Both the Alabama Crimson Tide and the Auburn Tigers got great basketball news Wednesday. Auburn Basketball star Tahaad Pettiford officially removed his name from the NBA Draft around 2:00, just hours before the deadline. He will come back to Bruce Pearl’s rebuilt Auburn squad. Alabama’s Labaron Philon surprised many with his 11th hour announcement that he was leaving the NBA Draft and returning to Tuscaloosa for another season. Nate Oats has rebuilt his roster, as well, and Philon is a massive final piece. As Pettiford returns to Auburn, is he a no doubt All-SEC player? Can he work his way into the Draft Lottery? How shocking was the Philon return? Can Alabama win the SEC with this roster? The SEC Meetings are winding down in Destin. Alabama Crimson Tide coach Kalen DeBoer, Georgia Bulldogs coach Kirby Smart and Ole Miss Rebels coach Lane Kiffin all spoke out about the College Football Playoffs, as did SEC Commissioner Greg Sankey. What the Alabama Football, Georgia Football and Ole Miss Football coaches had to say about the system and what irritates the Commish. The SEC coaches want to play the Big Ten annually, several speak out at the SEC Meetings. What would that do for schedules like the South Carolina Gamecocks who already have and ACC team as a rival? Also, Georgia Football coach Kirby Smart lets us behind the curtain on what is the latest tactic among college football programs in recruiting and what it takes to get a commit. Our Champions Boxing 40-in-40 hits number 29 with Big 12 team the TCU Horned Frogs. Will TCU Football be more 2023 or 2024? Just how good can the Frogs be? Big 12 commissioner Brett Yourmark says his ADs are in line with the 5-11 Playoff model starting in 2026. The best thing Tom Brady has done since he left the NFL. Chris Lee and Alfred Ezman preview the Hattiesburg Regional in the 2025 NCAA Baseball Tournament, which features Southern Miss, Alabama, Miami (Florida) and Columbia. Southern Miss has one of the best pitchers in the country (and a potential Major League starter) in ace JB Middleton, as well as a bevy of other talented arms in closer Colby Allen and Matt Adams. The Golden Eagles bashed 97 home runs, 19 coming from Sun Belt Player of the Year Nick Monistere as well as 17 from first baseman Matthew Russo and 15 from right fielder Carson Paetow. It's a complete team that'll be a tough out in its own regional. But Alabama has big-time talent, too, in potential 2025 first-round righty Riley Quick, another talented starter in lefty Zane Adams and a good back-end-of-the-bullpen in closer Carson Ozmer and Braylon Myers. The Crimson Tide also feature shortstop Justin Lebron (the potential first pick in the 2026 draft) and All-SEC left fielder Kade Snell, plus, a Miami transfer in third baseman Jason Torres. The Crimson Tide had host-worthy metrics and now get the opportunity to prove they were snubbed as a host. Miami got 16 home runs from third baseman Daniel Cuvet throughout a balanced lineup. The Hurricanes' fate could rest on the shoulders of starters Griffin Hugus and AJ Ciscar, who could pitch the opening two games. Columbia put up big offensive numbers, slugging .508 as a team with Sam Miller (16 home runs) and Anton Lazits (12) leading the way. But the Lions struggled on the mound and will need great efforts from starting pitchers Joe Sheets and Thomas Santana to get out of the regional.

Skyler Tengan from Damien Baseball joins the show to talk about his Monarchs and how he's got to this point in his career, and he's looking up at any programs.
Florida received huge news on Tuesday when All-SEC big man Alex Condon announced he would return to play for the Gators in 2025-26. What makes Condon, who posted 7 double doubles in 2025-26 and made the final winning play in the national championship game win over Houston, so special?Neil W. Blackmon (Saturday Down South) dives into that question, why Condon's the glue guy for the Gators, and how the big man can improve as a junior.Plus, thoughts on Todd Golden's roster building prowess and Florida's chance to return to the FInal Four in 2025-26. Send us a textIn this action-packed episode of "2 Giants Goofballs: New York Giants News & Updates," Drew and Rob take an in-depth look at the top linebacker and safety prospects for the 2025 NFL Draft. With the Giants continuing their pursuit of improving their defensive lineup, this episode breaks down the standout players who could be key contributors to NFL teams in the near future—and some of them could potentially find themselves donning a Giants uniform. From Georgia's elite prospects to Alabama's top talent, we dive into the skills, stats, and future potential of these players. The linebacker class for the 2025 draft is loaded with talent, and Jalon Walker out of Georgia is one of the players at the top of the list. Standing at 6'2” and 245 pounds, Walker is a force on the field. In 2024, he recorded 60 tackles, 11 tackles for loss, and 6.5 sacks, earning him a Butkus Award nomination and first-team All-American honors. His versatility and high football IQ make him a standout prospect for teams looking to beef up their linebacker corps. Alongside him, we take a closer look at other top linebackers, including Jihaad Campbell from Alabama. Campbell, with his impressive 117 tackles and 5 sacks in the 2024 season, is a powerful presence in the middle of the defense and a player to keep an eye on. Demetrius Knight Jr. from South Carolina also stands out, with his remarkable performance earning him an 82.8 PFF grade and over 80 tackles in 2024.Shifting focus to the safety position, Drew and Rob delve into some of the most intriguing defensive backs in the 2025 draft class. Malaki Starks from Georgia is a standout, showcasing elite talent with 77 tackles in 2024 and earning first-team All-SEC honors. His ability to cover ground quickly and his solid ball skills make him a top safety prospect. Nick Emmanwori from South Carolina is another player who could make waves in the NFL. His physicality, combined with 88 tackles and 4 interceptions in 2024, makes him a promising prospect. We also discuss Xavier Watts from Notre Dame, who had a phenomenal 2024 season with 6 interceptions, earning him Unanimous All-American recognition. His ability to make plays on the ball and his versatile coverage skills set him apart. The safety class doesn't stop there, as we also analyze players like Andrew Mukuba from Clemson, who has shown great promise with 5 interceptions and 90.0 PFF grade in 2024. His consistent ability to disrupt the passing game and his strong performances on the field could make him a top choice for NFL teams looking for a ball-hawking safety. As Drew and Rob break down each player's strengths, weaknesses, and overall potential, they also examine how these players could fit into the NFL, including which teams might be interested in adding them to their rosters. Whether it's bolstering a defense or adding depth to a secondary, these top prospects could be the future stars of the NFL.This episode is packed with valuable insights for any Giants fan looking ahead to the 2025 NFL Draft. With so many talented linebackers and safeties on the horizon, the potential for great defensive players to make an impact in the league is higher than ever. #giants #nfl #nfldraftSupport the showAll Episodes are shot LIVE with fan interactions on Youtube, Facebook, Twitter, & TwitchSponsor the show at: https://www.buymeacoffee.com/2giantgoofballsInterested in starting a podcast. Send us a textIn this full episode of *2 Giants Goofballs: New York Giants News & Updates*, Drew and Rob dive headfirst into the trenches with a detailed breakdown of the top 15 offensive tackle prospects entering the 2025 NFL Draft. With the New York Giants continuing to build through the draft and offensive line remaining a key concern, this episode offers a comprehensive look at the prospects who could become foundational pieces for Big Blue or impact the league at large. Whether you're a diehard Giants fan, a draft enthusiast, or simply love trench warfare in football, this episode has something for you.The duo starts with Armand Membou of Missouri, an agile and athletic tackle who played nearly every snap at right tackle, showcasing his All-SEC talent despite some concerns with long-arm rushers. Kelvin Banks Jr. from Texas is another standout, a three-year starter with an impressive trophy case and consistent performance at left tackle. LSU's Will Campbell brings SEC grit, smart play, and next-level footwork, although his shorter arms might translate better to guard in the pros.Josh Simmons, a top-tier pass protector from Ohio State, has raw potential with elite upside, while Grey Zabel out of South Dakota State demonstrates remarkable positional versatility across the line. Minnesota's Aireontae Ersery, another three-year starter, boasts elite strength and arm length, standing tall as a first-round-worthy left tackle.Oregon's Josh Conerly Jr. impresses with his athleticism and background as a former running back, though scouts note balance issues. Ohio State's Donovan Jackson stepped in at left tackle after Simmons' injury but might project better as a guard due to athletic limitations in space. Meanwhile, Wyatt Milum of West Virginia brings the lunch-pail mentality with four years of LT experience and a dominant 2024 season. The analysis continues with Jonah Savaiinaea from Arizona, a big-bodied lineman who may move inside, and Marcus Mbow of Purdue, a powerful presence with aggressive hands but room to grow against stutter-step pass rushers. Texas's Cameron Williams has the raw tools and strength but struggles with speed and technique.Boston College's Ozzy Trapilo, a massive 6'8” presence, displays football IQ and fiery play, but must improve pad level and hand placement. William & Mary's Charles Grant could be this year's sleeper, showcasing NFL-level traits despite a small school résumé. Lastly, Anthony Belton from NC State has the size and physicality but must overcome footwork issues and character concerns after a controversial on-field incident. This deep-dive episode is packed with scouting insights, positional fit discussion, and potential draft positioning. Whether the Giants are targeting a day-one starter or looking for value on day two or three, this offensive tackle class presents a variety of options. Georgia visits Texas at 6:30 Central on ABC in one of the most anticipated games of the college football season, and Chase Robinson and Chris Lee break down the matchup. Topics include: Georgia's Carson Beck has been more interception-prone this year. Suspensions and dismissals (the latest being Colbie Young) have impacted Georgia's receiving room. The Bulldogs have also been playing without All-SEC offensive lineman Tate Ratledge. Texas's defense, with playmakers like Trey Moore, Ethan Burke, Barry Sorrell, Anthony Hill, Malik Muhammad and Andrew Mukubka, is deep, talented and productive. The Longhorns have America's best quarterback room with Quinn Ewers and Arch Manning. Texas also has three quality running backs in Tre Wisner, Jaydon Blue and Jerrick Gibson to run behind All-American left tackle Kelvin Banks Jr. The Longhorns also have tons of receiving weapons in Isaiah Bond, Matthew Golden, Ryan Wingo, Gunnar Helm and others. Can Georgia's defense, led by a collection of elite talents like Malaki Starks, return to form after a slippage that started with the Alabama loss? Chase Robinson and Chris Lee preview and share their predictions for Arkansas's road trip to Auburn in Week 4 of the 2024 college football season. Topics include: Arkansas quarterback Taylen Green struggled against UAB but his dual-threat ability has given opponents trouble. Arkansas running back Ja'Quinden Jackson has been one of the SEC's best. The Razorbacks have a host of targets that include Andrew Armstrong, Tyrone Borden, Luke Hasz and others. Auburn's defense is keyed by Jerrin Thompson, Jalen McLeod, Kayin Lee and others. Auburn replaced starting quarterback Peyton Thorne with Hank Brown, who played the entire time in throwing four touchdowns and no picks in a win over New Mexico. The Tigers' best chance for success is All-SEC running back Jarquez Hunter, but he'll be matched against a stiff Arkansas front led by preseason All-SEC pick Landon Jackson. Arkansas missed Hudson Clark for most of the last two games but Doneiko Slaugher has been productive at safety in the meantime. The Hawks are big across the front with Eric Gregory, Cam Ball and others. Gabe Ikard and Teddy Lehman answer the following listener questions about OU football heading into the 2024 season: @SoonerVirginia- What are you guys thinking for the linebacker rotation alongside Stutsman? Does someone besides Kip Lewis rise up and take snaps? If so, how many guys get significant field time at the Mike? Also, has the room progressed to the point where we can spell Danny when needed? Gary O'Mealey- Other than Jackson Arnold, Danny Stutsman, and Billy Bowman, which OU player showing up on the post-season All-SEC team would be the best indicator of OU having had an excellent season? @bhalaajee- Which conference game will we lose that we should win? Which game will we win that we should lose? Austin Nunn- Peyton Bowen or Robert Spears Jennings? Or will Venables find a way to get both on the field at the same time alongside Billy? Wishbone Willy- How fast do you think the offense will go this year? IMO the offense the last few years have been like a Ferrari with one speed. Will there be more nuance to the hurry up under Littrell? Phil Lawson Which player has markedly taken the biggest step forward towards reaching their full potential over the summer and thus far into fall camp? 1 for O and 1 for D Percent of plays the O will use a traditional TE? Will we use any 2-back sets? @SoonerGnome17- There was a lot of loud doubt heading into BV's first season. Fans rejected that, but found it justified at the end of the season. Texas A&M added to a wide receiver room that included Noah Thomas and Moose Muhammad III with Cyrus Allen (Louisiana Tech) and Jabre Barber (Troy). The Aggies get back tight end Donovan Green (who missed all last year) and added Fresno State tight end Tre Watson. Texas A&M has a pair of all-star candidates in left tackle Trey Zuhn III and Chase Bisontis (left guard) and also adds a pair of key transfers on the right side in Kolinu'u Fauulu and Ar'maj Adams (Utah and Kansas). Texas A&M has a fantastic defensive line, starting with Nic Scourton (Purdue transfer) and Shemar Turner. The Aggies added a pair of Florida transfers in Scooby Williams and Jaydon Hill. Chase Robinson and Chris Lee preview the South Carolina football roster for the 2024 season and share their predictions for the Gamecocks. Topics include: The Gamecocks have a new quarterback in LaNorris Sellers, who brings size and mobility. Carolina's had trouble running the ball in recent years, but Arkansas transfer Rocket Sanders and North Texas's Oscar Addaway brighten the outlook considerably. Transfers also headline a revamped wide-receiver room which includes Gage Larvadian (Miami-Ohio), Jared Brown (Coastal Carolina), Amari Huggins-Bruce (Louisville) and Dalevon Campbell (Nevada), but the headliner is sophomore Nyck Harber, who hopes to turn his world-class speed into football success. The Gamecocks return plenty of experience on the offensive line, headed by All-Southeastern Conference candidate Vershon Lee and left tackle Tree Babalade, plus, returning starter Trovon Baugh and Florida Atlantic transfer Kamaar Bell. Coordinator Clayton White builds his defense around a solid unit that includes All-SEC candidates Tonka Hemingway, Debo Williams and Nick Emmanwori. Gilber Edmond returns from Florida State back to Columbia and is joined by plenty of depth, including portal pieces Kyle Kennard (Georgia Tech) and DeAndre Jules (Pitt). Bangally Kamara also transfers from Pitt to help a linebacking group that includes returnee Bam Martin-Scott. The Gamecocks build the secondary around one of the biggest and most physical safety tandems out there: DQ Smith and Emmanwori--but also get a boost from the return of 10-game starter O'Donnell Fortune at corner. Plus, Carolina has punter/passer extraordinaire Kal Kroeger back for another year. The Gamecocks have enough talent to go bowling, but will a schedule that includes LSU, Ole Miss, Alabama, Oklahoma, Texas A&M, Missouri and Clemson permit it?
