Today we tackle what can be one of life's greatest fears – the fear of death. Dreams run their course. Seasons of life wind down. Relationships fizzle. Our bodies fade, and eventually we all die. It is imperative that we learn how to deal with the inevitable. That's why today we zero in on John 11:32–44 and listen to Him who is the resurrection and the life; for as we see with Lazarus, death is never the end when Jesus shows up. Textual questions to ponder: 1) How did Lazarus' sisters react to his death? How did Jesus react? 2) Why is death frequently our greatest fear? 3) What does Jesus promise you when you face the death of a dream, a job, a relationship, or someone you love?

Because the resurrected Christ has proven his authority as our divine life-giver and judge, we must respond to his call and trust him for eternal life to escape the judgment we deserve.

This week, we continue our journey through Lent as Resistance and how we might resist death. Resurrection is not only about what happens later. It is what happens whenever life breaks through now. And if resurrection is happening now, then we can no longer accept what diminishes life as inevitable.
On the final Sunday of Lent, we wrap up our Encounters series with Jesus Encountering Death. The Reverend Jacob Smith explores the question posed to the Prophet Ezekiel: "Mortal, Can These Bones Live?" and in Jesus Christ, the answer is always a resounding YES!
Welcome to the Daily Disciple Podcast. As daily disciples, we seek to adore and follow Jesus, our teacher, into the abundant life that he offers. Because we find Jesus irresistible, fascinating, and incredibly practical, we want to be students of his scripture. Today's episode is found in John 12 "Facing Death."
Preparing for Life After Death | The Gospel of John | John 3:1-8Opening Video: https://youtu.be/f2F_5KNdyig?si=mprqNudjaUSXWlTdIn this message from our Gospel of John series, Pastor Stacey explores what it truly means to prepare for life after death through the story of Nicodemus. In John 3:1–8, Jesus tells Nicodemus that no one can see the Kingdom of God unless they are born again. At first, Nicodemus struggles to understand. But as we follow his journey through Scripture—from his questions in John 3, to his defense of Jesus in John 7:48–51, and finally to his courageous act in John 19:38–42—we see the slow and powerful progression of a heart moving toward faith. This sermon reminds us that being born again is not always a single moment of clarity. For many, it is a process of seeking, questioning, understanding, and ultimately trusting Christ.Drawing also from Titus 3:5, we see that salvation is not something we earn, but something God accomplishes through His mercy and the renewing work of the Holy Spirit. If you've ever wrestled with faith, asked hard questions, or wondered what it really means to be born again, this message is for you.

When a suspicious package is found, John Taylor is the man who walks toward it - knowing any mistake is the last mistake he will make. For more than 30 years, John faced scenes few ever witness, including cleaning up after the Derrinallum bombing carried out by Glenn Sanders. Off duty, John’s appetite for danger never faded, from climbing Mount Everest to kayaking across the Bass Strait. John joins Gary Jubelin to tell the extraordinary stories behind a life spent running toward risk. In this message from John 12, Pastor Alex reflects on Mary's extravagant act of love as she pours out costly perfume at Jesus' feet. What seems excessive becomes a picture of devotion and surrender, inviting us to consider what Jesus truly means to us. As the story moves toward Jerusalem and the cross, we're reminded that following Jesus often costs more than we expect and asks us to choose obedience over convenience. As we approach Holy Week, this sermon invites us to slow down, give our best to Jesus, and remember why the table and a life of gratitude matter so deeply.
Jesus raised Lazarus from the dead in chapter 11 to prepare His disciples for His own coming resurrection. The irony of this story is found in the fact that as one man is raised to life, another is marked for death.

Pastor Micah Klutinoty in John 21:18-25 shares that following Jesus means remembering that we are not our own. We belong, body and soul, in life and death, to God and to our Savior Jesus Christ. Because our future and our story belong to Jesus, we can face suffering without fear or comparison, trusting that God is using every trial to make us more like Christ.

What happens when we die? John Burke has studied near-death experiences for the past three decades, and what he found transformed him from an agnostic engineer to a pastor. The stories of those who have clinically died but come back to life, he says, point to the “reality of heaven and hell” and the overwhelming love of the God of the Bible who has kept his promises to Abraham and continues to keep his promises today. In a touching conversation about redemption and atonement, Glenn and John discuss afterlife “life reviews” and how we voluntarily lock ourselves in hell when we don't forgive ourselves. Glenn shares a vivid dream that helped him understand the light of God, and John details the incredible story of how a descendant of Muhammad came to faith in Jesus. In the end, the pair agree that even though we live in an “evil and broken world,” what matters most to God is “how we treat one another.” Sponsors Relief Factor Relief Factor can help you live pain-free!
