set your die and start cranking. Here is my point, that was one case out of 100, let's say that was the longest or shortest case, which could and will distort the bump for the other cases. I measured a sample of 30 cases and there was an es .0065 with the average, median and mode coming in at 1.535 (6mm creedmoor case) Is that .0065 spread something we just live with or do we need to measure a sample batch before bumping the shoulder back? Appreciate hearing what others do. Thank you Guy Is there a specific temperature your barrel heats to while shooting that it starts affecting accuracy? Jerry Woodman's question... "I have a Henry 44 mag, can't get a Keith style bullet to chamber. Kind of leery about seating any deeper, any suggestions? In this episode of the Hornady Podcast, host Seth Swerczek is joined by Miles Neville and Preston Lentfer to explore the idea of running cartridges designed for the AR-15 in bolt-action rifles. The team discusses the performance benefits, technical considerations, and real-world experiences of pairing rounds like the .223 Rem and 6mm ARC with precision bolt guns. With a mix of insight and enthusiasm, they share why this pairing—although not the design intention—can deliver impressive results.

We believe these rioters in LA should be shot dead if they're throwing bricks and rocks at police and military. Shot. Dead. Not. Kidding. That'll stop this nonsense. But... who is funding these rioters (many are being paid, and paid a LOT)... we'll talk about this. And, was the Trump-Musk feud staged for political or agenda gain? It's looking more and more like exactly that. We'll talk about this and more on this week's show. We hope you'll listen in. :)
Quarter-bores like the 25-06 have spent their lives in the shadows of more popular cartridges. Cult followings of folks in the know have kept them alive — barely. Was not reaching their full potential the reason they never got to sit at the cool kid's table? Adam Wies (aka Who Tee Who on YouTube) is back on the show and we discuss a subject I know you'll enjoy: our favorite cartridges for hunting virtually any species of big game. We're play little game where Adam and I each list our favorite cartridge and bullet for hunting specific species of game ranging from coues whitetail all the way up to thick skinned species of African game like cape buffalo and elephant and almost everything in between like mule deer, elk, black bear, etc. The catch is we cannot reuse a cartridge for multiple species. Even so, our discussion provides an interesting glimpse into the thought process he and I each use for selecting cartridges and bullets for hunting different species of game. Ryan Muckenhirn brings in his .338-06 to talk all about its fantastic attributes. A cool cartridge with limited adoption by gun makers and the public alike, did this one deserve more fanfare? Or does it sit where it belongs at the bottom of the cartridge ocean? Big news, folks! Hornady just officially launched the .25 Creedmoor cartridge. And there's a good chance that the Quarter-Bore Creedmoor is the best Creedmoor of them all. This episode takes a deep dive into the tech specs of the .25 Creedmoor and how the cartridge was designed, and details new factory loads on the market. We discuss what long-range bullets are best in it, and what rifles makers are already spun up and making .25 Creedmoor guns. We compare the .25 Creedmoor to the 6.5 Creedmoor, discuss what attributes may make the .25 Creedmoor superior, and draw ballistic comparisons between the .25 and the 6.5 Creedmoor cartridges. Then, to contrast what the .25 Creedmoor is really capable of, we compare it to the .25-06. The ballistic differences may shock you—and to our surprise profoundly favor one over the other. You'll have to listen to find out which. ENJOY! FRIENDS! John Snow of Outdoor Life shares insights on modern cartridge design in this podcast interview, explaining why rounds like the 6.5 Creedmoor have a crucial edge. Sponsor: Go to BigGameHuntingPodcast.com/ebook and sign up for my free e-book on the best hunting calibers at to receive the entertaining and informative emails I send out about hunting, firearms, and ballistics every weekday. In this episode of The Big Game Hunting Podcast, host John McAdams welcomes John Snow, Outdoor Life's shooting editor, for his first appearance on the show. They discuss modern cartridge design and focus on how the polarizing 6.5 Creedmoor embodies many of these design principles and how those characteristics distinguish the 6.5 Creedmoor from similarly performing cartridges like the 260 Remington and 6.5x55 Swede. They also discuss John Snow's experiences with the cutting edge 7mm Backcountry and some of the pitfalls and potential game changing benefits of that brand new design. The big takeaway? There's a reason why cartridges like the 6.5 Creedmoor are so popular and effective and it's not limited just to Hornady's aggressive and effective marketing (though that certainly plays a part too). Please hit that "SUBSCRIBE" or "FOLLOW" button in your podcast app to receive future episodes automatically! Resources Read John's article on Outdoor Life about Modern Cartridge Design here. John Lazzeroni blazed a trail for a new generation of “Magnum Mania” with his high stepping, hard hitting, and incredibly impressive cartridges. Catchy names like .782 Warbird, .721 Firehawk, and 6.57 Scramjet denote the single premise they were built on — velocity. The numbers his cartridges attain don't lie. Tune in as Mark Boardman, Jimmy Hamilton and Ryan Muckenhirn talk all about the Lazzeroni family of cartridges and the undeniable performance they offer. As always, we want to hear your feedback!
