Detroit Lions Podcast: Pressure Rising and Identity on the Line The Detroit Lions return to Ford Field this weekend in what feels like a must win against the New York Giants. Coming off a deflating loss to the Philadelphia Eagles, Detroit cannot afford another slip. In the newest episode of Risdon Reviews the Lions after Philly, the tone shifts from frustration to urgency. The show lays out exactly what went wrong in Philadelphia, what must change fast, and why this match-up with New York may define the trajectory of the season. Offensive Line Problems, Goff's Struggles, and the Blueprint Against Detroit The Lions enter Week 11 with an offense that has been exposed in consecutive losses. Defenses have figured out the formula. The NFL is a copycat league, and the Vikings and Eagles both executed the same plan: attack the interior offensive line, compress the pocket, eliminate the shallow crossers Jared Goff depends on, and force him off rhythm. It worked in Minnesota. It worked even more effectively in Philadelphia. The interior trio of Graham Glasgow, Tate Ratledge, and Kayode Awosika was overwhelmed. The transcript makes it clear that none of them played to the level the Lions need. Ratledge looked like a rookie drowning in high level waters. Glasgow struggled with recognition, leverage, and transitions. Even Awosika, who arguably fared the best of the three, was inconsistent. The Eagles blew up the middle of the field and removed Detroit's bread and butter. The running game never found traction. Goff rarely had clean pockets or clean launch points. The result was predictable: offensive stagnation and stalled drives. What makes the situation more concerning is that Dan Campbell and offensive coordinator John Morton have not yet adapted their system to match personnel. Brock Wright was asked to be Sam LaPorta. Glasgow was treated like Frank Ragnow. Ratledge was given responsibilities better suited for a seasoned veteran. The podcast argues that Detroit must simplify. Play to strengths, not memories of players who are no longer active. The Lions need new answers, new formations, and new wrinkles before defenses bury them under predictability. A Defense Worth Believing In and a Giants Team Detroit Must Beat If there was one beacon of hope from Philadelphia, it was the Lions defense. Jack Campbell played arguably the best game of his young career, totaling fifteen tackles and blowing up multiple Eagles staples. Kelvin Shepherd's defensive front stood up to the notorious tush push, stonewalling it like no team has this season. The Lions forced the Eagles' offense into existential panic. Detroit can win big games with this defense. That is not in question. But injuries remain a hurdle. Terrion Arnold, Brian Branch, Taylor Decker, Kirby Joseph, and Penei Sewell highlight a long and critical injury list. The Giants, despite their record, have a dangerous defensive front. Dexter Lawrence, Brian Burns, and Kayvon Thibodeaux (if healthy) are capable of wrecking an unsteady interior. That makes this game a true test of whether Detroit has learned anything from the last two losses. The Lions cannot afford another misstep. Another loss tightens the playoff picture and erodes confidence. But the podcast remains optimistic. Detroit still controls its fate. Win the next two, including a Thanksgiving rematch with Green Bay, and they will be right back in the NFC North race. As Risdon says, the Lions remain capable of winning anywhere, anytime. But belief must now be paired with answers. The Giants are the moment to show they are still the hunters, not the hunted. https://youtu.be/RlijTEo16vc #LionsMustWin #ProtectGoff #FixTheInterior #ShepherdDefense #GoffAccountability #NextManUpDetroit #GiantsGamePrep #LionsInTheHunt #CampbellCulture #DetroitAdjustments Learn more about your ad choices. Send us a textGiants fans, this episode is a full ride through the chaos surrounding Big Blue right now. We start with rookie linebacker Abdul Carter getting benched for the opening drive against the Packers, the confusing reports about a missed walkthrough, and his public response taking accountability while pushing back on the narrative. We talk about what this means for the standards in the building, how young players respond to being called out, and whether this is a blip or a warning sign for a future leader on defense. From there, we shift to interim head coach Mike Kafka. He says it's “status quo” and that the staff is attacking this week with fresh ideas, but what does that really mean for his job security? We break down how the offense has looked under his direction, how he has handled Jaxson Dart, and whether he's auditioning for a full-time role or just stabilizing things until ownership makes its next big decision. We also dive into Dart's situation as he works through the protocol and is encouraged to adjust the way he runs to protect his long-term health. We compare him to other aggressive quarterbacks, discuss how much you can realistically change a young player's style, and what kind of balance the Giants need between playmaking and durability. Then it's all about the coaching carousel. Names like Matt Nagy, Arthur Smith, and Chris Shula are starting to appear as possible candidates if the Giants make another head coaching change. We walk through what each type of coach would bring to this roster, how they would mesh with stars like Malik Nabers, Andrew Thomas, Brian Burns, and Dexter Lawrence, and what kind of leader this locker room needs next. Finally, we go deep on the draft and what happens if the Giants land the second overall pick. Using trade simulations, we go through packages from teams like the Browns, Saints, Jets, Vikings, and Steelers that would allow the Giants to move down, add premium picks, and still land high-impact players. With young talent already in place, including Jaxson Dart and Cam Skattebo, we ask whether trading down for a massive haul is the smartest way to fill multiple holes and accelerate the rebuild.Thank you for listening and for supporting 2 Giants Goofballs: New York Giants News & Updates. After calling the game against the Packers, Bob Papa and Carl Banks get on the mic to discuss yet another fourth-quarter collapse. Carl emphasizes the resilience of the offense, which has consistently managed to give the team a chance despite missing key players. However, once again, the defense falters. They analyze specific plays, identify bad habits, and highlight poor techniques that continue to plague the team. They discuss what responsibilities fall on the coaches, what falls on the players, and pose a critical question: Do opposing teams even respect this team at this point Hosted by Simplecast, an AdsWizz company. The San Francisco 49ers (5-3) head into Week 9 facing the New York Giants (2-6) in what could be the most important game of the season thus far. With trade-deadline implications, the NFC West race on the line, and a looming matchup vs the Los Angeles Rams next week, the stakes couldn't be higher. After the 49ers' disappointing 26-15 loss to the Houston Texans, where the offense sputtered and the defense got gashed, SF is desperate to bounce back. They've added new faces like Keion White and Clelin Ferrell … but the injury list looms large (no Brock Purdy, Ricky Pearsall, Bryce Huff or Jake Brendel). That MetLife turf has haunted them before — so they'll want to come out clean. On the flip side, the Giants are a mess in 2025. Rookie QB Jaxson Dart is under center after season-ending injuries to Cam Skattebo and Malik Nabers. They've shown flashes, but they also turn the ball over. Could this be a trap game?Giants defense? Pass rushers like Brian Burns, Abdul Carter and Kayvon Thibodeaux are legit — but their run defense allows 5.7 yards per carry and 148 yards per game. That spells opportunity for the 49ers ground game. And what about targeting George Kittle? The Giants' secondary has been torched all year: high completion rates allowed, poor coverage grades, and matchup issues all over. If San Fran can establish the run and get Kittle involved, they open everything up.This video breaks down:• Why this is arguably the biggest game of the season for the 49ers so far• Key injury updates + how they impact both teams• Matchup breakdowns: run game vs run defense, pass rush vs 49ers' offensive line, how the Giants' secondary stacks up• What the 49ers must do to win … and what dangers to watch out forIf you're a 49ers fan — or just love deep NFL game-preview breakdowns — hit that Like button, drop a comment with your key prediction for Sunday, and Subscribe for more weekly 49ers coverage.

Brian Burns was caught on camera furious with a defensive decision late in the Giants loss
Callers weigh in on Jets and Giants coaching drama, while Brian Burns erupts walking off the field and through the tunnel — tempers flaring in Big Blue land!
Gio's seeing a silver lining — says the Giants have energy and a bright future. Boomer's not buying it, ripping the coaching staff for mismanaging the game and blasting their late defensive calls. He sticks by his “only go for 2 when you need 2” rule. Brian Burns blew up over dropped coverage, and Jaxson Dart looked crushed — which Gio oddly loves. Now the question: how will Big Blue respond heading to Philly?
G-Money from the Caribbean spills the scoop — the Giants keep their kicker around because he's “international” and doesn't eat a roster spot! Jude McAtamney reacts to missed XPs, while Dart and Brian Burns weigh in after the game.
Boomer heads to Cincinnati for the Jets game and Ring of Honor inductions, while Gio wonders if he'll console Aaron Glenn. Zach Wilson gets bumped to third string, Ewers starts, and the Giants collapse again on defense — Brian Burns furious on and off the field. Kicker McAtamney laments missed XPs, Dart bounces back after a pick, and the Jets drop to 0-7. Elsewhere, Caleb Williams shines, Dolphins stumble, Stafford throws 5 TDs, and Vlad Guerrero keeps crushing it in the postseason.
Giants meltdown in Denver has everyone talking! Gio sees a silver lining — energy and a bright future — but Boomer isn't buying it, blasting the coaching staff and calling the offense mismanaged. Brian Burns screamed over late defensive calls, Dart looked crushed, and the missed extra point still stings. Daboll, McAtamney, and Glenn weigh in on the chaos. Elsewhere, Niners edge Falcons, Cowboys crush Commanders, and Colts roll to 6-1, while Giants' defense can't stop Justin Fields. The big question: can Big Blue bounce back in Philly?
Giants reeling in Denver — missed XPs, defensive meltdowns, and furious Brian Burns on the field. Boomer blasts the coaching staff for bad decisions, while Dart bounces back after a pick and McAtamney laments his kicking woes. Gio sees a silver lining, but Jets woes continue as they drop to 0-7. Can Big Blue bounce back on the road, or is Philly next stop for heartbreak?
