Michael Rung, a nature photographer based in Fort Worth, Texas, reflects on his path to becoming a full-time artist. Growing up in suburban St. Louis, Michael's early experiences with nature were rekindled later in life through photography. His passion took root during a business trip to Ireland in 2015, where capturing the scenic beauty sparked his love for landscape photography.   Since 2015, Michael's dedication to photography has deepened, with his work from 2019 onwards truly reflecting his evolving style. He adopted a more reactive, mindful approach to photography, focusing on capturing moments in nature without preconceived expectations. This method has greatly improved his work, allowing him to connect more deeply with his subjects.   In 2020, Michael began offering online photography presentations and launched a YouTube channel, focusing on Lightroom Classic tutorials and his creative process. By 2021, he expanded his business by investing in a professional large-format printer, enabling him to produce fine art nature prints with complete creative control. In Short Circuits: When you're giving away or selling a computer or disk drive, think about the files that were on the computer. Just deleting them doesn't really remove the data. Many people have chosen to use Lightroom over Lightroom Classic because of it's simplicity and cloud features. As much as I love using Lightroom Classic for editing my photos, it doesn't mean that it can do absolutely everything you need! There's a damn good reason why Adobe bundled both Lightroom Classic CC and Photoshop CC together in their Photography Plan - because when you have access to both programs, you can do absolutely anything your little editing heart desires! Exposure hasn't had an upgrade from the X7 version, which was released in 2021, but it's still a good choice both as a standalone application and as a plug-in for Lightroom Classic. In Short Circuits: Speaking of golden oldies, I encountered a little connector that could be used to join lots of devices two years ago. It saved the day a week ago when I had to deal with an IPhone that had a low battery. • There's a lot of concern about the dangers of artificial intelligence, so I went straight to the source and asked two AI engines about the dangers of AI.

Whether you're a long time user of Lightroom or Lightroom Classic, OR you're brand new to editing and just wondering which program to get, you've probably come to realize that there are two different programs available from Adobe, both (confusingly!) called Lightroom.  This always raises a lot of questions, particularly for those who are just starting out on their editing journey, and are confused about which one they should get, and the differences between the two!  Adobe does make absolutely top-notch, wonderful editing programs, but sometimes they don't make it easy to determine which one will suit you best.  Never fear, Audrey's here!  Today on the podcast, I'm going to dive into the differences between these programs, and how to decide which is the best one for you.  Because each program is suited to a different type of photographer, and the type of workflow you have, or want to have.   So tune into today's episode to learn:  How to identify the different versions of Lightroom, and the main differences between the two. It's likely that everyone reading this has used, or at the very least heard of Adobe's ubiquitous piece of software called Photoshop. As Adobe employee number 38, graphic designer Russell Preston Brown was in the room when brothers Thomas and John Knoll showed up to demonstrate a new piece of software, in 1988. Until now, Adobe's Lightroom and Lightroom Classic offered no way to add more than a single mask to an image. That's no longer the case and the change gives users the ability to make modifications that would previously have required using Photoshop. In Short Circuits: Netflix has been trying to find a way to limit password sharing and is testing one option in South America. • How long will the disk drive in your computer last? There's no way to tell for sure, but the annual disk drive report from cloud backup company Backblaze offers some useful clues. Twenty Years Ago (only on the website): In 2003, airlines were just beginning to introduce electronic tickets, but it wasn't until 2008 that the conversion was nearly complete.

Happy 2023! I use a lot of photo software for my photography - Lightroom, Photoshop, ON1 Effects, ON1 Resize, Topaz Sharpen AI, Luminar Neo, Radiant Photo… I admit it, I like software tools. I don't use every tool every day, some are more specialized or niche than others. My core processing tools are Lightroom and ON1 Effects. These are my bread and butter. These days, subscriptions are common place. Like it or not - subscriptions are here to stay. Adobe was the first to make the pivot to the subscription model, leaving perpetual licenses in the rear view mirror. Other vendors have waded into the subscription waters, and I think it's a matter of time before perpetual licenses become the exception and not the rule. I have been a subscriber to Adobe's Photography Plan for several years now. I got curious if the Adobe subscription has been worth the money for me and my photography. I took a look at the features Adobe has delivered since November 2019 and asked a simple question about each feature - would I pay to upgrade for that feature? You'll be glad you did.My Lightroom Subscription AnalysisThe context for my examination of my Lightroom subscription has two primary constraints: I care about Lightroom Classic, the desktop-centric applicationI am the type of person that historically upgrades my software every yearSo, how did I judge the Adobe Lightroom releases? I reviewed the Adobe Lightroom release notes for the versions released from November 2019 through October 2022 and looked at each feature in each release. The question I ask about each feature is simple: If Lightroom were a traditional, perpetual license, would I pay to upgrade to have that feature?The summary of my analysis is yes, for me, the Adobe Lightroom/Photoshop subscription is worth the money. The features that Adobe has put into Lightroom have been compelling enough to Adobe released four major versions of Lightroom in the last three yearsVersions 9.x, 10.x, 11.x, and most recently 12.0I would have paid for three of themThe 9.x, 11.x, and 12.x releases have features that are compelling to me and I'd pay to get themAssuming a perpetual license for a Lightroom upgrade would be in the $100-$120 range:3 paid upgrades would be about $300-$360My subscription plan costs $120/year, or $360If it were Lightroom alone, the subscription (probably) costs a bit more than yearly paid upgrades.
