Plus, Greg Auman joins the show to talk Bucs football, while Sam also dives into the Tampa Bay Rays' inconsistency, reacts to the Tampa Bay Lightning trading Darren Raddysh, and discusses the United States men's national soccer team ahead of the 2026 FIFA World Cup.
Sam Cohen discusses Vita Vea's contract situation, what he's worth to the Tampa Bay Buccaneers, and why he's holding in during minicamp.
Greg Auman of FOX Sports joins Sam Cohen to discuss the Tampa Bay Buccaneers' newest additions, the contract situation surrounding Vita Vea, and expectations for Tampa Bay heading into the 2026 season.
Everyone is talking about when Baker Mayfield will sign his next deal with the Tampa Bay Buccaneers—but he's not the only Buccaneer seeking more money before the 2026 season begins. The contract situation surrounding Vita Vea just became one of the biggest storylines in Tampa Bay. The two-time Pro Bowler is entering the final year of his current deal and is reportedly holding in as he pushes for a new contract. And after recent deals around the NFL, the defensive tackle market has shifted dramatically. Jordan Davis is now making $26 million annually. Then Jeffery Simmons completely reset the market with a massive extension from the Tennessee Titans worth roughly $33 million per year. So where does Vita Vea fit? Chris Mathis breaks down why Vea absolutely deserves a raise, why he's still one of the most important players in Todd Bowles' defense, and why trading him makes little sense for Tampa Bay. At the same time, Chris explains why Vea isn't in the same tier as Simmons—and why the Buccaneers must carefully balance rewarding a cornerstone player without overcommitting long-term. What is Vita Vea really worth? $22 million per year? $24 million? $25 million? That's the question facing Tampa Bay. And with training camp approaching, the pressure to find an answer is only growing.
MetLife Stadium may still make money, but the latest World Cup pitch complaints raise a bigger problem for Giants fans: is the home field becoming an embarrassment the team cannot ignore? Follow on Spotify and leave a 5-star rating on Apple Podcasts if you enjoy no-BS Giants debate. The Big Question: Is MetLife Stadium a real Giants problem or just an overblown player complaint? The answer is probably both: FIFA may say the field is playable, but when World Cup players, NFL players, and Giants fans all keep circling the same stadium complaints, the issue becomes bigger than one surface.Drew and Rob spend the first half of the show on MetLife after Adrien Rabiot and Vinicius Junior criticized the pitch and FIFA defended the stadium conditions. The conversation quickly moves beyond grass vs. turf into the broader problem: the NFLPA's F- field grade, the bland fan experience, the stadium's lack of identity, and why Giants fans still compare it unfavorably to old Giants Stadium. The second half shifts into roster construction. The Giants are getting heavier under John Harbaugh, and the hosts debate whether that means the team is finally building a more physical identity or just changing the average because of roster churn.Paulson Adebo also gets a spotlight after strong spring reports. The debate is not whether Adebo has talent — it is whether he can actually become the CB1-level player the Giants need after last year's injury comeback season. The final stretch hits two roster ideas: Najee Harris as a possible Devin Singletary replacement and Vita Vea as a defensive tackle name to monitor if Tampa Bay's contract situation gets worse. The hosts are clear that Vea is not a Giants trade story yet, but the Kayvon Thibodeaux angle makes the hypothetical hard to ignore.Merch: https://2giantgoofballs-shop.fourthwall.com/Support: https://buymeacoffee.com/2giantgoofballsAll episodes: https://2giantgoofballs.buzzsprout.com/Send us Fan MailSupport the show
Nick Wize opens this hour by tackling one of the biggest decisions facing the Buccaneers front office: what should Tampa Bay do with Vita Vea? Nick breaks down two very different paths for the franchise. One option involves trading the All-Pro defensive tackle while he still has significant value, potentially bringing back a third-round pick and additional compensation. The other involves rewarding one of the team's most important players with a lucrative extension that could help keep the Bucs in playoff contention now, but create financial headaches down the road. Which path gives Tampa Bay the best chance to win both today and tomorrow?
On this packed edition of The Nick Wize Show on 95.7 FM WDAE, Nick dives headfirst into the ultimate Tampa Bay Buccaneers dilemma: what do you do with Vita Vea? The Vea Drama: Nick breaks down the financial realities of either trading the defensive anchor (looking for a 2nd-Round Pick) or extending him. Extending him, keeps the Bucs in the playoff hunt now but it could turn out to be an overpay by the end of the deal. Nick responds to the "Hold In" rumors, takes your phone calls, and explains why he wants to keep Vea in Tampa—even if fans are begging for a hard rebuild reset. Can We Admit...?: Producer Tim puts Nick on the hot seat with rapid-fire questions uncovering the hard truths about the Tampa Bay Rays' recent skid, Team USA's World Cup outlook, and the Bucs' true celling. The CFB Hall of Fame Ballot: Nick and Tim sort through a list of legendary college football players to build their definitive ballots. Did they agree? Where did they disagree & why? World Cup Ticket Game: Rock Riley, Chris Mathis, and producer Tim face off in a hilarious, high-stakes game of The Price Is Right: World Cup Ticket Edition to see who can guess the cheapest seats on the market.
After laying out potential trade scenarios involving Vita Vea earlier in the show, Nick Wize opens the phone lines and discovers Buccaneers fans are split on the future of the star defensive tackle. Some callers see a trade as the first step toward a necessary roster reset, while others believe moving Vea would be a major mistake for a team still capable of winning now. Nick shares why he's firmly in the camp of keeping Vea in Tampa, while also acknowledging that many fans appear ready to hit the reset button sooner rather than later.
The future of Vita Vea may ultimately determine the future direction of the Buccaneers. Nick Wize kicks off the show by presenting two compelling scenarios: cashing in on Vea's trade value while there's still a market, or signing him to an extension that keeps the Bucs firmly in the playoff hunt. Nick weighs the risks and rewards of each strategy, discussing whether Tampa Bay should prioritize maximizing its current Super Bowl window or protecting itself from a potentially costly contract that could become difficult to justify in a few years.

This episode featured everything that makes Tampa Bay sports radio great: strong opinions, spirited debate, and passionate fan interaction. Nick Wize challenged Vita Vea's contract stance, defended Baker Mayfield's leadership, questioned the reaction to Lavonte David's comments, and offered a measured evaluation of the Rays after their loss to the Dodgers. The show also featured a SEC football win total challenge and a lively debate about whether Brendan Sorsby could be a worthwhile addition to the Buccaneers through the supplemental draft. Throughout the program, listeners helped shape the conversation with calls and texts that kept the debates going from start to finish.
Nick Wize opens the show with a fiery take on Vita Vea's decision to hold in during Buccaneers minicamp. While Vea is entering the final year of a massive four-year, $71 million contract, Nick argues that players should honor the agreements they signed. Is it fair for a player to seek more money before fulfilling the final year of a deal? Nick explains why he believes contracts should work both ways and why this trend continues to frustrate fans.
The Rays are back and is it time to panic, is Bakers contract going to be an issue moving forward, and Vita Vea may hold out?

Brock and Salk share some laughs about the very long Mike Macdonald pause during their conversation yesterday and compare it to the pause in their interview from a couple of years ago with former UW defensive tackle Vita Vea. They then dive further in to Sam darnold, and the idea of viewing him more as a football player rather than a quarterback specifically. In Blue 88, Brock takeas a look at some of the attitude that Mike Macdonald has learned from John Schneider, what led to the end of Pete Carroll's time with the Raiders and which head coaching job would be most enticing for Klint Kubiak.
In today's press conference we take a comment on the Bucs chances against the Rams on Sunday, Vita Vea's play recently and Mike Norvell's job security at FSU.
Detroit Lions Podcast: Defense, Depth, and a Dominant Bye Week The Detroit Lions enter their bye week at 5-2 after handling the Tampa Bay Buccaneers under the Monday night lights. In this week's episode of Bischoff and Brown, the focus shifts from celebration to evaluation. The hosts dive deep into how the Lions' defense, led by coordinator Kelvin Shepherd, delivered a statement performance despite missing key starters. The show also unpacks Jared Goff's uneven night, the continued emergence of Alim McNeil, and how role players like Nick Whiteside stepped into the spotlight when Detroit needed them most. Kelvin Shepherd's Defense Takes Center Stage The Lions' 24-9 win over the Tampa Bay Buccaneers was built on defensive discipline and depth. With their top four defensive backs sidelined, Kelvin Shepherd and his unit produced one of the best defensive showings of the NFL season. The secondary, jokingly dubbed “The Legion of Whom,” held Baker Mayfield to under 200 passing yards and a season-low quarterback rating. Shepherd's mix of disguised pressures, rotating coverages, and aggressive gap fits completely neutralized Tampa Bay's offense. The defensive line dominated from the opening whistle. Alim McNeil, back from injury, made an immediate impact, collapsing the pocket from the interior and freeing up Aidan Hutchinson and the edge defenders to generate consistent pressure. McNeil's ability to anchor against the run and push through double teams allowed Detroit's blitz packages to hit home. Depth players like Nick Whiteside and Eric Hallett showed they belong, filling in for injured starters and playing with energy and precision. The hosts emphasize how different this defense looks under Shepherd compared to past seasons. The scheme is flexible, personnel-driven, and rooted in teaching—something the Lions lacked in earlier iterations. If Detroit can maintain this defensive identity while regaining key contributors like Brian Branch and Terrion Arnold after the bye, it could cement them as one of the NFC's most complete teams. Jared Goff and the Offense Search for Balance While the defense carried the night, the offense had its share of uneven moments. Jared Goff faced relentless interior pressure from Vita Vea and struggled to find rhythm early, finishing with modest numbers by his own high standards. Offensive coordinator John Morton's play calling drew mixed reviews, particularly on third downs, where Detroit remains 0-for-20 this season on third-and-10 or longer. Still, when the Lions needed a spark, they got it from Jahmyr Gibbs, whose 78-yard touchdown run broke the game open. The hosts agree that while the offense isn't firing on all cylinders, Goff's efficiency and composure remain constants. The bye week should give Detroit time to refine its protection schemes, redistribute touches, and reintegrate playmakers like Jameson Williams and David Montgomery into the rhythm of the attack. The episode closes with optimism. The Lions enter their bye with confidence, balance, and a clear identity. With Kelvin Shepherd's defense ascending, Alim McNeil healthy, and Jared Goff in command of a veteran offense, Detroit is positioned not just for a playoff run—but for sustained success down the stretch of the NFL season. https://youtu.be/QoEvNxtcPsU Get yourself a Classic Detroit t-shirt here! http://shirt.detroitlionspodcast.com Don't miss our great merch selection in the Detroit Lions Podcast store. First, whatever Baker…. Now, moving on.It's been a while since our Boys in Black & Gold have been 1-6. Kinda reminds us of old times…But, we know what this year is, so question is: Will we see our Saints bounce back and at least perform better this week than last? Obviously, we want the W, but an upset/win would be lagniappe at this point. We get into what we want to see in this one and what we think we'll actually see.The McCoy injury, for one, is scary - add Vita Vea literally on top of that injured spot, and man, can already feel the involuntary cringe. BUT, they're banged up too, right??EITHER WAY, we have some young guns that can build on promising starts, and we get a chance to see if Rattler can answer the bell or if we get closer to Shough-ing oysters. Also, of course, Corey has a LOCK that the guys actually feel good about. (Yes, we have said that before…) We've asked it every week now it seems like, but…”COULD THIS BE THE WEEK?!” (Also, controversy brews over the parameters of his Labubu requirements. Serious stuff).TUNE IN! WHO DAT?!#28to3 #28to3Podcast #NeverForget #NewOrleans #NewOrleansSaints #NFL #NOLA #Saints #WhoDat #WhoDatNation

Could Nick Emmanwori be ready to go on Sunday and how big of a factor will he be in his first game? :30- The Mariners are scrimmaging today and tomorrow and they aren't the only ones, Philadelphia and Milwaukee will do it as well. Do we have any concerns with the inter-squad games? :45- It's time to get Reckless at Breakfast! Selecting the right starter for game 1 is a BIG decision and with limited information on Bryan Woo's injury, should Logan Gilbert get the start on Saturday? Keep in mind, your game 1 starter would pitch again if a game 5 was necessary… Luis Castillo has been notably better at home than on the road, so should he start game 2? His lefty/righty splits are far more exaggerated and that should be a concern because all of our guys are better at home than on the road. See omnystudio.com/listener for privacy information.
