Day 5 of spring camp was almost perfect weather-wise. The sun was out and the energy level was up there as well with the team in full pads again. Another physical practice with a lot of fundamentals and an emphasis on doing it right. The weather was great, and the energy level was up for what felt like a full house of elite recruits from 2024, 2025, and 2026 classes. They were able to see former Trojan greats watching from the sidelines, as well as meet some influential NIL people who were also at practice. The Trojans were in full pads for their 3rd spring practice session and I was there to witness the day. I have my own perspective on the players with the off-season weight gains. It almost felt like I was there. Lincoln Riley held a 30-minute ZOOM session with the media Tuesday morning following the team's 2nd practice. They have session No. 3 Wednesday afternoon before they're released for spring break. The team will resume camp on March 21st. When it was my turn to ask Lincoln why he explained his rationale for giving the guys time off after just three practices. Riley was quick to assure the media that the defense is going to be good and very soon.--Lincoln also told the media that during the offseason other programs inquired with him about his assistant coaches for other opportunities. The mystery as to why Eric Gentry waited to have his surgery was explained, and in Riley's opinion, it is in Gentry's best interest to see camp from the sidelines.
