Connect with Brian Matiash and Sharky James on Twitter, Instagram and Facebook (all @NoNamePhotoShow). Did we mention SUBSCRIBE?!!! Please? ;) Alas, double digits and it feels so good! We've got something special in store for this milestone: our first guest host! From the get go, our goal has been to introduce guests because... guests are cool and cool guests are even cooler. But unlike many other shows that make the episode about the guest, our goal is to bring on guests who become part of the show. So with that, we're thrilled to introduce wedding photographer and the Storm Whisperer himself, Mike Olbinski, to join us for this episode! Fortunately, Adobe made some seriously big announcements with their Lightroom road map last week that provided more than enough fodder for our trio to discuss. Finally, each of our hosts share some pivotal moments from their lives that fundamentally changed their professional directions and led them to become full time, working photographers. All that plus a triple dose of "What's On Your Gear Shelf?" make up Episode 10! Show Notes • Brian and Sharky are thrilled to announce the show's very first guest host, Mike Olbinski. Aside from being a helluva wedding photographer, Mike is also one of the best storm chasers out there and has created some of the most visually stunning time lapse videos that your eyes have ever seen. Seriously, clean your floor because your jaws are about to be hitting them pretty hard. [Vimeo] • Now that you've had a chance to lift your jaws back up and wipe the mess you made on the ground, we can move onto the lil' bit of news coming out of Adobe's camp. In addition to a slew of major updates to their Creative Cloud ecosystem, the company announced a "new" version of Lightroom dubbed "Lightroom CC" with the existing implementation renamed with the lovely moniker, "Lightroom Classic." As you can imagine, this caused a lot of confusion and even more ire with the legion of photographers hoping for a more substantial update. [via the always wonderful Julieanne Kost on the Adobe Blog] • Mike and Sharky weigh in on these changes and lament about how much they wish Lightroom's initial culling experience was faster, similar to what Photo Mechanic provides. [Camera Bits] • After much hullabaloo, the hosts shift gears by recalling some of their more pivotal experiences that led them to leave their existing careers to pursue photography as a primary profession

You may know Julieanne Kost as the Photoshop & Lightroom Evangelist. You may know her as the published author. You may know her as the extraordinarily accomplished Photographer. Sit down with her for a few minutes, and you'll know her as a generous fountain of knowledge--and wisdom! You'll also learn about the influence her parents had on her career, and why Julieanne embraces (an evangelizes) the technical aspects of art. What else might you learn? Glad you asked: Industries that you did not know use Photoshop. HINT: Why does PS have the Eyedropper tool? The near-future use of 3D avatars The question she hears most about working in Lightroom Why is her work hanging in the Ansel Adams Before and After exhibit? What does she want her "footprint" in Photography to be? [this alone is worth the listen!!!!] How does she answer the question, "Do you KNOW Photoshop? Back of your hand, inside and out?" Bring your notepad to this conversation! And if you find it helpful, too, kindly share it with a friend. Adobe has released another update to Photoshop CC. They even released a pretty interesting video showing the future of the entire suite of products. While this was a video to showcase their new partnership with Microsoft, there is plenty to look forward to. Unfortunately, I am not a graphic designer, illustrator, or video editor. I have only seen one thing out of Adobe since the initial release of CC over a year ago that I even cared about, much less used (Linked Smart Objects). Sadly, I even needed to be an advanced composite user to even care about that. My Previous Top 10 List was passed along to Adobe's Engineers by Julieanne Kost (thanks). While I don't know if anything I wrote about the first time will ever make it into Photoshop for Photographers and Retouchers, I feel it's important to keep them on their toes. Therefore, I bring to your attention 10 more things still missing in Photoshop for retouchers. No related posts.
