We continue on In The Trenches with Dave Lapham, presented by First Star Logistics, talking with former New York Giants, two-time Super Bowl Champion quarterback, and CBS, The NFL Today analyst Phil Simms. In Part 2, Simms and Lap discuss the status of the NFL and the rise of franchise quarterbacks like Bengals signal caller Joe Burrow and others across the NFL. How much of a factor will the massive contract signed by Deshaun Watson be in the Bengals working on Burrow's new deal and other quarterbacks across the league? How has growing up sons of football coaches helped Burrow, Zac Taylor, Brian Callahan, and Dan Pitcher in their developments and current success in Cincinnati?
Breaking down what Bengals offensive coaches had to say about the future of the offensive line and running game, and Darrin Simmons clearly stating a need for more consistent hangtime in the punter competition in 2023. Bengals offensive coordinator Brain Callahan returns to In The Trenches with Dave Lapham. Dave and Coach Callahan talk about the disappointing end to the season but look back on an what was still an amazing 2022 season. Callahan contributed a lot to the Bengals success in 2022 working with Joe Burrow and Zac Taylor. The Bengals offense continued to show success and had the stats to back it up. The NFL noticed the Bengals success the past two years and had both of their coordinators be finalists for head coaching positions this February. Coach Callahan was a finalist for the Indianapolis Colts head coach but the Colts decided to hire Eagles OC Shane Steichen as their head coach meaning Callahan will return as the Bengals OC in 2023. Coach Callahan and Dave talk about the quick turnaround with the draft and free agency right around the corner and I think you'll really enjoy this episode of In The Trenches with Dave Lapham presented by First Star Logistics.

It was another big season for Zac Taylor and the Cincinnati Bengals as they came up a game short of making a second consecutive Super Bowl. With success comes other teams calling and looking to hire away members of a coaching staff. For Taylor, the excitement of knowing his entire staff looks ready to return after Lou Anarumo, Brian Callahan, Dan Pitcher, and Troy Walters each saw teams call with possible opportunities. Along with the possibility of losing members of his staff, Taylor knows when you have great players like Joe Burrow and others, you also have to figure out a way to pay them what they're worth. This episode of In The Trenches with Dave Lapham, presented by First Star Logistics, has Coach Taylor returning to discuss several subjects, including how the season played out and the above topics.
This week, we rejoice in the Bengals' coaching staff coming back reunited, while looking at the team's offseason approach. -How big of an impact do the returns of Brian Callahan and Lou Anarumo have on impending free agents and/or players the Bengals are looking to extend? -What might the Bengals' positional approach be in the draft this year with the staff all coming back and in referencing previous trends? -University of Utah tight end Dalton Kincaid provides an intriguing weapon for an offense. -USC defensive lineman Tuli Tuipulotu is a guy who can wreck an opposing offense from multiple spots up front. Former Cincinnati Bengals cornerback Louis Breeden knows what it's like to reach the Super Bowl during his career with the Bengals. Breeden is sold on how good the Bengals have been the past two seasons, reaching back-to-back AFC Championships and Super Bowl LVI. Breeden also knows the straw that stirs the Bengals is quarterback Joe Burrow. Breeden comes up from the secondary to jump In The Trenches with Dave Lapham, presented by First Star Logistics, to discuss the Bengals' recent success. Having to pay Burrow with a giant contract, moves to make in the secondary with Jessie Bates, Vonn Bell, Eli Apple, and Tre Flowers hitting free agency, and his thoughts on Cam Taylor-Britt and Dax Hill, both who will be playing more significant roles next season. Also discussed is losing coaches, as three Bengals assistant coaches are currently in the running for upgrades, with Lou Anarumo, a finalist for the Cardinals head coaching job, Brian Callahan, a finalist for the Colts head job, and Dan Pitcher, up for the offensive coordinator position in Tampa Bay. We also talk about Ken Riley hopefully taking his place at the NFL Hall of Fame. And before we let Louis go, we dug into Sunday's upcoming Super Bowl match-up between the Kansas City Chiefs and Philidelphia Eagles. Who does Breeden see winning the game? Watch until the end in this special, In The Trenches.

(0:00-28:12) The Ride with JMV kicks off on a Wednesday! John opens the show with Indiana's loss to Maryland. The discussion centers around the lack of help for Trayce Jackson-Davis, fouls and more. It looks like Tyrese Haliburton is going to come back against the Lakers on Thursday and Daniel Theis is inching closer to seeing the floor. John discusses the Pacers rebounding issues and where that production could come from. Then, he turns to a Colts head coaching update and why there was no way Sean Payton could end up in Indianapolis. Is it Steichen or Brian Callahan? Jeff Saturday? A petition seems unnecessary from JMV's point of view. Finally, John talks about what the Pacers are doing at the deadline. (28:12-40:49) John remembers how fun the video game Tecmo Bowl was in the late 80s before the conversation returns to IU ahead of their matchup against Purdue on Saturday. Are the Pacers a buyer or seller? JMV has a different word to describe the local franchise with the deadline approaching. (40:49-48:30) JMV wraps up the first hour with the current odds for the next Colts head coach, the Hoosiers loss to Maryland and some comments from the lounge. (48:30-1:20:59) To kick off the second hour, Coach Dane Fife joins JMV to first talk about domestic life nowadays before getting into what happened with Indiana in College Park last night. Dane talks about the consistency – or lack thereof – of Indiana and why Purdue is so consistent both at home and on the road. Dane and JMV talk about the growing pains of getting back to the highest level of the Big Ten and college basketball and the upcoming matchup against Purdue. Dane talks about his relationship with the current players and players dealing with outside voices. The conversation wraps up with a more extensive IU-Purdue preview. (1:20:59-1:27:16) John discusses some news from the day. (1:27:16-1:35:07) JMV wraps the second hour with Tom Brady's retirement, the Pacers at the deadline and the Colts. (1:35:07-2:11:46) 107.5 the Fan and Kevin and Query's Kevin Bowen joins the show as he does every Wednesday. KB and John discuss the Colts head coach search. Where does Jeff Saturday stand right now? What are the reasons that Saturday is not in the running for the head coaching position? Then, they discuss why there was no interest from Jim Harbaugh's camp in being the HC in Indianapolis and why that didn't pick up any steam. The conversation ends with a head coach prediction, how quiet the Colts have been throughout the process and what Bowen thinks the best choice is before finishing with the Pacers. (2:11:46-2:16:23) John gives out some shoutouts from his remote last week at Alley Cat. (2:16:23-2:21:08) JMV wraps up the show and sets up tomorrow's show featuring Trayce Jackson-Davis.See omnystudio.com/listener for privacy information.

Locked On Cardinals - Daily Podcast On The Arizona Cardinals
Yesterday two of the top options to fill the vacant head coaching position for the Arizona Cardinals took jobs elsewhere: Sean Payton chose the Denver Broncos and DeMeco Ryans chose the Houston Texans job. Where does this leave the Arizona Cardinals now? Where do they turn? Will it be one of the two coordinators coming from the Cincinnati Bengals organization in Lou Aranumo or Brian Callahan? Will it be Brian Flores? Or maybe a coordinator that's currently preparing to coach in the Super Bowl? The bottom line throughout this process is that both the fans and the organization alike need to put their implicit trust into Michael Bidwill. Daunting task? Maybe. Absolutely necessary? Without question. There's no other option. To download the game just visit Ultimate-GM.com or look it up on the app stores. Running a three man weave this week with Scott, Cameron, and Jared! -------- Scott and Jared open the show raging against holidays for some reason. -------- The guys jump back into the hot topic that is UK basketball. Cameron recaps the three games since the "literal world was falling on UK basketball fans" and gives a positive outlook for the rest of the season. -------- The guys then recap the Bengals-Ravens Wildcard round and try to predict the Divisional Round matchup against the Bills. (Recorded on 1/21/23). A report came out that Joe Brrr is about to get PAID and Scott wants to know what kind of deal Joe can expect to get. They guys also contemplate the future of the Bengals offense with the report that Brian Callahan was interviewed with the Indianapolis Colts for their head coaching position. Last Bengals topic, Andrew Whitworth and the quest to keep Joe Burrow upright during the postseason. Conflicting reports emerged about a potential return. Lovie Smith gets brought up as Cameron didn't realize that he was a head coach before this year. A WILD and unfortunate story from Coppin State rounds out the sports section of the pod. -------- Cameron wants to talk about Miley Cyrus and the shade she threw at her ex and savageness of her music video. -------- To round out the show, Scott has a bracket of the "most universally liked humans". This show is dumb, thanks for being here! Go to the website and leave us a voicemail! New episodes (almost) every Wednesday! The Indianapolis Colts need to nail their quarterback-head coach combo this offseason, and there are a few options that make a ton of sense: Brian Callahan/C.J. Stroud, Mike Kafka/Will Levis, and Shane Steichen/Anthony Richardson could all put the Colts on the right path for the foreseeable future. If last week's Wild Card Game against the Baltimore Ravens had Cincinnati Bengals fans on the edge of their seats, Sunday's dominating 27-10 win over the Buffalo Bills had fans watching one of the best overall performances of the season while advancing to the AFC Championship Game for a second consecutive season to face the Kansas City Chiefs. Bills fans watched as the Bengals hammered down coffin nails in their season. Any dreams of reaching a Super Bowl were put to rest as Joe Burrow threw for 242 yards and two touchdowns, one each to Ja'Marr Chase and Hayden Hurst, while Joe Mixon played with a massive smile on his face rushing for 105 yards and a touchdown and the Bengals defense kept Josh Allen in check with only eight yards in the first quarter and no touchdown passes and an interception for the entire game. Dave Lapham jumped In The Trenches, presented by First Star Logistics, to give his postgame thoughts on the Bengals' big win behind a revamped offensive line and another gem of a game plan by Zac Taylor, Brian Callahan, and Lou Anarumo.

He joined us on Bengals Line to discuss the Ravens win and look ahead to the Bills.
Bengals Fans, can you feel it? The Cincinnati Bengals defeated the Baltimore Ravens last Sunday to leave no doubt about who the AFC North Champion was for the second straight year. We've done 17 Laps Keys To Bengals Victory but played 16 games after what happened against the Buffalo Bills. Now, all that is behind us, and it's time to start talking about the AFC playoffs as the Bengals welcome back to Paycor Stadium the Ravens for a third matchup this season. We all know John Harbaugh won't have quarterback Lamar Jackson for the game, and there are still some questions if Tyler Huntly or Anthony Brown will take the majority of snaps. Either way, we trust Lou Anarumo to have the defense ready to make key stops like last Sunday. Joe Burrow said it himself, he did not play a great game last weekend, and it's time for Brian Callahan and Zac Taylor to let Joe Burrow, Ja'Marr Chase, and Joe Mixon have explosive performances to earn a playoff win and advance to play another weekend. We've been busy at In The Trenches with Dave Lapham, presented by First Star Logistics, with press conferences by Taylor and Burrow and exclusive one-on-one interviews with Anarumo and Callahan. Cincinnati Bengals offensive coordinator Brian Callahan jumps back In The Trenches with Dave Lapham, presented by First Star Logistics, to discuss what happened against the Buffalo Bills and updated status of safety Damar Hamlin and how the Bengals moved past what happened to return to the Paycor Stadium turf to beat the Baltimore Ravens and leave no doubt, the Bengals are back-to-back AFC North Champions. Callahan talks about the Bengals' win over their divisional rival this past Sunday, only to turn around and start his prep work for a third match-up t his season. Covered during our informative conversation is the loss of right guard Alex Cappa to injury, leaving the Bengals without two of their season-long starters along the revamped offensive line in back-to-back games as La'el Collins went down against the Patriots and Cappa the Ravens. What is expected of replacements Hakeem Adeniji at right tackle and Max Sharping at right guard? Callahan talks about both players and more as we start working towards a primetime match-up between the Ravens and Bengals on Sunday night, with the winner advancing to the next round of the AFC Playoffs.
