Breaking down the latest on the Giants' 2025 NFL Draft plans!
Send us a textThe New York Giants' offseason plans might be shifting in a surprising direction. According to ESPN's Adam Schefter, the Giants are starting to look elsewhere with their No. 3 overall pick in the 2024 NFL Draft. With growing speculation that they have their sights set on an elite non-QB prospect. Meanwhile, ESPN has floated the idea of the Giants trading down from No. 3. A proposed trade with the Carolina Panthers would send the No. 3 pick and a 2026 fifth-rounder to Carolina in exchange for the No. 8 pick, a second-round pick this year (No. 57), and a 2026 second-round pick. This trade scenario becomes even more interesting if Cam Ward and Shedeur Sanders are already off the board by the time the Giants pick, suggesting the team may prioritize adding multiple assets instead of taking a quarterback early. In roster news, the Giants have re-signed linebacker Ty Summers. At 6'1" and 241 pounds, the 29-year-old played in all 16 games last season, recording 29 tackles, one tackle for loss, and one pass deflection. His PFF grades were mixed, with a strong 78.3 run defense grade but weaker marks in coverage and pass rushing. Summers played 112 defensive snaps and was a key contributor on special teams with 272 snaps. Evan Neal's future along the Giants' offensive line remains uncertain, but GM Joe Schoen revealed that Neal is now open to the idea of moving to guard. This is a stark contrast from his strong stance in 2023 when he insisted he was an offensive tackle from birth. While Schoen did not commit to a positional switch, he emphasized that Neal is willing to do whatever it takes to help the team. Another looming decision for the Giants revolves around play-calling duties. Head coach Brian Daboll has not yet determined whether he will continue calling plays in 2024. NY Post's Paul Schwartz reported that Daboll plans to evaluate the situation through spring and summer before making a final call. Co-owner John Mara previously questioned whether Daboll should relinquish play-calling duties, stating that while he wouldn't demand a change, it's a discussion that will continue. Ultimately, the choice remains in Daboll's hands, and it could have a major impact on the Giants' offensive performance next season. The Giants also have several former players currently competing in the UFL, which kicked off its season on Friday. The Arlington Renegades feature former Giants S Joe Powell and LB Tuzar Skipper. The Birmingham Stallions have multiple ex-Giants, including LB Tae Crowder and QB Case Cookus, while the D.C. Defenders boast former first-round CB Deandre Baker. Other familiar faces like Corn Elder, Deon Jackson, Quincy Roche, and Jashaun Corbin are also in the league, along with former Giants coaches like Mike Nolan and Marc Colombo. With the NFL Draft approaching, trade rumors swirling, and key roster decisions still to be made, the Giants are entering a pivotal stretch. Will they surprise everyone by passing on a quarterback at No. 3? Will Evan Neal shift to guard? And will Brian Daboll hold onto play-calling duties? Saquon Barkley is now the highest paid RB in NFL history. Jerry said every time there's Barkley news, they go right back to the Hard Knocks scene with John Mara. Jerry thinks Mara has been made fun of for that scene and doesn't deserve it. Gio thinks it makes Joe Schoen look bad, not Mara. We got into the Giants quarterback situation.
Saquon Barkley's record-breaking contract dominated the discussion, prompting reflections on John Mara's "Hard Knocks" appearance, with differing opinions on whether it reflected poorly on Mara or Joe Schoen. The Giants' quarterback strategy, including potential interest in Aaron Rodgers and rumored disinterest in Shedeur Sanders, was also a hot topic. C-Lo's update covered the Knicks' loss, LeBron James's historic scoring milestone, Rutgers' defeat, and the Islanders' victory. The hour concluded with a viral video of John Daly's unique lifestyle, showcasing his impressive golf skills while consuming vodka and cigarettes.
Hour 1 With Boomer absent, Gio and Jerry took over, discussing Jerry's return from Rutgers' crushing defeat at Purdue and the Knicks' loss to the Warriors. Speculation arose regarding Karl Anthony-Towns' absence, with Gio noting his girlfriend's "F Cancer" post. They likened the Knicks' current struggles to the Yankees' era against the Astros, and empathized with the Dallas Mavericks' misfortunes. C-Lo provided updates, highlighting the Knicks' low energy and a near-miss for Jennifer Hudson courtside. They also covered Aaron Rodgers' & the Giants, Jared Allen's Jets criticism, and a Jason Giambi home run ball auction, which sparked debate about its value and led to prank calls to Mike Francesa. Hour 2 Saquon Barkley's record-breaking contract dominated the discussion, prompting reflections on John Mara's "Hard Knocks" appearance, with differing opinions on whether it reflected poorly on Mara or Joe Schoen. Hour 3 Teams' controversial ticket price hikes after poor seasons sparked debate, with calls for discounted tickets as a remedy. Season ticket holders voiced frustrations, and dynamic pricing was criticized. C-Lo's update followed, but not before discussing his fundraising efforts for the Five Borough Bike Tour, including a bizarre slap-related idea. The Knicks' loss, Allen Lazard's potential trade, and Aaron Rodgers' Giants rumors were covered. Ochocinco's relationship advice and Dan Graziano's Rodgers take added to the discussion. The hour concluded with a humorous look at WFAN's newsroom cleanup for a visiting client, reminiscent of "Empire Records," and a mention of Celine Dion's appearance at a TGL event. Hour 4 Note: The last segment had a lot of music which streaming won't allow us to use in the podcast. So the music ain't there The hour opened with Al's unusual "GROK" therapy and Gio's mysterious text messages. A viral video featuring Jerry and Peter Schwartz discussing the new alphabet song surfaced. C-Lo's update included Howie Roseman's Super Bowl analogy, the Devils' loss, and Frank The Tank's high-pitched reaction. Mike Francesa's past pope coverage provided comedic relief, and his Jason Giambi prank call segment was highlighted as the "Moment of The Day." The show concluded with Josh Allen's bachelor party at the TGL, attended by Sam Darnold, and a reminder about the significance of the auctioned Jason Giambi home run ball.
Send us a textDrew and Rob break down all the latest New York Giants news, including draft prospects, quarterback options, and the recent NFLPA report card that ranked the franchise's facilities and team culture. They start with a deep dive into the Giants' draft strategy, discussing potential targets in the upcoming draft. The “Would You Rather?” segment puts the spotlight on some of the most intriguing college prospects, including two-way star Travis Hunter, pass rushers like Abdul Carter, and standout quarterback options like Shedeur Sanders and Cam Ward. With multiple positions of need, the Giants have several directions they could go on draft night. Quarterback remains the hottest topic, and rumors suggest that Matthew Stafford is the team's top priority at the position. ESPN's Jordan Raanan reported that the Giants are keeping a close eye on Stafford's situation with the Rams before making any major moves. But is Stafford the right answer for New York? The hosts discuss alternative QB options in another “Would You Rather?” segment, comparing names like Kirk Cousins, Russell Wilson, Justin Fields, and even current Giants quarterback Tommy DeVito. Could a young quarterback like Jaxson Dart or Cam Ward be a better long-term investment, or does New York need a veteran presence to steady the ship? The conversation then shifts to the Giants' NFLPA player report card, which revealed some concerning trends. After ranking eighth overall last year, the Giants dropped significantly in key areas. Ownership, led by John Mara, saw its grade drop from a B+ to a C+, with players ranking the team 22nd out of 32 in terms of commitment to facilities and fostering a winning culture. The treatment of families, locker room quality, and nutrition programs also received disappointing marks. However, there were bright spots, as the strength and conditioning coaches earned an A-, and Brian Daboll still has the support of most players despite some concerns about his receptiveness to feedback. On the injury front, there's good news for Giants fans. Dexter Lawrence was seen competing at the Pro Bowl and appears to be in good shape. Andrew Thomas is also progressing well, with no boot on his foot and reports that he's been active in the weight room. John Michael Schmitz, Joshua Ezeudu, and other offensive linemen have been putting in work during the offseason, showing dedication to improving for next year. The show wraps up with a look at Howard Cross III, a potential Giants draft target and the son of former Giants legend Howard Cross. The Notre Dame defensive lineman has deep ties to the franchise and has expressed his desire to follow in his father's footsteps. Cross embraces his underdog mentality, comparing himself to Batman—relying on film study, skill, and intelligence rather than brute strength. He believes his speed and versatility could complement a dominant force like Dexter Lawrence if given the chance to suit up in blue. With so many moving pieces this offseason, the Giants have crucial decisions to make. From potential QB acquisitions to draft-day targets, every move will shape the franchise's future. This is a free preview of a paid episode. To hear more, visit www.golongtd.comGood afternoon! Hey, New York Giants owner John Mara clearly took the advice of this independent longform site to chart his path forward into 2025. (We kid, we kid.) But yes, the Giants ultimately did decide to stick with both general manager Joe Schoen and head coach Brian Daboll as analyzed. Now, all these two must do is find a quarterback. No pressure. OK, so the Giants did not take one giant leap in ‘24 but — if we've learned anything in the NFL these last few years — it's that premium quarterback play can right your ship in a hurry. Schoen owns the No. 3 overall selection in the ‘25 draft. First up: free agency and potential trades. * Could the Giants realistically pry Super Bowl champion Matthew Stafford from the Los Angeles Rams? (Hey, it doesn't hurt to have Chad Hall on staff.) * If not, who's Plan B on the veteran market? * And then — come draft day — which passer would this franchise prefer: Miami's Cam Ward or Colorado's Shedeur Sanders? Everything in Giants Country hinges on these questions. The NFC East is absolutely loaded, too. New York better nail it. So, it's time to pod. All of the above is discussed at length with longtime Giants beat reporter Art Stapleton of NorthJersey.com. Both of us have been talking to Giants sources and try to put our heads together to figure exactly what this franchise will do at the most important position in sports. Phenomenal insight from Art. I think you'll come away from this podcast with a full understanding of where this team stands… with strong hints at what's coming next. Send us a textThe latest episode of *2 Giants Goofballs: New York Giants News & Updates* dives into a shocking prediction for the Giants' 2025 season, as Pro Football Network (PFN) ran 1,000 simulations and didn't project a single Giants win. We break down their probabilities against each opponent and whether the team can overcome the odds. The conversation then shifts to the upcoming NFL Draft, where ESPN's Matt Miller made waves by stating that no quarterback in the 2025 class has a true first-round grade. Yet, despite this, top QB prospects like Shedeur Sanders and Cam Ward are still expected to go early. With the Giants on the hunt for a franchise quarterback, how does this impact their strategy? PFN's latest mock draft for the Giants is also discussed in detail, featuring a bold pick at No. 3 overall—Colorado's Travis Hunter, a dynamic two-way player with game-breaking ability. The Giants also address needs at tight end, quarterback, and offensive line, selecting playmakers like Bowling Green's Harold Fannin Jr., Ole Miss QB Jaxson Dart, and several late-round sleepers. Boomer Esiason adds his perspective on the Giants' potential pursuit of Matthew Stafford, questioning whether paying a 37-year-old QB upwards of $40 million per year is a smart move. Meanwhile, Giants co-owner John Mara and GM Joe Schoen have made it clear that finding a long-term quarterback remains the franchise's top priority. The episode also covers the firing of defensive backs coach Jerome Henderson and whether it was connected to Deonte Banks' struggles. NFL analyst Gennaro Felice gives Schoen credit for the Giants' 2024 draft class, especially the selection of Malik Nabers, who had an electric rookie season. Other key topics include speculation on kicker Graham Gano's future with the team, assistant GM Brandon Brown's job security, and Mara's reaction to banner planes flown by frustrated Giants fans calling for front-office changes.
