Along with a special prayer over our dads in honor of Father's Day, Pastor Jeff Sparkman continues our series through the Gospel of John in John 18 where we see the trial of Jesus before Pilate. Pilate asks the famous question, what is truth? We discuss the humanity of Jesus, religion vs. relationship, and discerning truth in our day and age.
This week, Pastor Jeff Sparkman continues our series through the Gospel of John in John chapter 18, with Peter's denial. We can all see a little bit of ourselves in the disciple Peter. This passage helps show us how to deal with failure in life, and how it's never the end, but only an opportunity to grow and walk closer to Jesus.
CULTIVATING SAINTS, SAGES, AND STATESMEN THROUGH THE GREAT TRADITION OF CHRISTENDOMIn this episode, I cover a verse from the Gospel of John (John 20:21-23) that greatly disturbed me as a protestant. Jesus literally gave the Apostles the authority to forgive or not forgive sins! I had no framework for understanding this as a protestant. In retrospect, I now see it as the beginning of my journey to the Catholic Church.See our Quote Archive on the Sacrament of Confession in the Church Fathers: https://eternalchristendom.com/becoming-catholic/quote-archive/sacrament-of-confession/VISIT OUR WEBSITEhttps://eternalchristendom.com/BECOME A PATRON OF THE GREAT TRADITIONHelp us continue to dig into the Great Tradition; produce beautiful, substantive content; and gift these treasures to cultural orphans around the world for free:https://eternalchristendom.com/become-a-patron/EXCLUSIVE DISCOUNTS AT ETERNAL CHRISTENDOM BOOKSTOREhttps://eternalchristendom.com/bookstore/CONNECT ON SOCIAL MEDIAX: https://twitter.com/JoshuaTCharlesFacebook: https://www.facebook.com/joshuatcharles/Instagram: https://www.instagram.com/joshuatcharles/DIVE DEEPERCheck out Eternal Christendom's "Becoming Catholic," where you'll find hundreds of thousands of words of free content (as big as the Bible!) in the form of Articles, Quote Archives, and Study Banks to help you become, remain, and deepen your life as a Catholic:https://eternalchristendom.com/becoming-catholic/EPISODE CHAPTERS00:00 - Introduction03:35 - A Disturbing Verse05:48 - A Disturbing Lack of Answers10:27 - A Disappointing Silence15:52 - The Tip of the Patristic IcebergLISTEN ON APPLEhttps://podcasts.apple.com/us/podcast/eternal-christendom-podcast/id1725000526LISTEN ON SPOTIFYhttps://open.spotify.com/show/3HoTTco6oJtApc21ggVevu

Friends of the Rosary,Today, in the Gospel of John (John 17:20-26), Christ Jesus prays for our unity with him and with each other.“I have given them the glory you gave me,so that they may be one, as we are one,I in them and you in me, that they may be brought to perfection as one, that the world may know that you sent me, and that you loved them even as you loved me.”Jesus, who speaks and acts in the very person of God, wants us to be brought to perfection as one.“I made known to them your name and I will make it known, that the love with which you loved memay be in them and I in them."Ave Maria!Jesus, I Trust In You!Come, Holy Spirit, come!To Jesus through Mary! Here I am, Lord; I come to do your will. Please give us the grace to respond with joy!+ Mikel Amigot w/ María Blanca | RosaryNetwork.com, New YorkEnhance your faith with the new Holy Rosary University app:Apple iOS | New! This week, Pastor Ben Watts continues our series through the Gospel of John in chapter 18, where we step into the most pivotal moments in all of Scripture — the betrayal and arrest of Jesus. Chapters 18–20 cover only three days, yet they contain the most important events in human history: the death, burial, and resurrection of Jesus Christ. These moments didn't just mark the end of Jesus' earthly ministry, they changed the world forever!
Part 31 of the series: The Gospel of John // John 10:11-21
In addition to a major update on our building project, this Sunday we continued our series in John 17 with Jesus' prayer for unity. All of God's Word is vital, but this particular passage speaks powerfully to where we are right now as a church. The Bible shows us how to walk in unity, what truly unites us, how to view denominational differences, and how to cultivate unity in your family, church, and community. Where there is unity, God commands a blessing!
Friends of the Rosary,Christ the Son and the Father come to each of us and adapt their dwelling, knowing our struggles and weaknesses, as we read today in the Gospel of John (John 14:23-29)."Whoever loves me will keep my word, and my Father will love him,and we will come to him and make our dwelling with him."Also in the main reading, the Lord Jesus says that the Holy Spirit, whom the Father will send in Christ's name, will teach his disciples everything. The Holy Spirit, the Advocate, is the love shared by the Father and the Son."Peace I leave with you; my peace I give to you.Not as the world gives do I give it to you.Do not let your hearts be troubled or afraid."Ave Maria!Jesus, I Trust In You!Come, Holy Spirit, come!To Jesus through Mary! Here I am, Lord; I come to do your will. Please give us the grace to respond with joy!+ Mikel Amigot w/ María Blanca | RosaryNetwork.com, New York• May 25, 2025, Today's Rosary on YouTube | Daily broadcast at 7:30 pm ET

Pastor Jeff Sparkman's message in John 17 comes from Jesus' longest recorded prayer in the Bible, where He prays specifically for unity among believers. Prayer and Biblical unity is a crucial part of our walk as believers. What is unity... and what isn't it?

On this Mother's Day, our next passage in the Gospel of John very fittingly compares the disciple's mourning to the anguish of a mother in childbirth, which doesn't compare to the joy she experiences once the baby is born! Similarly, the pain and trials we endure on this earth are only temporary, and do not compare to the joyful reality of our future with Christ. We have hope in Jesus, no matter what we are going through!

We are back in John this week on the topic of persecution and opposition in the Christian walk. There will always be trials in our lives, as Jesus said "If the world hates you, know that it hated me first." John 15:18. But Jesus promised to be with us always, and has given us power to resist and overcome temptation. Feeling tempted isn't a sin - it's how you respond to that temptation!
Part 27 of the series: The Gospel of John // John 8:12-30
Pastor Jeff Sparkman is back in the Gospel of John, Chapter 15 this week with Jesus' famous teaching on the vine and branches. This passage is about pruning, and how we should respond when God takes things out our life. Willingness to grow and mature in Christ is a necessary part of walking with Him!

Part 25 of the series: The Gospel of John // John 7:37-53
This Sunday in John 13 and 14, Jesus tells His disciples, "where I am going you cannot come, but one day you will be with me. In my Father's House there are many mansions, if it was not true I wouldn't tell you so." If you have a vision for something you prepare for it. If you have a vision for retirement you prepare and set aside money. Maybe the reason we don't prepare for heaven is because we don't have a vision for it. This Sunday, we spend some time imagining Heaven!
This Sunday in our series through the Gospel of John, Pastor Jeff Sparkman speaks on the work of the Holy Spirit in our lives, praying in Jesus name, and Jesus's promise that we will do greater works. We pray for the Holy Spirit to empower us this week!

Betrayal is something every one of us will experience in this life, some deeper than others. God's word shows us how we should deal with, heal through it, and stay whole in our emotions afterwards. How do we continue to trust after a betrayal and how do we make wise decisions about who we allow in our life to limit the pain of toxic relationships?

This Sunday, Pastor Ben Watts continues our series in the Gospel of John with a sermon about John 13:1-17, where Jesus insists on washing Peter's feet, and tells him, "do as I have done to you." How to we put this into practice today, and what does it to wash the feet of others? Additionally, when we ourselves are washed by the blood of Jesus, we can have faith that He will be with us always, through both the mountains and the valleys of life.
Part 22 of the series: The Gospel of John // John 6:60-71
Have you ever felt like God gave you a dream or a promise, only for it to seem delayed, or even unfulfilled several years later? In the Bible we see many situations where God promised His people great things, but if He hadn't put a "pause" on the promise, the full magnitude of His glory wouldn't have been revealed in its entirety! We know that God works everything out for good for those who love Him, and has plans to give us a hope and a future. We also know that God is always with us and working in our lives, even when we can't see it. God knows the big picture, so we can trust Him with the outcome of our lives, and know He is for us!

Friends of the Rosary, Happy New Year in Christ! Today, January 3, Christmas Weekday, the Gospel of John (John 1:29-34) contains the first biblical presentation of the Holy Trinity. It happened during Jesus' baptism. The sky opened, and John the Baptist saw the Spirit of God descend like a dove and remain upon him. With that, a voice from the heavens said, “This is my beloved Son, with whom I am well pleased.” Today, the first Friday of the month, we also celebrate the memorial of the Most Holy Name of Jesus. The name of Jesus means Savior, for His name expresses His mission. Connected to the reading of today, the name of Jesus opens heaven. It kindles our hearts, clarifies our souls, and removes anger and anxiety. Devotion to the Holy Name is deeply rooted in the Sacred Scriptures. We read in Sacred Scripture how the angel Gabriel revealed that name to Mary: “You shall call His name Jesus.” As the Catechism states, “The name Jesus' contains all… His name is the only one that contains the presence it signifies.” It's suitable for any circumstance: joy and gratitude on a trial when we have sinned. We say, “Praise Jesus,” “Jesus, help me!”, “Jesus, have mercy.” His holy name brings love and hope. Whoever prays to the Eternal Father in the name of Jesus may have hope for every grace he asks for: “If you ask the Father anything in My name, He will give it to you.” Whenever we pronounce it, we ought to bow our heads; for the very name reminds us of the greatest favor we have ever received, salvation. January has traditionally been dedicated to the Holy Name of Jesus.
