There may have been a time or two in our lives we felt like we hit rock bottom. What do we do when we hit rock bottom? There is always hope because as Jesus prayed for Peter that his faith would not fail him, Jesus has prayed for us. Peter may have faltered, but his faith did not fail him. There is a sifting we all will go through but we must seek the Lord during that sifting.

This week as we continue our series “Let's Eat” we are joining Jesus and the disciples for breakfast on the beach. That sounds amazing. Can you imagine having breakfast with Jesus on the beach after working all night? What would that feel like? What do you think you would talk about? As the guys are trying to figure out what their lives will be like after Jesus is raised from the dead, they encounter the risen Jesus again. I think that many of us wonder the same thing. What do our lives look like after we encounter Jesus?Recorded live at Word of Life Church in Le Sueur, Minnesota, on Sunday, August 24, 2025, Pastor Jason preaching.
The first question Peter asked Jesus after he'd been restored was, “Lord, what about this man?” While Peter should have been focusing on Jesus's plan for his life, he fixated on John. Jesus said to Peter, “What is that to you? You follow me!” We can spend our whole lives obsessively comparing ourselves to others rather than focusing on God's plan for us. Jesus wants to spare us that. He has a unique calling on your life that is full of blessings. So let us fix our eyes on Jesus, the Author and Perfecter of our faith. (Hebrews 12:2)Take-Home Message: Following Jesus requires focusing on Him.- Jesus endures my constant comparing (20-21).- Jesus decides my unique calling (22-23). - How do I stay focused on my unique calling? - Mind my own business. - Make time for God to reveal my unique calling. - Listen to the guidance of other Christians.- Jesus eludes my complete knowledge (24-25).

In this episode, we explore a powerful leadership moment from John 21: the disciples, weary after a long night of fishing, caught nothing—until Jesus told them to cast their net on the other side. That small shift—just a few feet—transformed failure into overflowing success. For leaders today, the message is clear: God's guidance often comes not in sweeping changes, but in simple, obedient shifts. You don't always need a new plan, team, or strategy. Sometimes you just need to hear His voice and take one faithful step in a slightly different direction. Ron Kelleher unpacks key leadership insights from this encounter: Why our expertise isn't enough when it's not aligned with God's direction. How obedience—even when it seems pointless—can unlock unexpected provision. Why small shifts in response to God's voice often lead to the biggest breakthroughs. This episode challenges leaders to consider: What if your next breakthrough isn't far off—it's just on the other side of the boat? You'll walk away with five practical steps to apply today and reflective questions to help align your leadership with God's wisdom. Don't miss this opportunity to rethink what success looks like when you follow the voice of the Master.

Have you ever done something so shameful, so embarrassing, so disgusting, so bad, so sinful, that all you wanted to do was run away and hide? Now put yourself in the shoes of Peter wherethat very moment has occurred. After closely following Jesus for three years, in Christ's darkesthour, Peter denied even knowing Him. Not once, not twice, but three times. Although Peter oncesaid, “even if I have to die with you, I will not deny you” (Matt 26:35), he still did.Imagine living with that kind of guilt, weight, and burden. For some, you don't have to imagine.I've failed Jesus too many times, you think. You still come to church, you still believe that Jesusis who He says He is—but you are convinced that because of what you have done, you cannotbe useful for the name of Jesus. This is why we need a Bible. And praise God for passages like John 21:1-19. For those whobelieve that their story is over, know this: your failure does not have the final say—Jesus does. This is a story about the heart of Jesus—the One who pursues disciples who have denied Him,abandoned Him, and let Him down. What does He do with them? Jesus restores.BIG IDEA: Jesus restores.1) Peter Retreats (1-3).- Lies that Cause Us to Retreat (And the Truths to Combat Them)- LIE: God couldn't love me // TRUTH: Romans 5:8- LIE: God can't forgive me // TRUTH: Hebrews 7:25- LIE: God doesn't want me // TRUTH: Ephesians 2:102) Peter Remembers (4-14).- Peter remembered…- When Jesus called him (John 21:4-6; Luke 5:4-8).- When he denied Jesus (John 21:9, John 18:18).3) Peter Restored (15-19).- Why does God restore me?- I'm restored to strengthen others (21:15-17, Luke 22:31-32).- I'm restored to glorify God (21:18-19).- I'm restored to follow Jesus (21:19).

This Sunday, we studied the final scene in the gospel of John where Jesus talks very personally with Simon Peter. Simon's journey in discipleship has been a roller coaster, to say the least, because His expectations around what following and loving Jesus needs major adjustments. I would suggest that this is true for any disciple of Jesus. We love Jesus, but we don't know how to love Jesus. Our faith is genuine, but it is immature. This Sunday's message from John 21:15-23 is called, Loving Jesus Jesus' Way. Jesus' final words to Simon Peter are not simply corrective; they are enormously gracious and re-directive. Peter had just recently denied His relationship with Jesus three times before the crucifixion. Yet, here is Christ fully committed and completely compassionate – calling Simon to love Jesus, Jesus' way. If your faith is genuine and your love for Christ is sincere, this passage will help adjust your expectations to the expectations of Jesus. Join us Sundays at 9 & 11A, as we learn to love the One who laid down His life for us so that we might lay down our lives for Him. Hope you will come and invite a friend! Message from Brad Wheeler on August 10, 2025
In contrast to the other gospels, John presents an epilogue with a personal, intimate look into the gracious recommissioning of Peter and the disciples. This presents a unique facet of the commission that Christ gives to his followers as he restores and calls us to faithfully serve his Kingdom by continually beholding and abiding in him and tending and caring for one another.
Sunday morning - Bro. Dalton Harrington
Sometimes failure feels final. You work hard, do all the right things, and still end up with empty hands. That's where Peter found himself—haunted by his denial of Jesus, unsure if he still belonged. But in John 21, Jesus shows up on the shore with a fire, breakfast, and a question that changes everything. In this message, Pastor Steve shows how Jesus meets us in our surrender, not our success. He restores what shame tries to erase, and He turns our worst moments into a new beginning. This isn't just a story about Peter—it's hope for anyone who wonders if they can still be used by God.
We have reached the final chapter of the Gospel of John, wherein John reveals some of the events that took place following the resurrection of Jesus. In our last episode, the disciples discovered that Jesus had risen from the dead. He has presented himself to them on a couple of occasions already, but in today's episode, Jesus appears to them on the shore of the Sea of Tiberius where has breakfast with the disciples. You may recall that Peter had denied Jesus three times, before the crucifixion. Christ takes this opportunity to restore Peter threefold, giving him the commendation to feed and shepherd his sheep. Finally, John caps his account with a personal and thoughtful conclusion about the ministry of Jesus. :::Christian Standard Bible translation. All music written and produced by John Burgess Ross.Co-produced by the Christian Standard Biblefacebook.com/commuterbibleinstagram.com/commuter_bibletwitter.com/CommuterPodpatreon.com/commuterbibleadmin@commuterbible.org
