How can brainwriting transform divergent thinking sessions? Please complete our short 2024 survey to help us build season ten! In this episode of the Fueling Creativity in Education podcast, hosts Dr. Matthew Worwood and Dr. Cyndi Burnett chat with emerging scholar Jimmy Wilson about the connections between creativity research and education. They dive into the growing use of brainwriting in creative thinking sessions, explaining how it benefits different types of learners. Cyndi shares her experiences and research, emphasizing the value of teaching students how to think creatively by delaying judgment and encouraging originality and fluency. Jimmy highlights a study involving Italian elementary students and refugees, suggesting that college admissions should consider creativity to reflect diverse backgrounds. Together, they explore a fun exercise where participants take on different personas to think more creatively and brainstorm new uses for everyday objects. They also discuss how varying the timing of feedback can enhance the creative process and share practical examples, like Neil Bergenroth's use of rowing machines to teach STEM concepts. The conversation touches on equity in creativity, pointing out how cultural sensitivity and diverse environments can inspire new ideas. The hosts stress the importance of flexible and inclusive teaching methods to meet the needs of all learners. Wrapping up, they reflect on how creativity can drive positive change and help address challenges in education. Eager to bring more creativity into your school district? In this episode, we are going to talk about one of the biggest innovations in the world right now, artificial intelligence or AI. We're sure this isn't the first time you're hearing of it or consider how it can be applied in an educational setting. Much of what is being discussed about AI in education is, of course, focused on its teaching and learning applications… which makes sense, given our core mission as educators. In this episode, we take a different approach and explore how AI can be used by administrators to help them be more effective and innovative in their leadership capacities. GUEST: ALEX NEWMAN, author, Indoctrinating Our Children to DeathMost Christians who discern the times know that the U.S. public education system (i.e. government-run schools) is humanistic to the core (humanism being the worldview/religion where man is the highest authority). Under the banner of “separation of church and state”, subversives have successfully removed from government schools the most important subject to understand truth/reality—God.Capturing and secularizing the education system has been the top goal of God-rejecting Marxists for well over 100 years, according to Alex Newman, our guest this weekend and the author of an eye-opening new book, Indoctrinating Our Children to Death. While Americans were once educated at home or privately in an explicitly Christian way, today government schools are radically anti-Christian, propagandizing children with evolution, graphic sexual content, gender confusion, and globalism. In reading Alex's book, it's far, far worse than you think and the chaos in families, children, and broader society shows the rotten fruit. This weekend on The Christian Worldview, Alex Newman will give us a taste of what he will present in full at our Speaker Series event this coming Friday, April 12 at Beacon of Hope Church in St. Paul, MN. There he will show how the push for global governance relies heavily on taking captive young minds in the public education system—and the environmental movement—in their quest for a God-less utopia.Seating for the Speakers Series event this coming Friday, April 12 is now 85% filled so be sure to register as soon as possible if you would like to attend. Last week's episode covered the broad topic of continuing education for team members, but this week's episode digs into a plethora of options. For those on a very tight budget, Bethany gives the option of starting a magazine or book club on your team. She recommends several specific books and lists off a number of good dental and business magazines. She also discusses getting involved with local study club chapters as a way of some very low-cost education and networking. Finally, she moves on to discuss conferences and seminars but does not stay within the dental field. She branches out to recommend things that might not cross the mind when considering education for a team. Although this will certainly not be an exhaustive list, have your pen and paper ready! Talking all about my favorite resources for Continued Education!
While “The Great Resignation” has been a major challenge for schools, it's proven to be especially challenging for special education departments. The dearth of teachers specially trained in special education is a concern for most school districts, including Canyons District. The shortage of para-educators for special education classrooms also is an issue, and CSD this week started a new incentive program for current employees to hopefully fill those positions. Current employees who refer a candidate who accepts a paraeducator job and stays for at least 90 days will receive an extra $500. Employees who recruit a part-time paraeducator who stays for at least 90 days will receive $250. Even with the shortage of teachers and staff, special education departments work hard to provide services to the students who need just a little more help to do big things. Special Education Director Nate Edvalson will talk about the need for teachers, paraeducators, and the great work being done in special education classes and programs, such as speech-language pathology. Special Education Director Nate Edvalson and Amy Buckley - Speech and language specialist join the show to discuss the resources available to students and need and the staffing issues they are facing in the department.See omnystudio.com/listener for privacy information.

In episode 32 of the Outdoor Minimalist Podcast, we are talking about sustainable adventure tourism.
