First Zoom show, first interview show, first time comics in the name means more than just comedians… This is a big moment for us! LOOK AT US GROWING EH?! Ken Knudtsen, a great comic book writer and artist on a ton of popular properties within Marvel and other mediums, has zoom'd in with us to talk about his favorite cartoon from when he was a kid, the Super Friends version and Arian wet-dream (pun intended) version of Aquaman. Campy and fun with the monster-of-the-week style to show off Aquaman's rogues' gallery. On top of that, Ken has his own comic to promote and it so perfectly fit Jon and Joe's taste in art style, theme, and overall plot. “My Monkey's Name is Jennifer” is something everyone should experience. Thanks Ken for coming on with us. Link to his kickstarter in out Bio. This week on DC TV Classics, Britney, Desiree, and Keith watch The CW's unaired Aquaman pilot starring Justin Hartley and provide their own commentary track. Now that Aquaman is finally a cool superhero again (shout out former co-host Ken Knudtsen!) thanks to Jason Momoa in Justice League, we revisit the Smallville spin-off that initially tried to Make Aquaman Great Again! Download the episode on iTunes, and follow along as we comment on the Aquaman show that almost was. See Justin Hartley before he was the Green Arrow and before he was The Manny! Afterwards, Britney, Desiree, and Keith break down Aquaman's reputation as a lame superhero and what to expect from his forthcoming cinematic debut. Before the commentary, Desiree shares her thoughts on watching Teen Titans: The Judas Contract on her birthday, Britney gets excited about the return of Bruce Timm's animated Batman in the just announced Batman & Harley Quinn animated movie! DC TV Classics took an extended break but like Young Justice, we are back! This time your hosts Keith Chow and Britney Monae are joined by special guest Desiree Rodriguez, a writer from sites such as Women Write About Comics, The Nerds of Color, and an editorial assistant for Lion Forge Comics. The three of them discuss the latest news concerning classic DC TV shows including the a 1990s Flash reunion on The CW (pics can be found at The Flash Podcast homepage) and why Keith wants a similar Smallville reunion on Supergirl. Speaking of Smallville, they also discuss Tom Welling's recently ended t-shirt campaign for St. Jude's Children's Hospital, which led to a lengthy discussion about Clark Kent and Superman and why Quentin Tarantino is completely wrong (it'll make sense once you listen). This show, however, is dedicated to the return of Young Justice. The trio spends the remainder of the podcast reminiscing about Young Justice and speculate what fans can expect now that the series has been resurrected for a third season. Well, we goofed. Due to circumstances beyond our control, this episode of NWP is woefully lacking a second segment. Worry not though, true believers! We’ll be bringing you the intended topic of this episode (vices and video games) next week. So sit back and enjoy what we’ve been playing and some bloopers. Julian can’t contain his inner fanboy for Transformers, and even though Fall of Cybertron isn’t his idea of a perfect TF game you get to hear him discuss it at length. Patrick vents his frustration over the ending of Dead Space 2 (no spoilers) and talks some Starhawk, while Rob manages to rave about Counter Strike: Global Offensive without yelling “BOOM! Headshot!” And that’s it! Check out the work of Ken Knudtsen that Rob was talking about here, and be sure to follow us all on Twitter, since we didn’t get the chance to beg for new followers this week.
